Don't let the first impressions sway you, this one needs time to develop. It starts out a slightly spicy and musky citrus and a sharp Akigalawood, it doesn't seem like too much is going on, but after about 20 minutes it begins to transforms. The sharp edges fall off, and it starts to gain a lot of depth. The sandalwood overtakes the Akigala with a creamy earthy tone sland a subtle sweetness. It's hard to pick out the individual notes, the blending is excellent. MG definitely feels like a Bisch creation, the Akigalawood is most certainly the most prominent note in that first hour, and it's bizarre to me that it isn't listed as a note on here (it's prominently featured on the breakdown on Parfumo). The Akigala brings some parallels in the opening with PDM Castley, Bois Imperial, and Boss Bottled Beyond. The drydown changes this quite a bit. These are my initial thoughts, I purchased a bottle and will be updating in the future.
One of my favorite fragrances i've ever smelled. 100% has that "oh fuck" effect, at least for me - my girlfriend wasn't as crazy about it but i like warm, spicy-sweet wintery fragrances a lot more than her. The only negative i can think of is it's not the manliest - i ended up pairing it with Carolina Herrera Bad Boy Elixir - but as a scent in general, by itself, it's addicting.
This is very good. More on the woody side. A spicy sandalwood, long lasting scent. That is good for year around. Try it on a 5 ml decant.
I really love the original one million so i was not at all nervous getting this sample. It's beautiful! I find the one million DNA to be quite calming, but even more so in this fragrance. There is a mystery note in there making it feel not beachy per se but just "vacation-y." It's also a very well balanced scent. The woodiness is present but not overpowering to where it would change the scent profile too much and the mandarin is there too, but politely exits as the fragrance develops. The hint of sweetness is to die for. I can't get enough of the dry down on this. As a woman, if I caught a whiff of this on a guy my ears (and nose) would absolutely be perking up. I don't find this to be a potentially offensive scent at all and would recommend this as a signature scent honestly. It's *that* good in my opinion. Oh also, if you enjoy Phlur's Father Figure, you will probably like this too.
OG’s would know this smells like Antonio Banderas - Diavolo
test before you buy. i don't usually have problems with sandalwood, but this and Santal 33 both just STINK like budussy to me. rather its from skin chemistry, my nose, or a mixture of both, you couldn't pay me to wear either. which is strange because there's countless sandalwood heavy frags that smell great on and to me, not to mention its a pretty common base note for countless other designer frags. i can kinda pick it up from Toy Boy too, but Toy Boy has enough going on with the rose and leather so that the accord actually adds nuance. something like this which is more a pure sandalwood bomb just doesn't work for me. i'm a big fan of every other 1 Million and Paco in general, regardless of their notoriety among the community. 1 Million Gold Elixir is a much better take on this, i didn't find it to have anything off-putting whatsoever. this is by far the weakest entry of an oversaturated line imo.
Some influencer said it smelled like BO. His nose is broken no doubt, and sadly some believed him and started parroting what he said. This is a really nice sweet sandalwood scent, nothing with it. I like it a lot...actually better than some niche sandalwood fragrances out there. Psychologically: a few words can create a false bias...this is a perfect example of it.
Rabanne Million Gold edp intense. A simple fragrance with an enamoring scent profile. The duo of sandalwood and cedar blend beautifully with the spices. The mandarin in the opening is both inviting and complimentary to the aforementioned notes. Quentin Bisch has done it again.
i will never understand why everyone in bucharest smells like this. but i like it. woody but freshy, versatile in that sense. love this guy. good for blind buy, and definitely a must-have for a collection. the longevity is INSANE. i can still smell it after washing my clothes. if you spray this onto one of your jackets, be prepared to smell this from anything inside your closet. edit: new batches lack longevity so bad and smells sugary. buy only if you get an old batch bottle.
6.5/10 Just a toned down version of the original with a bit of coconut (though it's not in the note list). The mandarin note is very nice and sweet.
I guess it's redundant if you have JPG Le Beau Paradise Garden.
