Vanille Leather

It excites me when vanilla is forced to mix with non-gourmandy raw materials. Here, she has to mingle with a bunch of white flowers, resins, and woods. I've been exploring a lot of different vanilla dominant perfumes that are not in the gourmand category. There is a soft suede leather accord that is constant. Be prepared for a very powdery vanilla as the orris in the base is unyielding. The late dry down (as a reviewer later in this thread points out) does move into a salted caramel direction. I was thinking caramel-coated popcorn. So it inevitably does get somewhat gourmandy towards the end.

I'm genuinely surprised that this hasnt been rated as a more "summer" leaning scent. I get it; vanilla, leather, patchouli, orris, etc. All very cold weather. But the white florals in this are so forward-projecting that it reminds me of a really lavish and luxurious resort in south east asia or something. This smells like the most wealthy and beautiful woman's sunscreen; a woman that absolutely has no intention of going anywhere she can't wear her Aquazzura's to. This is a really exquisite profile and I'm genuinely so glad it doesn't go down the route of generic vanilla and leather. It's more "tropical deco" cosy, with cuban mahogony and greenery, than your traditional american "log fire and marshmallow" cosy. I have a feeling my nose might change on this as time goes on, because I think my brain is fixating on the white florals too much, but we'll see.

I love the initial scent. Dry down after many hours is indeed very mature - making me question whether to wait a decade or two with this one :)

This is one of those rare scents where you feel like you’re smelling art. It’s really unique. It’s complex. I don’t smell almost any vanilla though. I just smell buttery orris and leather, carried by something very velvety and floral.

You immediately catch vanilla, followed by a developing leather note. It feels like a reversed version of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille with added leather. Scent-wise, the notes unfold in the opposite order compared to Tom Ford. Just as you start wondering if it’s a sweet fragrance, the leather kicks in. A few minutes later, jasmine and vanilla balance things out, though the leather note continues to linger in the background.

This smells like the leather interior of a new car, mixed with an Iris lipstick and bourbon vanilla. Opening is a bit harsh with the leather, but as it sits, it gets sweeter with more Iris coming through. Sillage is moderate with good longevity.

The initial opening is a powdery Violet with some spicy undertones. 15 Min - I am still getting the powdery Violet scent with a very light spice, but I am also starting to pick up some sweeter white florals. 30 Min - The white floral notes has definitely moved to the forefront of the scent profile and are supported by a blend of Vanilla and Leather that make the fragrance very elegant and seductive. 60 Min - The sweetness has settled down some and I am getting more of a powdery and earthy Leather scent with some Gourmand undertones. Dry Down - The dry down of this fragrance s a subtle sweet Vanilla with a lovely soft Leather that projects class and seduction. This would be a beautiful date night scent. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Good with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2.5 feet for almost 3 hours. The sillage is also Good with a scent trail of over 3+ feet for over 2+ hours. Longevity is Great with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 8 to 9 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 4 hours. My rating for this fragrance is a 9.5 out of 10.

I'm surprised no one is comparing this one to Celeste by Giardini di Toscana. It has the same candied violet dominant note, except Celeste goes in a more floral direction and this is more vanilla / powdery since it has more iris. Both are lovely but this is definitely more unisex. Suede accord is definitely there but it's more of a dry vanilla sugar coated violet candy. Really like it. Gonna be wearing my travel size a lot these days.

I saw someone here saying it reminds them of Dama Bianca. I don’t think so, but I can see why they’d make that comparison. It’s a very vanilla, powdery, mature, and refined fragrance and I’d probably describe Dama Bianca in a very similar way. However, the leather note here makes it feel more grounded while still keeping that sophisticated character. 08/10 ✨

I just got Vanille Leather and thought, “this reminds me of a winter Swiss Arabian Musk 07.” Then it hit me, they’re the same perfumer. Both are gorgeous!! But, the brighter summer floral musk (Musk 07) is a quarter of the cost of the deep winter floral musk (Vanille Leather), although it says there’s no musk. If you love one, you’ll love the other!

very similar to dama bianca to me. the same powdery, violet, vanilla DNA with the soft feminine-leaning sweetness and orris. just like dama biaca i think it’s great, but doesn’t suit my taste. i do appreciate how the vanilla isn’t cloyingly sweet or overwhelming

smells like zayed airport in abu dhabi... i have been to that airport once in my life, for a connection. the moment i smelled this i remembered waiting at the gate for my flight to seoul with a bunch of other exchange students. we all knew we were going to the same place for the same reason, and yet none of us spoke to each other. still the best airport i've ever been in. i love this. very elegant, not extremely sweet vanilla. i don't smell the leather at all, but my guess is that wearing leather while wearing this would be very hot. contemplating buying a full bottle.

this is a complex composition of non gourmand vanilla, you get it all first its powdery musky and creamy. It drys down to a sweet vanillin leather cozy sent.

I get a lot of vanilla, but not sickly sweet or overly gourmand. The leather is fairly soft, agree with other reviewers who have compared it to suede. The pink pepper makes it pop, just enough to make it that much more interesting. Overall, very elegant unisex fragrance. I love it!

Insolence with leather. I can barely smell the vanilla🤷🏼♀️ But i love Insolence and the combo violet and leather is very interesting. I was expecting it to be creamy but it has a more earthy almost dusty and at the same time airy feel to it that i love. It feels almost vintage in a way and very intoxicating.

it smells like the name, sweet vanilla-y leather. i dont get the white florals that much, and the leather isnt over powering at all, i usually dont like leather but love this. If you like leather-heavy fragrances this isnt it. its a very feminine fragrance. Longevity is there as well. Its a soft scent that is noticable but doesnt really scream. Reminds me of a rich business woman in her 30s.

I just know some people absolutely adore this. this is a magnificent fragrance, but not for me. when i first sprayed it, it was a 10/10 smell. almost bought it the same day. but on the dry down with my skin, the mix of the florals give a play dough kind of smell, and it was off-putting. also, the leather note kind of disappeared and the vanilla was really toned down. it just turned into an iris + white florals fragrance that has a little bit of a playdough vibe. so unfortunate for me. if it stayed like the opening? yes. it would be my top 3 probably of all time.

I can't understand why this is receiving a unisex rating when it is so incredibly feminine! It is a STRONG powerful vanilla with white leather accord, the overwhelming powdery dry down means that after a few hours it gives me an ick. It is also a beast frag and you'll smell this on your clothes for days after. I wish it didn't have the powdery dry down because otherwise it would be such a stunning and rich vanilla! But it's just too mature after a few hours :( that said, on a VERY COLD wintery day it's still lovely and the opening is kind of worth the dry down haha but only on a super bleak day.

8.4/10 Powdery chocolate with vanilla and leather. Very basic, very strong, a bit more feminine that I thought it would be. From far away it really smells like milk chocolate to me.

I think this is such a beautiful perfume. Unisex but leans feminine in my opinion. I am not a fan of leather notes, but this leather note is just barely there. I smell the violet for sure and the orange blossom and orris. It is smooth, soft, and slightly powdery. The vanilla adds a little sweetness but not much. Also, it lasts longer than my other BDK fragrances and stays on clothing for at least 2 days. I have this on my wishlist for this next fall.
