Meander

bought a sample of this out of curiosity, since I'm trying to test out all the amouage fragrances. This feels kinda vanillic but it seems both vanilla and tonka are not in the notes, which i guess is why i like this more than other vanillic fragrances --- something about vanilla always causes me a bit of nausea from cloying sweetness and stickiness. I'm not sure what's replacing its "role" here, maybe the orris? maybe its the olibanum? either way - this is more mellow. it reminds me of Harvest Mouse (zoologist), Grasslands, Memoris of a Trespasser (imaginary authors), "Hudson River NY" (Gravel) etc. i.e. this sort of fresh/green/hay/sweet-ish combo that seems to be a recurring pattern. but it's done extremely well. Once again - the bottle colors perfectly capture the essence of the scent. It's creamy bright green. But green not like vegetation but more like matcha ice cream (without the bitterness). Definitely a major like - but probably too sweet for me to wear.

It smells like red lipstick. Very soft, pleasant but uninspiring.

This is a delightful, secluded scent, distant yet warm and vivid at the same time. Creamy and peppery, not sweet in any obvious way, yet somehow unmistakably sweet. It develops in stages, moving in curves, like a slow, blissful walk along a meander, and, almost imperceptibly, you sense the delicate scents of precious plants, sweet soil, and roots. Everything about Meander is just so good, subtle and refined, I love it. 10/10.

Absolutely beautiful, i really can't stop sniffing this! Overall this is quite a creamy, powdery scent, while the notes are all combined pretty well, the note that stands out the most i would say is the orris. It smells so dreamy, and while smelling this i envision a beautiful foggy landscape, this is what i imagine a beautiful heavenly misty foggy garden would smell like(vibes wise). Im not rlly someone who likes to categorize fragrances into genders, but id say it's perfectly unisex. And for who would like it and suit it, I'd say if u like something on the creamy side, but not nothing too heavy or too sweet, in fact this is a pretty light scent perfect for year round wear, then this is def for you. As for what type of person i would imagine someone who is rather quiet, introspective, but approachable and kind, i imagine someone who doesn't talk much, reads a lot, carries a soft aura to wear this perfectly. I may not use this as a signature scent since I don't really fit that description nor does it suit me, I think it smells soooooooooooo good and it is a must try, rlly underhyped when compared to other amouage fragrances

very powdery-creamy, aromatic mix of soft florals and sandalwood. Very pleasant and easy to wear, definitely unisex. Nothing particularly unique or outstanding, but it's a solid, well-blended scent. 5/10

Exceptionally well crafted and unusual in the best way possible. This is a smoother and more sophisticated Timber. Despite the ingredient list there is also the faint wisper of lavender, eucalyptus and bay laurel. Wear it on a foggy day or your next trip to northern California.

Creamy and earthy masterpiece. This is both the best creamy, and the best earthy perfume I have ever smelled. Although I do have figment man on the way!

Really demure. A milked green sandalwood. I think the carrot seed pushes this to be a bit too sweet/feminine.

It has more feminine feeling than I thought.

One of the most underrated Amouage. Purchased a sample for my husband and found myself sneaking little sprays of it so often that I had to grab one for myself. This perfume sings in rainy weather.

if you want something like like gris charnel with a slight twist you will be happy, very comforting scent. its light and hugs the skin so overspray for some reach but its easy wearing and none offensive... just like GC

A subtle, spicy, fresh, mysterious scent. I get a creamy sandalwood scent as well. This is a very calm and smooth scent. Just wish it performed better, but then that would maybe ruin the vibe that they were going for with this scent. 8/10

As far as scent profile goes, this fragrance is amazing. Not your typical daring Amouage fragrance, but it is unique in its own way. It’s very pastel in nature. The color of the bottle really paints the perfect picture of this scent. Creamy, calming, soft sandalwood, slightly spicy, powdery, vegetal, earthy, and unburnt frankincense throughout. Perfect scent for a rainy day or whenever you want to just feel peaceful and uplifted. Unfortunately, the performance is just so underwhelming. This scent is already so soft and airy. It projects for about an hour. After that it’s just a skin scent. And the skin scent lasts maybe 4-6 hours. You really have to spray this stuff on to get any sort of performance. And even with 15+ sprays it’s done projecting after an hour. And gone after six at the very MOST. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 3/10 Projection: 5/10

