This wasn’t love at first smell. It was curiosity. Bought a decant to test it out. I sprayed it for the first time the other night and had an almost visceral reaction to it. I wanted it off my body as quickly as possible. I decided I wanted to give it another chance and sit with it so when I got out of the shower this morning, I tried it again. I spent the day trying to understand it, and somewhere along the way I realized the fragrance hadn’t changed nearly as much as I had. Whether or not I ever own it, it taught me that understanding a perfume can be just as enjoyable as falling in love with one.
Now this is a great example of two perfumes shared enough notes to be compared side by side while neither is a dupe for the other. I have BR540 and this one. Yes I can feel the similar profiles, key important notes in common. But still different enough to be two individual perfume with own personality. BR540 is bit more brighter,a bit more floral. Leaning towards more feminine. Tribeca is more goumand with hazelnuts and cacao, it leans more towards masculine. Both are like by me and my friends. they are great to buy as a pair for people who likes BR540 but wish it is more masculine. Here is one good choice.
One of my absolute favorites. This and Le Labo Another 13 are on constant rotation for me. Beautiful scent for the fall/winter, appropriate for daytime/work and evening. Nice projection. I get a lot of compliments on it. IMHO This is very similar to Baccarat Route 540. For more inexpensive options, Quince Oud Rouge or Salt + Stone Saffron & Cedar.
I wish I had the longevity and projection others are describing because this is just beautiful. I get the jasmine, hazelnut and cocoa and somehow these combined lends a feeling of coconut. I'm wearing this in June and it feels perfect for the warm weather but this would also be perfect on a cold day. I do not think I will purchase once my sample is gone though because it is very short lived on my skin. I also do not get the comparison to BR540.
It’s not a dupe of BR540 but more of a coconutty alternative to BR540. It smells like sweet and spicy chewy coconut and very faint chocolate but it projects very very well. It’s similar to Parle Moi Comete Paradis and Omnia Profumi Rame. Very nice.
Baccarat Rouge 540 + Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino = TriBeCa Bond No. 9.
It carries subtle hints of the BR540 DNA, yet it stands confidently on its own. The scent unfolds into an enveloping blend of nutty cocoa, like powdery dark chocolate with a delicate touch of sweetness. I was unsure at first, but it’s steadily growing on me
TriBeCa is warm, delicious, and gooey. It smells a bit like Salted Caramel Kahlúa, but with something woody, earthy, and musky underneath. I get whiffs of spice and leather, followed by an almost sticky sweetness from the ambroxan. This is a properly gourmand scent but with an almost abstract, airy quality I really enjoy. I can smell a (very slight) Greenwich Village resemblance. TriBeCa is the older, more mature sister, jaded and sultry. Greenwich Village is fruitier, lighter, and doesn't last nearly as long.
Tribeca starts with a strong urin and feces smell. It’s like you are travelling by bus, and the bus is full, and you all stop at a gas station to go to the toilette, and toilette is not cleaned for days. That is what I got when this perfume touched my skin. I would think that i am crazy, but i experienced similar with Fan your flames by Nishane. I had to scrub Tribeca off immediately. How can you create a perfume that smells like urine and feces??? I’m so mad. Also these fragrances cost a fortune, shame on you.
The first few minutes smell quite similar to BR540, but it develops differently after that. I generally do not get on with Bond No 9, but I find TriBeCa to be very, very nice. The dusting of cacao is wonderfully appealing. Really pretty perfume and not entirely obnoxious bottle design as most Bond No 9 are.
On my skin this is caramel adjacent amber, woods and jasmine. Buttery, like a salted caramel. Not a lot of jasmine on me. And when I do detect it, it feels like an interruption. There is a coldness present that keeps Tribeca from being truly warm and inviting. But it is fun and youthful. It's a little like baccarat rouge, yes. But with a nutty chocolate/nutella note. Tribeca is less timeless and ageless than BR540. It feels like the rebellious but girly daughter of that fragrance. Unfortunately, there is a sour urinal cake/public bathroom aspect that is also present. It feels like a trick of the nose, but I can see how depending on your skin chemistry, it might pop up more prevalent than others. It's almost like a fruit note. Weird. By the end of the day, it smells closer to BR540. I would categorize this as a pseudo-gourmand.
