Perfume Journey Winding Down & Coming Full Circle : THIS was the perfume that go me into fragrances in 2013. Even though I never purchased a bottle until a few weeks ago. I got the notion to "smell like the beach" and after I was in SHOCK that this cost $70.00 for a full size back then- I went down the beach-smell rabbit hole- that took a big detour into T.J. Maxx / Marshalls "mediocre blind buys" - costing me HUNDREDS - if not a thousand- dollars over the years. My first "big purchase" was Lily Pulitzers beach fragrance (now discontinued). I then OBSESSED over the brand I Hate Perfumes even though there was NO WAY in hell I could afford any of his stuff! Back to NOW: So here I am with my newly purchased Bobbi Brown Beach - a VERY simple classic Coppertone scent . It's my "farewell" gift to myself because with inflation and my budget and my LARGE collection of over 200 fragrances (older, newer , vintages , etc) I am on a "NO BUY" unless I can nab some vintages at my weekly flea market run - for under $10.00 or less (which I have been doing all the while). So goodbye for now , friends. It's been fun. Keep in touch and have a nice summer - don't change - stay the way you are (as they used to say in all the high school year books). Grade : B . I wish Bobbi Brown Beach lasted a bit longer than it actually does.

I haven’t smelled Beach for years, at least 13; I think Bobbi Brown was acquire by Estee Lauder within that time and heard there was a formula change and I fear they were right. How disappointing! New beach is screechy and much more floral; heavy on the jasmine. Old Beach was almost strictly copper-tone. It’s not bad but I miss the old formula and regret not buying a bottle for myself but did give one as a gift!

This smells exactly like US sunscreen that uses the (now outdated for most of the world) ingredient Octisalate (ethylhexyl salicylate). Octisalate creates that characteristic American sunscreen stink that’s kind of a sharp wintergreen plus oily synthetic floral. This smells exactly like that, unfortunate for me.

Анонім

Horrible. Loud flowers. I would hate going to the beach if this is what it smelled like.

Анонім

It smells like aerosol spray sunscreen. Not a boujee brand like Sun Bum or Vacation, but that Coppertone shit that gives marine life cancer.

Анонім

I sprayed this on in public one day & then heard someone complaining about the smell of sunscreen. I’m actually obsessed with the smell of the beach & sunscreen I couldn’t get enough of so it made me smile. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I need another bottle already!

To me, this smells like jasmine and myrrh. Nothing else. It low key smells like an orthodox church. Definitely not a vibe. I heard that it smells like vintage sunscreen, but to me it doesn’t smell like the beach AT ALL. If like me, you were a child in the 90s or onwards, you won’t recognise this as a beach scent. If you ‘re looking for a beach scent and money is not an issue, I 100% recommend Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc.

I blind bought this hoping for it to smell like sunscreen and (as the name indicates) the beach, but sadly it didn't read that way to me. It was more of a breezy light citrus-y vibe. It was a nice enough scent for me to finish the bottle (i couldn't return it anyway) but it wasn't what i was hoping for and i regretted buying it. Beach Walk by Margiela (i later found out) is a lot nicer and closer to the beach scent i was looking for

This is hands down the most realistic smelling sunscreen perfume I've ever smelled. I love the chemical smell of sunscreen, and this hits you so hard with it in the top notes, it's unbelievable. Then, it tones down a bit to a lived-in beachy, coconutty sunscreen. Yes, you could just wear sunscreen, but if you're just chilling inside and you have a hankering to huff sunscreen without having to put it on, definitely get this perfume! It also just smells fabulous when you layer it with other summery/beachy scents. I do wish the longevity was better for the price, but overall I love it.

I think this is the Holy Grail of Beachy fragrances. It smells exactly like the beach, with a marine layer, suntan lotion and soft floral breezy notes lingering in the distance. It is not complicated by coconut, which is why I love it so much.Coconut overtakes any fragrance it’s mixed with and I find a lot of beachy scents have coconut but not this one! This scent is very nostalgic poolside, summer and a walk on the beach.

Анонім

straight up chemical sunscreen. addictive and a love at first sniff. THIS is the true sunscreen perfume

Анонім

Yes it smells exactly like sunscreen and yes I love it. Not for everyone but surprisingly versatile if you do like it/own it. Probably the fragrance I have repurchased most over the years. Super nostalgic for me.

