Avon's Fine Gold offers yet another blissful journey over the well-trod terrain of a now-classic scent profile: with the soft succulence of a decalalactone-peach, a full bouquet of white florals, and the solid serenity of ambre-santal at its base. Fine Gold's exact route through this pleasant landscape is a sweet and gentle pathway without towering precipices or plunging depths. Comparisons are too numerous to fully address. The peach, of course, summons recollections of such vintage treasures as Casmir or Femme Rochas, but rare Gold is much less vanillic than the former, and lacks the latter's mossy gravitas. Perhaps, reimagining this as a more simplified Fath de Fath, comes closer to the mark. I sample here from a vintage bottle with the semicircular, fan-shaped cap.

Old but gold, it is insane how it gets me soo many compliments, it shines more in warmer months. Love it so much.

Surprisingly very good, very put together, grown up and clean with a deliberate twist of effortless elegance. I smelled Chanel n.5 just a handful of times but they share the same concept in my nose, surely not any dna or other specific similarities but the general feeling was instant. I somehow finished the 50ml bottle very fast, it was that light! Sure I overspray but it didn’t make sense. Anyway, I will hold a little grudge towards it because my former boss just adored it when we were in enclosed spaces like the elevator, he didn’t compliment anything but always had a good word when I wore it. Only that one, not even more expensive or complex fragrances. But I hate his guts soooo here we go. Thanks for ruining it for me. 😂

I have a vintage bottle version, and it's still true to its original scent. It smells much more designer than you would expect from Avon but I am not surprised as it's by Olivier Cresp. Long-lasting and a heady warm floral with a prominent Amber note.

There was a time when this kind of fragrance seemed too mature or dense for me. I'm in my 40's now and find quite the opposite - it's the sweet fragrances, that I used to love, that are too overwhelming. These "vintage" or "vintage-esq" fragrances now seem almost magical in how they work on my skin, and how I'm perceiving them. Rare Gold is no exception. As per the usual for these - the magic is in the dry down. This is a fragrance that does not smell "cheap".

I purchased a vintage parfum mini bottle. Immediately, two fragrances came to mind... One was vintage Amarige, as many others have also mentioned. But even more strikingly similar to me was Shahd by Lattafa. They are truly alike. If Amarige and Rare Gold are sisters, then Shahd is the modern daughter who has inherited Rare Gold’s genes very strongly. Personally, I would say they are over 95% identical. Both evoke Amarige with their peach and sweet fruits, ylang-ylang, tuberose, jasmine, and neroli—like golden honey basking under the sun, a scent filled with joy. The subtle difference lies in this: Rare Gold is just slightly lighter and more floral than Shahd. Shahd has deeper spicy undertones and a scent more saturated with the nectar of sweet fruits. Rare Gold shows more clearly defined transitions between top, middle, and base notes, while Shahd shifts through them in a smooth gradient. The most notable difference is in the dry-down: Rare Gold reveals a slightly nutty, almost almond-like note, while Shahd fades slowly with a growing warmth of sun-kissed spices. When consciously comparing them side by side, the differences can be find. But if someone else were wearing them, I doubt anyone would notice a distinction. If you ever find yourself longing for that vintage scent, I highly recommend trying Shahd by Lattafa.

I had a sample of it and I liked it very much. Then I bought a bottle and it smells different. And I dont like it anymore. From love to hate.

Rare Gold is charming. It won't stand out as fantastic in a large collection. It's 80s big and 90s fruity. Upbeat and pretty. It think it might be a knockout on a hot sunny summer day. It's not fully complex like the old white flower bombs. There's really something tropical and cheerful with the ylang and orange blossom and white flowers. You know how some white flower perfumes are yellow? Well Rare Gold is definitely gold or orange. Gaultier Classique, Moribito Or, Arthes Arome, yes yes yes.

This is a delicious, warm, golden fragrance! Just got it recently along with rare pearls, and I definitely prefer this one! Rare gold starts off really strong and intimidating, sharp too! but starts to mellow down into a sweet, warm but elegant scent. She's like a fierce lioness coming home to her cubs after a hunt, fierce at first but loving later on. She has great presence and smells more expensive than the price she is sold at. Definitely recommended to ladies who wish to have an imposing but sweet and warm fragrance. Not recommended to blind buy as it's not for everyone.

when I first smelled it i thought it reminded me of something but couldn't put my fingers on it. Then few days later I smelled it and and boom, I immediately knew what it reminded me of: Cabotin the gres! Old school, bombastic, tuberosey and jasminey. Nice one, I ended up gifting cabotin to my sister, think I will gift this one to my mum. But it's nice, soapy smelling and long lasting.

İ Will Use This Perfume, Forever: This Perfume, equivalent word of the Vintage: Such Floral, Aldehydic, İt Gives To Me A REAL Sense of Cleanliness( Sorry Byredo Blanch, You Will Cry The Corner). İt İs So Similar To Amariage From Givenchy; But İt İs Little Bit Weak Than Amariage On My Skin, Like A EDT Version. However, Considering the Price Differences and Accessibility; You Will Understand Why Avon Gold is in My Favorites Of All Times.

