On me this smells way too spicy, sticky, sweet and girly. I really thought this would be gothy and dark and smoky but I get manic pixie vibes from the late 90s early 2000s instead. It’s nice I guess. Not for me.
!! If you like fresh and lightweight scents you will hate this actually… It has a very heavy incense scent that i can only smell rose and incense. Actually… forget about the rose, you will just get incense smell from this. I forgot that i have it until now haha but ‘ will not use it unfortunately. As a heavy perfume lover i would not recommend but it is ok.
Modern, more gourmandy take on Poison by Dior. Sweeter and more intense to meet today’s consumer’s needs. Same gothic femme fatale vibe. 3 times the price. I waited until it was available at discounters, I love it but it’s not worth the full price to me.
this stuff is so damn good, it dont make no sense...as my grandmother would say. She wears Poison. But when I got her a sample of this, she felt it was a better ramped-up 'twin' of Poison. She likes her scents HEAVY...so thats what got her attention more than anything. And the clove note, made her mouth water. Xmas rolled around, and I got this for her. And I'll be double dipping because its unisex enough for the bros, too. Beautiful stuff...and to me, its in that top 10 of Amouage's best perfumes.
I love this. As an alt woman, once I read someone's review that it smells "evil", I knew I had to try it. It is indeed a very dark, intimidating scent. Very witchy. Definitely has some of the Poison DNA. It reminds me a little of Midnight Poison, actually. I'm surprised there's no patchouli! Despite its darkness, it is still very pretty and distinctly feminine. The rose is ranked low in the notes here, but to me it shines through pretty loudly, along with the cloves!
If Dior Hypnotic Poison edp collab with Dior Poison edt that would be the outcome. Maybe it is just my nose but I can smell both in this perfume. Absolutely beautiful straight upon the first spray 😍
When I smell, Memoir I smell, Carlisle (PDM)whit some different notes, is my opinion, 9/10,great.
Selling my Memoir bottle. Gently used, full presentation. UK shipping only
If anyone has this for sale in the UAE, please reach out to me at [email protected]
Smells like an old lady perfume, I think the belongings of one of my old teacher smelled faintly of this scent profile. Or something of the sorts. Incensy, spicy, dark. Smells like tea, some kind of it at least. Like a bitter, funky jasmine. I would also describe it as herbal-ly and almost medicinal. Not sweet at all. It lingers and smells the same throughout, I guess you would call that 'cloying'? But it's not at all sweet. I feel like I've smelt this scent before but I can't put a finger on it. I've smelt this scent often in middle eastern/south Asian stores often. Not safe for blind buy. It is certainly a polarising scent, but for me it's a familiar scent, so I could tolerate it quite well. I would layer it with something sweeter to brighten the tone, if I were to wear it more casually. It is a strong scent, if you're wearing it outside, a little is enough. The funkiness of this scent might throw people off, especially those who are not used to the scent profile. First perfume I've gotten from Amouage - blind buy too haha. (Unsure if mine is a fake or not, since I've gotten it as quite a low price, so I'm not sure.) Not exactly what I was looking for, I wanted a spicy, bright perfume, so maybe I'll try Epic and Lyric next.
I am in search for a bottle, for sale or for trade. If you have one in EU and you are willing to sell send me a message !!
I am not saying they smell the same... But this gives me the same impression on my wife that Paloma Picasso did back in the late 80s and early 90s. Sexy AF
No i dostałam dokładnie to. W bazie zostaje czarny aksamitny tren. Skóra, kadzidło, dym, ziołowa gorycz, trochę popiołu, trochę nocy i ten specyficzny luksus Amouage, który nie mówi „mam pieniądze”. On mówi: „mam dynastię, sekret i bardzo dobrego prawnika”. Projektanci napisali Pewnie coś o tajemnicy, wspomnieniu, szyprze, absyncie, elegancji, skórze, kadzidle i kobiecości.
The first hour is a strongly vintage lily of the valley with a hint of rose, something you know from your grandmothers, but gently covered with a layer of modern cloth that does not allow the scent to fall into an unpleasant retro. Then it gets into more and more modern variation on this distinctive older variant, a touch of leather and animality is added which gains emphasis with time. A dark purple scent with medium sillage and apparently good longevity suitable for mature conscious wearer.
