Ex'cla-ma'tion

Its very okay. Synthetic peaches meet warm amber and quiet florals. It is really quite palatable after it dries down, and the notes seem to meld together and develop after a few minutes. However, that loud peach smell can be a bit headachey, and it is definitely the most forward note. It feels like a fruity teen body spray, with a whisper of more mature and sophisticated perfumery behind it.

This is camp as hell, if that's your thing. I'm too young to have been around for it, but this makes me imagine going clubbing in the 80's more than any other fragrance I've tried. Very glam/garish hairspray and latex in a fun way. As brightly synthetic as a neon pink sign over a bar. (The new bottle at least.) Probably wouldn't suit most occasions nowadays, but would be good if you wanna queen out. I'm butch though so this doesn't really suit my vibe enough to wear in public. I'd notice it on a femme with pink hair and glossy lips.

Ooh the greens really come to the fore here! The sparkly, aldehydic notes made my nose tingle. It was giving grassy with fruit pastels, but as it dried down, I could not help but notice how the scent evolved - strongly into something resembling freshly washed cotton shirts... laundry detergent. It's not too sweet; you can definitely pick up the cedar and the lily of the valley, and these notes alone drown out the traditionally more dominant rose or jasmine scent. I'm not even saying this as a bad thing - who doesn't love freshly laundered clothes - but there isn't any sillage, and it very quickly became a musky skin scent that I doubt will last more than an hour or two tops. It's a pleasant "clean" smell that I expect will need a regular top-up throughout the day. I like the quirky bottle, and with its size and weight, it's perfectly acceptable to carry around in a bag.

"THISSSSS!!! This... I bought a bottle of this for my mom (Christmas 2024), as this was one of her absolute favorite scents during my childhood, and both of us remember and love it fondly. I remember going into her room and stealing sprays of it, until she eventually bought me a body spray version for myself. It was my first "real" fragrance. Upon giving it to her, she said it didn't smell the same, and I agreed. I work in the fragrance world, and I told her it could very well have been reformulated since the '90s because a lot of fragrances with Lily of the Valley have undergone reformulations because of new regulations etc... She ended up giving it back to me a few months later as a re-gift situation. I'm a fragrance collector of sorts, so this wasn't out of the ordinary. Long story short... Lately, I've been going through my collection, wearing long-lost loves, and things I haven't touched for a while. Coming back to this gem nearly 2 years later — as it's had time to macerate and truly settle into itself — was something I wasn't fully prepared for. It had become what I remembered it to be. I feel such comfort in this scent. I can't wait to wear this (most likely dose myself in it, so there's no way she won't notice) next time I see my mom.

Ohhh the nostalgia. This was my signature scent in middle school. Strong, powdery and clean. It was cheap and my mom didn't mind buying it for me. As I got into high-school I evolved into Ralph Lauren, but this will always be my memory lane scent

Nice affordable fragrance with a striking bottle. Initial spray gives a screechy peach which makes me think of hairspray, however this quickly dies down to a creamy peachy vanilla with a hint of musk. Not one to overspray to be sure but not the horror others seem to think it (not to my nose anyway). Perhaps it helps that I wasn't around when this was initially popular so I have no prior feeling about it one way or the other.

If anybody has seen the movie anchorman with Will Ferrell this perfume smells like how they describe sex panther🤣 it stings the nostrils.

As the song about the Grinch goes....stink, stank, stunk. This perfume should stay in the 80s where it belongs. It's giving big Aqua net sprayed hair and neon spandex in the worst way.

My mom said that in middle and high school she and all of her cousins and friends used Exclamation. She said they'd use this and use Aussie sprunch spray in their hair that smelled like grapes. She has talked so highly of the nostalgia of this perfume that even smelling it myself I feel like its nostalgia in a bottle, though not quite MY nostalgia. She says it smells the exact same today even in the newer bottles. Powdery, clean, slightly floral apricot. That is what I get. I don't necessarily get peach which so many claim they smell. Maybe because when I think peach I think of fruity mouthwatering juicy peach. Maybe this is powdery peach. Regardless I enjoy this perfume and the price point as well! Definitely unique nowadays with most girls wearing their Kayali and bath and body works. This will definitely stand out as different now.

