Mmmmm.... great addition to my collection....... vintage, sexy scent. If you like Femme Rochas, BaL, Youth Dew, Cinnabar, Salome; then this is a must have...... particularly since you can get it at a bargain price. What's not to like!

Animale oh animale how I love thy animale. Spring, summer, fall, and winter rain or shine no matter the weather conditions Animale sticks to my skin and never goes away even on the hottest of summer days. This is one hell of a chypre I have the Suzanne de lyon version from the 80s as well as an animale group bottle from the 2000s. Both bottles have OUTSTANDING performance all around the one from the 80s is just more rosy and natural smelling but its not too far off from my other bottle at all. This is a very unique smell onto its own it really cant be compared to other chypres in my opinion because its just so different

This is a powerhouse!!! I sprayed one spritz in my bedroom and it followed me into living room and camped out as if I had sprayed it there. I love it!!! The rosewood is glorious!!!

I'm still trying to understand this one. Upon first srapy, it immediately reminded me of Armani Rose d'Arabie which is heavy rose and patchouli. This is 100% a rose perfume to me. I just keep picturing a women fresh out of the hair salon, huge perm and her hair is filled with hairspray. Definitely 80's. I'm glad I have it and will keep trying it, I think it will be more tolerable in the winter, it's summer in Florida so one second I'm like wow this is so unique, next sec I feel like gagging. It's definitely quality, potent. There's one word that keeps comming to me when I smell this perfume - huge. HUGE.

Tea Rose gone hookin’!

Yep….. that definitely smells like the 80s! I won’t say it’s god awful, but I will say it took 2 washes with antibacterial dial, 2 washes with body wash and a body scrub to get MOST of this scent out of my inner elbow after a shopping expedition at a a perfume store. I said it really reminded me of something I’d smelled around my mom. I let my girls smell my inner elbow and my girls both said they’d smelled this scent when my mom (their grandma) made her bed with powder. Overall pleaaaase for love of all things decent & good, test first. Do not blind buy unless you KNOW you like it or the DNA because if you’re unsure, you will be mad at yourself. The only thing to its credit (or in my case demise) is that the longevity is amazing.

I like this stuff, but I was immediately taken back by how much it smells like Cinnabar, of all things. It shares a very similar razor-sharp spiciness. Cinnabar happens to be one of my favorites, but I wasn't expecting that from a chypre. The longevity and projection are very strong. I have a brand new bottle, so it doesn't seem as if any reformulations have watered it down.

Yesssss. I've been backfilling my collection with some classic fragrances from decades of yore and I finally pulled the trigger and blind bought this one. Oh, sweet chypre gods, this is everything I love about the late 80s. Minxy with winged eyeliner and shoulder pads. Or black vinyl and stiletto knee-high boots and Siouxsie Sioux makeup. I've smelled expensive niche chypres that don't quite scratch the chypre itch like this one does. I am madly in love.

Анонім

Oh wow! I read Miguel's article about this so ordered it online. This is a wonderful chypre. Reminiscent but not totally aligned with the accords of Aromatics Elixer, La Perla, and Coriandre. It's invigorating and almost therapeutic, like a brisk walk in fresh air.

Elegant & sophisticated . Chanel no5 mix it with estee lauder dna. 10/10

Very unique perfume!!!I'am glad I discovered it. The fragrances of that decade are timeless and long lasting!

This one is indeed a true classic, this fragrance will arrive earlier than you, the sillage is huge, i wear it sometimes and people already know when im coming like meters away, i think its a bold and challenging choice nowadays we are in the sweet era, its an amazing floral and harsh civet scent, beautiful, its like youre in a forest full of flowers and honey, and you got sprayed by a skunk. Check it in stores if possible before blind buy, and if you already did, let it sit for a while and wear it casually, the scent will grow on you.

Magnificent fragrance, over-the-top, bombastic, and intimidating. Like being sprayed by a skunk, it will clear elevators and get folks to get out of the way. Absolutely fantastic.

I have smelled the niches. I have smelled the TikTok perfumes. I have smelled the Arabian perfumes. This one is fucking unmatched to me. It’s sexy, almost offensively sexy. It has everything, and how RANDOM is the coconut note? It’s perfect. It’s literally almost campy. It’s delicious and so weirdly punk rock

I visited my sister while wearing this. I stayed for a couple of hours and talked with her. But when I decided to go i guess this perfume decided it didn't want to leave and stuck around at my sister's house for 7 days after I left. Trust me I know, Elora called me 2 weeks later complaining that her livingroom reeked for a week

Shares 95% resemblance to Soir de Lune by Sisley in the opening and dry-down are 50-60% similar (tested both on the skin). Soir de Lune is sharper while Animale is voluptuous and smooth. Very retro-vintage vibe. If I had to choose between the two, I will happily choose Animale. I have the Suzanne de Lyon edition.

Let me say first that I wore this perfume in the '90's, so must've been reformulated later, although it still smells very close to the original to me. To me, it's like Clinique Aromatics Elixir of the '80's in its power and personality. The price was always very good but is now unbelievable for such a powerful chypre... I still love this well blended perfume. All the things you love about a classic but it's NOT a safe blind buy. Because it's not sweet, fruity or marshmallow, the young girls will find no use for this. This is perfume for a grown woman. The florals, woods and spices are the kind that want as you walk by, leaves a lovely trail. The down side is that maybe this isn't for the office, as it can be headache inducing to the sensitive folks. Or use a light hand.

