Obsession for Men

Obsession for Men was my signature scent for many, many years. Solid performer and great masculine scent. It feels dated, but I still enjoy it and the evoked memories. Will always be in my collection.

It's a cheap CK bottle... And that's where its pluses end for me. Might be different on your skin, but given the multitude of other interesting options, I suggest not to risk it.

THE MYSTERIOUS GEM In the '80s, when everything was loud, powerful, and wild, Obsession broke the alpha male stereotype, becoming a sensual figure who explored the deep intrigues of new horizons. He didn't seek attention by shouting loudly, nor did he want to project an image of superiority; he simply represented that cultured, open-minded man who let his mind wander. That was Obsession. One of the reasons is that it ranks among the top ten of that decade alongside true powerhouses like Kouors, Polo, and Drakkar Noir by his own style, is pure Aura. A few sprays and you feel you travel to ancient Arabic world: dense, laden with spices, incense, resins but not the "new" Arabic world where predominate vanilla essence, Obsession is more strong spices, resins, dense amber, animal notes and lots of warmth. Is remain me too much to Opium YSL and Egoiste and if you looking for a budget choice I'll highly recommend you Passion by Elizabeth Arden and Zino by Davindoff, all 5 are the same family. When you' use it: This perfume is definitely for Fall/Winter season, DON'T you ever thing to wear in summer coz someone is going to call to 911 by air intoxication, is very very strong with long lasting and strong sillage. Isn't design to clubbing like Eros but a romantic dinner, isn't sweet but aromatic. In daytime is shinning?? Not really, I used a few times here in Japan where I lives where the winter isn't that bad compare with Europe and definitely isn't match it all. Just keep it for an special occasion with a reunion for dating and let the fragrances do the rest involved in a incredible aura where you can't reach but you can dream. I really love it this perfume. To the new generations: If you are new in the 80s perfumes this is the one you must to own, is a forgotten gem that surprisingly nowadays it would work(if you forget the sweetness) so good because in the world of Tik Tok or "influencers" like other parasites from Youtube lying on Arabic sweet fragrances for the mass appeal , Obsession resemble Lattafa series but without sweetness but spicy, the real Arab one. It doesn't matter if you're not familiar with this branch of perfumes, believe me, your partner will be at your feet and you'll leave that feeling of a mysterious and intriguing person that makes them fall in love with every drop you put on. Definitely more of a male vibe. The scent is classic, without being dated. I do find it doesn't last long, but it is afterall an EDT, not an EDP so it won't be as strong as a parfum. It smells expensive but the oepning does have a bit of a cheap factory vibe to it, dry down is perfect. A safe blind buy for guys. Very woody, I don't smell vanilla but that might be my nose.

Top 10 GOAT 🐐 this fragrance is not old or grandpa. It’s beautiful warm spicy Christmas cinnamon holiday musky amber woody goodness and will always be one of the greatest fragrances ever made. Grand soir pales in comparison.

An iconic fragrance, that still smells good today! It’s very affordable, and seems to last a good amount of time on the skin .

It’s a classic for very good reasons. Warm sweet ambery heaven , Lasts well and makes the wearer smell divine. Unmatched For value quality & originality. Wonderful fragrance.

A cheap, old school, solid starter winter fragrance. It has this weird olive smell when you first smell it, but becomes very masculine and nice as it dries down. It opens with citrus, which is a unique winter note, but the cinnamon balances it out very well. Even though it is a cheap fragrance, it smells expensive in a weird way, and is great for the office or date nights as well, because of how appealing it is. Definitely not a safe blind buy. 7.2/10

I actually really love this, F and I've never smelled this before. it's a very high up in the nose spice rather than a warm throaty spice I don't get much cinnamon but do get a lot of lavender, woods, pine and balsam the base vanilla really rounds it out into a delicious scent

I was gifted a miniature fragrance set that had this in it. It reminded me of the way my father in law smells, so I gave it to him. I like the fragrance, but I prefer Passion for Men over this. If I happened to come across a deal on a vintage bottle, I would probably buy it just for nostalgia.

