Pity it's discontinued, smells like a bolder take on Opus 1870: same head notes (lots of black pepper and a bit of citrus), but the heart and the base are somewhat more aromatic.

Received this as a gift, but it was a bit of a challenge. It opens with an intense, sharp black pepper blast that dominates the scent. While the citrus and vetiver try to balance it out, the spicy, woody heart felt a bit too heavy for my personal taste. Definitely a unique choice for those who love bold, peppery profiles, but it wasn't my daily go-to.

If the song, “Who Are You?” by the Who …could manifest itself in a scent….. Nostalgia came knocking and I bought a bottle but it wasn’r rhe same. The top notes are missing ..it’s more like CDG Man II. That funk from 2009 that made it so different is gone. I’ll have to find an older bottle. Either reformulated before discontinuation OR it didn’t agr well. I’m betting on reformulation.

Fresh marine opening, very contemporary and classy. Not overpowering nor deodorant smell like. Follows the Burberry The Beat DNA Very elegant and versatile, suitable for young professionals, unisex leaning masculine. The peppery notes develop more and more every second, giving the perfume a more settled scent, more mature and refined. As if time grows on skin… the first minutes upon spraying remind of a young professional, and at dry down it’s another story, one of a sophisticated, experienced and assertive man. I wanted initially to say this is office safe, but actually it would be risky to wear at work — you know what I mean…! However spraying too much would be a mistake. A safe buy and would make a sophisticated gift to any person. I feel this is at least a classic a man should at least have on his shelf, to wear all year around. ___ Projection, sillage, longevity : 8,5/10 Originality, presentation : 8/10 Quality, value : 9/10 8,5/10

Very unique scent, been wearing this for a long time for school and now at work (mainly when the weather is cold ish). Unfortunately the production of this fragrance is discontinued, so it is somewhat harder to find and buy than back in the day. Still in love with this scent. Projection is good, only it is lacking a bit in performance. Might want to try layering this one, so you have two layers on top of each other (spray ones, wait 1min to dry, and spray ones again). Also got compliments from colleagues on this one! For the ones who are unsure to buy/wear, just do it!

The black pepper is strong. There’s a freshness present, likely due to what smells like pine resin. The geranium is a nice touch. One user wrote, "For a designer frag, Beat is daring". I agree.

I used to really like this one in my college days, but got tired of the scent after like a year of use. It's a really unique ultra peppery fragrance. Very masculine, not for everybody. I think it's a great alternative to the usual gourmand forward (spiced like a scented pinecone) type winter fragrances (1 Million, Spice bomb, Stronger With You, Most Wanted, etc) if those aren't you cup of tea. Best suited for colder days. I liked the scent more than people around me.

Анонім★★★★★

I’m really in conflict with this one: I personally love it and find it bright dark green foresty fresh but all the harsh negativity is making conscious/anxious wearing it - if all the people around me find it disturbing Maybe need to collect some input from around me OR just wear it, own it!

Анонім★★★★★

It’s nice it’s quite unique a lot of black pepper and the citron makes it has this cooking smell this is underrated for a reason because it it’s the opposite of mass appealing for some people I like it tho and it is discontinued

very peppery warm, mature, unique but not my style...

This is probably my worst blind buy ever. Smells like salad dressing. Terrible!

Анонім★★★★★

Overall vibe is like a combo/hybrid of Lalique White and Fendi Theorema Uomo, but with bitter vetiver instead. Nope, not interested, thank you..

Woody then peppery then both and the citrus finally comes to the forefront. I didn't mind it at first, it was different so that was exciting. I didn't necessarily like it but I could see how it was likeable. After 5 hours maybe, it was getting annoying but I went to sleep with it on to test the longevity and the deep dry down. I woke up and the smell was starting to make me nauseous. The pepper and the woodsy notes are definitely responsible for that pickle smell. I wasn't getting too much of the pickle accord but I could see how it would hit some that way. Seems ok and quirky at first but it quickly overstays it's visit.

Анонім★★★★★

Very green herbal peppery kinda vibe. Not off putting by any means but isn’t very impressive either, can be had pretty cheap but honestly a pass for me. Soft projection and longevity as well. Maybe a decent dumb reach for spring daytime wear.

Анонім★★★★★

Unfortunately the worst perfume I've ever bought. Others may like it, but I don't.

Анонім★★★★★

When I first got this some years ago, I found this to be a monster ever lasting pepper and vetiver bomb. Interesting, but I couldn’t wear it without feeling I was stinking out the place. I returned to it recently and either the juice has mellowed or my nose has improved. Less pepper than I remember. More citrus and a smoother vetiver. Not eternal but a good 5 hours on skin. Much more on clothes. Nice. One of the few that I may re-buy. Seemed to disappear for a while but has recently reappeared in the UK. So possibly re formulated

Анонім★★★★★

Immediately prominent black pepper and citrus up front. Slightly herbaceous and vetiver comes into play. This is not a strong in your face fragrance, it's pretty soft on my skin. Performance will be pretty dismal as far as I can tell. Can be found pretty cheap but I'm not really feeling this fragrance. Cool presentation is the only thing that I like. Ok scent but longevity, projection and sillage are terrible. I'd go with Encre Noir Sport at the same price point and similar vibe less the pepper, however longevity and projection are way better with Encre Noir.

I loved this when I had it. To me personally, gives me a similar vibe to dirty english by Juicy Couture. While they smell completely different both of them are manly almost lumberjack type smells. Love the pepper and the ozonic qualities. My go to with a flannel shirt.

