Very classy, elegant, introspective, and a little old school. The opening was too masculine for me, but afterwards it turns soft, velvety, creamy suede, and more feminine.
The suede-ish nature just gets lost on me. Just winds up being a limp musk with a coumarin/fruity facet and a dash of iris. I like the intimacy and restraint; it's a very tasteful creation but it doesn't move me compared to what I've come to expect from Lutens bell jars.
Stunning work of art! On my skin the apricot stand equally with the powdery suede. The apricot almost veers into tart apricot gummy territory but the powdery notes of iris and metallic clean tones of hawthorn keep the candy sweetness restrained. I get touches of cardamon as the scent wraps itself around my body. It feels sensual. Wearable art! I need a bottle
I don't want to smell like a purse, not even a nice one.
Very nice scent profile. Blonde suede is what it is. Velvety more than silky due to the suede texture, but smooth. Soft. Luxurious but simple. Reserved performance, pleasant, perfect Office Scent. Its completely unisex, though the apricot/iris combo in the opening does lean a bit feminine if anything. I don't perceive it as "lady like" though. The name Daim Blond itself may skew perceptions toward the feminine too. And be careful with pronunciation, you wouldn't want to pronounce it "Dumb Blond" . It is powdery, but the heliotrope itself is reserved. I think the iris contributes most of the powderiness. I wish Daim Blond were still reasonably available in the old bottles with a screw-in atomizer.
Serge Lutens #8 - Creatures of comparition. The notion of comparition is such a natural and engraved psychological behaviour in us that we sometimes find difficulties in describing things without comparing them to something we previously encountered. The more i entertain this thought, the more i realise just how much we use comparition as a tool. This is especially true with fragrances, where certain creations remind us of others so much that we cannot beat the urge to reference the one we smelt before. It happens alot to me and that happened with Daim Blond by Serge Lutens aswell. To be more specific, recently i’ve acquired and reviewed a bunch of Etat Libre d’Orange samples. The first one i’ve tested was Putain des Palaces and coincidence has it that i find Daim Blond similar in many ways. Serge Lutens fragrances have names that often don’t help in figuring out how the scent will smell like. That is not the case with Daim Blond because the scent perfectly executes the concept of a “Blonde” Suede. Its a feminine leaning, powdery/velvety, bright and delicate perfume that features soft sweetness and a suave note of suede. The two fragrances use similar accords such as musk, powderyness, bright florals and slightly soapy touches. The main differences are that Daim Blond has more of a soft bubble-gum sweetness whilst Putain des Palaces is muskier and more dirty. Infact, comparing the two side by side made the dirty accords in Putain de Palaces more evident then when smelt by itself. It pains me to say this, being a fan of Serge Lutens, but i prefer Putain des Palaces because i like the edgy, dirty side of it more and its many times cheaper and easier to acquire. However, Daim Blond is a “prettier” and classier scent overall, not to mention it greatly surpasses it in longevity on my skin. I tested them side by side in the evening, woke up at 4 AM to go to the bathroom and i could still detect Daim Blond on my hand whilst Putain was almost completly gone. Since i mentioned Etat Libre d’Orange, Daim Blond is what Clean Suede from the same house wanted to be.
This used to be one of my favorite perfumes and a signature scent for a while, a beautiful, perfect soft suede and a very cute apricot skin. Pretty. But damn, it's very quiet and pouring it into bell bottles and selling it for 2.5 hundred is madness and mockery. Also, so hard to get. Go to hell.
It’s a very carnal and radiant scent. Very unique (I must say - on the edge of strange tbh). It smells like animalic leather mixed with some cream and peaches if it makes any sense. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this scent, but this is beyond any expectation. It’s nice, but scary! My ig: scent.guide
The embodiment of "quiet luxury" in a fragrance form. The epitome of elegance and class, Daim Blond is so extremely well made. This is not my favorite SL fragrance at all, honestly, it's not even in my personal top 20 out of 60 or so Lutens that I have. But it is beautiful. Very restrained. Sort of distant and unapproachable. It does smell similar to OG Bottega Veneta, but it lacks the oakmoss that always bothered me in BV and has the lovely dried apricots accord. One of the worst Lutens in terms of projection, there simply is none. People only comment on it if they hug me. Which I guess makes sense in the world of "quiet luxury".

I walked into the now defunct Barney’s (RIP) with the intention of buying a bottle of Loewe 001. While the associate went to get that bottle for me, the lady at the Serge Lutens counter had me smell Daim Blond and I went home with this bottle instead. Apricot and suede play SO well together. Fruity apricot hums in the background, and along with iris, softens the suede in a way that smells like sweetened skin salted by the sun. A unique and beautiful combination that feels velvety, creamy, and a little smokey. I used to wear this a lot (half of my 50ml), but it was never perceived by anyone around me so I stopped wearing it. I kind of forgot how good it was until I revisited my bottle now in 2025. Thankfully it’s still as beautiful as when I first bought it. Such a shame that a fragrance this exquisite will only be appreciated by yourself. I’m happy I was able to get a bottle while they offered it at a much more affordable 50ml size.