This is one of those rare gems that smell like gasoline, IYKYK. I have had multiple women compliment me on this one, stating it "Intoxicating" I do think that my bottle has transformed into this smell profile since I have had this cologne for many years; the ones I smell on store shelves do not have the same kick. 8/10 just for the nostalgia

Possibly the bottle I smelled is bad but this is very low quality. It smells floral to me. Absolutely smells like a cheap 80's cologne I just get floral, powder, and astringent vibe here. Very feminine. Wouldn't recommend

It's not bad, it got a decent scent and a decent performance, but is woody asf. Smell 5/10 Longevity 7/10 (7/8 hours) Projection 6/10

7.2/10 Perfectly wearable vintage scent. The vanilla reminds me slightly of baby cat, which can only be a compliment.

Wore the OG in 91. Current formulation is so far removed from the OG that it's a crime. Should not be passed off as Obsession because it's completely different! A completely different animal.

The scent of obsession for men is irrevocably linked with being in my early teens. Dousing myself on a visit to department store and then radiating civet, tobacco and spice at a Saturday showing of a John Hugh’s film.first bottle for my 15th birthday - aftershave. And then graduated onto the EDT the following year. Wore this through 80s and 90s, then tastes and fashions changed so I moved on. On a whim of nostalgia I thought I’d give one of the current formulations a whirl. And at a fraction of the price of what this would have cost in 80s, didn’t feel so much of a risk. Like a lot of revisiting 80s products, it’s never the same or quite as good as you recall the original to be - Monster Munch, anyone. The initial spray and opening could have been Georgio Beverly Hills (and not in a good way). Synthetic and a little thin. Not getting that complexity, richness or enveloping warmth, I recall from previous formulations. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good dupe. This just feels like a bit of disappointment.

After wearing this for a full day, I can confidently say that this is the best $23 I've ever spent on a fragrance. This makes me nostalgic for a time period that I didn't exist in. Other than the vibe, this is an incredible sweet, ambery, spicy fragrance and it's blended spectacularly. [Mental Imagery]: Going to the Malibu Club in Vice City after slamming an ambulance into a brick wall.

I own a vintage Unilever distributed bottle and a now "semi-vintage" 2011 COTY. I actually enjoy both. The Unilever bottle is noticeably danker than the COTY, but I genuinely prefer the 2011 COTY for normal day-to-day wear. Both absolutely eclipse the modern-day COTY bottles; the new bottles smell noticeably thinned and hollowed out. It's like looking at an ink pen sketch next to a fully coloured in portrait. I'm not doing the cliche "vintage is better" meme; there genuinely is a drastic difference between the modern and vintage when it comes to this specific fragrance. Having said that, even the current COTY bottles have a ton of class compared to the syrupy sweet modern shite that gets peddled to the TikTok influencer sheep masses these days. I totally get it if someone thinks Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui or Lagerfeld Classic smells a bit "stuffy" (I like both), but Obsession is still so easy to wear in 2026 imo. Smells like an early 90s winter in NYC. This smells like the world before social media and AI slop, back when humans were individuals, not mindless algorithm-personality basics. I have a modern formulation and it smells amazing and performs very well. A 200 ml bottle under €30, a great scent and excellent longevity, sillage and projection? Sign me up. A classic for a reason.

Anyone here old enough to recall how luxurious, rich, nuanced and high quality Obsession for Men was say, 40 years ago? Obsession PH could have EASILY rivaled ANY Guerlain, Chanel, or Roja Dove as ot was just such an Iconic, GORGEOUS Masculine fragrance. One only needed 3 to 4 spritzes TOPS to fill a room and youd be golden for the entire day into the evening. This scent was Soapy, yet resinous, Clean yet Ambery. And I know, I know! Well never get another Obsession and if we did get something like it, we'd need to pay MULTIPLE HUNDREDS of dollars for it, yet it STILL wouldn't be able to campare to what we'd had back then. So.sad!