This was my first perfume. So a lot of nostalgia is built into this review. Grain of salt. I had no clue what was cool or not when I bought this thing about 10 years ago. So whenever i was in an airport I would sniff a million strips and then spray a few I liked on my wrist and walk away. Two stuck with me: the Beat and Dior Homme. I had no clue what I was smelling but I knew I liked it. Bought a 50 ml and then would buy a new bottle whenever I went to the airport. It was great. So I just bought a $25 50 ml bottle from FragranceBuy for the nostalgia. And I completely regret it: I should've bought a bigger bottle!! It's awesome. There is a "peppery-ness" and a grapefruit-like citrus (pithy - more that white stuff than the actual juice) and it is way more floral than I remember. Violet makes sense. I thought I hated violet (Portrayal Man is a big dislike for me), but the Beat's violet is comparable just not powdery. And there's no musky-ness to this. Musk and powder don't really work for me. At all. Which I guess means: I love non-powdery violet and always have. Who knew?? For the money, this is very special. I have close to 40 fragrances now and the Beat is utterly unique. Yes, nostalgia may be speaking. I did live in a cloud of this stuff for a couple of years of my life. I will say this: one of the reasons I shifted over to Dior and then to Durga's Sir was longevity. By the end, I was going through 100 ml every few months and paying retail! I'm not sure what's going on with this bottle but this one spray on my wrist has lasted over an hour and is competeing with Amber Kiso for nostril space (though to be fair to the durga I've been wearing that one for 5 hours). The Beat is really good stuff. Completely understand why people might not jive, but I think of this as a plus. They don't jive because they've never smelled anything like it. I know i haven't and I've sampled 200 plus fragrances in the last 6 months. As for the chemically smell - I disagree. It has that dryness I associate with vetiver dominant fragrances. I used to describe this as chemically (I mean, technically, it is??). But now I recognize it as its own thing. Big thumbs up. P.S. this was a compliment monster for me. Jeremy Fragrance's wet dream-style unsolicited hot ladies and hot guy compliment monster. Never experienced that with Dior. I did with Durga Sir, but less so. I did with Journey Man but less so. I did with Nasamatto Duro, but less so. This is my most complimented fragrance ever. Do with that what you will.

I mainly get the pepper, citrus and violet. This is a bit extreme and unusual. You can see they are going for an edgy, rock and roll vibe. So it doesn't make it as mass-appealing as some of Burberry's other colognes. This has a harder edge to it, which is more divisive. Also less versatile. The pepper and lack of sweetness/brightness makes it more for winter nights. This is more art school/arthouse than mainstream. But I don't see myself using it too often. It's too offbeat (no pun intended.) It's too predominantly peppery and citrus, making it that food-y type of cologne that is more like a seasoning or marinade than a cologne. UPDATE: I wear this once in a while, if the mood hits. It is still mainly strong sour citrus and pepper, with some floral in the background. It does have some strength for a cheapie and makes a bit of a distinct statement.

Анонім★★★★★

It opens with a nice peppery note and then this sour citrus smell takes over...

I wore this to see a group of touring musicians called “the amazing skank brothers” and the smell fit the occasion perfectly. Do with this information what you will. As mentioned by another reviewer, synthetic pepper bomb. I don’t know what people mean when they say pickles but then again I always ask for my burgers without pickles so I’m no expert.

Анонім★★★★★

It´s mainly citric with a hint of pepper in the drydown. Lasts about 1 hour on the skin. The sprayer splashes you with a big gulp of fragrance. Similar smells can be found for less money. Since Coty makes Burberry fragrances it´s all down the drain. Too bad...

Анонім★★★★★

The first time I tried this, it came off as a sythetic Pepper bomb with a pickled citrus accord... Did not like it. However, after a couple more wearings it opened / developed more. It does open with a peppery kick but it was more subdued. The Citron blends well with the florals and the peppery earthy accords last throughout the life of the fragrance. Its ok... Something along the lines of Terre d'Hermes... Fresh, spicy, earthy woody citrus. Casaul office scent... Not much else to me. Doesnt have the classy refined feel of something like TdH. **EDIT** I gave this more wearings.... I just cannot like it. I started to get a pickle accord from it as well. It seems like an attempt to create a more youthful nod to TdH... It just misses for me. I can usually find a use for just about any fragrance... Having trouble here. I took it to my cabin with about 100 others... Maybe the earthy woody accords will work ok as a room spray in the Spring months up there.... Other then that, it is a dust collector for me. As I cant even give it away. Just not anything I can enjoy.

Just back from the chemist for a test of this on my skin. The first think I thought has been: Aramis. Reading about this being a pepper bomb I expected something much stronger, but its pepper is not powerful as Spice Bomb for example. It's more nuanced, like a mix between old Aramis and Spice Bomb, with Burberry Touch peeping from the key hole. The demographic is certainly not a young one, I would say over 60 distinct gentlemen. I am not 60 and I would never buy this. I wouldn't even wear it if I receive it as a gift, despite not being this fragrance repulsive or anything. After one hour some sort of citrus zest note is coming out, but nothing spectacular. Pleasant but not for me. It would be interesting to know how it smells and project on someone else though. Absolutely not a blind buy my friends. To see if you can trust my review take a look at what I love on my profile and what I hate.

The best Burberry perfume for me.

My wife bought this for me for our anniversary, She knows I love pepper in my fragrances. This is a very nice all-around cologne for men. The opening is bright and spirited with the pepper as it dries down you get a little more sweetness from the flowers and as you hit the bottom and he got a nice mellow woody scent. Performance is average, and that’s quite common for Burberry. But out of all my Burberry’s this is my favorite.
