smells like a nice hair mask
This is a lovely uplifting summer scent but I don't think it's as "blind-buy" safe as some of the reviews seem to suggest. The longevity isn't great (it seems to last more on my clothes or on the paper strip) than on my skin; and it also veers feminine because of the jasmine note.
The opening reminds me of a pear candy that I used to love as a kid and then it dries down into a simple but beautiful powdery iris scent. Really nice but the lasting power is kinda meh
Ilio is such a unique scent in a good way. It's light, airy, sweet and fresh. I put the paper tester on the side in my room and I keep getting a waft of it. It's so addictive! I could bathe in it. Would be such a nice laundry scent, a candle, body lotion etc I want it all!!
I normally don’t leave reviews but I just had to with this fragrance. This is so unique and beautiful and as it dries down (on paper) it becomes so aquatic and watery and fresh. To me it reminds me of the botanic gardens where I live specifically the areas with water in spring and summertime. It’s such a nostalgic, happy, summer scent. But I do agree with others that it’s limited to warmer weather. I still think I might try out a travel sized bottle because I think I’m in love with it!!! Just so joyous, I haven’t smelled a perfume like it ever before
Deliciously soft and airy in the opening but not the biggest fan of the sour and powdery dry down.
Fresh and light, but a good amount of powdery notes. Smells like if baby powder was left out in the sun at a coastal place for a long time. For orris lovers, this one is buttery and smooth. I just happen to not be an orris lover.
It smells like a memory.
I absolutely love this perfume. It smells so clean, soft, and comforting without being overly powdery or having that makeup-like scent. It just hits differently. This isn’t a perfume you wear to impress anyone—it’s one you wear purely for yourself, to feel happy and calm. It’s perfect for everyday use, especially when you want something light and inoffensive. A beautiful choice for the office too.
This is my favorite Diptyque fragrance from the ones I've tried so far, and it was love at first sniff. I love how delicate the composition is. The prickly pear is fantastic and works so well with the iris. I love it.
Something really weird happened with this fragrance... I ADORED it, summer in a bottle, then all of a sudden I was repulsed and had to give my bottle away because the thought of it made me nauseous. Very odd. I smell it on others and it's fab though, perhaps just my skin chemistry changed. It's very summery and is exactly what you think - Italian summers by the water.
I reviewed one of the new AdP Blu Med series flankers yesterday and remarked that AdP are a house I love because of the emotional connection they pack into their juices and I feel the same way about Diptyque as well. Ilio is a fragrance that defines what unisex perfumery with a universal emotional connection is about. It has always been one of the Diptyques I've enjoyed most and my partner says the same thing. Yes it only lasts four hours and yes it is expensive, but there is a refinement and happiness in the way it smells that means it is one that will be in my collection for years to come. Between us, my partner and I have almost finished a bottle in less than a year and I will be rebuying this one for sure, along with Tam Dao which is also running dangerously low, and which I will do a review for soon. Funnily enough, I had no idea there was a prickly pear accord in Ilio. I've always just thought it was a bergamot head with an iris heart and some kind of heavier floral in the base. I have no idea what prickly pear smells like so cannot pick it out in this but it smells great. Ilio is a fragrance I always associate with London. If you've ever walked along the south bank from Waterloo to Borough Market in the morning, with the breeze coming in off the river you'll know the vibe I am talking about. Walking because I have time and because the tube is too busy and I'm a little too hungover. It isnt cold, but it is not warm. Sunglasses on, though they are not really needed. AirPods in, listening to Massive Attack or Fleetwood Mac, so I cannot hear the morning heavies grinding out of the stack over London to follow the river up to Heathrow. There is the smell of people, coffee, water, mud and money on the air. I have no idea why Ilio makes that connection for me but that is where I am in my head when I wear this, wearing jeans, Chelsea boots, shirt, sweater and a long wool blend overcoat. Three Word Summary - Androgynous, Feelgood Iris Layering suggestion - I'm layering it with a base of Delphinus by Creed and it works because it freshens up the heavier Creed but the iris and powdery vanilla and almond notes work so well together. delightful summer scent, complex but not overtly. the pear is prickly and the vibes are high. sillage is terrible which is the only con otherwise i feel like a sexy, light, evasive cactus
It’s a bright prickly pear splash with a soft, pastel glow. Fresh, airy, slightly green, and never syrupy. The iris smooths everything into a velvety and powdery aura. Quite lovely.
Really nice, light summer fragrance but does remind me a bit of the spray you used to use to clean out a hamster cage.
I love this scent so much! It’s fascinating how the juxtaposition of fruity, fresh, and powdery notes can come together. It feels incredibly juicy. I grew up eating prickly pear because we had plenty of that fruit in my region, and we also used to make juice with it. This perfume is so juicy that it almost feels like smelling prickly pear juice while drinking it straight from the glass.
This is such a lovely, summery, fresh, aquatic scent. Smells like being out by the pool all day without evoking cheap sunscreen of chlorine. Unfortunately, I think it's a bit of a one-trick-pony and can only be worn for a few months out of the year (in my part of the world), and has a very weak projection and lasting power so I will not be purchasing a full sized bottle. LOVE my sample for when it's sunny and humid, though!
