Weak longevity on skin, long lasting on clothes. Intimate sillage. Suitable for autumn and spring. I love Iris. But this one isn't for me. Prada L'Homme is the GOAT.
This one just wasn't for me. It was also a blind buy so I'd be happy for someone else to have it. No box. Hardly used.
Honestly, I don't like the basil note in it. It makes this fragrance slightly sour and annoyingly green for me.
Super versatile and to me more attractive than Prada L'homme etc. Very fresh almost minty opening, but the drydown has the orris and gentle sweetness of the EDP which means this could likely be used all year round.
Alright, time to review this for real now. This is an iris scent built for the office. It's not very lipsticky and you get that cooling mintish accord which I assume is the basil. It's like a subtle "toothpaste" touch that smells really cool and green. It's very professional and you can even pull this off casually on a plain colored shirt. In my opinion though, it just lacks depth. It's not really trying to push above it's price point.
I don’t get the minty freshness of basil, however the iris is pleasantly fresh & subtle. There’s sweetness, powdery coumarin/ slight fruity bergamont mix throughout, it’s a youthful gentleman profile like 90’s early 2000’s style.. EDT Intense on me smells like a lite version of Acqua di Parma Sandalo & Guess Seductive homme deodorant spray. The use of the title ‘Intense’ is an over statement, this fragrance is very polite.
It's a quality scent but I don't like mint and there is so much of it in this, without it it would smell great but unfortunately it just makes me feel uneasy, it's one for ebay when I get the time.
@catahoula three comments below - i feel your pain. See if Mizensir's bois iridiscent scratches that itch for dior homme eau.
I think this is a great daily driver type scent. Smell great get on with your day type signature worthy profile. For example I sprayed this at 8am today and it is now 18.15 I still get it on my wrist as a skin scent. It is not a huge projector and is office safe, and will last a full work day. Smells great to me but that is subjective. Has a basil note in the opening that I like but I have seen others reviewing saying that put them off. It starts fresh with the basil but becomes sweeter with the iris note, but not cloying sweet. Just sweeter than the fresh opening. Prada L'homme sweet. I only have one other Givenchy currently and I prefer that (Prive) but it is date type scent whereas this is a daily driver and a great one. Try it out. I only got a 60ml bottle to give it a try and put in the rotation but I must admit I enjoy wearing this one over a lot a daily drivers
Somehow manages to be fresh while maintaining that beautiful rich creamy iris throughout. The cypress is prevalent and works so well here. Elegant, classy, understated. I really really like this one
If you want to smell sophisticated and love a creamy iris this is the one for you. Beautiful scent profile, so classy but versatile I have nothing like it in my collection. Gorgeous
Its the colder weather version of Dior Homme Eau for Men, now discontinued & also owned by LVMH; Givenchy EDT intense is a great 3 season scent that makes the entire Givenchy mens line useless once you get this one. Its a shame Givenchy is focusing on the Society line because their recent Society Sport entry isnt great. I wish the Gentleman line would introduce an EDT intense L'eau or Eau Fraiche . . Because adding citrus or aquatics to this DNA would make it identical to the legendary Dior Homme Eau For Men. . . Such a blunder that Dior under LVMH & Givenchy are neglecting warm weather iris. . . Seriously this stuffs great, compared to the other gentleman entries, this one has the best Iris note by far. EDP the spice & vanilla make the iris barely detectable. Yet intense EDT the iris is there the entire duration. This stuff is immaculate & I wish it was a 4 season scent but I still wear it during summer, this stuffs youthful but also mature, its sweet but not cloying or too sweet. Its basil & cypress add a crispness to it thats just stellar. GIVENCHY, owned by LVMH. . . You need to either bring back Dior Homme Eau for Men or release a warm weather iris, youre missing out on a large market... people still hunt down old bottles of it! This is literally a 90% copy of it & I love it
Wearing it right now, just blind bought a bottle. This is good, really good. Fresh lipsticky
My favorite Gentleman along with Society Ambree. A very pleasant scent with good performance and can easily be a signature scent. I was surprised how good this smells and how it differs from the other flankers. It's not spectacular by any means, but it was an instant 'wow' for me. Reminds me of Issey Miyake Fushion a bit.