Grounding and calming, Meander is the reserved Amouge sibling, secure enough not to shout. There are fragrances that announce themselves like kings entering a grand hall. This meanders like a quiet scholar standing at the edge of the firelight in contemplation. It is earthy, dry and green, avoiding becoming vegetative like similar scents. Carrot seeds and cypriol make this textured, almost dusty in a beautiful way. And the pink pepper pops into life giving an introspective intelligence. Herby and uplifting, it is reminiscent of fragrances found on the natural counters of Le Labo, but with dialed up intent. A versatile scent that can be worn in a number of occasions by anyone thoughtful enough to give it a try. It meanders exactly as its name promises. Not lost. Just wandering deliberately.

This is so comforting and gentle... the creamiest sandalwood ever! If you are searching for a warm and cozy sandalwood, give it a try! It's not fresh and crispy... more like a bit sweet yet green and very creamy, like a favorite blanket on a rainy day! Longevity is great, sillage is moderate. It's not a beast mode, more like protective and comforting scent bubble. Perfect for rainy days...

Probably less bright than other Amouage scents. Still sweet and Arabic. Not too feminine and not too loud. Yet you can easily guess the brand.

I've seen people describe this as a more wearable 'Rabbit' from Zoologist and, although I haven't tried Rabbit, I'm still inclined to agree. From my experience with sampling Zoologist, the fragrances can be quite harsh with their synthetics and animalic facets and Rabbit is known to be a carrot cake fragrance which I think Meander does excellently. This is a very gentle and cozy fragrance and VERY unique; there is nothing remotely similar to it in my collection. If I had to sum up the fragrance in one sentence it would be "carrot cake in a bottle". It's lightly sweet, earthy, nutty, and perfect for a rainy and calm day. Not the kind of fragrance I would dress up but something that I would spritz on while I'm wearing an oversized T and baggy sweats or jeans. Out with friends to see a museum or sit in a cafe and read a book. It's the kind of fragrance that your quiet friend that everyone likes having around would wear. Longevity is absolutely fine, I think people are just upset that it doesn't scream off of the skin and has a modest and light scent bubble. I actually think if it was any stronger, it would be cloying and would ruin the fragrance!

This performs very oddly but it's a gorgeous scent. To my nose Meander is an ever so slighly floral but quite spicy sandalwood and frankincense fragrance. The sandalwood here gives off a very light pencil shavings-like vibe, but it complements the frankincense and spices so smoothly that this makes me think of café de olla, it has a warm spiciness to it that's very reminiscent of café de olla to me. Despite this being a spicy sandalwood and frankincense scent, it's surprisingly light and bright enough to be versatile for all year round. I haven't smelled that fragrance in a while but this was reminding me of Clive Christian's X for Men, although I remember that being a greener and less spicy scent. This is an excellent fragrance but I wouldn't necessarily call it one of Amouage's best, although it's hard to say since I love Amouage and there aren't many of their fragrances I dislike compared to those I do. Performance is very odd. This seems to have disappeared from my skin in a matter of one hour but I could catch constant whiffs of this for a good 6 or so hours so I suppose longevity is decent. Since this is very sandalwood heavy I would have thought my nose blindness to sandalwood would be to blame for me not smelling it on my skin anymore, but if that was the case it doesn't make sense I could smell myself no problem for a further 5 hours. This is also why I didn't go into details about the dry down. Projection overall was moderate leaning more towards an intimate bubble as neither my mom nor my sister commented on this at any point during the evening. Sillage was moderate leaning to dense. This is surprisingly muted for an Amouage, the only other fragrance of theirs I've tried that behaves this way is Reasons.

