Rose Rouge

This is your serious winter rose. Not cold but bossy. You must love the rose-patchouli combo to benefit this cold weather weapon for conquering the world. Beware this fragrance possesses you, not the other way around. Verdict: It smells like debauchery.

Rose, Black currant, pepper, and something very slightly earthy in the background mixed with patchouli. Nice and elegant, well made, unisex leaning slightly feminine. I understand people that would use this as an everyday scent.

im kinda enjoying wearing this perfume , but I should say its a seasonal one as it might not perfume very well in heat or hot weather...otherwise it is a lovely perfume, very pleasant and intimate and it has a lovely character.. try it in spring or winter only Over all 8.5/10

A jammy and round, spicy rose for fall and winter-time. Reminds me a bit of Jardins de misfah.

This is what I wanted La Nuit Tresor to be. Most delicious roses I’ve ever smelled. Sits somewhere between pink and black shades, seems like an innocent jam but she's not as playful as you think. She's a grounded queen who wears a cool leather jacket. Somehow carries that energy of hypnotic scenes in old-school animes where full moon shines and petals swirl through the air. Love at first sniff. Intoxicating, perfectly blended. I’m gatekeeping this hard and Idc.

Rose Rouge is a masterclass in texture. It feels less like a perfume and more like a heavy, wine-colored velvet drape. If you’ve ever found rose fragrances to be too "thin" or "shampoo-like," this is the one that will change your mind. The opening is a dark, juicy infusion. It’s the scent of blackcurrants crushed underfoot, their tart skins releasing a sharp, purple nectar that tangles with the heat of pink pepper. This isn't a shy, dewy morning rose; it is a rose in full, dramatic bloom, its petals stained with berry juice. There’s a spicy, effervescent spark here that feels sophisticated and slightly moody. As it breathes on the skin, the fragrance gains a grounded, earthy weight. A dry vetiver and hints of tart raspberry pull the rose into a deeper territory. It avoids the "synthetic sugar" trap of most modern fruity-florals, instead opting for a rich, oriental warmth that feels incredibly "red." The drydown is where the true indulgence lies. It settles into a hazy, gourmand luxury of bitter cacao and pods of dark vanilla. The patchouli here is smooth and shadowy, balancing the sweetness with a raw, chocolatey bitterness that feels expensive and intimate. It shares a DNA with the "syrupy" rose-patchouli scents we all know—think Si or La Vie Est Belle—but it's far more refined, stripping away the loud candy and replacing it with a noble, powdery elegance. It is a persistent, "beast-mode" performer, lingering on skin for over 12 hours and clinging to coats for days. It’s a fragrance for cooler air and dimly lit rooms—a scent that feels like a whispered secret rather than a loud announcement.

It’s says this fragrance is unisex. I disagree, definitely lies on the female side. However, it is a very good perfume. So sweet, I love it. While a little on the pricey side, I think it’s worth it when it’s on sale, 15-20% off etc.

Wow this is such a sweet and syrupy rose in the beginning but also very delicious, I don't find it overwhelming. After 10min or so the in initial burst settles down then you have a more subtle sweet scent. Quite wonderful

This fragrance is superb. The rose is bold and natural, never screechy. The pepper and bergamot wake you up in the opening notes but quickly make way for the Rose. The ripe fruits and hint of vanilla and chocolate bring a comforting mellowness for her to stand out against. This rose is confident and in control, nothing flirty about her. This is a powerful rose that's ready to lead the board meeting and take over the world. It is really strong. Two or three sprays max.

I tried this fragrance on at the shop, but it didn't agree with my body chemistry. It had a strong, sulfuric smell that was reminiscent of rotten eggs, and the scent lingered on my skin no matter how much I washed it. I had to wait for the scent to disappear. Eventually, after about six hours, I detected an extremely faint pleasant floral scent; alas, it wasn't worth the 6 hour sulphuric battle. Would I try this fragrance again? Definitely not. I'm glad I tested it before buying, or it would have been a pricey mistake. It smelled pretty on paper, but on my skin, it was a no-go. 🥚🍳🥚🍳 🥚 TRY BEFORE BUYING PLEASE, otherwise you might smell like a rotten egg too!!! A powdery chocolate rose. I like the combination of the notes, I think they all work really well together. The raspberry and blackcurrant give it a subtle fruitiness, the cacao note gives it some depth and texture and the patchouli gives it a nice, earthy base. This feels like a good work perfume to me (if applied sparingly). It gives off professional, competent, 'I know what I am doing' vibes. Versatile enough to also wear in the evening / on date nights too, if one so wishes.

Wow this is absolutely beautiful. Really impressive composition and quality. One of the best roses I've smelled on the market. Some of my other favorites are Parfait de Roses and Wega. If you enjoy those, give this one a try. Its in the same category of Roses without being too similar.

So yummy! Strong pink pepper, berries, and rose in the open, and it dries down to a soft creamy vanilla-benzoin. It's a fruity floral gourmand which I'd be afraid would be too teenager-smelling, but it's not, it's mouth-watering but elegant and the vanilla keeps it from floating away or becoming sharp. I don't smell the earthiness of the patchouli or vetiver listed. It's pretty squeaky clean. Not a sexy deep red rose or an innocent baby-pink rose, but a flirtatious dark pink rose.

