Beloved Man

It's finally HERE! I had the pleasure of purchasing Beloved Man It's been a long week... My thoughts: Beloved Man is 100% one of the more mass appealing fragrances that Amouage has, It is in the same territory as Reflection Man. It's very odd, smells kind of like Sunshine Man's Aromatic notes, but overall better? It is pretty soapy at the start... citrus as well... I like it, I felt like this goes against Amouage, THEN the soapy luban (frankincense) that differentiates Amouage from everywhere else comes in play and changes my mind once again completely. As a middle easterner, this is smells a lot like any fancy place's waiting area. It's clean, kinda spicy and really calming. Kind of like its a reassuring scent I think. OK imo this smells like L'eau D'issey Pour homme, but a more resinous version of it in my opinion. Overall this makes sense why it stopped production... although I will say this is really nice and misunderstood as well as forgotten by the community it feels like all eyes are on Myths Man and Bracken Man. This IN MY OPINION deserves more. A month after owning this, I will say i have come to appreciate and my previous review of it stands, this is such an amazing fragrance and deserves much more than the hype that Bracken Man got.

Beloved Man feels natural in a way that very few modern perfumes can. It's sweet, but in an aromatic way. Clean without falling into generic shower-gel territory. Spicy without ever becoming overpowering. Resinous without turning funky. Citrusy without any harsh sourness. Everything is perfectly balanced. It almost feels like the blueprint for Honour Man. They share that same sweet, resinous, spicy DNA, but Beloved refines every part of it and, in my opinion, pulls it off even better. (Wearing this at time of review)

A beautiful and unique fragrance that enters your heart directly without permission. This fragrance is one of a kind; no perfume house, old or new, not even Chanel or Dior, has created a fragrance like it. A fragrance that will leave its mark. 100/10

Amouage Beloved Man is such an amazing yet peculiar fragrance. In my opinion it’s the fougere of fougere fragrances. It somehow manages to merge the perfect barbershop fragrance and the perfect blue fragrance. It’s fresh, masculine and in my opinion Amouages best year round scent. Imagine Ingenious Ginger with a blue twist on it. Lasts a good while but isn’t too crazy on projection so overspraying is okay. Amouage NEEDS to bring this back, I already have a backup bottle.

My sample just came in! I wasn’t expecting much but here are my first impressions: Aromatic and fougere done to perfection. Opens herbal and spicy, dries down creamy and green. The opening reminds me of tom fords beau de jour, the drydown reminds me of amouage reckless leather. This is fantastic, and hopefully not too expensive or hard to find! Beloved Man from the Arab House of Perfumery Niche Haute Luxury Amouage from the Sultanate Of Oman is a Oriental Citrus Resinous Woody Spicy Men's perfume. It was released in 2013; this fragrance was created by Alexandra Carlin and Emilie Coppermann, two distinguished perfumers, in Grasse, France, under the supervision of Christopher Chong, the then Creative Director of Amouage at the time. Beloved Man is a masterful blend of citrus, resins, spices, flowers and woods that captures the allure of oriental compositions. This perfume unfolds with a vibrant burst through the resinous citrus depth of elemi, adding to the bittersweet acidity of grapefruit with orange, whose citrus nature creates a shimmering yet unsharp opening. This lively opening is further tempered by the green spice of cardamom and the warm spicy nuance of black pepper, creating a vivid outlet, a robust yet restrained burst of fresh, spicy and aromatic notes. As the fragrance progresses, its core reveals a luxurious floral bouquet, dotted with the spicy and slightly leathery sweetness of saffron meets the delicate powdery elegance of iris, with jasmine adding a soft floral sweetness, while the fresh rosy profile of geranium introduces a minty contrast. And this floral center with this complexity, is a testament to Amouage's timeless art, offering a refined and multifaceted experience. Heading into drying, cedar and guaiac woods provide a masculine woody polished finish, enriched by the depth and earthy and slightly sweet smoky nuances of the vetiver and patchouli duet. The musk and leather here in the base are very subtle just add a sensual touch. The result is a light, sophisticated, challenge-free and versatile perfume. Beloved Man opens with a grapefruit and black pepper spark, sharpened by soft resinous undertones that immediately set a warm, aromatic tone. The introduction is lively yet composed—spiced rather than sharp, elegant rather than aggressive. At its heart, the fragrance unfolds as a smooth aromatic–spicy composition, inviting and balanced, with a calm confidence that feels deliberately restrained. This is not the bombastic, room-filling Amouage many expect. The projection here is noticeably more measured: not a skin scent, but far from nuclear. It wears closer, more intimate, asking the wearer to lean in rather than announcing itself from across the room. Longevity, however, remains solid and dependable, anchoring the scent comfortably on skin for hours. The comparisons to Thameen Imperial Crown are easy to understand—there’s a shared elegance and polished resinous warmth that places Beloved Man in a similar refined territory. At times, it feels as though Amouage set out to craft their own interpretation of Terre d’Hermès; less mineral, more resinous, and filtered through the brand’s signature smoothness. The result may not be revolutionary, but it is quietly successful: tasteful, wearable, and understated in a way that feels intentional rather than compromised. Beloved Man doesn’t shout. It speaks softly and with very good manners.