I anticipated this would be beautiful, but it truly exceeds expectations - no surprise, given that it’s an Olivier Cresp creation. This aldehydic fragrance feels fresh and modern, more so than many from the ’90s. It’s sweet, playful, and effervescent - if I hadn’t known it was from Avon, I would have guessed Chanel, with subtle nods to Gabrielle and Cristalle. I absolutely love it; my only wish is that the bottle were yellow instead of gold

This perfume One of the best seller in Avon Shop and one of the most elegant Classy vintage perfumes, Flory woody fragrance with a little amount of powder will be depneth and depneth after dry down in 1-2 hours. Hi Everyone, literally registered to give my review on this one. Stalked it, read every single review there was. Fell in love with the description and bought a whole bottle. So, to my disappointment.. nothing at all what I thought. First spray wanted to smell almost sweet. But then all I get is soap soap soap. Oh my, and its a harsh sharp soap that kind off annoys your nose and throat. I Also notice upon ordering it, it stated "EDP refresh" so they made it weaker than the original one I guess. I would not recommend to young adults. This is definitely more 40's 50's. Maybe it just doesn't agree with my skin. I will however try this again in summer conditions...

ONE OF THE ONLY reasons why miss living in NYC is because I use to be able to purchase Avon off of the street for a 3rd of the cost than what it's worth. This and Rare Pearls was my signature scent and lasted throughout the day. I miss this and need to purchase a new bottle soon.

This perfume was a scent I've followed ever since a child, my mother introduced me to Avon and I became obsessed. The warmness of the amber is intoxicating and the whole scent is heavy but "mute" (only way I can describe it) but not too much to the point of smelling powdery or fresh. It's soft and feminine, my favorite amongst the collection and I honestly believe it can be used for any season.

I tried this some 10 years ago and I remember I adored the scent but it was too weak and not durable. I never repurchased for that reason. As I am constantly on the search for nostalgic white floral bombs, recently I came across this again and read many reviews about how long-lasting and powerfully projecting it was. So I decided to give it a second chance. Maybe there is a difference in each batch they produce? Or could it be that this is the only perfume Avon improved in quality instead of ruining? Nope. Unfortunately, I stand with my first opinion. Yes, the scent is hypnotizing, sweet white/yellow floral. I love ylang-ylang and there is plenty of that. Similar to Poeme and Amarige, but much more affordable and easier to find. But, alas. If I want to smell anything at all, I have to spray really, really generously and reapply every 3 hours, and it's still mostly just a skin scent, like wearing a rich perfumed body cream. It's also quite annoying that this is one of the very few perfumes Avon doesn't have in a mini version, bc those mini 10 ml bottles are very practical to carry in your makeup purse, they give you a chance to test wear a perfume before buying the whole thing, and usually, they are more intense than the regular size bottles. Maybe, Rare Gold was never successful enough for them to make a mini version? Anyway, I suppose I won't be buying this again, which is a pity bc the scent is exactly what I like. Rare Pearls remains the only one of the Rare collection that I consider a great find with performance good enough to be worth repurchasing.

It is quite gold in terms of its packaging and aldehydic structure which creates a nostalgic taste. I can call it as the No5 of the Avon. It is very strong. Even one spray on my wrist last more than 5-6 hours.

Warm, embracing, long-lasting, and at a very good price. I generally like perfumes from 90s, these smell like a classic, safe-buy scent. As far as I know, the original bottle was hanged since 1995, that's a pity, the previous one was more appealing to me.

I used to wear this perfume for many years. It is heavy and long-lasting. It is a good choice for an independent lady in a party or a gathering.

Анонім

it smells like old homemade soap. I passed it on, definitely an old lady's perfume. Nothing fancy about it

Reminds me of Paco Rabanne frag DNA. Super rich and luxurious, even opulent. Love it!

My mum wore the OG Avon Rare Gold when it was first released. Before that, she spent the last 80s and early 90s earring Poison. While I haven't smelled the original Rare Gold since I was a kid, the scent of similar perfumes instantly transports me back to being a kid watching my mum get ready for work right before she gave me my cuddle goodbye for the day. You know that smell - it's the smell of your mum's perfume and her warmth when she wraps you up in a cuddle. The original Rare Gold was white floral heavy (from memory), and it's the perfume that started my lifelong love of white floral perfumes. Some people would say this perfume is a bit heavy, old-fashioned and more suited for nighttime wear, but if you love white florals the way I do, this perfume is a delightful cheapie (especially if you can get a bottle of the original fragrance that was released in the nineties).

I inherited my mom's perfumes when she retired, and Rare Gold is one that I associate very strongly with her. I remember many, many evenings where she came home from work smelling like this perfume. It's warm, assertive without being aggressive, and comes across kind of classy despite its humble origins. Just like Mom. I haven't worn it yet, but sometimes I take it out and smell it just for the nostalgia trip. Reminds me of simpler times.

Анонім

I do really like this one but I will say the musk is a sharp musk. To the point where if you spray it too close to your neck, it could make you start coughing. The overall smell is not bad at all. Very pretty and clean like a luxury soap or body oil but I do recommend spraying the crook of your elbow, wrists or further down on clothing so you can get whiffs of it and not the full fragrance head on because head on is a bit much. I'm not sure how old the people are saying this is a mature smell for older women but I'm 33 and I'd wear it. Then again, I also like 90's florals like 5th Avenue.

Анонім

The aldehydic alcoholy note is really strong in this one. Elegant and way too mature honestly. I see it more suited for an older woman with appreciation for vintage fragrances.

Nah smells vintage and sharp, too strong somehow

I said I’d renew my review if anything changed, and it has! This rare gold has move into a like for me! I add a bit of amber/ sandalwood & it reminds me of an old favorite , YLS YVRESS(Champagne) ! Who knew! Peachy light amber delight!