This one was a disappointment. Although to be fair, I'm not a fan of blackcurrant or pink pepper so not sure what I was hoping for. It lasted about 5 hours on my skin and is one of the stronger fragrances in that collection. This one is very designer in my opinion. Not horrible at all, just not for me :)

Tried this blind in the shop so was not aware of its gourmand components... I really do not get on with it. So sweet and cloying with the raspberry, cacao and vanilla trifecta. I didn't get much rose at all, just this aggressive, slow, and heavy haze.... foolishly tried on skin as I am a rose lover! Subsequently scrubbed off. (I think the cacao note in particular is now a permanent no) Not saying it's vile or anything, but this style of perfume is just not for me. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who prefers florals over ambers or gourmands either.

I’m not a fan of rose scents, but tried this based on others reviews. I was really hoping this would be a chocolate berry fragrance with hint of rose, but it isn’t. It’s a heavily rose forward fragrance. The only notes I smell are 60% rose, 15% blackcurrant and maybe 15% raspberry. I get absolutely no cocoa or vanilla. I’d appreciate this on someone else, but it isn’t for me.

I don't think I like the patchouli used in this one. I don't know if it's also the earthy vetiver in combination with this scent profile that doesn't work for me. The initial burst is wonderful! It's tart roses, raspberry and chocolate, and then it starts to dry and another dimension is added or shall I say it morph's into another dimension. It's a spicy rose and there is something in it that reminds me of Portrait of a Lady and Hibiscus Mahajad in this, but it's missing that oomph factor that the both of those have. I like it but it's not a love. If only the initial blast was the same as the dry down, it would be a love if that were true.

Stunning jammy rose scent. This smells like a grown up, elegant version of dark kiss from bath and body works. First time I wore this I was almost tearing up because of how nostalgic it made me. Van cleef NEVER misses.

Absolutely gorgeous rose scent. I get blackcurrant before I get rose, but it’s such a lovely pairing that isn’t overwhelming. The dry down is creamy and soft. If it weren’t for the price point, I’d say this would be a brilliant blind buy.

What an exquisite beautiful rose perfume. I'm not even into rose perfume and love sweet floral but not too floral and this is just grabbed me. I crave it whenever it's chilly and dark out and want a warm sexy rose that's not too deep and a tad tart.

A piece of rose flavored cake served in a luxury restaurant ... enough said :) I usually hate obvious rose notes in perfumes but this one is masterfully blended that it doesnt trigger my sinus nor nausate me , its buttered up creamy rose rather than screechy or sharp like most perfumes where rose is predominant .. one of few rose scents i actually tolerate

Beautiful gourmand rose. Most prominent notes are rose jam, vanilla, and raspberry. To me, this is reminiscent of Signorina by Ferragamo. While Rose Rouge's longevity is better and it remains a rose-forward fragrance for longer, Signorina is easier to get at a reasonable price point and has a more well-balanced sweetness.

1st September 22°C in the shadow, sunshiny weather. Sumptuous red rose opening. The rose still in bloom but raspberry is changing her scent to gourmand. In comparison Rose Velour is more like fresh red and pink rose petals without gourmand aspect. La Vie Est Belle Rose Extraordinaire is similar to the opening of Rose Rouge. In the opening today I can also feel vetiver in the background, pale bergamot, a bit of black currant and pink pepper. This time the opening is so different to its winter start when she is a complex gourmand rose... so interesting. The scent falls apart a bit. Rose Velour on one of my wrists is whole with the stem and still gorgeous. I used to think Rose Rouge is heavier but today she is less sweet and lighter. Both have rose molecules of the lively and alive type. Vanilla is slightly soapy in the background. The rose pretty much gone. Rouge Velours is rosier and a fresh velour petal. I think it is not the best weather for Rose Rouge. Similarities to LVEB Rose Extraordinaire also ended. The slightly soapy element might be the cocoa.

Beautiful young fruity rose with enough sweetness. I think this is stunning. Reminds me of Byredo No Man’s Land but this is a tad sweeter and fruitier.

Rose Rouge is a great choice for those who love fruity-spicy-sweetish rose fragrances. The list of notes above is fairly accurate, and my trusty old sniffer could immediately detect rose, bergamot, blackcurrant, patchouli, pink pepper and vanilla. These are beautifully blended, without any sharp edges, and while the scent is rather sweet, it does not overwhelm. Furthermore, it doesn't have any vintage powderiness; so, if you're bothered by 'old lady' vibes, fear not, because this is a very modern rose (still I wouldn't call it youthful, because patchouli and spices steer it into the more 'mature' category). My main issue with Rose Rouge is that it's not very original. Those among us who love rose-patchouli combinations already own many similar fragrances, and I don't feel the need to invest in another one in a similar vein. Looking at my current collection, I'd say that Rose Rouge is most similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme (95%), then, Diptyque Eau Capitale (85%), Dior Midnight Poison (75%), etc. If you own any of these (or YSL Elle, Chanel Coco Noir EDP, Chanel Paris-Paris, FM Portrait Of A Lady, MFK Lumiere Noire Pour Femme, Diptyque Eau Rose EDP, MFK A La Rose EDP, Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie etc.), then you really don't need Rose Rouge.

Oh my! This house never fails me. Yet another banger! This is what I wanted Roses berberanza to smell like, instead I got sweaty nuts and booze in the drydown. This is rosy, slightly sweet, jammy, and deep. Considering a full bottle!
