Very nice sweety frag for men.
Opening wasn’t good at all, I didn’t had any expectations from it. But when it settled down the fragrance was so good, it was creamy vanilla-ish, ambery little bit leathery but very calm and pleasant. Luxury masculine vibes. Very balanced sweetness not overpowering or feminine. Only issue is it doesn’t project very well, you will feel the fragrance for first couple of hours but it stays close to the skin most of the time. Now I am finding something similar which has better projection and longevity. If anyone can recommend me i will be grateful. So if anyone who wants a calm and balanced scent can try this. I feel it’s mass appealing after settling down but not for those who just want a very loud projecting scent.
I got a 50 ml bottle for cheap at Rossman, much cheaper than online. I oversprayed myself to work with this today (once again I remind that I work in an industrial environment, I can do that) and already got a compliment. Nice and oakey-ambery, I am *very* noseblind to red apple, I couldn't quite feel it in Coral Fantasy either, but I can tell it's there along with the whiskey note. The mandarin feels overshadowed, but whatever. I'd say it also feels more like an orange though. A very elegant-casual thingy that will do wonders in cold weather. Feels versatile for a winter/fall frag, I'd say that's awesome! My only problem with it is the silliage and the longevity, not lasting all that long. You need a few extra sprays for better performance. Other than that, I'll happily wear this more and maybe buy the 100 ml once I run out. EDIT: BARLESSARINI!!!!! I NEED AN EDP VERSION OF THIS!!! I NEED THIS TO LAST LONGER!!!!
This was my first-ever designer fragrance. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Synthetic ,synthetic ,synthetic . Spare your money for something better !
I tried two different batches.. Again and again. What a nice scent ? What a poor longevity ? Tester version: 15 minutes - really Classic version: 35 minutes - really Were from different shops.. Too bad, let's move on.. :/
Great fragrance with poor longevity. Its a crisp sweet Apple with a bit of booze and an ambery roundness. Nice, familiar yet great masculine scent. Very versatile. Unfortunately, doesnt perform on my skin. Had to sell it. But if you're ok with that, and you're a collector, just buy cause it smells damn good.
Interesting perfume but weak performance. I put on my hands then 30min after it’s weak. Smell wise it’s good one. Im very picky at perfumes and this one has that masculine black suit and cuban cigarette user type vibe to it. Very classy. I’m not getting the whisky notes from it. I will wait maybe few weeks for macerating. Not recommend for daily wear. Good for suit occasions. I will drop another review after while for this. See you then.
For me, it's like late autumn in a bottle. The perfect setting would be dry, cold, almost freezing day. That's when this scent shines: it's very elegant leathery scent. But it's a delicate note of leather. Maybe a bit cold smoke, or even ashes. It's faint and powerful at the same time. Personally, I love it. It's definitely not very versatile. I use it mostly, when I know I will spend a lot of time outside in autumn.
It does definitely smell synthetic, that’s for sure. But the combination of fake apples and weird faux leather creates something with a bizarre allure for me. I keep going in for more sniffs. I don’t really know how to explain what it smells like beyond “unique date night chemical for men.” It doesn’t evoke real world objects for me. Drydown adds some vanilla and mutes the other stuff. I really can’t hate this for $25, so maybe one day I will grab a full bottle. I’m between a “meh” and a “like” right now. 7.3/10
A Glass of Blended Scotch (Alberto Morillas, 2007) Scentrack: Jamiroquai - Everyday For some reason, I did not see the hidden beauty of this composition. To my nose, Ambre was a banal and weak composition of the German fashion house Baldessarini. Until one day I finally saw (smelt) the idea behind. Apparently Master Morillas took a glass of Johnnie Walker Black and recreated the fruity and peaty smell of the blend. Ambre possesses all the dram qualities – light fruitiness, peated body and light sweetness. It opens with apple and very soft mandarin orange, but soon the composition is overwhelmed by light leather and whisky nuances. It further develops with amber and soft oak and vanilla that mimic a whisky cask. Amber is warm and soft, introverted, yet masculine. It is a pleasure to wear Ambre. However, I would like Ambre to be a little bit stronger and outspoken. Ambre Intense? Ambre is romantic like Riga during fall. Rich and introverted. Warm like a piece of Baltic amber or a sip of whisky on a cold Daugava wind. Scentimentalwords
If you like olives with your whiskey this might just be the scent for you. I ain't diggin neither so for me it smells ghastly but i can imagine people liking it. It has a unisex vibe too, like "lonley depressed middle manager in a cheap suit sitting alone in a bar sipping whiskey with olives trying to drink his problems away" sort of vibe. That sounds unisex to me, also kinda repulsive.
Nice, fruity & musky aftershave from Baldessarini, still available and quite cheap. It's practically identical to Dunhill Pursuit, but a little less manly.
It's like fruity shampoo for the first hour, this type of scent is more for a sexy woman with wet hair. Has nothing to do with Boss Bottled or Boss The Scent, the apple in this is more like apple mixed together with a bit of random fruits, and it is not like maninka either. Later it gets better, not so sweet, more boozy with more tobacco, but very weak. 7/10
Actually a nice and cheap scent. However, I don't like whiskey or rum notes in fragrances. The apple is very present. Anyone who loves apples should try the perfume.