Just bought this from my trusted mall perfume shop. There was one bottle of edp tucked away in a glass case that was stuffed with oldies/goodies. This one was made in USA in 2015. First impression: smells a lot like Jean Couturier Coriandre, and dries to a rosy dry woody floral, somewhat reminiscent of the dryness of the last Aromatics Elixir (since 2013) but animalic like Paloma Picasso. Overall, happy with my purchase, it doesn't seem like it will last long on skin, a little soapy within minutes, but I spray my clothes too, we shall see. Pretty good, sexy, totally my type of chypre!

Blind bought this after reading about it in a novel (!) many years ago and then these reviews, which further stoked my curiosity. My first spray was an emotional rollercoaster - immediate disgust - very strong 'old perfume' alcohol smell mixed with animal urine, but then quickly becoming this amazing, complex mix of powder, wood, musk, moss and undergrowth. The previous poster who said 'one spray only' is 100% correct, it is extremely potent. For me the florals came through beautifully over about an hour. To my taste, the base notes are almost heaven - soapy and herbal. However there is also a strange 'damp towel' odour (which I will tolerate as it seems to belong there somehow). It smells like you are drying yourself in a log cabin changing room, after using an outdoor plunge pool in the depths of a Swedish forest. Particularly if someone else in the cabin happened to be using rose-fragranced talc around you. This is totally vintage, nostalgic, loud/heavy and about as subtle as a brick in the face but I'm completely hooked. Can see why it's considered a winter (and evening only) scent but tonight I'm going to try one small spray after my bedtime bath as I feel like this could carry over into the morning as a very unique daytime scent provided not too strong.

I've just bought a new bottle and it's from Panamá. I don't know what's the problem what it smells slightly different to the bottle made in the USA that I've had. Still have good projection.

Animale is one of my forever scents. I recalled first seing the 1980s magazine ads when I was a little girl and I wondered how savage it would be with it's 80s sporty graphic designed bottle. I've compared Animale to scents like Charlie, Liz Claiborne, Aromatics Elixir, and Rumba, to which I thought it smelled more refreshing with the coriander yet sweet and bold like these fragrances. This scent would smell great at an airconditioned party or where you want to proudly stand out (not at work or the gym). I don't yet own Paloma Picasso or Diva, but I'd gladly collect these perfumes because these were voted to be similar to Animale.

This is my favorite scent I've ever found. I can smell a rich, smooth stab of honey, a bit of rose, a bit mossy and powdery underneath, and something just exotic and luxurious. It's hard to separate individual notes, but it just smells absolutely perfect all the way through, and I can't get enough of it. It sounds like I'm an outlier here, but I wish it lasted longer, though I am still pretty happy with how long it lasts. And I don't feel it's too strong at all as I can get my nose right up in it and love every second of it. And I feel like it isn't too gendered of a scent.

Reviews for vintage chypres never cease to entertain. I've read everything from "soil and diapers," to now "elegant bitchiness." Show me the lie! 🤣 it's what makes us come back for more!

Was reading about Animale all morning with anticipation 'cause my husband joined a raffle for it. He won the vintage bottle to give to me! I wasn't sure I'd like this but I DO! I don't even know how to describe it, but I haven't liked a perfume this much in a long time. To me, the bottle's hideous but I don't even care. It's soapy, powdery, floral and green... So good. This will easily be one of my favorites. Update: I find it very similar to Cartier La Panthere, as others say, but I may prefer this after all for the sillage, longevity, and intensity.

An amazing old one 👍a perfect quality with this kind of sparkling effect there is something that makes me think about champagne with a first spray…it’s bold and fresh at the same time! Masterpiece !

I write this review with great emphasis, 80s perfume", we are in the midst of those years, where perfumes were real bombs! I remember that in that period, being only 10 years old, I was already in love with the scented scents that I smelled around, but obviously you couldn't go into a perfumery and try everything as you do nowadays,... otherwise you would be kicked out :-) so I went to a department store that sold a bit of everything and started trying all the types of perfume imaginable! Wow.... for me it was heaven, obviously Animale Animale reminds me a lot of them, very complex creations, it gives me an almost clean, soapy feel, like those vintage bars of soap that were put in drawers to perfume the linen, or like those rich shower baths from times gone by that released their scent on you for hours! It is certainly not a perfume for young women, it is a perfume well rooted in an era where everything was exaggerated beyond belief, but this is also what made us love those years so much! I'm so happy to have it in my collection and grateful to a dear friend who gave it to me as a gift ❤️

The first time I smelled this was on my first cousin Katrina in 1997! Every time I smell or see this bottle, I think about her! I asked her immediately as a teenage girl in the late 90s what she was wearing! She told me “Amimale” and I went and loaded up! 😆 It’s a very unique and LOUD scent to me! Definitely has an 80s vibe/scent profile to it! ❤️

I was browsing different gift sets on Jomashop and saw this for an affordable price. As soon as I looked at the bottle, I could tell this had to be from the 80's or early 90's. Lol. The color of the lid reminds me of Avon's Lahana and Tribe by Coty. The design of the lid reminds me of an old Caboodle. I'm guessing the formula uses real civet since this is such an old fragrance.
