Amazing fragrance for spring and early summer. Not sure what the other reviews are talking about, because what i get is a very aldehydic, soapy rose, like laundry detergent in the best way possible. I can understand how this reminds people of their grandparents, but considering that my grandpas never made me do their laundry, i don't have those memories.

One of the reviews below me mentioned something sweet like Honey and I’m glad I’m not alone. It took me by surprise.

It smells like old man.

Ok, this is not what I was expecting. The fragheads community describes this as a "soapy beast", a nostalgic scent that reminds people of Dove soap bars, laundry detergent, or clean sheets. Nope, nope, NOPE. It has a very heavy rose scent mixed with something sweet, like honey, and it all becomes cloying. I don't get the soap at all! I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if there's something wrong with my nose, but I can barely detect those top notes. If you're expecting a clean, soapy scent like Blanche from Byredo, with a hint of rose, this is noooot it. It's definitely not a clean, summery scent. Not a safe blind buy.

I got a 15ml tester of Exit the King because the name intrigued me. I finished EtK way faster than I thought I would, then I purchased the 50ml bottle, and I've just emptied it today. Most people won't like the way it smells upon first spray, due to the sharpness of the aldehyde combined with the spiciness of the pepper and timur. Personally, I love the way it smells; it's heavy on the soap but dries down to a nice floral scent that stays with you for a pretty long time. The floral scent might remind people of their grandmas? Listen, I was born and raised in Hong Kong, old people here smell like menthol and camphor (which I also like), so I don’t really associate the scent with the elderly. But I like it; it's super comforting to me, like a fabric softener lol. I like the ambroxan because it adds an airy touch to the scent, but my friend said it smelled a little like a plasticky magazine, so maybe that and the industrial soap smell might be off-putting for some. I usually like spraying this onto my pyjamas after I change into them, or onto my clothes before I leave for work. On skin, it lasts about ~5-6 hrs, and on fabric, i.e., a winter coat or scarf, it lasts longer than a workday.

I love how distinct each stage of this perfume is from the next. For me, the rose is very strong in the first two acts with some brightness and spice, in the second act the white florals and soap are stronger for me, and then it all mellows out really nicely into a clean but cozy scent. I wouldn't buy a bottle but I like it well enough

It smells like folding the fleshly clean clothes from grandma.

oh my God. this smells EXACTLY like my grandpa.

I've been obsessed by the ELDO brand of late and have been trying out a bunch of their signatures (mostly through the discovery sets or samples). Idetect across a lot of their scents is a play on rose where you don't get the obvious in your face smell but a hint or playful variant. Here the rose is faint but very much there, adding a sweetness to what is otherwise a very laundry-fresh, safe, and to me, slightly feminine leaning, scent. It does create a nice warm cocoon around you and has a lot of staying power for a fresh scent. For those who have tried or like Lazy Sunday Morning, this is a slightly more in-your-face version of that. Definitely like, but not a love.

Boring rose smell, feeling like sitting next to some old lady...

Selling a 100ml, located in Germany.

This smells like sitting next to a king, but his robes are so big that your face is in the fabric, and you can smell his cologne (or whatever they wore back then). This scent leans more masculine in my opinion, 8/10.

This is beaaautifull, a fresh clean rose scent. in the opening this is a very fresh and soapy , just out of the shower type scent. I would describe it as a "typical blue scent" but then it turns more mature with a good amount of rose and a bit spicy. After a couple of hours it gets to this clean musky rose that sits very light on my skin. To me this is the best summery rose fragnance i have smelled yet. Its perfectly blended in my opinion. The king enters the shower, rose pettles float around in the water he is standing in, cleaning himself with a fresh bar of white/spicy soap on a hot summer day. Will def get a full bottle soon because i cant stop reaching for my travel size

The ultimate "fresh-out-of-the-shower" scent. Exit the King was an instant love for me. On the first spray, it presents as a remarkably lean, elegant, and effortlessly fresh soapy scent. It manages to take the DNA that we know from classic "blue" shower gel fragrances and elevates it into something much more refined—think of a luxurious, hard white bar of soap, crisp and sharp. After wearing it through a full day, my rating hasn't wavered—it’s a perfect 10/10. On skin, it develops into a spicy, aromatic soap with delicate floral and aldehydic nuances that make the whole experience incredibly uplifting. It’s clean, it’s professional, and it has that "put-together" vibe that is perfect for my daily life.. For the price, this is a steal for a niche fragrance of this quality. If you’re looking for a signature scent that smells like you’ve just stepped out of a high-end shower and are ready for a productive day, this is it. Note: I don't actually own this fragrance; I am writing this review based on my experience with the official Etat Libre d'Orange discovery set.