A sort of middle-of-the-road Amouage from this era. The closest reference I have for the smell is Thameen Imperial Crown, which was a bit sickening with the pungency of the elemi and frankincense accord. Beloved Man is slightly more deftly blended, and stops just short of being cloying. In style (not scent) I'd say it's similar to Jubilation XXV Man in that it's halfway between a Middle Eastern scent and a French gentleman's scent, except it is far less complex than Jubilation (and doesn't smell anywhere near as good). It's solid though. Balsamic enough to seem vaguely exotic, but conforming to an overall recognisable genre of men's classic perfume. Some complexity and hints of depth around the edges, but mostly pretty linear and single-minded. I don't really connect with the scent, but I could see it being a signature for a fastidious middle-aged businessman type. But not particularly evocative, particularly compared to some of the contemporaries in the Amouage line.

Those who have paid attention to my other Amouage reviews know that I tend to be critical of them when they step into Western hodgepodge perfume styles and play it safe. Like Daniel Day-Lewis deciding to do a primetime sitcom; no, it’s an incongruous waste of talent and I don’t want to see it. However, I am willing to admit when I get it wrong, and, happily, Beloved Man is here to prove it to me. Unlike the majority of reviewers here I get a masculine amber. But, I will concede that this discrepancy to many doesn’t mean that I think their assertion is invalid: it speaks to the part of Beloved Man that is the most “iffy”, that being it tries to be all things to all men. Sure there are fougere and/or chypre characteristics, but I get mostly woody amber. The opening is weird and interesting. Thanks to grapefruit and pepper, the resins and spices give off a strange acrid sulfuric and resinous quality that is, surprisingly, not harsh or off putting like you’d expect. It’s endearingly awkward. The spices and resins string down to greet a green floral and orris heart. The florals are restrained and cool in a typical masculine way, while the warm, woody, and earthy resins and spices give hints to the amber base that awaits. This next part is where it seems to generate a misfire for many because the woods in the base are a bit thin and grating. Patchouli and musk try desperately to round them out, which gives off an amber feeling in conjunction with those woods, but the green notes from the heart still have some life and accent an aromatic vetiver note - which leads some to either fougere or chypre interpretations. In the final skin scent, more than 12 hours later, it is more fougere-like in its character but it takes a long time to get there. Determining what Beloved Man is will be defined by how much weight you put on the time it spends on one character type. Since, for me, it spends so little time and energy on fougere characteristics, I call it an amber. Despite the iffy wood notes, which aren’t bad by the way, just unusually a-touch subpar for Amouage, Beloved Man sticks to name. It is loving, it is warm, it is friendly, and it is restrained, but it also has just enough quirkiness for that endearing quality that we find in our most beloved. When I want an “all things to all men” perfume but that smells, feels, and acts - generally speaking - like an Amouage, I reach for this because it does its directionless mishmash of masculine templates better than most. Shame I can rarely justify wearing it since it’s discontinued.

Sadly this is discontinued but I've acquired a sample. This is a fairly straight forward fresh woody aromatic fragrance with a big dose of Amouage's signature balsamic Elemi. I would compare this to Dior Homme EDT, not in scent profile but for being a very competent all-rounder although not unique in scent profile, especially compared to other, more creative offerings from Amouage.

It's like Bleu de Chanel but wifh the quality and opulence turned up from 10 to 1000. OK, now I'm a couple of hours in, I have to say it's much more than I thought. The jasmine really starts belting out in the dry down, and reminds you it's Amouage, baby. It bears strong DNA resemblance to Silver Man and Dia Man. Update: it is a shame that the dazzling opening is gone in seconds, I can see myself burning through loads just to keep smelling it.

A bite of lemon cake—creamy, melting effortlessly on the tongue… Smoky resins jostle for space: Omani frankincense and Filipino elemi… Dry cedarwood and guaiac intertwine In perfect harmony with leather (isobutyl quinoline). My beloved from Amouage, A 2013 release, Now, sadly, discontinued. My paradoxical love— As dry as aged wood, yet as moist as cake. Smoky like burning incense, yet as serene as rich spices. Radiant like spring blossoms at dawn, yet as dark as a leather coat on a cold night. In its essence, it carries the legacy of its ancestors—Jubilation XXV and Ubar.

Got my hands on a 10 ml decant of this sadly discontinued offering. My initial thoughts in the air was that this is Amouage does a blend of Grey Vetiver EDP and Terre d'Hermès with some add-ons. I was getting citrusy elemi, vetiver and orris mainly. Realistically speaking it opens up spicy alike Grey Vetiver but resinous elemi replaces pimento. Then it has more depth and noticeable powderiness coming from Orris root. On my second wear I notice the sweetness more and more as there is a lot of guaiac wood in the base, giving this creamy vanillic facet. It is essentially what I was smelling in the far dry down of my first wear. As for any Amouage, there are surprises every wear so I will be spending more time with it.

