One of a few fragrance most people here get right... orangey citrus and yet not overly sweet, and rather weak. It's not going to wow anyone since it's a very natural common scent like peeling a clementine. Yet it's still on the market so it has fans. 100% summer scent.

This starts out with a refreshing blast of floral- citruses then eventually becomes very subtle.Don’t count on this lasting all day the most you’ll get outta five sprays is 3-5 hours. Longevity isn’t the best so this makes for a good gym- yard work or around the house fragrance. Bottle design is very cool and easy to grasp

this smells like what the bottle looks like. like a rattan basket or chair. I don't really smell any Mandarin or anything like that it all just comes together to smell like rattan to me. It even comes conveniently wrapped in the rattan I'm talking about so you can smell for yourself.

It opens with a pretty realistic hit of orangish citruses (clementine, tangelo, and mandarin but it's hard to differentiate). As it settles in the heart, a nice combination of spices (marjoram, thyme, and ginger) provide a dry soapy herbaceousness. The base is soft musky mixed woods. None of the Artisan line last very long, of which I have three, but they do extremely well in the gym and short outing environments.

This is a perfume that was incredibly popular in South Korea about 10 years ago. The scent is nice, but it's a bit weak, so you shouldn't be stingy; you have to spray it generously.

Artisan is overall a very solid fragrance. Its citrusy, slightly floral smell is distinct when you first apply it. It's also not too sweet, unlike most floral fragrances, which I like. I also love what they have done with their bottle designs, like all John Varvatos cologne bottles - beautifully stitched together and relatively easy to hold. However, the longevity of Artisan is short - around 3 to 4 hours, at best. I also don't like the bottle's atomizer, as it comes off quite easily and its spray is too liquid, easily sliding off the skin. I would suggest applying this fragrance to your clothes instead of skin and reapply every few hours if necessary.

I loved Artisan. The scent is incredibly refreshing. I was looking for a tangerine-heavy fragrance because I’ve always liked tangerines a lot, and this is exactly that. It smells very high-quality and natural, with no artificial vibes at all. Perfect for summer and warm spring days. It’s advertised as a fragrance for men, but to me it’s pretty much unisex with a slight masculine lean. I don’t see any reason why women couldn’t wear it unless they specifically prefer very feminine compositions. The performance is rather weak. It feels vibrant and projects well for around 2–3 hours, but after that it becomes a very close skin scent. Overall, for me the smell outweighs any downsides. It’s affordable enough to reapply occasionally.

I mean it's alright

sat on it for a few months and now another update..I don't like it that much anymore. The powdery sweetness is annoying in a cheapish and almost cloying way. It kinda smells like bathroom cleaner or some kind of cheap toilet bowl fragrance, or an air freshener. it's just not that great quality honestly. I've definitely smelled worse in quality, but for a designer.....ehh it should be better The opening is really nice though. it opens up with a very realistic frozen orange note that is reminiscent of like a frozen orange icee or something. Almost like a sweet citrus frozen lemonade. In the opening it reminds me a lot of Jimmy Cho man ice. Then it dries down into a powder, and that orange note becomes much more synthetic The powder becomes dominant, with the synthetic orange vying for prominence but never reaching it over the powder. It's like a talcum powder or a baby powder, and not in a good way. Reminiscent of Ferragamo F Black minus the lavender note. If you took F Black and you subtracted the pepper, added a slight herbal vibe, and then swapped the lavender note with an orange note, then you would get this..very baby powder dominant. Powdery frags tend to come across cheap and feminine and this is no exception There are herbs in this, it does give across an herbaceous vibe, which almost saves the fragrance but not really. The synthetic orange with the powder dominate. If they toned down the powder, kept that realistic orange vibe from the opening, and dialed up the herbs then it would be a lot better Ultimately it's not bad, but not great either. It's ok for a dumb reach office or casual scent. If you're a fan of powdery frags then you'll like this no doubt. I am not a big fan of powdery frags. I think they tend to lean feminine I have been a fan of Varvatos fragrances but sometimes their quality isn't the best Performance is pretty good for an edt though. Good projection and longevity I would say this is safe for ages 20+ 5/10

I found this at my local Burlington after looking for it for about a few years and man… it smell smells almost the same as it did before when I found it for the first time, but to me, it comes off as intense and it’s super strong and that says a lot, considering on the type to spray about three or four times. One spray was enough to give me a headache. The citrus aroma is very pure and strong, the notes are very distinguishable and comes off as pure. While longevity for some people claim it lasts about an hour or two, the first time I sprayed it on my collar it lasted me about four hours or so. I personally think it comes off as very strong, but I know a few people enjoy the profile and middle notes more than I do.