One one hand, I'm kind of impressed that three so-called "master perfumers" - Christophe Raynaud, Quentin Bisch, Givaudan - could only come up with something like Million Gold. Three perfumers with years of experience behind them, all together, and that's the best they can offer. But on the other hand, I'm not really shocked that this is the case; it was to be expected. Basically, what our three masterminds behind Million Gold tried to do with their creation is to modernize the 1 Million DNA and improve it overall. At least that's the idea that I get when I smell Million Gold. The OG DNA is clearly the spine here, starting in a similar synthetic fashion with that typical bubblegum-reminiscent sweetness that is not excluded from most designer scents nowadays. Slowly, that sweetness is taken over by some juicy mandarin yet without much citric lift. Underneath it, rosy pepper clashes with cardamom warmth and sprinkled cinnamon that will certainly get a few OG 1 Million wearers back in the day a little nostalgic. Things get quite boring as it progresses, offering a sweet and still synthetic mishmash of creamy sandalwood and nondescript ambers that append a vanillic coating to every note. There's no cypriol to speak of, and leather is present, but hidden underneath all the slop. And speaking of slop, Bisch was kind enough to bring his beloved akigalawood overdose in here too, as in most of his latest releases. Aside from adding that typical boring, clean, synthetic facet, it also aids significantly with performance, making sure that any clothes that came into contact with the fragrance will remind you of your poor choices every time you wear them. Certainly, longevity stretched over 12 hours, but performance was more considerate, at least on my skin (thank God). The first hour everyone will notice you; it leaves a trail behind that's hard to ignore. But it does settle into about a 1 foot bubble after 2 hours, not pushing nearly as much as I'd think it would. Still detectable if the breeze aids a bit, but not the beast-mode projection I was expecting. If you were to infiltrate a high school party or prom, wearing Million Gold would certainly make you fit right in. It still smells youthful, careless, and playful; "modernize" doesn't necessarily pair with "mature". Quite the opposite, in fact. Regardless, this is as versatile as most designers are nowadays, and the only way I'd see it unfit is for someone well-past his twenties. I won't lie, I'm struggling to write this review due to the sheer lack of excitement I have for Million Gold and the whole 1 Million line. Why am I bothering reviewing it, then? Mistakes from the past. Anyways, to conclude, in terms of how well Million Gold modernizes the OG DNA, I'd say it's largely the same, just masked with creamy sandalwood and boring akigalapoop. In terms of how well this will perform for Rabanne, I'd say probably decently enough, but I doubt it will bring blockbuster-level success as it seriously feels redundant to own if you still wear, for whatever reason, the OG 1 Million. Maybe the increased performance and slightly cleaner vibe, but is that enough to warrant the $100 and even over $100 price tag? Not from my view. I'm sure Rabanne were confident that bringing three of the biggest names in perfumery would bring them the next big thing in their lineup. But as big the expectations might've been, as big the disappointment. Try Miguel Matos, Rabanne. At least I'll respect you for trying, although concurrently I'd lose respect for Matos for even considering going this low as to collaborate with a brand like this. Presentation: 5.5/10 Scent: 4.5/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 5.5/10 Versatility: 9.5/10 Value for Money: 2/10 Overall: 6.1/10
Only fragrance I've tried to give the B.O. dry down after skin heating up. Thought I was smelling out of date marinated olives in the garbage next to me at work, but it was still prominent in the freezer. Co-workers had a good laugh.
Meh. Much much better scents out there, comes off synthetic and forgettable, smells "perfumy" and generic, the least interesting in the line. Very long lasting though which kind of annoyed me because I did not want to smell it any longer it just became cloying and fatiguing in a way.
I don’t get BO and think this is the best smelling of the 1 million line. To me I love how it’s a unisex orange floral sandalwood that smells upscale for warm weather. Makes me think of a really nice hotel lobby.
Anyone else think this smells like Burberry touch?
