The opening hits pretty hard with tea and fig, and that stays quite noticeable for the first 15 minutes or so. After that it starts to calm down, getting sweeter while still keeping that woody feel. Around 40 minutes in, I get a soft vanilla sweetness mixed with warm woods. It makes me think of sitting under a blanket in a wooden cabin, reading a book, with something warm and slightly sweet in the air. Really cozy, warm and comforting.
This is one of my current favorites. Despite I recommmend it for winter right now I use it as a layering perfume daily to increase the dirtiness of any perfume I use. When worn individually tea note with the cardamom creates a spicy chai like sensation not overpowering but more so feels like a cozy knitted cardigan on a rainy day. I find it as slight bit more towards the feminine side of the unisex scale. But I think this scent is not safe for blind buy as it develops differently on different people
I’ve got a sample and this perfume off the bat is quite dark, warm, dense, sweet spicy fig milk with a powdery undertone. It actually is very unisex, if not tiny bit more feminine to my nose. Great for colder days. It smells good up close, but ever so slightly dirty powdery when going through the air if you walk past somebody.
ts really good, love it
Smells like a bath and body works men’s body spray. Not good
A big no from me. It has a very culinary scent, combined with a sweet, feminine undertone—what a strange combination. I honestly don't understand the hype around this fragrance. It feels like another example of social media and paid influencers creating unrealistic expectations.
I’ve been sampling this for a little bit now…this thing lasts forever!!! I sprayed a test strip last night and 24 hours later the strip is still oily like I just sprayed it!! No issues with longevity…however … projection is another issue. Because it’s so thick and flat it doesn’t push off at all for me…I have to dig my nose into my skin or the strip in order to smell it…but when I do it’s gorgeous! Dry down is great too…but I’m just trying to figure out the use for this for me. This will probably be a cuddle up scent for me and the wife in fall winter…I’m going to run through my 10ml decant then make a final decision but currently I’m torn…I’ll have to give it more time.
The tea note is far too bitter and sours the composition of this fragrance. What is intending to be a cozy wintertime scent becomes sour woody vanilla. Sample first.
Gris Charnel Extrait by BDK Parfums is a richer take on the original creation of Gris Charnel from the Perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui. A sophisticated yet cozy and elegant fragrance that showcases a beautiful iris heart surrounded by top notes of tea and fig as well as complimentary base of tonka and sandalwood. The performance of this fragrance on my skin is exceptional. This fragrance is truly wonderful and one of the best iris fragrances that I have got my nose on.
Good quality of fig note, bourbon, vanilla.Nice warm, intimate notes, perfect for winter, spring, fall. I recommend it for date night 💯. Q
A dark and masculine tea opening with a vanilla-cinnamon chai-esque drydown. It may just be a skin thing, but after over 30 hours later and washing my hands a multitude of times, im still getting traces of it on my skin. The sillage is nothing special, but thats never really been part of my personal criteria. This fragrance is simply sensational.
So sexy omg mmmmmmm I wanna drink it with a straw
Very dark roasted Cardamom, bitter smell, not what I expected Reminds me a LOT of Tom Ford Noir Extreme, but this one carries a bit more performance, not alot though. Nice pressurized atomizer
Dark and sweet, with plenty of Tonka/vanilla. The fig and tea come off as laced with alcohol, adding to the sweetness, but it's their blending with deep dark woody aspects that give a distinct personality to this fragrance. It could end up being too heavy and masculine-leaning for some. A very enjoyable, finely made winter scent. 7/10
A friend visited my place last night and we went on a perfume carousell; testing and talking about each of my perfumes. When it comes to this one, she stood up and exclaimed my name. She told me that it smells exactly like her dad's Mercedes growing up. It was very specific: Bee Gees playing in the car, early morning dropping her brother to the school, and the leathery interior. We hugged and she was all teary eyed from this memory. It was so beautiful how this turns out to be very sentimental for her.
I love this perfume. It smells very addictive. For me it's a unisex scent, but it leans more towards men. The performance is very good for BDK parfums.
Unbeatable; totally unisex, unique & comforting be it summers or winters, for me its love. 🥰
This fragrance is absolutely beautiful. It gives off a dark vibe and leans more masculine compared to the EDP which smells perfectly unisex. If you’re looking for the fig note, I would say the EDP does that slightly better as this leans more woody spicy, but for me I enjoy the more masculine vibe as I find it difficult to wear more unisex leaning fragrances and enjoy the more classic masculine ones
The extrait is more earthy and “dirty”than the edp. I like the edp more because it’s a little more simple, cleaner, and smoother to my nose. Almost blind bought this, glad I didn’t.
Perfectly unisex. Smells like the best black tea you've ever smelled, with a hint of spice and woods in the background. Perfect for rainy, cloudy, and/or slightly cool weather. The vibe is vintage bookstore/cafe. Beautiful composition.
Gris Charnel extrait at a store that has most of the Niche fragrances. This BDK stood out once I actually sprayed it on my skin the scent came alive. The opening, I really enjoyed the Fig and Black Tea notes. This fragrance stayed on my skin for 12 hours. Gris Charnel extract is a scent I feel is best when dressed to impress. The tonka bean and vanilla dry down forced me to keep smelling my wrist. I’m simply blown away by this scent. This is second favorite BDK, second to Rouge Smoking Extrait.
This felt like a niche perfume. Little jammy fig, little tea on a bed of sandalwood and iris. The sandalwood and iris come a bit later. Everyone states that this feels like a gloomy sky- about to rain- type of perfume, but i didnt get the vibe from this. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Strictly cold weather, but you can get away with applying this on spring nights. 8/10
Good compliment getter, interestingly called fresh by too much people around me but i assume it powdery almond just like PDM Pegasus :)
I love Gris Charnel OG and it is my signature scent. So i do love this extrait as well. Beautiful sandalwood with fig and tea. But between the two, i prefer OG. This extrait has more spicy/more muscline undertone, which is in my view not needed from the oroginal dry down beauty.
The opening is so strong it almost killed me. I felt like I was gonna sneeze all the time, too spicy. Both tried the edp and extrait versions on my wrists and liked edp more. And I dont know how but edp one smelt longer. Dont judge me but kinda no for this scent maybe if you are a masculine guy then yes.
If the idea of Lesbian Christian Grey entices you and you wanna smell like that, then this scent is for you
It opens with a bold hit of fig—almost overpowering at first. The cardamom is just as prominent, while a soft tea note lingers quietly in the background. As it settles, the fragrance smooths out into something far more comforting and refined, with a mature warmth driven by a subtle floral spice. In the drydown, patchouli becomes more noticeable, supported by a light touch of cedar. The fig and cardamom never fully disappear, but they integrate better over time, creating a more balanced composition. This one gets a lot of hype as an all-time great. While I do think it’s a very good fragrance, I wouldn’t quite put it in that elite tier. That said, it earns extra points for its solid performance, sitting on the higher end of moderate. Overall, I’d rate it an 8.5 out of 10.
[05.10] Blind bought because of the notes, and the hype from fragrance content creators whom I believe have similar taste with me. In theory, this fragrance would be perfect for me. And I do like most aspects of it, except for the fig – or one of its supposed highlights. I totally get why others like this though, but for me the opening especially comes off as too earthy and somewhat stale milky-vom*ty(???). Maybe I'll try this again in the far future.
Do not really like Fig but tried in Dubai airport then got Liam instead as I could not justify price. Later started to really enjoy the DNA and decided to get full bottle. I really hated the fig Dipityque one and others I tried so no idea why this one is so good. Reminds me of La Nuit with higher quality and added depth, can be used for the same purposes just expect more projection longevity and complexity.