Obsession for Men is a highly characterful spice-cinnamon-clove-nutmeg fragrance with a distinctive personality and strong recognizability. An absolute bullseye and exactly my kind of scent. Right from the opening, it has strong projection and you immediately notice a beautiful, yet not overly sweet cinnamon note alongside the lovely lavender. Accompanying the cinnamon and lavender is something dark, powdery, and spicy that gives the fragrance its special 90s charm and reminds me of the scent of makeup powder. What I especially like about this fragrance — and perhaps appreciate most — is the fact that it does not overload you with excessive sweetness right from the beginning, unlike 90% of today’s hyped winter fragrances. Instead, the subtle sweetness from amber and vanilla only appears in the drydown. Very well done. Compared to many modern winter fragrances, this scent feels far more mature, serious, and elegant, making it perfectly wearable in the office during winter. What you get here is an incredibly characterful cinnamon-clove-myrrh fragrance with phenomenal projection and longevity from a designer brand that, in 90% of cases, tends to produce fragrances with weaker sillage and performance. It is the perfect companion for autumn and winter dates: cinnamon, myrrh, and nutmeg give it a warm, cozy, and attractive aura, while the clove and that makeup-powder-like accord add a mature and sophisticated touch. A true winter gentleman with unmistakable character and style. One of the best and most mass-appealing old-school fragrances with some of the best EDT performance you can buy today. In terms of value for money alone, this fragrance ranks number one in my collection, because for so little money you get an incredible amount: an old-school winter fragrance that is not overloaded with sweetness, remains elegant, mature, yet seductive, while also possessing a very distinctive masculine character and high recognizability — with phenomenal sillage and longevity for an EDT. For me, Obsession for Men is the Eau de Toilette equivalent of Chanel Antaeus for winter. And that is a huge compliment.

Sweet vanilla and spicy cinnamon. Very smooth, aromatic, oriental, and balanced. My sample is vintage from '92. Longevity is excellent. Winter/evening scent. Classic and great if you like warm spicy/sweet fragrances. 7.5/10

CK Obsession is a warm, spicy, and intensely cozy classic that still holds its own decades after its release. What I love most is how comforting it is. It has this enveloping, grounding quality that makes it strangely calming to wear. Whether I’m wrangling feral cats, wild dogs, or hormonal women, Obsession always soothes the most restless soul. Smells like all your bills are paid and you just got multiple job offers.

VERY mature scent profile. Don't get me wrong, I like Obsession, but I'm over 50 and I think it smells like grandpas. I mean, like, what guys who were grandpas 40 years ago smelled like. But, they had it together. I'm not talking about those grandpas who wore Old Spice because they were Navy veterans and it had a ship on the bottle, and they thought it covered up the persistent nicotine fumes their skin and clothes absorbed while they hotboxed Camels everywhere in their car. I'm talking about the uncles of the Yuppies. The uncles who graduated college and worked in New York, not the ones who put on Polo Green or Stetson on Rotary Club night after a hard week of hay mowing or schoolbus driving in Peoria. Would I want to smell like that in 2026? Maybe. If I'm cruising milves older than me. Which I sometimes do, so, there's that. Even so, I'd want her to notice Obsession on me the first time we meet, but after getting her number, I'm wearing something a lot more contemporary and sexual, a lot less loud and fumey. Looking at you, Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee.

I have the alcohol free deodorant stick and it is very good. Very uplifting and long lasting. A strong vanilla spice mixture.

Anyone else notice how good these newer batches are? They have made it richer with more depth and smells like it did back in the day. Performance is fantastic and projection is perfect.

Wear it wherever and whenever. Buy it cheap at a rack store or discounter in the jumbo. Over-spray it and you'll get a strong and long lasting scent for cheap that women love. Even when beastly and projecting across the hall, it's pleasant far and close.

I have a vintage bottle from the 90's, it's very strong with crazy projection and longevity. It's a bit powdery but the cinnamon, vanilla and amber notes make up for it. The smells you get from the sillage are so good. It's a very heavy scent that only works in the colder fall months or snowy winter days.

This fragrance has a special place in my heart since this was my first proper fragrance I ever had. I used to wear it everywhere when I was in the 5th grade! It serves me as a nostalgic scent to remind me of the time when I was like a little businessman.