I absolutely adore getting this one out just to smell at times. A beautiful composition. Seriously one of the best female fragrances ever made. Kind of gothic, but beautiful. hypnotic almost!
This is a beast of a fragrance that’s dark and incensy and for those who want to make a statement with there smelly game. It’s potent! There is a time and a place for this fragrance and the office and casual day time is not is but for a date night or special occasion this one one fit the bill. Not mine I’ll be upgrading to a full bottle but was nice to experience
i can’t explain it but this scent smells evil
Gorgeous perfumery! One of the best from Amouage imho.
Amouage #14 – Creatures of the night? Memoir Woman was pitched to me as the ultimate gothic, vampiric perfume and that got my mind going. Winding roads amongst mountainous landscapes, leading to centuries old stone castles. Gargoyle statues, massive creeking wooden doors and grand dining tables so long that you cannot hear the person sitting at the other end. Dark red roses dripping with blood, immortal creatures living on lands where the sun never rises. Everything Nosferatu, only more authentic, more real, more...inhumanily human, more unnaturally natural. (As a side note, I admit i found the recent Nosferatu movie to be good in some ways but also forced and not immersive enough to me. It couldn’t make me forget that im watching a movie and it couldn’t trick me that its not an actor in a costume. The portrayal of the main antagonist but also the victim felt like intentionally exagerated and dramatic theater performances. Anyways, back to the perfume...) Smelling it now, in some ways the scent matches that aesthetic and in other ways it doesn’t, altho not in a negative way. Memoir Woman has all the elements that make a perfume fit a gothic art direction, only the result paints a different picture then i thought. Its not cold, austere, grandiose and terrifying as i expected. Quiet the opposite, its warm, cozy, intimate in terms of scentprofile and...more humane then monster. It doesn’t make me think of a vampire couple sitting at the opposite ends of a dining table in a grand ball room built out of stone but instead they cuddle in a bed, in a small room well warmed by a fireplace. The bed is regal, the sheets are crimson red. Their eyes betray their nature, their fangs clearly visible yes, but they mean no harm. They aren’t predators, only recluse creatures seeking peace, far away from others. Two glasses stand on the bedside table, with dark red liquid in them. Surprisingly it is not blood, but thick red wine. I would like to highlight the wine part because Memoir Woman features a deep and rich smokey-boozy facet to my nose. The boozy accord doesn’t feel sharp or alcoholic in the slightest, perhaps boozy isn’t even the right word and syrupy fits better. The scent lies on an ambery base that isn’t the most resinous or characterful for that matter yet to me its still the main accord of the scent. Its an amber built like a pillow that facilitates the cozy warmth of the perfume, caressed by the rose and the velvety dark red elements. I don’t distinctly get incense, castoreum or spices and even the rose feels numb in a way, as if the rose itself is dormant and dazed. Overall, the scent feels intentionally not flamboyant but instead mature. Despite being marketed towards women, i think it passes as unisex with only an ever so slight femme fatale leaning. I said about Portrait of a Lady that its a rose perfume that demands respect and i believe Memoir Woman has an equal level of seriousness oozing from it. There have been very few perfumes that i personally couldn’t imagine being worn outside a strictly formal ocassion but this is one of them. That sums up what i think of Memoir Woman and i believe it beats Portrait of a Lady in terms of being a formal perfume, even if only by a small margin.
I love Amouage fragrances. Guidance is a forever love. And Portrayal Woman is the only perfume that compelled me to purchase a back-up bottle (I think Portrayal is out-of-production). I was stoked to afford a full bottle of Amouage "Memoir Woman." On my skin, the Memoir Woman's opening is jarring but also addicting. Spicy, mixed white florals (lots of jasmine, rose) merge with animalic notes. And before I forget, wormwood provides an anise, or black licorice accord. The opening castoreum and labdanum seamlessly merge with spices (LOTS of cardamom, LOTS of wormwood, pepper, clove) along with florals, resins, woodiness and smoky incense. The drydown is gorgeous and truly lovely. There's rose. There's sweet, smoky, resinous incense. There's a non-indolic, white-floral combo that smells divine. The drydown definitely maintains a unique and seamless blend of spices, animalic tones, florals and earthiness. And despite its hefty list of perfume notes, Memoir actually wears in a light and diaphonous manner. I've heard rumblings that Memoir Woman may be out of production soon. I just purchased a new x 100ml bottle from the Amouage Website. Happy!! I love it!!