Refreshing, nice and realistic mandarin notes. Kind of floral and sweet - and a hint of woody textures. Ginger is also there but are very obscure. Greatly balanced, and a timeless classic i would say. However the important part is that this fragrance lacks sillage and performance. Strikingly weak performance and it almost fades like an hour later. The scent profile itself is very good but somehow the scent lasts shorter than any EDC's out there on the market. Another interesting aspect is the base notes that were used - there are some exotic woods. I've never smelled any wood like those before - they smell very inoffensive and calm like sandalwood but without sandalwood's personalities. The fragrance overall is not strong, not overwhelming, and not strongly powdery or strongly woody. Great great balance, and would recommend from the price being so low. Great value. 3.1 / 6

¿Was this perfume in George's room in Tom Ford's film "A single man"? If that's so it would be a very interesting selection by Ford, famous for his strict control in details: in his own perfumes and his own films

I love to revisit my fragrances. This one in particular all of a sudden I wanted to smell of fresh oranges. So I knew this scent had the citrus orange tangerine profile. I picked it up. Sprayed away and went to another planet. A planet of tangerines dancing with floral notes and a clean finish. I reevaluate my review. I adjust. I appreciate. It is very well done. 10/10

Update Gave this a few days to macerate. The opening is beautiful with the most realistic orange note. It's a juicy sour orange, almost a blood orange. However unfortunately it dries down into a basic linear sweet powder fragrance. It is more nuanced on skin, the herbals do come out a little more on skin, but it's powder dominant which makes it seem feminine Would be a decent office scent I suppose. Mostly just fresh and clean vibes. Like a mix between a hotel soap and a fabric softener. I have heard some describe this as "white florals," but it just comes across like powder to my nose. I suppose it could be described as like fresh linen maybe idk It's somewhere in the Lacoste blanc/Bvlgari man extreme/Ferragamo F black territory. It's like a perfect mix of those three. Fresh, powdery, clean, laundry. It's not bad, just not that great. Definitely won't wow anyone, but you will smell fresh. Would be a great gift for someone's first fragrance, especially a teenager It's a little headache inducing but not too bad. But after giving it a few wears I've decided it's too feminine and powdery for my taste. I don't dislike it but it's another one that has lots of potential but falls short. I'm not a big fan of powdery scent. If they would have limited the powder and amped up the herbs and orange it would be a lot better. I wanted orange and herbs but I got powder sadly The performance is abysmal If you're on the fence my advice is save your shekels and get Lacoste blanc scent-4/10 performance-3/10 value-3/10 versatility-5/10 overall-4/10 *Note* I did order this in February and the cold transit may have affected the fragrance. People should only order frags in the months of April/May/Sept/Oct to avoid hot or cold temps that damage the notes and or the performance

Blind buy first impressions. Definitely a lot going on here. It's different on skin than on paper. Better on skin by a lot. On paper it's a sweet powder bomb reminiscent of Ferragamo F black. I really don't like it on paper On skin it's way more herbal and pungent. The orange is a lot more prominent on skin as well, along with the herbal notes. It's a little more shower gelly on skin too. Hmm I think I like it actually. I was hoping for something different than what I have in my collection and I think this may work I tried Artisan pure a few years ago and didn't like it. This is definitely better It's reminiscent slightly of Boss orange but better done I ordered in winter so I'm paranoid my bottle got damaged by sub 50° weather. Will let it sit to see how it macerates. But so far it seems pretty decent for the price at discounters On paper it's like feminine and powdery. But on skin it's more masculine herbs with what resembles orange rinds. I'm not sure but it reminds me of a blood orange too, almost sour enough to be grapefruit but not quite. I'm glad it's not super powdery on skin. I definitely like it just paranoid about the cold weather it shipped in It does seem really weak though in performance but will give it a full wear ~ Yeah it definitely reminds me a lot of Boss orange but it's better done. A better blend and less synthetic. It's very herbal and on skin is much less powdery, which I'm glad for. I think this could even be classified as a tea fragrance. It's like an herbal tea with essence of orange and a powder base. Honestly this is pretty nice When I walked outside in the cold February air I got a huge blast of it. So the scent bubble is pretty darn good twenty minutes into the dry down, and it's a lot more masculine than I initially thought It reminds me of something else too but I can't put my finger on it. It has elements of something else, like maybe Versace pour homme or a light blue flanker not sure. I'm leaning towards Versace pour homme. Or maybe even Versace Dreamer, or Montblanc starwalker with that bamboo note. Really hard to say but the mid in this reminds me of something for sure. Those herb notes Anyway it's definitely more herbal than anything else. I would say it's not exactly blind buy safe, but if you test it you might get the wrong impression at first For $35 at discounters it's pretty darn good. I think it's sexier than a lot of other frags out there. Fresh and clean and herbal. Pretty good pick up 👍 **UPDATE ON LONGEVITY** It's definitely lacking in longevity. However the projection is solid for the first two hours and some. But by hour three it's died down a lot, and by hour four it's pretty much gone. But I do like the projection and silage for the first three hours. It seems to project very well during that period, more than other frags that last longer

