Champaca Absolute

This is OK. The opening is the best part, with a so-so drydown. I wanted to try Champaca Absolute in order to get a good dose of Champaca because its in Bortnikoff's Moss Cologne and I wanted to get a good idea what its all about in another composition, and more prominent. I absolutely love Bortnikoff's Moss Cologne due to its oakmoss/champaca/citrus melange. Champaca Absolute, I think, would do better without the violet and marron glace notes. Violet works well in some scent profile, but the combination here gives it too much of a scratchy profile.

Masterpiece. Shame it was discontinued.

The bergamot with the jasmine and orchid mix so well in this fragrance. I don't usually like boozy fragrances and it says this one opens up with cognac, but I would say it's pretty subtle. To me the bergamot really stands out more than anything, and this one smells like a sparkling and sophisticated Earl Gray tea on me.

Most of the time TF fragrances don’t last on me, but this one is like gorilla glue it STICKS! For the price it is so worth it if you like florals. On me the florals come out all thoroughout this fragrance. They never disappear, so the mid notes are super strong on me. Can this be unisex yes, it’s more feminine leaning in the winter but in the spring and summer I can see this on anyone! I do not get wood as many have mentioned below, I will say I have the older version of this. As for longevity, it’s excellent and I know most TF fragrance disappear on me, but this stay around forever. Sillage is there and strong, people will notice you in fact a women in the post office asked me what I was wearing. I of course happily told her. I always am upfront when I can help someone in the fragrance world, I don’t gatekeep at all! I would say this is a 10/10 if you want a floral,almost tropical because of the Champaca. A wearable TF with excellent lasting power and excellent performance!

I tried this for the first time today. At the opening, I immediately get a sparkling, champagne-like feeling, and this sensation actually carries into the mid notes, accompanied by waves of very realistic floral notes. It might be indolic, but I’m not completely sure — because it doesn’t smell like a typical “perfumey” floral. Instead, it reminds me of scents I’ve noticed on certain wild flowers (for example, something like peach blossoms). When everything blends together, though, the overall impression is very similar to old-style Chinese face creams and hand creams. At the same time, some fruity notes also pop up together with the sparkling, fizzy feeling. This creamy, cosmetic-like character only starts to fade in the dry-down. In the very end, what remains is a milky, soft woody scent (which I believe is sandalwood) that sits very close to the skin, almost like a “your-skin-but-better” kind of smell. When the fragrance becomes extremely faint, it finally turns into a simple woody note — still sandalwood, but no longer sweet. If you smell carefully, you can actually notice how the scent keeps evolving over time. And the longevity is impressive — it easily lasts a full day on my skin.

Supposedly there is a lot going on with this fragrance. Top notes of cognac, Dyer’s greenweed - whatever that is - and bergamot. The bergamot definitely shows in the sparkling, citrusy, and effervescent opening, but the other two are negligible if not completely transparent. Heart notes of champaca, orchid - what orchid? There are thousands, some smell and some don't, and the ones that do very often smell differently from each other - jasmine, and violet. While the bergamot top shimmers away, the champaca and most especially the jasmine are the stars. They hit you like a wall of flowers. The other accords are, again, negligible if not completely transparent. Base notes of Marron glace - as if most of us are supposed to know what that smells like - vanilla, sandalwood, and amber. No. Caramelized sugar syrup. Nothing else. So needless to say, this fragrance either missed the mark on execution or vision, or both. As a floral champaca it is nice, but it says very little and will leave even less to your memory.

Syrupy rich and pollen laden champaca infused with a gooey booze note and resting on a nutty, powdery wood base. It has a dense, floral, almost baroque feel but the base notes are surprisingly light and this makes the perfume very wearable. It has the feel of some women’s fragrances from the 80s and darn it; I love it. I keep falling for these unavailable perfumes. Lasts 8 hours on skin. The performance on my skin was consistent; the champaca remains at all times, the perfume just begins to draw in closer to the body at the 4-5 hour mark.

One of my favorites. I used to the original I bought a while ago and got another on eBay. It just gets me every time. Makes me happy.

Smells overwhelmingly like parsley with some sweet florals way off in the background, too far away to identify what they are. After awhile the sandalwood and amber try peeking through, but quickly get shot down by the parsley. I got this in early spring, and I've tried it in cool, warm, and hot weather, but it's always parsley. This actually would make a really nice candle for your kitchen, but I find it unwearable.