Just love this perfume. My husband wears this and I am surprised to see in the other comments that it doesn't perform well. From my point of view, it projects really well and it lasts forever on my husband. And it doesn't smell like a bar, actually, I was surprised to see it has a whiskey note in it - and we don't drink or smoke ;)
This one is different, but not in a good way - it smells like a bar where people are smoking and drinking. Therefore it's a good scent for people who drink or smoke. Imagine that old guy in the ad going home and the wife asked, "Have you been out drinking again?" He replied, "No, it's my perfume - smell it." Wife smells his neck then hug him, the old guy look at the camera and wink. That should be the TV ad, Ambre is a functional tool for dealing with concerned wife. It smells artificial like all Baldessarini/Boss fragrances, but at least this one has a purpose.
One of the few fragrances that actually contains all the notes listed. Opens up wide and warm with the top notes but also the base notes. As it enters the mid the leather comes out very nicely and the fragrance seems to become cooling. There isn't much of a dry down as the fragrance fades pretty quickly after 3 hours. Mostly it's just a very textbook dry down, everything else disappears except for the base notes. The poor performance could easily be remedied by over spraying and putting a couple sprays on your clothes. I tried it in high heat and it was not stuffy nor was it cloying at all. There're a lot of great leather fragrances out there that perform better yet are way more expensive. This has a lot of cool character and it's blended really well. The notes all get a chance to shine so this is put together really well. The only thing objectively wrong with this is the poor longevity of projection. Otherwise this is an exemplary frag. Unisex for sure. I'd say wear in Spring, Summer or Fall, not sure if it can cut through Winter cold. Could be great any time of day. This ended up being one I really wanted to love but just couldn't ever get there. It was intriguing but not interesting. It's kind of fresh but then it has that leather note so it's nice but just not something that I'm compelled to wear without making it a conscious decision.
This is a nice hidden gem. Its a mix between Boss bottled & Boss Orange with the fruity/woody accord. This is a nice fruity/ambry fragrance with a leather undertone. I payed 30euro for 90ml, what a steal for the price. Great quality for the price.
If you like this but want better performance, try Hero EDP by Burberry. Samples available now. I tried it and I am pretty sure Burberry just ressurected this and slapped a new name on it, making it a bit stronger.
This has been in my collection for years and I have gone through two bottles with another one tucked away in storage ready for when i need it. I really think Baldessarini should bring out Ambre in a Eau De Parfum concentration, or Parfum! How amazing would that be!!! Baldessarini.. if you're listening 🙏
Opens with amber and red apple scent 90% the way Costume ( Dunhill ) does. Far better version of Costume. Dry down is a pleasant mixture of amber, leathery notes. 4/5 Age:+25 Formal Moderate lasting and projection. Autumn cool nights .
Does anybody know if this was reformulated when Maurer&Wirtz aqcuired the rights for Baldessarini fragrances from P&G? DM me :)
Had this.. fall or winter scent. Lasts long but doesn't project much. Slight similarities to Hugo boss bottled but not an alternative. If you're a fan of Apple based scents like Ferrari Black then should upgrade to this as it's more nuanced.
Great scent perfect for fall & winter! Even Dunhill Custom has lots of similarities with ambré! Overall it's a great scent♥️
This was a blind buy for me around 2010. I paid £20 for the gift set that included aftershave balm in TK Maxx (TJ Maxx in US). It starts off with woody apple notes very similar to Boss Bottled (1998). The Whisky note is interesting, it's sort of a sweet almost caramel smell, but also slightly woody. It's got a big powdery amber which reminds me of the cloying nature of Prada Amber pour Homme (2006), but without the floral soapy notes. Baldessarini Ambre reminds me of Boss The Scent (2015) more than anything which also features a synthetic leather note. The Scent could almost be a flanker to this in terms of style. For £20 I thought it was excellent value, but this is a like not a love and I haven't repurchased a bottle since. Had it been three times the price I would still be OK with it. Scores a worthy 7 out of 10.
Baldessarini Ambré turns quickly into a skin scent. But, trust me, it's better this way. A red-fruity amber, borderline powdery, but there's a rough leather accord throughout the evolution that would not be easy to bear was this perfume more potent. If Layton was a good perfume, it would smell like this (just kidding). (no, seriously). Very, very good! 9/10
Sprayed this one the back of my hand about an hour ago and I have to say performance is not great. Scent wise it's a mixed bag , I like parts of it but it's obviously a more mature - classic somewhat outdated, especially in the opening. Once the fuzziness passes it starts to get a lot better. Like I've said one hour later it becomes more mass pleasing and quite a bit spicier. Edit: I was quite a bit harsh on the performance. It's actually great. Definitely above average. And the scent grew a lot on me even in the opening. Wore this a lot these last few days as it's the perfect time/temp to do so.
Lovely scent but about 30% as strong or long lasting as it used to be. Smells like an oak aged whiskey, with a soft ambery fruitiness throughout. (Smells a lot better than it sounds at least to me) Good if you only need it to last an hour or so, with practically no projection. Wish I'd stocked up a few years ago before they weakened it, as I'd happily pay double for it. I still have a bottle as I found a 90ml for £24 so I can still use it at home. Summary: Great boozy amber scent but very weak! Skin scent after 5 mins. Edit: Realised I've already done a review of this. Still applies. As someone else said "Beautiful but heartbreaking"
