In Red EdP

Morillas often plays with contrasting elements (and I like him for that), so I presume the opening of this fragrance was supposed to be a sort of yin-yang interplay between the refreshing, uplifiting ginger and warm, velvety cardamom, while the citrusy notes were added to smooth the edges. This intention was not exactly well translated, since cardamom really takes over and it is what creates both effects, the “nail polish remover“ and a rather synthetic feel, mentioned in the other comments below. It's also what pushes this fragrance more into unisex rather then feminine direction. So, if it weren't for the pretentious dramma-king, this would have been a very pleasant women's fragrance. Perhaps nothing groundbreaking and unique, but well-executed - which, honestly, matters to me more than just being “unique“, but if you can find a good combination of both, you have a winner. This one has solid quality ingredients and higher oil concentration providing a very good performance too, surprisingly so at this price point. It does improve a bit over time, the contrast becomes less sharp, but cardamom still prevails. I have found a layering combination that works for me; I guess the same could be achieved (more easily?) if you lean towards sweet-gourmand fragrances. Cardamom has this velvety facet that you can use to your advantage. Just don't 'fight' it by using a very citrusy or another ginger-forward fragrance, because it will very likely intensify the spicy sharpness of both, giving you a cleaning product blast.

Nose Note #434 Damn it, just like In Red EDT and just the same nail polish remover smell. I just can't describe it in any other way. If I try my best to dig into the scent, then it does have a lot of ginger on top of citruses and underneaf there are some flowers that support top notes. But it smells far far from pleasant to me. Unnatural. Thankfully, it doesn't last long... And it also has this feeling of cheap brands like Avon, La Rive, Faberlic, Oriflame... 4/10. Bad, but some may like it

Citruses, spices, and flowers. In Red (IR) EDP is a beautiful clash of three accords: fresh, zesty bergamot and orange; soft, warm, spicy, energizing cardamom and ginger; and finally tender jasmine petals and watery lilies and violet leaf. Fresh, zesty, spicy, floral, soft, feminine, deep. Three different accords working together to create the wonderful aroma of IR EDP. A complex yet simple oxymoron of a perfume. If I'm to oversimplify it, IR EDP is the modern feminine iteration of Cartier's classic Declaration (and its flankers). They share a very similar dominant olfactory theme of cardamom and citrus. However, in IR EDP the particular addition of 3 flowers, jasmine, violet leaf, and lily of the valley, add feminine tenderness, and watery freshness, that transforms the smell wonderfully into a womanly one. The violet leaf adds a paint-like aspect to the scent that, despite how it sounds, smells beautiful and in place right next to the rest of the colorful clashes in IR EDP. That unusual smell appears in the middle and fades about an hour later. This is not unusual in perfumery, as the famous Dior Fahrenheit has a "gasoline" smell to it and it's loved by thousands if not millions. As it dries down, it gets fresher as the citruses become more prominent, turning into a more cleaner, almost soapier scent. Overall, IR ED is fresh, spicy, zesty, floral, and quite feminine. There is so much going on in IR EDP. It is truly beautiful. It grows on you quickly. There is a certain emotion to it. Something chic, cute, and girly, yet deep and almost melancholic. Maybe conflict of notes or maybe it's the nostalgia kicking in from the similarity with the 22 years old Cartier Declaration. A beautiful scent that took multiple sniffs to fully appreciate. Springtime would be ideal, as well as warm weather, but I see it working for all seasons. Nicely versatile. This Alberto Morillas creation gets a big "Like". I need to try more Basi.

Amazing fresh scent. Citrusy but in a (positively) different way. I get compliments whenever I wear this. It s modern and feels elegant- which citrusy notes usually don't give that impression.. By the way, remember to try it on someone else to see how it is.. ıf you try it on yourself, your nose goes blind and you get different notes..

I just bought this EDP version from a discounter (FragranceBuy . ca) for fairly good price. I discovered this fragrance with EDT not too long ago from my stash of miniatures and I thoughts I’d give a try. I absolutely loved the scent on my skin, didn’t expect to be that good, although it’s marketed as ladies’, it’s absolutely wearable for most men as well. So when I found that there were two options to choose from, either EDT or EDP on the discounter site mentioned above, after checking both on here, I decided to give the EDP a go for this time hoping that it should last much longer than EDT. Well, the truth is, it’s still faint for me as I normally wear heavy darker and sweet Oriental fragrances. I knew from the get go that this one would be a fresh airy fragrance but only disappointment is it doesn’t stay very long time and doesn’t project as much as I wanted to be. So I super over-sprayed AND keep refreshing almost every few hours so that I can enjoy this beautiful aroma, combination of woody fresh floral scent just like the breeze from the spring mountain after the rain. It’s a very poetic fragrance just like how the bottle is presented. So overall, I still love the scent, the image & artistic flair of this brand but only one wish still remains, I wished it was a little more pronounced in the way that I could have beautiful atmosphere around me for much longer than it is. Nonetheless, I still enjoy it and keep spraying on myself all over my clothes and on my skin almost like Evian water spray....😂🤣 But I think people can smell it when they get closer.

With all the combination, I can make a short conclusion, which is "like a Japanese camellia garden in a ruby cube."

For me, very ginger root centric, touch of cardamom, with soft citrus and florals. Staying power is good to excellent. This, IMHO, will be a great refreshing summer scent. Sillage is fairly close, but apparent.

Was looking for Nazareno Gabrielli Tu perfume dupe, it is almost identical in the opening. Tremendous staying power, lasts over 12 hrs on my skin, soft silage though. Elegant and classy. Could be used by men like Nazareno Gabrielli Tu. Tu has more sparkling freshness while spices predominate in this one.

citrus top notes—it reminds me a bathroom freshener

Very woody and spicy smell. Great longevity, lasting about 8 hours. Perfect for winter.

At first I get a huge citrus-ginger-cardamon blast then after maybe 5 mins it softens by flowers with a hint of musk. The drydown is very pleasant, slightly spicy and a bit powdery. To me, it could be a nice office scent, the sillage is very soft, though it's pretty long lasting (5 hours on me). I really enjoy wearing it in spring, very refreshing and uplifting!
