Aoud Café

Perfume 10, tested on paper, decant 10 ml Coffee with cardamom and flowers in a wooden café. I also get amber or something resinous in the background. Despite all that, it isn't overwhelming. There's actually a certain freshness running through the composition. After checking the official notes, I can see there's no cardamom after all, so it must be the bergamot that's leading my brain in that direction. I'd also say the floral note reminds me most of peony or something similar, but I see it's listed simply as a generic floral accord. To me, this is a very beautiful fragrance. It feels unique, although I haven't tried any of the fragrances it's commonly compared to. A decant is enough for me, as it's not the type of scent I'd wear very often, and it somehow always ends up being overshadowed by something else.

The coffee smell is STRONG. It almost smells like a subtle anise accord with coffee at the beginning. I do not get a sweet or fruit smell at all. I just smell a dark roasted coffee mixed with licorice/anise. Drying down, you get a subtle floral note. Its faint. The musk base comes around after an hour or so. Ive been waiting for the sweet notes to come throught but my nose catches none of it. Its definitely a linear coffee-black licorice/anise bomb to me. You really have to love those smells to want a bottle of this. This is a very one trick pony fragrance. It has a strong sillage and good longevity. I feel it leans heavily masculine. This is definitely a cold weather and evening smell. I enjoy Mancera but this is a miss for me.

The name suggests that what you will get is an oriental oud and coffee fragrance. However, the scent itself is very bright, green, and fresh. I feel like it is more of a fougère smell. Mainly this smells like celery juice, which is so loud that other nuances of the fragrances seem quite muted. It is very hard to sense what is going on in the background since this celery is so loud. Others say that this celery is the smell of Arabian coffee, and granted, I don't have any experience with that. It is so bright and fresh it surprises me that this is widely recommended for winter and fall. This likely makes more sense as a summer and spring fragrance due to its profile. Although using it solo seems pretty boring, the true potential, as with any other mono fragrance, is layering. It requires a bit of creativity to think of solid combinations for celery, but I think sweet fragrances will work the best. Perhaps strawberry-heavy perfumes?

It very nice cent more male in my opinion. The aoud and the coffee blended very well. The celery you smell is arabian coffee if you haven't smell one. This one easy to wear perfect for cold days or even summer night. Unusual cent elegant and you will outstand.

This is an artsy composition. I understand why some hate it. To me, this isn't any coffee scent, this is a "Jabana coffee" scent. If you don't know, "Jabana" refers to a traditional pottery flask used in Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Eastern Sudanese coffee ceremonies to brew Arabic coffee. The scent gives the feel of being in such a setting back in the day and now I'm overwhelmed by nostalgia. Thank you, Pierre Montale!

I have had this for 6 months now, and it quickly became an all time fav. Don’t understand the hate it’s getting, prob to gatekeep. It’s a really unique smell that will make you stand out in a crowd. The dry down is amazing, it lasts a long time on skin and eternally it seems like on clothes. 9/10

Definitely over hated, the rating is 3.72 as of time writing. For me, on my skin at least, the opening smells like a slightly toasted honey croissant. And when it gets warmer, its as if it was getting reheated in the microwave. It comes to a point where a lot of gourmand fragrances smell too similar to each other because they are all really sweet. But Aoud Cafe finds that fine line. I prefer it to Amore Caffe.

Smells similar to baby powder in the mid. Opens up with a heavy dose of fruits and coffee. Overall I think it's very nice. Good performance but not a beast. 8/10.

Sadly, not for me, I prefer Montale version.

This was a blind buy for me, and it’s alright on its own. There’s a bitterness to it that really works on my skin so although I don’t wear it all the time it has earned a solid spot in my rotation. One thing that Aoud Cafe really shines at is at being a great add on to any scents that may otherwise come off as too sweet, too floral, too anything really. A great way to describe the effect would be adding a pinch of salt to a hot chocolate. Most of the time I use is paired with Choco Violette, wild Cherry, wild Candy.

I'm gonna start out by saying I had a 1ml sample and I'm only gonna do sprays from now cause it's just not the same for testing, it really annoys me. This is a beautiful fragrance, kinda sweet, kinda spicy. But to say this is a coffee fragrance is farfetcht, yes there's a slight hint of coffee but it's really subtle, far in the background, you mostly get the amber, woody, spicyness. It smells really good, but with the fragrances I own, not nice enough to buy it, maybe I'll test it again one day. My mom loved it though. I got whifs for about 3 hours, maybe longer, not sure cause I was working.

I got this and sold it within the 2 weeks of buying. This is one of the few fragrances that makes me nauseous just by thinking of it. Smells like bitter, rotten spices😭 it’s not sweet at all. Was a blind buy for me, I immediately regretted buying it after the first few spritz. Not my type of fragrance. 💔

Update: Fuck this, the more it macerates the worse that celery note gets. It goes away after an hour but what a weird, vegetal hour that'd be. Prev: I get what y'all mean with the celery note. I'm not too mad at this, just a little. Waxy, plasticity scent. Better suited for a living room candle than perfume on skin. The coffee here is more akin to cheap coffee candy. The slightly syrupy cloying one. It's kinda rough blended... Other people will like it on you faintly in passing, more than you on yourself going in for whiffs. I'll stick to Intense Cafe on this one... This gets a solid 3.8/10. It'd be a total 7.5/10 without that celery note.