The basil mixed with the iris and the sweetness creates this very realistic blueberry note. I doubt many will interpret it this way but in the opening it’s uncanny.
lo huelo y me da nostalgia PER FU MON
This is a good office fragrance and will be group in that category. But it is much more than that. It's different from what office scents are . It's safe but not safe that it's boring like the others. This one definitely has more character and is more versatile. It reminds me of Dior Eau Men and Prada L'homme but fresher and a little brighter. Then it reminds me a bit of Phantom Intense on the dry down. Except more mature and less sweet. The iris isn't as creamy as the dior and it's not as strong as the Prada. At first this smells fantastic. It's fresh a little bright with fresh spices and a touch of sweetness. I wasn't expecting the opening but it smells great. It does evolve pretty quick. After a couple minutes the cardamom iris and the herbal sweetness come up, and it does pack a bit of a punch. The cardamom iris and coumarin take center stage for the rest of the life span of the fragrance. I love how this was kept at a cologne strength because it keeps it from being too strong to where these notes would just be too much . Once this stage of the cologne mellows out you are left with a light cardamom iris creamy light sweetness. I believe that making this a cologne instead of something much stronger really makes it work great . It keeps it fresh and more versatile. Any stronger and this would be a cold spring fragrance. This is a bit too sweet and creamy for warm summers but the rest of the year you are good. Performance is pretty good. You get solid projection for the first 2 hours. At about the 4th hour it becomes a close scent . It lasts a good 6 hours total. That is on skin 1 spray per spot. 5 sprays. I went heavier with 8 sprays and got a out the same 6 hours but definitely stronger on the skin. I like it. To me most of the gentleman line up smells like old man. This one does smell mature but you won't think 45 year old boss . More like mature 30+ professional. I give this a 6.5/10 . I will maybe revisit this review in a month or 2
This one is the first Givenchy fragrance I bought, it is currently my signature scent. I do not regret it. I plan to get all of them, I think Nathalie Lorson is a genius, she's my favourite parfumer. It is fresh, clean, a bit sour on my skin (but in a good way), and it is constantly getting more and more sweet after application.
After a year of trying this scent, I love it. Its my favorite from Givenchy & my personal favorite iris DNA! The basil & cypress really elevate it A LOT, its a great 3 season scent & stellar! Honestly, Givenchy is really suffering with their warm weather scents, like the new society sport which is terrible! What they need to do is release a sport version of EDT intense. . Its literally a heavier version of dior homme eau for men. Which was sadly discontinued & also owned by LVMH! Seriously, if they used this fragrance & added more citrus and more of an airy level to it they'd have a legendary fragrance! This is Literally the cold weather version of Dior Homme Eau for Men! Come on Givenchy! Step it up! This is iris done better than anything else & one of my favorite fragrances of all time!
Sweet fragrance, easy wear same DNA like givenchy society, intense,..... Easy blind buy if you like sweet and touch of wood ,classy, rich in general very nice perfume.
The basil + iris combo is the protagonist in this fragrance, even more than the cardamom and cedar. As a result, the fragrance is quite fruity and refreshing, perfect for hot weather. It's a high quality fragrance. I'll probably be gifting this one to a friend.
Either I lost the ability to smell it, or it is genuinely very weak, and in both cases this is a major flaw. Regarding the scent, it smells completely different on my skin compared to on paper. On my skin, it is creamy, resembling tonka, with light cardamom and iris at almost equal levels. On paper, the creamy aspect is lighter, while the cardamom and herbal notes are stronger. In both cases, the iris note is unfortunately light, except in the opening, where iris and bergamot stand out for only a few seconds. Scent 7/10, because it leans creamy and the iris is light, while I was looking for a fresh iris fragrance. It is not exactly that, but relatively close. Projection 2/10, you have to put your nose right on it to smell it. This is an initial evaluation after the first use.