Meander is incredible, hypnotic, beautiful, and meditative. There is something very nostalgic and comforting about this scent, which exudes spring excitement and mystery. I love what others have said about this one wrapping itself around you like silk in the air. It has a creamy green-ness to it that feels almost fluffy and is very inviting. However, the performance on this one is bizarrely underwhelming to me, for an Amouage or otherwise. Like others have said, within an hour or two I can not seem to smell it at all, my skin seems to just drink this stuff. I may experiment with a base lotion to try to extend the longevity and may update after several wears because while it lasts, it is just incredible, but the performance precludes the Amouage price tag.

This is one of my favorite from Amouage. It is such an elegant signature scent worthy creation, and one of the absolute best sandalwood fragrances ever created. I have three backup bottles for various fragrances from the house, this is one of them. It lasts a long time, doesn't burn up the room, and feels like a sheet of silk wrapping around you in the air, I love it. I am an Amouage fanboy, and I have 22 different bottles from the house, including some discontinued classics, this one however is one I wouldn't hesitate to wear dressed up or just for a snazzy casual occasion. Don't under estimate its performance, it is an Amouage after all.

If Amouage could figure out a way to improve the sillage and longevity, this frag would be an all time great. I love the scent, but the performance is poor. You can overspray when putting it on, and within an hour not even a hint of it.

This is a nice Sandlewood fragrance. It has the lipsticky Orris in there that immediately turns my mind to feminine. Its a good blend of high quality ingredients as expected from Amouage, but it leans too far feminine for me. Performance is on point, but it required a good 7 sprays to get there, which is rare from Amouage, but I usually stick to the incense based offerings. It sits pretty close to the skin...7.75

Nose Note #900 To my this is like a spiritual predecessor to Reasons - I'm getting very similar milky chai accord here, but even more spicy. And it's also stronger than Reasons. Maybe it's the orris that's adding to the creaminess, and just thinking - it also reminded me of Molecule 01 + Iris (with its spicy earthy iris). Spices are beautiful here, but somewhat quirky giving off what smells to me like an orange note similar to what I get from Outlands. However in Outlands this orange undertone is perfect, here it feels quirky and a bit out of place. That particular undertone is hidden amidst the pile of spices and the milky tea feeling, so it's not that important. I'm also getting minor pickle vibes from Purpose 50 and Le Labo Santal 33 which I don't like. Strong in the best tradition of Amouage. Projection seems to be decent, at least I'm picking up strong whiffs for 5-6 hours. Just a solid fragrance in every sense. A bit more modern-niche than previous releases - it's also like a predecessor to Decision in a way, the connection is minor, but I feel like is already half-niche of what Decision fully developed into (to my nose Decision is super modern-niche-sweet-Bisch-style). 7.8/10, overall quirky, not my favourite from Amouage

Meander smells like playing Minecraft as a little kid in 2013 with the ambient music and the endless possibilities of each world. It’s calming yet nostalgic which almost makes it sad. I love it.

This is beautiful and unique in all the way possible. People need to stop comparing fragrances. Not all fragrances need to be loud, beast mode and long lasting. Fragrances are unique in their way to behave, last and smell. So please stop comparing fragrances to others. This is a must have from Amouage.

Not their best! Disappointed with the lack of projection and complexity which makes this house what it is.... Don't get me wrong, it's pleasant enough. A fresh opening of woods and musk on my skin and dry down gives me slight spice and Iris but after an hour, I feel like I never sprayed it! If you're wearing it on a night out, maybe take it with you for an hourly top up!