Aww. This was my first Serge Lutens and one of my first niche buys many, many years ago. Daim Blond deserves more love. I hardly ever hear anyone talk about it. It’s a delicate floral suede with hints of apricot. This feels so elegant and ladylike without being stuffy. It would be appropriate in most settings, in my opinion. Well…maybe not a rave or backyard BBQ, but most settings.
I tried this today in Harrods in one of the dabber bottles. I really liked it. It smells mature in a good way; classy and elegant. Fairly unisex in scent and versatile in that it would be suitable for a range of seasons and occasions. Something I would spray when I wanted to feel put-together and sophisticated.
If I want to smell different I would choose this. Also, For me this is a love from start to finish.
I blind bought Daim Blond 3 years ago based off the reviews and especially the notes, apricot and suede: yum, yes please! Excited, I tried it on and hated it. I was so disappointed and confused. I couldn't smell any of the listed notes, it smelled fussy, very mature, like a vague, dated perfume. Sad because I had spent the money, I put it away and forgot about it. I've been going through my perfume collection and I tried it on today: Wow! So thrilled I kept my bottle. The opening is a bit odd, almost like concentrated PEZ candy with it's plastic PEZ dispenser. And then! It softens into Osmanthus and apricots rolling gently on suede. It's a gorgeous, sensual, delicious creamy cloud and everything I had hoped it would be. It's so delicious I want to eat it (but not really because I envision licking a piece of soft suede covered in mashed apricot, lol) it's more that I want to possess the delicious wafts and stop them from dissipating. Sadly, doesn't seem to last all that long on my skin but it is faintly clinging on my shirt and hair. This is a love for me. Edit: Wore it to bed in my hair and my husband said, 'What is that? It's unlike anything else you have, kind of woodsy, almost masculine, like I would wear that? It smells really good and expensive.' He was a fan for sure. And nicely, a soft wood/suede note still remains in my hair this morning. I also have to say it reminds me of Agar Ebene in the dry down.
I am selling a partial of this. I have the bell jar. Please send me a private message if interested.
I adore this scent but, the longevity/silage are extremely one of the worst!! It just lasts 1h on my skin although I sprayed 15~20 times....It's extreme annoying
DM me if you’re selling a partial :)
Got a (very) partial bottle (old square design) for a good price on ebay last summer, like 5 mls left, on the basis of what I remembered from the 00s. For the first month or two I smelled literally nothing, but perhaps the perfume needed to settle because now it smells exactly as I remember, an elegant blend of juicy apricots and fresh bandaid, silky musky-suede drydown, really beautiful and classic.
I appreciate a play on words. Something I think Rosalie Hale might smell like. Definitely for dressed up occasions, a white tie affair. Just stunning. You have to have the personality for it, else it'll wear you.
I don't have any new insights to add to others' descriptions - I also get all the leathery, creamy, apricot, musky skin stuff. I'm only leaving this post because my most major beef with this is practically NO ONE CAN SMELL IT. For the price and considerable effort it took me to obtain this fragrance, I think that is a fair expectation. I am also saddened that no one else gets to experience this fragrance in smelling it on others, which is basically a big part in wearing scent in the first place. *Sigh*
First spray My nose is most definitely immature because I get childhood bandages I can see the apricot but all I can smell is bandages right now Will report back when I grow up
Anyone know a website that ships international where I can get the bell bottle of this ? ♥️
Smells like you just open a new Birkin bag and surprise inside there are a dozen ripe apricots. Soft feminine leather with a prominent waxy sheen of iris. Sits very close to the skin.
The only iris fume that works with my skin chemistry. I have the bell jar splash and I love it, I apply generously. Daim is a beautiful clean, crisp, slightly cool suede and jammy fragrance that dries down to a stunning musk that quietly projects. It reminds me of the original Gris Montaigne by Dior which I stupidly gave away. It has the same refined classic vibe that screams LUXURY. Daim Blond also has the signature Lutens ghostliness to it, it's like a phantom whispering in the night. I'm immediately picturing the music video for Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart.
I like it. Smells really yummy, approaches gourmand but doesn’t quite make it. On me was fairly one note. I don’t know if it’s for me. Couldn’t stop smelling but I see it more as a frag for a charismatic, bouncy party girl. That being said, if I had the funds I’d buy a full bottle for certain occasions
I wore this fragrance extensively in 2019, one of the best years of my life until the covid broke out. It brings me back to the dawn of an early autumn day in Berlin. It's a poetic mixture of apricot and suede accords. For those who are asking if it's been discontinued - no, it's just been moved to the bell-jar collection some 5+ years ago. You can still buy it from the SL's official website, just in a different flacon and price range.
I am on the market for a small decant if anyone is selling and can ship to the UK. A truly beautiful scent, elegant your-skin-just-better which I just wish was a tad louder.
this is beauuuutiful; i don't think i'm quite the right person to wear this as i picture someone really elegant and refined when i smell this but, wow!!! wasn't expecting to like this quite so much based on the notes alone; the apricot and heliotrope are easily discernible. really pleasant and refreshing
This fragrance reminds me of Dr. Pepper. No cherry nor fizz. Rather the airy essence of the aforementioned beverage. Another fragrance this also reminds me of is the popular release from Maison Crivelli: Lys Solaberg… another one that has a similar essence. Lys is more wearable in my opinion for day to day but Serge is more elegant.