So I typically never write reviews on fragrances, mostly just read them - but I have just made a shocking discovery. This fragrance (which weirdly enough isnt even my favorite from the line) reminds me so much of Reflection Man by Amouage. Trust me, if you own both try them and you'll see the comparison. Not 1 to 1, but definitely like 70% close.
I think i don't like this powdery iris. Sillage and performance is ok. It reminds me of Ferragamo F Black wich is much better i think.
the eau de parfum version is much richer of smell nothing special I find
I really liked this fragrance. I blind bought it because I love iris, but here the iris is more like a sidekick to the cypress note. Still, everything blends really well and gives a nice fresh vibe. Just keep in mind it doesn’t shine in hot weather, and the performance wasn’t that great for me.
Givenchy Gentleman Intense is a sleeper hit, it's DNA is about 90% similar to JPG Paradise Garden but without the coconut and less sweet. It's a great fragrance and in my opinion tied for first place with 3 other Givenchy mens fragrances; Pi, Gentleman Society Extreme & Gentleman Intense. I love this fragrance, it's refined, last all day and isn't offensive, it's woody but crisp like a fresh fragrance. It's sweet but only just slightly. It's A true Iris fragrance. ONLY NEGATIVE; is the customer service in the u.s.a. they'll forget items, samples & promotions then not read your email, blame you & offer no compensation, worst of all the Givenchy Beauty customer support manager Harpreet does not read emails, she ignores return request thus artificially extending return window. It's corupt and bad business practices, they hire foreign workers who cant speak english & copy paste responses, i emailed them requesting a return & they responded "thank you for being a black ribbon member your order has arrived". The parent company LVMH obviously doesn't care. Dont purchase directly from them. BE WARNED. I had to send 50 emails, 6 phone calls, 2 calls to Givenchy headquarters in Paris and Facebook message & my issue never was resolved.
One of my favorites from the Gevinchy line up!! I wore this fragrance to dinner with my wife tonight and it smells really good. If you like Iris like I do then you should definitely grab this one because it's a great fragrance that you could wear all year long except for high heat. Herbal, spicy, sweet fragrance that last a very long time and it's not expensive if you purchase on discount websites because I paid under 60.00 for a 100ml bottle on Amazon and I blind bought it because I'm familiar with the Gevinchy brand and so far I haven't tried anything from the house that I don't like.
I like this profile but I am not crazy about it. It performs great and I the iris+cardamom combination, gives it like an almost sweet tobacco accord, guess the sweetness is coming from the coumarin. The dry down is not my favorite part but it does well with the cedar adding a cozy texture with the bit of sweetness left. I can definitely detect a good amount of ambroxan here (not listed) necessary to emphasize the woody profile but I don’t really like the ambroxan added to the whole composition if that makes any sense. Ngl it kinda gives a cheap deodorant vibe during far dry down because of the ambroxan. Overall it’s a good fragrance, try before you buy.
I thought an "eau de Toilette intense" was just another excuse for Givenchy to make a profit off another release, but after reading the note/accord description I was curious. I think this one is pretty good. One of the best from the Gentleman line in my opinion and certainly not redundant. The opening is a dominated by iris and a little bit of bergamot, but the iris isn't challenging at all. As it dries it becomes increasingly woodier, creamy and a little sweet- the tonka is defintley there but never cloying. For some reason this combination of notes on my skin reminds me of the smell of artificially flavored Banana candy. Not typically something I would want to smell like but I am oddly intrigued. I definitely think this is the best "office safe" option from the gentleman line- and even though most fragrances regarded as "office" friendly are sometimes boring or plain, I certainly don't think that GG EDT intense should be limited to just office settings- I find this one quite versatile, but it works great for those work/office or school settings. I own Prada L'homme EDT and Liam grey from Lattafa and I find those ones to be similar to this. As if they had a baby, but the fig accord from Liam is removed. Decent stuff.