Ok now this is my most emotional fragrance in a very strange way...This to me gives me the picture of a very hot and dry summer mid july , in vications to the country house.Its noon and the sun is up high and hot, there's a just a little of wind and the place is totaly quite .You can just hear the nature.I imagine the sea on one side and large fields of dry straw on the other...This is summer melancholy (maybe in a good way)? in a bottle to me...Yes i know the main smell is mandarine and orange but theres something lurking beneath that gives it this dryness...I love it.

What a great bottle. A real work of art. The juice is no slouch either. Very fresh and clean. The opening I don’t care for. The marjoram and thyme create a slight B.O.ness if smelled directly. Thankfully this fades with time and you’re left with a floral, powdery orange that’s just lovely. Performance is a gripe, but not necessarily a deal breaker. Real classy.

One of the best Orange fragrances I’ve smelled. Only thing holding it back is the longevity

Very soapy, very refreshing. Almost like aromatherapy! For me, it’s perfect for right out of the shower for a night in. The citrus blends with the soapiness at first to give you that first breath of effervescence, and after drying a bit it warms considerably with a slight musky sweetness. It has its faults though, the projection fades very quickly and the scent along with it, but even with those things in mind I think it still has its uses. As long as you’re aware of its short life span and plan or use it appropriately you’ll be fine!

Fragrance Journal Entry #17 So this fragrance just smells like an expensive bar of soap in the best way possible, very bright and clean but the performance severely limits it's versatility. This is basically good for after shower before bed or after gym. Everyone needs a fragrance like that but you don't need multiple of them because then you're just a hoarder. I gave mine to my adolescent son who loves it which is great because shelf space is limited. Rating: 7.1/10 Blind Buy Safe? YES

Nose Note #653 Wonderful. Along the lines of Clinique Happy for Men. A more modern and sweeter version would be Clementine California by Atelier Cologne. Slightly sweet, airy, soapy mandarin orange, half-realistic. To bad it performs as eau de cologne. Very underwhelming performance that doesn't justify the price for me. It's still a wonderful piece of perfumery though. 7.8/10, perhaps this profile can't be made stronger

Used to be my signature scent for all occasions until I switched over to Chanel Allure Homme Sport. Would've continued to use as my signature scent if not for the characteristic shortcoming of almost all JV fragrances - the poor longevity. Fresh soapy white floral opening that settles down to a powdery finish. Very pleasant, inoffensive scent that can be worn in the office or in social gatherings. Received multiple compliments from both men and women through my years of wear. Never really met anyone that did not like the scent. Was even asked what the fragrance was on two occasions. Unfortunately, all of this only holds true for the first 3 hours of wear. The scent practically disappears after that, maybe sitting extremely close to the skin to the point I would have to stick my nose directly to even pick up the scent. Often my acquaintances would be surprised that I had sprayed anything in the first place. I used to carry a bottle around with me to reapply midday just bc the scent lasted so short. Overall, I love the scent, and it carries a lot of good memories and earned me multiple compliments, but decided to move away from it due to it's poor longevity. The price point is decent, and if you get chance to pick it up and are curious, I'd definitely recommend trying it out (a decent blind buy in my opinion, never met anyone who hated the scent) but would be hesitant to recommend as a signature scent.

Permissible soapy, woody, slightly sharp floral and clean vintage scent. Quite masculine as well. Has very weak sillage and longevity.

It's a very classic smelling men's scent to me. Fresh, citrus with some white florals leaning on the orange blossom. Extremely clean, light and airy. Great in Florida humidity. It's not the strongest performer and sillage is just OK... Not that big of a deal since you can carry a decant atomizer if you go out and it's a steal on discounters.

One of the best openings I have ever smelled.. Beautiful floral fresh fragrance. I bought this after i smelled it off a cousin and I can assure you this one will put you in a good mood instantly. very bad performance though , projects good for the 1-2 hours within a arms length and unfortunately lasts the same 2 hours as well. This is a great fragrance , worth buying a decant to experience this floral beauty !

Orange zest in a bottle, linear nothing would let you say “wow” but it’s perfect to chill you up in summer.

This bottle and presentation has me thinking I'm being worldly, adventurous, and even a little sophisticated when wearing this fragrance. But, had this same scent came from a bottle like Clinique Happy for Men (it's shown in the "reminds me of" section), I'd steer clear of this scent for smelling like a late 90's unisex scent sold from Gap clothing store. Presentation is everything.