I smell powdery violet and heliotrope with a slight bit of vanilla and musky powdery woods. This is definitely related to Tresor.

What a gem. Blind bought Ex'cla-ma'tion for ridiculously low price when I saw the bottle and remembered that I used to play with it as a kid (when it was long empty though so I didn't remember the scent). Spraying it for the first time without much faith thinking it was yet another synthetic, vanilla perfume, I was gobsmacked. It literally made me smile. Such a nostalgic, comforting scent that makes me miss moments I haven't even experienced myself. Powdery, milky smooth vanilla with well blended peach and jasmine, not too heavy or too sweet. It's just like freshly washed white cotton sheets drying in the sun. Beautiful. I'm not that interested in new designer releases (or new releases in general with the market being so saturated) so (re)discovering older perfumes is slowly becoming my favourite thing. Maybe I'm just subconsciously yearning for times long gone, who knows, but this perfume does make me a bit more happy in these unhappy times.

The very first sniff of Exclamation! hits me with soft vanilla and a gentle powder, like the moment after a hug settles. It immediately puts me in the same family as Lancôme Trésor, but specifically the instant dry-down, that warm, intimate stage Trésor eases into. Now, does Exclamation! climb to that deep, emotional climax Trésor is known for? Not quite. But that tracks, considering Sophia Grojsman created both. This one feels like her youthful, slightly energetic take on that signature DNA. There’s a closeness to this fragrance — sweet, creamy, clean, and quietly floral. It has that little spark of youthfulness woven through the softness, like a playful wink inside a cozy moment. The creaminess stands out to me too…if it’s a creamy scent, I’m already halfway in love. All in all, Exclamation! is still a total yes for me. It’s soft, it’s pretty, it’s timeless in its own way , and honestly, it could absolutely still be a hit today. One spritz and you’re making a statement without even trying.

I remember my mom finding this in her closet she was already macerated she smelled good like a powdery peach and I remember my classmates saying that is smells really good, Who smells like perfume?

My mom was using it when I was like 13. It was enchanting and I loved to smell it. I bought it 20 years later, because I wanted to smell it one more time. There is still that one enchanting note somewhere there that is like a drug to me and I don’t know what that is, but apart from that there’s too much of everything else and it is just too powdery.

A beautiful fragrance thats powdery and sweet as ever, it REALLY has the texture of slightly warm clean velvety softness like a pillow or a comfortable bath robe. Beautiful baby powder! Really feels like an after shower type of smell, although I cannot say I detect any peach or apricot like the others do... but I feel like that's the fault of my nose! I would say that there's something really interesting going on with the heliotrope, but I can't really put my finger on it. I believe its what some commentors have explained as an almond-y or marzipan-like smell, but it's a bit harder for me to say. Either way it's gorgeous! Oh, just something to note: the bottle I bought was made in the U.S and had the "back" information printed on the front, but it is very easy to scratch that off with something that has an edge. Think scissors, knife or maybe a coin. So, if it bothers you, you could easily fix it like I did!

I got this one for my mom for Christmas off FragranceNet because she told me she used to wear it in middle school and she missed it… she loves it so much and it makes me so happy that she gets to wear it again! I haven’t smelled it myself but it’s memorable enough that she thought it up all these years later. She reports that it is just as peachy and powdery as she remembers!

Review for a new bottle. I was initially drawn to the fun packaging because it looks like if Depeche Mode designed a perfume bottle and I was drawn to the scent notes. As I sprayed it into the cap It had a beautiful juicy peach apricot note that is reminiscent of kracie peach shampoo or fruity herbal essence shampoo like the long term scent in the red bottle with raspberries-though there isn’t any raspberries but I got a bit in the opening, then a Japanese foaming face wash called Naive by kracie, j&j classic pink baby powder, and a beautiful soft very natural smelling vanilla almond marzipan goodness to wrap it up. The spice is very soft and blends with the other scents I detected. A fun clean scent If you enjoy vanilla, powdery, fruity, shampoo like combination fragrances. 5 out of 5

I bought it out of nostalgia. It's as "strong" and fun as it was in the past. The funny thing is that I never had it as a teenager (and I hated it, as it was not at all my style, I thought it smelled like artificial candy). Fast forward 35 years... and I realize that it's a vibe that I would love to replicate. So I bought it... and I stocked up in case it's discontinued (as mentioned on another review). I bought this newly, with the ”producer info and name on the same side” as has been discussed here. Smells beautiful, I am really impressed. For a powdery notes + apricot combo, this is a great cheapie!