What a beautiful masterpiece. Old Amouages.... Beloved is classy yet modern, reminds me of Opium Homme EDP, same vibes. It is elegant, distinct, very exquisite. Unfortunately it has been discontinued few years ago both masculine and feminine Beloved (another masterpiece!) and now is very hard to find- maybe on some collectors, used bottles for extremely high prices. 😔 I ll keep my half bottle forever and I will use it only on ocasions. So sad that every masterpiece from amouage is removed from.production, sooner or later.

Have two sprays of this on my left arm and it’s pretty good. I know Amouage has a citrusy type of elemi and I think this has some of that. It’s got a bright citrusy and peppery opening. Definitely not something I expected from an Amouage but it’s a very easy to wear scent for most people. It has some slight resemblance to Dior’s Eau Sauvage Parfum. But it’s less dark and slightly brighter. As it dries down, you can smell a little cardamom and the guaiac wood along with the patchouli coming out too. It’s on the lighter side of projection on me but the longevity is decent. I’d say this is a good entry point into the brand. It’s pretty easy to wear and not challenging at all. Most people get into Amouage and think everything is too strong. Reflection man is a good entry but this would be more mass pleasing and safe. Really nice easy to wear perfume.

A metallic oriental fougere, with a powdery touch. This is not your usual Amouage, but its still amazing. I get reminded of MFK's Masculin Pluriel, but with elemy and more spices this time.

This is a neutral scent. Its basic yet classy sofisticated nothing extraordinary. Blend is very smooth like all the amouage but its not a fragrance you will remember. Not 100ml worthy at this price point. Dont get me wrong this aint bad at any mean but this is not extraordinary what we expect from Amouage. With due respect I never felt amazed by work of Master Perfumer "Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann", this remains same. Rating 6.87 Performance 6 Uniqueness 5.5 Smell 7 Blend 8

Mature scent which shares a bit of that Ganymede / Bois Imperial DNA. Nice stuff

Classy, exquisite, ellegant. Smells like rich man's wallet. Full of charactere and class. Compliment magnet, you can never go wrong with it and it has something very, very special (reminds me for some reason of Opium Homme EDP (not EDT!). It can easily be an office scent but I consider it too ellegsnt and precious to be used in such common even toxic sometimes enviornment like an office. Unfortunately, both Beloved Man and Woman are now discontinued since one year and it is almost imposible to find them for a retail price. A masterpiece that proves a sad fact: Amouage is no longer what it used to be in the Chong era. Disappeared too soon from everywhere, even ebay, imposible to be found. 8.5/10 💎 a beautiful gem

At first smell I didn't really like this but on a second wear I've changed my mind. Elemi isnt something that i usually like and imo it was a little bit harsh in the opening but over time the fragrance smoothed out into something really nice. I love the soft but sweet citrus mixed with the resinous smell. For some reason this kind of remiss me of sandal wood but at the same time not really. Like sandal wood with berry juice ontop? Maybe just my nose

Imagine Kouros or Antaeus if they were made by Amouage. More refined and more wearable. That's this fragrance in a nutshell. A must have if you are a fan of 80's and 90's powerhouse scents. It's got an air of luxury to it that really makes the wearer come off as a wealthy corporate businessman type. Along with Beach Hut Man this is definitely one of my favorites from the house. This one along with Micailef DesirToxic and Arquiste El are like Neo 80s 90s powerhouse fragrances and I'm just loving them.

This is nice; on paper it opens up a little like Egypt by Eight & Bob, however on skin it opens closer to fragrances like New York Intense (but perhaps a little more subtle). The opening isn’t my favourite, but after 10 minutes or so it settles into a spicy, sweet, slightly green & warm scent profile. It has a ‘classic’ vibe to it. After 3+ hours the scent becomes more powdery, yet retains subtle nuances of the opening hour or so. I prefer this one on paper rather than on my skin, it’s nice but it just didn’t work with my chemistry.

Gorgeous scent! Classy, elegant, unique. Such a smooth, velvety yet strong and long lasting fragrance. Office and signature worthy.

The only part of this I don’t like is the powdery ionone/old man fart like opening that lasts maybe 15 minutes. Other than that this is a great fougere type scent. Classic fougere drydown with a strong woody note. May not project for long, but has great longevity as a skin acent. This is discontinued, but I wouldn’t dish more than 170$ for this, seeing how at the moment, you can find full bottles and testers all over the web. Not worth collector bucks, but worth having in your collection if you are a amouage fan.

Just a quick note that this gorgeous fragrance does in fact have an incense aroma in it. Below are the notes from the Amouage website. Of particular importance is Olibanum. Along with quite a few others, it’s missing from the notes list for the fragrantica listing, which seems to be par for the course here. Top Notes: Orange, Grapefruit, Neroli, Cypress, Elemi, Clove Bud, Black pepper, Cardamom. Heart Notes: Geranium Bourbon, Jasmine, Orris, Cumin, Olibanum, Labdanum, Nutmeg, Saffron. Base Notes: Cedarwood Atlas, Guaiac Wood, Leather, Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk. By no means is incense a star player in this fragrance like it is in many of the other Amouage scents in its time, but it is most certainly there. Olibanum. Smell it again. You can sense it now, can’t you?