Temu has it for $20.
Smells like grape jolly rancher. It’s interesting. Had a dominatrix come into the store and love this stuff. So if you wear leather and have tattoos try this out. Dark and interesting
Memoir Woman has been an unexpected but welcome discovery for me, a scent I have overlooked after so many disappointments from Amouage. This perfume is absolutely beautiful, such an impressive creation, but I’m not entirely sure it’s ‘me’. The notes are spot on: it’s dry, soft spicy, woody and earthy - in particular the warm smokiness of cardamom matched with a dry leather is most prominent. It smells like a dusty jacket and a leather briefcase, for some reason tossed into a cupboard of mixed spices and dried herbs. Memoir is dark and brooding, serious and mature yet never becomes challenging. It always remains perfectly restrained and sophisticated which is what I love. I would happily own a bottle of this, but can I stomach the price?
Beautiful, intoxicating scent but I think the animalic note is too much for me, because behind the gorgeous incense and amber there's a dirty diaper note. I wish I was kidding. Hoping it goes away
This is so potent! just 1 drop on my wrist and the scent projects like crazy, it has been a few hours and it is still powerful...just 1 drop...Oh wow. This is a bomb! Maybe I tried this in the past and didn't like it? maybe I have changed? did this scent change? now I like it a lot. It is a multilayered, resinous, spicy, incense and white florals perfume. It is a powerful scent that seems to be traveling in time, it feels like it belongs to the original Poison family, in the early 80s. In the best possible way! It is so good! wow, what a perfume!
One of my favourites, although my mom told about it after testing - "smells like crematorium to me". Then she tried it after some - " definitely crematorium" 😄💀
Okay so, this perfume is definitely not for everyone because nearly all of my friends hated it. However i really really like it. To me, it totally just smells like roses and incense. Little bit of pink pepper too. I think it is perfect for a night out. Definitely not for a sunny day... It has a gothic vibe which i think Morticia Addams would wear this and would make it her signature scent. Also has a really really gloomy dark vibe. If you dont like roses or incense you will hate this.. Also after dry down incense note becomes more apparent. I always hated rose notes but this perfume somehow helped me to get over my preconception🩷
I was really excited to try this perfume for spooky season after reading all the great reviews, but it ended up being a huge disappointment for me. It smells like the inside of a coffin mixed with something decaying, with a sharp tart note and a hint of baby diapers.
Such a beautiful fragrance. But I own the newer version bought a few yrs ago, still amazing , I’d love an older bottle: if anyone wants to sell me their older batch, or maybe do a swap, I have a 50ml bottle of Fate for woman, a few vintage discontinued Tom Fords, a half bottle of MFK Ciel de Gum and many others I can swap for a vintage Memoir Woman. Message me if interested.
Amazing stuff, not too far away from Memoir Man. Both have been brutally reformulated so try to get an old batch. My Memoir Woman is from 2018, and it's darker, more resinous and less fruity than the recent iteration. This might go against it for some, but for me it's exactly what I want. It does bear some of the Poison DNA, although when you smell them side by side they are worlds apart (sort of similar in connection to Fate Woman alongside Opium). It lacks the greeness and vanilla of the men's version, instead being warm and resiny (similar resinous base to Interlude Woman), and is not quite as loud. The notion that either of them is masculine or feminine is moot to me. These are olfactive artworks, not easy to wear perhaps, but an absolute joy to those who get it. If you feel it, it will suit you, if not, it will probably wear you and make you uncomfortable, as with many Amouage perfumes. One of the things I love about this, is that as it develops over time, little delicate elements come in, like white florals (tuberose!), rose, grapey jasmine underpinning it all (and smelling almost like plum hence the nod to Poison), but they're all swirling around, so every sniff brings something different, deep and rich or impish and playful, it's masterful.