Smells like pear. Lasts a couple minutes when the stars allign. I reckon i've smelt similar to it before, and the previous comment says marc jacobs daisy, I think theyre right. So, imo, this is overpriced.
istg this smells like marc jacobs eau so daisy kiss
I get Iris and violet and almost nothing else. Scent gone in an hour. Maybe I have cheap body spray brain rot but this is neither memorable enough nor strong enough to justify the price unless several hundred dollars is nothing to you…
My favorite Diptyque fragrance. I find it sweet and powdery and smells like a bright summer day. My go to for a humid summers day. I do tend to like stronger fragrances so I tend to wish I could get more power but layering a body balm or lotion can help with that
This is beautiful. As with all of my dyptique fragrances, this needed to sit for a while to show its power. The watery prickly pear is so lovely and uplifts the purple notes. I do pick up the sunscreen vibe but I enjoy it. This also layers well and compliments my other iris perfumes in ways they wouldn’t on their own. I feel if you layer body oils and creams before applying the longevity of this is quite good! I love this and l I would 100% buy this again!
love at first sight, not the sunscreen-y, sticky kind of love but a light and fresh one. although the citrusy bergamot note isn't very pronounced in this fragrance, the combination of a slightly juicy prickly pear and a powdery iris is to die for. as someone who isn't a fan of white flower scents, i don't smell much jasmine either, which is a win for me! this has become my go-to fragrance on a hot summer day, would definitely repurchase next year.
I like its fresh and powdery scent. It is not overpowering, but gives a hint of mysterious character to the totality of the person.
The feeling is impecable, fresh but still grounded, it opens green with the prikly pear and turns softer with the velvety iris taking the center place as time goes by, reminding me of a heat wave in summer. Fades so fast you can barely enjoy it thought, I wish it was just a bit better on duration and sillage because this is for sure signature material. I agree with a lot of the comments on the description and feeling.
I was expecting more juiciness for some reason, but I almost get more of a sunscreeny vibe from it when I get whiffs of it here and there, not like coconut scented spf but like how certain spfs that are unscented just have that sunscreen smell. It still smells nice I suppose, I do smell some fruity and floral notes that come through, but I’m certainly not wowed by it. To each their own!
I got this as a sample from my purchase of a full bottle of Fleur de Peau, and I thought I hated it at first, but then my nose kept craving it. It's become my after-work perfume in this summer weather. It smells so natural, and maybe that threw me off at first because it's kind of rare nowadays. But to me, this smells like mimosa and violet with a bit of aquatic. I doubt I'll get a full bottle, but I do think I'll miss the sample when I'm done with it.
I really wish the performance on this was better because the scent itself is absolutely divine. It's such a unique summer fragrance - something for the more sophisticated way of life. Ilio opens with an irresistible juiciness thanks to that prickly pear, and then the Iris quickly takes over, creating a veil of powderyness that almost feels fuzzy and tingly on the nose. It's so sensational it sends shivers down your spine. The bergamot is present the entire wear helping to keep things bright and sparkly while to my nose, the jasmine sits more in the background of this one. I understand this being an EDT as an artistic choice. It keeps it light and breezy for hot summer days. But I do wish they offered an EDP because it fades after about an hour or two. Nonetheless, I will definitely be securing a full bottle of this. It's just too special and unlike any other summer fragrance in my collection. Rating: 8/10
The smell of a dewy summers morning in the south 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 - Opens up with bright, floral, fresh, and juicy combo of iris and a very realistic prickly pear accord. As it begins to dry down the green iris begins to take more of a center stage as the prickly pear boosts up the inherent freshness of the profile, all the while shots of white musks and a slightly waxy and unlisted magnolia note support the base. Doesn't change much in the deep dry down besides losing a fair bit of its water-like freshness as the florals truly take over. 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - Ever since I went and visited the southwestern United States 4 or so years ago I've been obsessed with prickly pear things. They're so juicy and sweet and one of the most unique fruits you can ever find yourself eating after hiking for 10 hours in a hot ass canyon. That being said, sourcing high quality and fresh prickly pear on the east coast is hard and expensive, and so when I stumbled upon this at my local Nordstrom 2 or so summers ago I was instantly brought back to my time in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. If you've been out west, or want to get an idea of what the west smells like in the late spring, this might be as close as you're gonna get. 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 - Moderate performance and projection that actually come alive in the summer time. Performance is a consistent 6.5ish hours no matter the climate, but in the summer I get really great projection off me, but I usually spray way too much of this anyways. 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 9/10. 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 - Summer picnics with friends and loved ones; White T-Shirt + Jeans/Summer Dress bougee brunch; When you want to come off as the rich but still fun family member 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐞 - Every Morning by Sugar Ray 𝐓𝐋𝐃𝐑 - Watery, Juicy, & Fruity Prickly Pear + Green, Fresh Iris + Variety of Florals + Shots of White Musks. The holy grail of prickly pear perfume and one of the most unique summer fragrances on the market right now. A wonderful fruity, fresh, and floral perfume that is a must try for iris lovers or those looking for a fruity fragrance for the heat, but want a classier option. Top 3 from Diptyque. 𝐅𝐘𝐈 - For those who have not smelled prickly pears, it smells like you took the musky, airy sweetness of a bartlett pear and mixed it with the refreshing water-y green of a cucumber and added a slight tropical flair like in dragon fruit; all with slight floral nuances depending on the region you pick the pear from (southeastern US and southwestern US prickly pears have different nuances).
Blind bought this back when it was just a limited edition and everyone was hyping it up which is MY FAULT. Adore diptyque but this is probably their weakest scent. Its nice if you've never smelled other iris perfumes before. Just nothing special