Анонім

Straight spray sunscreen. But in the best way. My mom wore this when I was little and it’s so nostalgic to me.

Анонім

okay so i am obsessed with this fragrance. it's like smelling someone's skin right after they've peeled off their bathing suit after a long day at the beach, but before they've showered. sunscreen and saltwater mixed with sweat. hot sandy skin mixed with cool wet lycra. it is deeply evocative! and it low key makes me horny af. the initial suncreen note is so deliciously in your face. once that softens, it becomes less chemical and more aquatic and salty, but the sunscreen and lycra smell never disappears comepletely. the subtle jasmine on the drydown is perfection. i dont get any citrus at all really. the emotional journey as it develops is so wild. it goes from licking the sunscreen off your lover's sandy, sunkissed skin to evoking the faded nostalgia of old beach vacation photos. i honestly dont know if i could wear it everyday. i would be too distracted by constantly smelling myself and being transported to my horny beach house memory palace. i wouldn't get anything done. UPDATE: i wear it everyday.

Like Sanborns Agua Flor de Naranja, this is very similar to the OG Coppertone sunscreen, which brings a smile. This is a little bit stronger than Sanborns, and has a little "something else", maybe the seawater note, but they're darn close and great.

Анонім

Maybe I got an old, off batch? But this was a scrubber for me. And I love aquatic, summer scents. It actually felt like it burned my nose.

Heliotrope317…I am a westsider so for me it was Huntington Beach rather than Mentor Headlands but your review is spot-on. A throwback to the days when we showered before heading out to the beach (in the ‘68 Camaro). Once there, we’d spread out the towels on the warm sand and run into the lake for the first swim of the day. Once out of the water, we’d slather on the Coppertone and bake in the sun for hours, running back into the waves whenever the sand got too hot. Finally, packing up and walking back to the car, the smell of Coppertone on the new beachgoers was thick in the air but on our sun-baked skin, it had mellowed, now a gentle memory of a carefree day in the sun.

Анонім

Beach by Bobbi Brown is pure genius. It's Coppertone Suntan Lotion and sunshine with waves crashing in Lake Erie Mentor Headlands for me. It's made to make one remember days past that were filled with picnics and the eight track blaring in the 68 Camaro. If you don't like suntan lotion, then don't buy it. It's pretty much a single note, but a fun one. Personally, in the dead of an Ohio winter blizzard I can spray Beach, close my eyes and regain hope that Spring will come again and soon after glorious Summer.

Анонім

Now THIS is what I call a beach perfume!!! No tropical fruity notes or random musky BS. Just pure warm sand and slightly salty notes of sea foam. It does remind me of a sunscreen, but not in a negative way. Summer in a bottle.

Анонім

My mom gave me her at least 2-year old bottle as she wasn't enjoying it. I was pleased that it still smells amazing. I have so much affection for this fragrance. It absolutely smells like sunscreen up front - not sweet and I love that it doesn't have coconut notes as some more sunscreeny/summery scents tend to have. The dry down on my skin is salty, jasmine, mineral and even a touch smoky, somehow. Truly like I've been lounging like a lizard in the sun, on a hot sandy beach all afternoon (maybe with my grandma smoking a few feet away LOL). Sometimes I layer it with some smokier scents I have from OLO (Dark Wave or Erastus) and I find it adds even more depth. Not for everyone I guess, but for me it's a happy and nostalgic scent.

Анонім

Yes. Coppertone on warm skin with a pool floaty. This is 100% a childhood scent memory. She’s a one trick pony for a hot summer day so won’t need much. Edit: while I love the smell of this it’s so strong I actually started using it as a room spray in my office. Anyone who comes in says it smells like a vacation. Happy win.