I was considering getting "Lazy Sunday Morning" and saw that many people voted this as a similar fragrance. Because I like this brand, I thought I'd try it first for comparison before making a purchase. At first, I was expecting a fresh, musky rose scent, but I was surprised by a green, aquatic smell that felt like being in a public pool or a gym shower. However, after about 20 minutes, it started to dry down into a beautiful, fresh, and fancy scent. It made me feel like a rich man in a fancy hotel room having a cozy morning. It has good longevity, and the scent eventually shifts into something incredibly clean and sophisticated; yet also a bit soapy and green in a way that's hard to describe. It's an old fashioned masculine leaning smell, in a good way! It's a complex blend and definitely not a blind buy. As you'll see in other reviews, many people associate the smell with a bathroom cleaning detergent. If you can move past that association, you might actually really love it.

The king has abdicated. The staff rushed in and be disinfecting the throne. Unfortunately, the King left a whole ass imprint of roses behind. Still slaying after quitting. 💅 Tried to apply at office once, failed because the King still be punching me with his flowers the whole day.

I'm glad that out of other sweet heavy vanilla smells of ELdO, this one is actually refreshing.

Inoffensive 90s bar soap scent. A little peppery and more masculine leaning.

Oof, to me it smells like a kilogram of patchouli that's been run through the washing machine. You take it out, and it's clean and detergent-like, but it's still patchouli- just soggy and wet now. It has a green core surrounded by aldehydes. The blend of all the notes also creates an almost rubbery, tire-like smell. Weird and uncanny, and not in a good way.

Анонім★★★★★

the initial spray is screechy dove hand soap, which then dries down to a musty synthetic patchouli. maybe it doesn’t work with my skin chemistry but this is not appealing. smells like the bathroom in an apothecary

Evokes a dead mall smell or an art museum that was recently cleaned. Your friend that drove you home in high-school that was a neat freak. Clean but hiding something. Skeletons in the closet for sure but the door is very pretty.

I have mixed feelings about this perfume. One the one hand I really like the opening. It’s almost the perfect soapy, your skin but better scent to me. It’s fresh and clean with just a little floral and some warmth from the pink pepper, and if it just smelled like that the whole time I’d already have a bottle. But about an hour or so later, it starts getting a little funky. Normally I really like a moss base note so I don’t think that’s it, not sure what it is, but it gets a really musty undertone that combined with the soap and floral make me a little nauseous. I really want to like it but despite the fun and fresh start it begins to smell like rotting fruit to me and it’s also really long lasting so it even holds up after showering and you literally have to scrub it off. Wish this was for me but unfortunately not

I love this community, everytime I try a new perfume and it reminds me of something bizarre, I scroll down to the comment section here and I will always find someone who recognized it before me. To me this smells like an east European public toilet. Maybe even like an older man who just passed you by while you are waiting in line. It’s heavy in the rose and moss. Unique but I definitely don’t smell the LSM by MMM or soapiness. More like heavy retro toilet cleaning detergent.

A really fancy and likable piece of soap. Fresh, clean, soapy floral perfume that many of my friends actually like. My girlfriend actually complimented this (which is very rare) and urged me to get the full bottle. OK to somewhat good longevity (around 6hrs @4-5 sprays around neck, 27C warmer days). I might actually get the full bottle, if I can get a good deal online.

such a gorgeous soapy, floral fragrance. Not sure its something i can pull off tho, the strong soapy, alkaline-like smell definitely gives off old lady vibes

Анонім★★★★★

so boring it doesn't even smell soapy really it just smells bad its not even weird or interesting its like patchouli and gross old lady floral no thank you

Welcome to ELDO boarding school. Classes start at 8:45 a.m., and no lateness will be tolerated. Exit The King, as you might have guessed, evokes the image of a prestigious boarding school for me. That's just a vision, because I've never been a boarder, and I've never attended a renowned school. This absolutely key soap note is wonderful, vintage chic, serious, miles away from what we would call "soapy" in 2026. And it's thanks to this chypre accord, which imbues the soap with a unique, rigorous, and mature personality. My partner loved it, even though he's not particularly sensitive to perfumes. We both appreciate that this scent is clean but not truly fresh (even if it is a little), that it's agreeable but not generic, nostalgic yet elegant. At the end of the day, the chypre predominates, without the soap itself having disappeared. Thanks to ELDO for this unique creation.

對我來說是一塊肥皂上淋上濃濃的蜂蜜! 確實靠太近聞會有點刺鼻 所以沒辦法噴在上衣領 靠鼻子太近一直聞會受不了😂

airy clean soapy rose with touch of spice the base blends in and complements everything beautifully , great for daily reach or as a gift

Soapy scent but the mossy note makes smell more like vintage clean masculine perfume .