I love this fragrance, it could totally be a separate fragrance instead of the Million Line (this and the Million Elixir could belong to the same sepearte one and call the latest Eau de Parfum Gourmand). This is one of the most refined (while projecting) sandalwood based fragrance I've tried. I can actually smell the quality and the tender texture of an amazing sandalwood, mixed with a sweet and spicy citrusy mist slowly dancing and pulsating around the "powdery" and creamy sandalwood (the star). I talked about it so much that my boyfriend tested and boy... it lasts forever on clothes, basically until washing, it projects like crazy, reaches very very far, almost teletrasports like a ghost (when a perfume does that trick, I cannot deny the mastery of its creator) always with a gentle movement, it invites you to love it whenever it's in the area, but it's not agressive, spiky or a control freak at all. This is a lovely perfume built on a very refined and high quality formula, without a single doubt. Although I think anyone can wear it, beacuse we can and must wear what we truly love, at any season, I prefer to smell this on a masculine person, I get very entranced when it projects from my beautiful man, I just wanted to lean into his chest and arms when he wore it.
One Million Gold is a completely different fragrance than the other One Millions. This sweet obsessed generation of frag wearers in their teens and 20's won't like this. It's definitely a scent for the more refined nose. The sandalwood/floral/citrus is prominent. It has a slight coconutty aspect as it wears. It's unisex, leaning masculine. Definitely more masculine than Vibrato or Tygar that the influencers have such a boner for lately which are quite feminine leaning. Overall Million Gold is nice. It's a good anytime/any season frag for the frag enthusiast.
What B.O.? I guess it's possible if you're a tree? Someone on YouTube mentioned that B.O. thing and it was laughable. But it's sad to see that comment/video playing with people's brains like this. I smell Sandalwood, and it's nice, not silly and cloying sweet. I like it. This is an initial test and I will give it more wearing, but I detect clean sandalwood, a variation (toned down) type of woods you find in Santal 33 with other sweeter notes.
Sample from Sephora. Of the super popular men's fragrances out there today, this one is somewhat worthy of its stature. Does what a lot of other frags are trying to do while remaining completely its own animal. I don't recommend a blind buy, but I wouldn't be mad if I got a bottle of this for a holiday.
its a realy boring fragrance for me its just bland.
Straight sandalwood with a bit of orange, I don't think the orange was a good choice to blend with.
Very animalic for a designer (to me at least). I got a urea -ish undertone that brings to mind a (sexy) nightclub restroom
I don’t detect a “B.O.” scent at all. This just feels like a toned down version of the original 1 Million. Far less sweet but woodier. I can understand where someone is coming from if they get a dill/pickle-ish scent from the sandalwood. My nose gets a similar vibe when comparing to Burberry Hero Parfum.
It’s kind of a light scent, it’s not like 1 million original or any of the other flankers at all. Those are all very sweet, this one is more of a shaving cream I like it. Like it takes the spices from the original 1 million and tone it down and then removes all the sweetness and replaces it with like a shaving cream, sandalwood type of smell. Good for the office.
Nice scent but the projection is rubbish- it might be because I had a sample so I don’t know if the atomiser can affect the projection. Won’t be buying a larger bottle due to the performance but I like the scent
I have other million flankers, that are better in different ways, still I like this one. The opening is very nice, dry down is challenging to some. Surprisingly the longevity is not that good compared to the flankers, but hey it is an EDT. Edited to add: I keep comming back to this. On my skin it is quite good. I can sit and smell this stuff for hours and have it at my desk. Not sure why some hate it so much, but then if people trust those reviews fewer will buy it, and it will be more rare.
I LOVE this fragrance, but I'm never going to buy it because the longevity and projection just aren't there. It's gone after just 3 hours, and I feel like you need to get your nose close to smell it. Needs a lot of overspray, I guess, and I don't love doing that. It was wild to see Paradise Garden (probably my favorite fragrance) in the "this reminds me of" section, but if you take away almost all the fruitiness/wateryness of the JPG, I definitely see how the two could smell linked.
I don’t understand the bad reviews. I met this guy and he smelled nice. He gave me a hug even better. He smelled kinda fresh powdery slightly gourmand but still masculine - certainly not overwhelming. We began to date and when I visited his home I saw this fragrance on his dresser. I had never smelled it before. Not sure why all the bad reviews but I really like it. We’ve been together since and he is not a fragrance affectionado like I am but this is a good choice. He does own a few other common men’s fragrance like sauvage- they are much stronger and I can’t say he wears them much if at all.