Im pretty sure my grandma or grandpa smelled like this in the late 90's or early 2000's. Literally smells like something an old person (in their 50's or 60's) would wear to a party or formal event. Eww. Biggest ewww. If you want something actually worth money, try amore caffe!

I love this scent!! It smells expensive and elegant! Definitely a special occasion type of fragrance due to this, or at least something that’s best worn sparsely so it can be fully appreciated and enjoyed. It smells warm and cozy, great for a rainy day. It’s ok in all four seasons, I think as long as the day isn’t too humid in the summer. To sum it up, it’s creamy, elegant, warm, and expensive smelling. I am a man and it works well on me.

I really enjoy this fragrance. It is very unique and performs extremely well for the price point as with most Pierre Montale's perfumes. Very well blended and lasts forever. It is all year rounder and can be worn safely at the office as well. The dry down is amazing with soft oud coffee aroma that keeps on giving (the dry down to me is similar but not identical to Mancer Aoud Vanille ) 8/10 for me

Like black coffee with underlying sweetness from synthetic fruits. Unique take on coffee that I throughly enjoy for the cold weather. 8 out of 10 for me.

OK I have toyed with the idea of this fragrance for about 6months but never bit the bullet until today. Truly unique and amazing scent, the Aoud used is presented in a very Arabian style. The fruits subtle yet affective. This is signature scent worthy. I own 25+ Mancera and this is definitely top 10 overall and top 5 when it comes to unique and daring profile

Aoud Cafe by Mancera: This is good. Obviously you have to enjoy the smell of coffee to like this, that goes without saying but even then you might be able to tolerate it since it's not a screechy synthetic coffee note, rather a blonde roast smooth almost chocolatey note without being synthetic or overly sweet. Definitely an autumn/winter scent with great quality and performance. It's one of the most unique frags I've ever smelled that pulls together notes of warm spiciness, woods and somewhat sweet touches. I get it's not for everyone but for me it's a very inviting gourmand that will have you standing out. Top notes: Coffee, bergamot, slight peach accord. Chocolate isn't listed but I pick it up, no hint of blackcurrant Middle notes: Coffee, amber, very slight floral Base notes: Woody, delicate musk, touch of coffee 5/5

Aoud cafe by Mancera created by Pierre Montale is an enchanting gourmand / oriental fragrance that opens with a light fruity accord combined with prevailing amber notes and an intense toasted black coffee, with vague hints of liquorice (undeclared element) and a precious oud of rare beauty. Mancera with Aoud Cafè builds a rich, well-structured fragrance that is not sweet or oppressive, undoubtedly a monochord fragrance that can be defined almost immediately, thanks to its main notes. In this case the hint of Aoud, refreshed by coffee, is absolutely evident. The heart and base notes give completeness, but do not stand out excessively. Ideal fragrance for creating layering.

One of those fragrances with good notes, but sucks. Ruined by the celery note. I bought coffee break by Mason Margiela instead.

@Ozbon I know where you’re coming from. I also felt I had a crappy batch (17K314A), Oct 2017, but I’m resigned to the fact that it’s easy to go nose blind to this. I keep thinking it’s intimate until I’m reminded with a hefty waft every now and then. It’s more likely a moderate projecting scent. It’s a creeper and it’s one that doesn’t need more than 4 sprays. In comparison to Mancera’s other room-fillers, this isn’t even close, but it’s still a classy drop that creeps up on you. Coffee, woods and fruits in abundance. The amount of oil from this fragrance on my skin reminds me it’ll last. And it does. Add a couple of dots to your clothes (back of neck) or shirt collar. You’ll get wafts for a good 5-6 hours. Just don’t put your nose too close to it - or it disappears.

Sharp, soapy and synthetic accords with coffee. I do not recommend it. I love coffee in several options ( beverages, desserts, liquor, cocktails). I even do really enjoy to exfoliate my skin with coffee, cacao and honey. But this perfume is not close to anything I have mentioned. Glad I got a sample. If you want to smell like you were covered with dove soap and some old coffee liquor with cheap incense..this is perfect for achieving that effect.

I don't know if I'm nose-blind to this particular fragrance but I can barely smell it on my skin. Interestingly, I could still smell it (barely) on my skin after about eight hours after application, so the performance is good albeit with very weak sillage. This is my 12th Mancera fragrance and is the weakest in terms of projection. Is it possible I got a weak/bad batch? Batch code 22G193E (12/07/2022) Smells okay but doesn't really smell like coffee to me. Smells more like molasses or caramel (when I could smell it at all). This was not what I was expecting, especially from the "room filling" fragrances of Mancera. Literally weak sauce. Disappointed with this one.

This is a really nice coffee based fragrance with very slight hints of oud. To me the dry down after 4-5th hour is somthing very similar to what Armani code flankers bring to the table. So it’s a win win in my collection

I'm generally not super big on Mancera as a house. Cedrat Boise is nice but for a bit more at a Discounter, I could get Hacivat. Red Tobacco is entirely way too harsh & rough initially for me to be interested & again, for a bit more, you can get something much better. Instant Crush just feels flat to me. But Aoud Cafe, this one is nice. Sweetened coffee, with some slight fruitiness added, and some strong woods backing it. It's nothing mind blowing or ground breaking, but we don't always need our frags to do that. Sometimes we just need something that smells great, lasts a good amount of time & changes a bit as we go, and that's precisely what this one does. Aoud Cafe, Deep Woods, Aoud Lemon Mint, Lemon Line, Black to Black & Vetiver Sensual are really the stars of the house, imo.