This is a very natural smelling woody floral. It's gender neutral. Great for guys who like florals, but don't like wearing them if they get girly. Love the honeyed chestnut note. The sweetnness makes it nicer for cooler temps. I think Springtime and Fall is best.

not as feminine as one might think. this is a nice out of the shower type of smell in my eyes, but nothing like a shower gel or blue vibes. it smells creamy, smooth and fresh in a way with a touch of this lightly sweetened banana-like note from the champaca which i find very interesting. overall a pleasant wearing experience from a male point of view- but it definitely is not worth the absurd asking price for it on sites like ebay per say.

Managed to snag a 50ml sealed box at a local perfumery boutique . What a revelation , this is art . Eternal longevity , non cloying , pure platinum . I’m a man and it worked well on my skin. Such a joy , a solid 10/10 from me .

Testing my sample; this a pungently green, sour, and heavily powdery banana-like champaca highlighted with a sweet boozy opening and equally sweet florals. I haven't a clue what actual champaca smells like but if it smells like this, then yes, I am sold. Very bold, very strong, projects majorly. This is one of the TF's I'd wish I had enough sense to purchase when it was readily available. I purchased the DUA dupe Fondré Noir because I can't find this for a reasonable price anywhere ($700+ for 1.7 oz is ridiculous). I'd love a re-release.

Champaca Absolute (50 ml., USD105, A18,BNIB) Review (November 9, 2024) Today, I do a full wear test for Champaca Absolute. Many feeling, Remains Exotic, This seems to be powdery-carnal floral scent. However, I don't really familiar fragrance style to Champaca Absolute. The direction of this still, blend of Exotic flower, herbaceous and green. But apart from Amber & Flower, I didn't pick much something else. Also, this seems to be slight on natural side of thing difference from later TomFord creation in peak time, the vibe is kind of difference. This is not dark by Tobacco/Incense/Smoky effect. it might be dark from Material use in fragrance itsself. The exotic putrid flower. I am not so sure is this truly add Champaca Absolute (as raw material). Or it is just Champaca accord from Ylang Ylang as some aspect reminds me of Ylang Ylang but seems to slight more herbaceous, greener. But it could be form Dyer's Greenweed too. I found the fragrance bloom most beautiful around 30-40 minutes post wear. When that dry-herbaceous slight tone down and sweet powdery amber show glimpse of herself, when mix with that Champaca, it really strong yet alluring. Feel like Legong dance, powdery and bold eyeliner. With strong scent emit from Flower Tiera. it's really strong floral yet resilient In the same time. As scent dry further, the floral quality dried out and play support roll. And I found this very dry amber scent, as skin scent it is nice to be on skin. Clean and dry powdery floral fragrance. Where I like Champaca Absolute for now, is quality of being exotic floral fragrance. That truly show full-take aesthetic on wild floral, it is carried overall TomFord vibe with that boozy and the floral material results in majestic floral amber fragrance. Stand against time. Perfumer : Rodrigo Flores-Roux, still show his expert in Exotic-floral fragrance creation. (He is also creator of Jasmin Rouge, 6 years later). Personally, it is not 100% my keeper, but I glad to have her here now. The part I am not so sure, is the outcome message that emit from the scent. It kind of yes and not really in the same time (It seems aggressive but settled). Will try a few more wear. ===== First Impression Champaca Absolute is Florental fragrance it is being Florental by being the strong tropical floral quality. The star : Champaca. I found this Champaca quality in this very Devine and putrid. True merit of being Exotic. As first, I think Champaca Absolute should be sweeter than this (by standard of Black Orchid) but no. This is not really sweet at all, the amber isn't thick. It's dense but smooth and that soft Marron Glace provide soft nutty quality to the fragrance, smell like roasted macadamia provide texture for amber in the background. It finds this lightly boozy, just a touch. So it is floral dominant support by soft gourmand powdery amber. Dark almost soft smoke vanilla. I think Champaca Absolute isn't your easy TomFord fragrance. It quite lustrous and need certain olfactive to be appreciated (specific Tropical yellow foral & amber : Florental) Personal I really appreciate the scent. It is very enjoyable. I was first thinking this will be closer to that kind of yellow floral amber fragrance that bloom lately in current market. Grabrielle Chanel, APOM MFK, J'dore Dior or Ylang-Ylang Noisy Be but all of those are very pretty and cute compare to Champaca absolute, I found this closer to Vanilla Gelante by Hermes - due to the indole floral aspect. I broke this out on a chilly winters day and it takes me back to warmer and longer days, brighter sun and less clothing. This is beast mode and wearable in winter. Totally made me smile - sunshine in a bottle. Spraying this on is like stepping out your front door into a balmy sunny day with a warm breeze, bright blue skies and a blast of happily chattering bird song. Thick fleshy yellow florals - fruity but in a juicy mango/apricot way versus banana so the florals are dripping nectar and verdant greenery, dewy and cool, underpins these lush fruity florals. Feminine leaning to my nose, but the sweetness level makes it more wearable and timeless. Projects and performs strongly for more than 10 hours. Happy to hold this in my collection.