This is the ONLY fragrance over $100 that I’ve ever purchased a full bottle of, which should tell you how much I love it. Not a perfumer, so I’ll describe it as best as I can. It opens with a slight spiciness alongside a chalky, earthy, dusty carrot note. The carrot comes across as rooty and vegetal (hard to describe but I can smell a whiff of cooking carrot), with a subtle sweetness, but never gourmand. As it dries down, it becomes slightly creamy, smooth, and grounded, while still maintaining that earthiness. I’ve seen some comments from men saying Meander leans too feminine. As a man myself, I disagree. I would call it unisex but leaning masculine because of its earthiness and restraint. That said, it takes a very specific type of man to wear this. Someone self-assured, introspective, not seeking approval, maybe a little quirky (I mean I first tried Meander after blind buying a decant of it after seeing "carrot seeds" as a note and thought "Carrot seed? That sounds cool, let me try it". Most common reaction from my male friends has not be "that smells like a woman's fragrance" or "too feminine" but “I like it, just not for me.” I was complimented wearing Meander once by a stranger, a woman who said "That's a really pretty scent". Make of that what you will but the point is this is not a classic "sexy" scent. As I mentioned i purchased a whole 100ml bottle of Meander to wear as my signature scent (Jomashop had it for 40% off -only way for me to justify it), mainly because of its versatility. Its powdery woodiness shines in cool weather, but it never becomes oppressive in warmer temperatures (I was using like 4 sprays of the Decant). If I had to describe how Meander behaves, I would say it “hums” around you rather than announcing itself. You get random whiffs of it as you move about your day. It isn’t a compliment bomb, and maybe that’s intentional. People generally need to be close to smell it, as it sits closer to the skin compared to most other Amouage fragrances. I would describe it as an introvert’s fragrance. Performance is excellent. I can still detect the drydown on my skin 10–11 hours later, and on clothing it lasts even longer. I’m sure there may be fragrances similar to this, but I personally haven’t encountered one yet. Meander feels truly unique in both its composition and behavior.

Seemed like a lightly rose floral sandalwood type scent vibe. Very easy and light. One you almost notice more when you aren't paying attention than when you try to smell it actively Much softer than I had anticipated, I place it in the barely noticeable category. Smells nice though. Sandalwood, iris, and light florals most present for me. Still smelling this on my coat a few days later, reminscent of Javanol. Possibly why I can barely smell this, have trouble smelling that.

I blind bought this and it came in today. I’ve been wearing it all day and I just reapplied so here are my thoughts: I’ll start off by saying that I’ve never smelled anything like this at all. It’s not strong, but it lasts a long time, and it’s one of those perfumes where you’ll get random whiffs of it over 8-10 hours instead of a constant cloud. It’s very dry and earthy without smelling dirty or rough. It’s such an unusual scent but it’s so addictive for some reason. Usually with amouage, I have to kind of grow into them, even on the ones that I liked a lot the first time I smelled them. But this is one that I’m already addicted to. I bought a 50ml bottle and I’m actually worried that I may run out soon despite the amount of perfumes I have in my collection. It’s creamy and a touch bitter, but equally as sweet (imagine the sweetness from a carrot juice, not a vanillic sweetness) that really balances it out beautifully. This is one of the crazy underrated Amouage’s that I think is really perfect for a signature scent because it’s insanely unique, but at the same time it’s relatively versatile and it’s not overpowering while still lasting a long time. 9.8/10. Gorgeous perfume. Edit; I’ve been smelling this on a tester strip while chilling and watching a show. This thing really has a grip on me. Edit #2: woah. The more I smell this perfume, the higher it shoots up on my list of favorite perfumes. If I had to describe the scent in a way without using notes, I would describe it as so; a dark and windy day in early March with light drizzle and the faint, but sweet aroma of the earth. You’re out in nature but it’s eerily quiet besides the wind, and it feels like the perfect start to a zombie apocalypse movie. Like the calm before the storm… but the storm never arrives. Meander is calming, yet weirdly keeps you on edge. It’s oddly addictive. This isn’t the scent of a perfume that’s meant to smell sweet and alluring and sexy and boring. It doesn’t even smell like a perfume. It’s like a place that you’ve visited in the past. Maybe when you were a kid, or maybe in a distant dream. This is one of the best Amouage’s I’ve ever smelled (although aren’t they all?) 9.9/10.

i love this. i don't know why, but to me this feels very nostalgic. the opening is a little too earthy, slowly starts turning into a very soft and comforting scent. the only problem i have with this is the longevity, compared to other amouages the performance on this is somewhat disappointing, but i think the scent makes up for it in a way.