Beachy, refreshing, marine/aquatic, sandy/mineral, fresh, salty, white floral, citrusy, feminine, chic, uplifting, cheerful, transportive, nostalgic The perfect sun tan lotion only better fragrance… more chic and classy! Definitely gives off major beach vibes and a lovely nostalgic feeling! Conjures up feelings of the Sun warming my skin, my feet in the sand, and long walks along a beautiful white sand beach with my feet in the water, and a gentle ocean breeze blowing through my hair. If you’re looking for a beachy fragrance, but don’t overly enjoy coconut, then this one is definitely worth trying. It is the closest perfume that I’ve come across so far to what Sun tan lotion smells like, just not the coconut kind. I actually find it rather unique because most beachy scents incorporate a coconut note, or another kind of tropical fruit. As much as I love coconut scents I’ve still always really loved this one too. Instead of a tropical coconut scent giving this a beachy vibe, Beach gets its from notes like sand and sea water. Those add a really nice refreshing marine aquatic scent and mineral scent like you would get from the actual beach. I also catch soft whiffs of jasmine throughout, like it’s coming to me on a fresh ocean breeze. I do notice just a subtle mandarin orange scent, but it’s the least prominent to me. I very highly recommend this one if you love sun tan lotion like scents, or want a beachy scent that doesn’t have any coconut (or other tropical fruits). To me this feels feminine, and like it would easily suit women of any age. I enjoy wearing this the most during the late spring and throughout the summer, but I can see this being reached for during the colder months too, especially if you’re longing for a beach vacation, or warm weather. I think this works pretty well for most occasions besides something fancy. It comes off as versatile to me, so I can see it being worn at home, casual occasions, work/school, and even on date nights. I’ve been wearing this for about 10 years now, and it’s something that I always hope to have in my collection. I got the cutest gift set of it which included the 1.7oz perfume, shower gel, body scrub, and body lotion. I would absolutely love for them to bring that set back because I really love using the body care products with the perfume. I do get great performance with Beach, but it’s even better when I pair it with the matching body care. The longevity is really good, it lasts at least 6-7 hours on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out about 2-3 feet from me. Some of my other favorite beachy/coconut/Sun tan lotion scented fragrances include Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus, Kilian Sunkissed Goddess, Replica Beach Walk, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, Yves Rocher Monoi Eau des Vahines, JHAG Lust For Sun, JHAG Vanilla Vibes (another excellent beachy scent without any coconut), Kayali Maui in a Bottle, Kayali Maldives in a Bottle I just wanted to add that By Rosie Jane Maddie is extremely similar to Beach. Like almost identical imo. However, I do get better performance with Beach.

Perfect reproduction of Coppetone sunscreen. And no need to try others- this is the ultimate perfume to conjure up the image of warm sand, clean, dry towels, salt air, and sunny florals.

Анонім

This is literally the beach. Wet towels, warm sand, saltwater, suntan lotion. The jasmine is strong in the opening but with time it fades. It's pretty amazing that this was created so realistically. When I'm having beach withdrawals, I reach for this.

Анонім

This scent wears so nicely on my skin and I catch myself being memerized and thinking about it when I am not wearing it. When I intially blind bought it and sampled it, I thought, “huh, all those reviews are accurate.” I can see how it’s a bit divisive, but the sandy beachy scents and vibes make this heavy in my rotation. I forsee reaching for it even more in the warmer months. I also bought a back up bottle because I enjoy it that much.

Анонім

Tried Vacation last summer and loved it, but wasn't happy with the longevity of it so I tried Beach to find something similar with better staying power. This is a not complex scent. It's a sunscreen-centric scent that smells like a day on the beach. A bit synthetic, very nostalgic and I quite like it for what it is. I detect no florals, no fruit, no coconut. Poor longevity on skin, but fantastic on clothes (8+ hours).

Анонім

Smells like a rich lady's day by the beach. Think mid-to-upper-Atlantic private club on the shore: more WASPy less tropical. Beautiful sunblock smell with zero coconut. Will have people asking if someone put sunblock on. Minor sillage, moderate-to-poor longevity. Lasts alright on clothing. Love this one.

Анонім

it smells like spray sunscreen in the best way, it’s nostalgic reminding me of when i was a kid going to the lake and my parents would douse me in that stuff

Анонім

Thank goodness I got a sample of this one. I thought based upon reviews that this would be a winner. It was nothing like I expected. Too much white floral - I feel like I smell like an old lady. I tried layering it with Clean Solar Bloom to bring the beach vibe more to the front and it was all wrong.

Even though it's winter I couldn't resist the deal I got on a 1.7 oz bottle- $21! For that price I'm thrilled with it. Definitely nostalgic, I get a neroli smell for some reason but it's very pleasant not too heavy, and saltiness comes through very much on me as well. It fades after a few hours but that's okay for the price I got it for and I think applying more heavily and in hair could stretch it, so far I've only put directly on skin to test out. It's definitely a feminine marine scent when so many skew masculine to me.