another Tom Ford keeper! upon first testing it appeared to me blunt, simple, so boring. the lasting power also seemed so so. I initially put it away until rediscovered just recently. so happy Ive kept my bottle! this smells very natural and accurate. it has a characteristic real champaca sour powderiness to it, soft and foreign, and it also somewhat reminds me of the slightly sweet skin smell after a day on the beach. the ambery warm drydown is fantastic also, what I initially interpreted as a short lasting power appeared to be its delicate and thin character compared to more pungent perfumery im used to. but even after 6-8 hours i still get whiffs of champaca here and there

I really appreciate the pungent floral and boozy qualities of Champaca Absolute. Its sweetness conjures sultry humidity rather than that of something juvenile or adolescent. As a guy who has no problems with exterior perceptions of his sexuality, I'd happily wear this on the weekends. It's bold and lush, while also quite joyful. But I probably still wouldn't wear this at the office, just because it's a bit too loud for that. Champaca Absolute could absolutely work in a club if you want to play a different wavelength than just another sweaty sauvage bro. My girlfriend finds this 100% feminine, however, so do with that what you will. I'm still very happy to have this in the collection.

As a man, I confidently embrace and wear this floral fragrance, which is a rare choice for me. Without a doubt, this ranks as my all-time favorite Tom Ford fragrance. It's akin to capturing the essence of seduction in a bottle, radiating a sweet, vibrant, floral, and utterly irresistible charm that endures for well over 12 hours. Consistently, whenever I apply it, women are quick to shower me with compliments and openly express their admiration. It's genuinely disheartening to learn that it has been discontinued. I earnestly implore Tom Ford to consider reintroducing this exceptional fragrance to the market.

This is a pleasant, sweet floral that has a woody, spicy undertone. Very wearable, heavy Jasmine and vanilla.

This one is challenging for me. There are beautiful florals and, delicious gourmand elements, but there is also an underlying dirtiness that is turning me off. I find it can be headache inducing and it's obnoxious and overwhelming. The florals are too heady for me for the first 2-3 hours of wear. I don't think I have tried another fragrance with champaca, I don't know if it's just not the floral for me or if it's just too much in this fragrance. After the fragrance has been on my skin for a few hours the florals really settle and the dry down is lovely. It's a nice spicy floral with a syrupy, sweet vanilla base with a bit of nuttiness. The performance is pretty soild. It lasted 8+ hours on my skin and much longer on clothes. The projection was quite strong for the first 3 hours, reaching well beyond my personal space. Unfortunately he heady florals and the dirty undertone at this stage were amplified by the strong performance for me. After that settles the fragrance is much more enjoyable and the projection is still in the moderate range. Champaca Absolute leans feminine, but is unisex enough that a man who enjoys florals could comfortably wear this. It has a darkness and sexiness about it that is giving me nighttime vibes. I would not be able to wear this in the heat of a summer day. It is just too heavy and suffocating for the first few hours for me to be able to enjoy it. Like many Tom Ford fragrances, I find this overpriced. It is unique enough to be interesting, but it feels unbalanced and not quite special enough to demand the price tag it comes with.

#106 in my "Tour de Fragrance" of 250 scents in 250 days. This one is delicious. My opinion of Tom Ford Fragrances has improved with the last few I've tried. Pricey as it is, I will have to get a bottle of this.

Warm and welcoming, Champaca Absolute is a unique type of sweet and I really enjoyed it when I smelled it for the first time. However, a few hours passed, it started to become a bit cloying and smells a bit like soil (in a bad way) I'm not sure if it's the champaca or orchid but I didn't like it.

Another masterpiece from Tom Ford fragrances, heavy champaca floral scent and great performances, I asked Tom Ford counter salesman, does it get discontinued and he reply me, this one is still available at store, where's the rumour come from? anyways I love this fragrance. I give Champaca Absolute 9/10

It’s unapologetically a syrupy , dusty , powdery floral. The sample I have seems to have aged and it’s heavily an oil - so it won’t leave me alone even after washing it off my wrist. It’s going to be a scent that now has the responsibility of making a bathroom not smell like it’s been used for number 1 or 2 instead of an actual perfume. Very harsh review , but it’s discontinuation isn’t a surprise to me . There’s nothing nuance or unique to be said about the scent- at best it’s genuinely potent and will make itself known to you , as well as others, proudly