I have a much older bottle and it’s very much powdery peachy vanilla goodness but I knew there was something else hiding in there to give it some spicy-ness and it’s definitely the cinnamon!

I loved this with a capital L when I was a teen. I think it smells like fun- it’s exciting and has a really addictive new-plastic smell that gives me 80s nostalgia. I think it’s a special fragrance for the young at heart. It’s really different- I really can’t compare it to anything else. It reminds me of fluro colours! Pure fun! - makes me smile.

Probably the perfume I hate the very most. Cloying, synthetic fruity vanilla with a very irritating powder effect. In the 90’s, I had the extreme displeasure of spending and hour in a car with someone who had drenched herself in it and it still makes me gag. Horribly chemical - you might as well just rub yourself all over with dryer sheets and save some money.

A very powdery peach scent. I don't love it, I don't hate it. But honestly, considering I got it for £3, I'm not going to complain.

@Kaleidosaur and @Scentalicious25 I had the same experience! Perhaps we received a bad batch? I bought the smallest mini bottle for the nostalgia, but my bottle smells really awful, not even like a fragrance but more like an industrial strength chemical. Very disappointed, as was hoping it would stir up memories of my carefree youth. It's winter over here in Aus, I should at least give it a chance to settle or macerate, however it's already made it's way into my declutter box as it's hard to envisage any improvement. From memory it was a lovely, uplifting, scent. Comforting and creamy, yet powdery at the same time, if that makes sense.

Interesting, you have to include the diacritics in the name or it doesn't come up on a Fragrantica search... I suspect they named this fragrance, 'Exclamation' because transitioning from a juicy peachy top to a powdery orris-heliotrope center was enough to generate gasps of surprise back in the 1980s. Maybe they should have pulled out all the stops and called it 'Interrobang?!' Of course, going from peach to powder isn't shocking anymore, but it isn't always necessarily pleasant either. If one approaches Exclamation from the wrong viewpoint, he or she might think the peach has started to rot and the powder has a fruity funk to it. But knowledge is power and an adventuresome mindset is key. Now that we know Exclamation undergoes, a once experimental, and still dramatic, change. We should do our best to appreciate this curious fugue of ever-changing notes, ...but fair is fair, and sometimes we just won't enjoy the ride. Even now, Exclamation is a scent to wear (or at least smell) when we want something other than anodyne, a little different, even a bit odd. Hmm? The printing on the front of the bottle sounds like a manfacturing mishap that the company decided was too expensive to redo. So much for maintaining brand image by rigorous quality control. If it really bugs you, try fixing it with white nail polish.

Horrendous... this is really terrible! First, the bottle is so ugly! The product information is printed on the front of the bottle right above the logo. What in the world?! Second, the smell is truly vile. It smells like scented Lysol, but a generic version. It's like diaper pail deodorizer. Where are the beautiful notes listed?

Awwww She’s That Girl I owned her back in the day but never appreciated her as much as I do now. Maybe it’s the new formulation or my personal nose journey. It’s almost like she’s travelled around the world for 30 yrs and has returned home and is become even more super relevant, stylish l, confident in her femininity and interesting It doesn’t feel dated actually alomost like a new line of scent. One thing the new bottle is odd tho ..has any one else noticed? the dot of exclamation mark on the bottle is now being printed on the same side as the make, mark and ingredients side so you can see all the writing on the front of the bottle the other side is completely white and blank, I don’t remember it being like this is this correct?

thanx for a trip down memory lane :) i totally forgot about this scent which i use to wear a lot after high school in the 80's...........thanx to the review i just read & others its on my wish list...........i love buying & wearing "down memory lane " scents :)