If you took 85% the ethyl maltol out of BR540 and replaced it with a hazelnut accord then ran fast past some cacao powder and finished up with a squish more jasmine you’d get this. I’m digging it because it’s so much less sweet. It’s still an ambroxan bomb, staticky and buzzing, but I find it quieter and more wearable than the perfume that obviously inspired it. It feels fun, definitely not elegant, kind of clumsy, but likeable. Thankfully I’m not getting a pissy note. It’s a solid like and I’ll use it up but probably won’t re-purchase.
this could be yummy but i just can't get past the smell of piss i'm sorry
I got a free sample when I recently made a different perfume purchase at Neiman and I like it. I do see what people are saying about it having a urine-like opening, but it quickly goes away and does become somewhat like BR450. That being said, the price is absolutely outrageous. It is a nice fragrance, but in no way worth the cost.
If Angel Muse and Patchouli Nosey Be had a lovechild, this would be it. Masterpiece. My skin eats sweetness, so amber is always a gamble as it pushes forward on me and takes over when unstructured. However, this beautiful fragrance opens with unsweetened cocoa and hazelnut, on a resinous mossy backbone. The sweet jasmine gives it structure and I can already tell that a woodsy caramel will the lingering base. It's excellent. Safe blind buy if you like the scents noted above.
Tribeca comes off bright, youthful, and very energetic, like a perfume a teenager might choose for a fun night out rather than a sophisticated evening event. It opens sweet and fruity, with juicy, high-impact top notes that feel playful and attention-grabbing. Instead of subtle elegance or refined structure, the scent projects loud and immediate, resembling the kind of vibrant, sugary fragrances popular with younger crowds. There’s a sense of pop-party energy , sparkling and bold, that can feel more like clubbing or social fun than calm confidence. It doesn’t unfold with complex depth; instead it stays bright, busy, and enthusiastic, which is exactly why it can read as a “teen night out” fragrance rather than something mature or understated.
Imagine a scent that opens like the first sip of an expertly crafted cocktail bright, crisp, with a hint of intrigue. Bond No. 9 One reveals itself with luminous top notes of citrus zest and fresh spices, invigorating the senses and awakening a restless curiosity. As the fragrance unfurls, a warm heart of amber, musk, and subtle floral nuances emerges, wrapping you in a seductive embrace that’s both comforting and exhilarating. There’s a certain sophistication to the way One balances its boldness with elegance an interplay of notes that feels like a perfectly sharp yet inviting. The scent is undeniably addictive, with a velvety richness that grows more alluring with each passing moment. It's as though the perfume whispers secrets of city nights and whispered promises, lingering on the skin like a favorite memory. The drydown reveals a gentle, sensual basesoft woods and a whisper of vanilla creating an intoxicating trail that beckons admirers closer and leaves a lasting impression. Bond No. 9 One isn’t just a fragrance it’s an olfactory journey through the vibrant, pulsating heart of the city itself impossible to resist, utterly unforgettable, and entirely addictive.
Lately, I’ve been trying Tribeca, and it’s been a really pleasant surprise. Like almost all of my perfumes, it was another blind buy. The opening is quite strong, with jasmine and ambroxan taking center stage, and it can feel a bit overwhelming at first. However, as it dries down, a slightly sweet and earthy note begins to appear, giving the fragrance a very sexy, cosmopolitan vibe. It’s a very versatile perfume, with good longevity and a sillage that attracts compliments without being too much. I personally find it unisex, though it leans more feminine to my nose. I didn’t love it on the first spray, but it develops beautifully as it dries down, which completely won me over. I’ll definitely keep repurchasing it.
This is a fragrance in the same style as BR540 but at the same time it doesn’t smell at all like it due to the notes. This is a darker version. The similarities are due to that unmistakable oak moss lending that dry fluffy mossy feeling and incredible waft in the air when combined with the ambroxan which makes that intense scent trail. The woodiness is there. But the caramel and the chocolate add a very toasted dark cocoa powder note. There isn’t that much caramel to my nose. It’s like the diet version cocoa powder and caramel. This isn’t very sweet to me with is surprising. The hazelnut is there mixing with that dry wood but it’s a bit likely they mixed those cozy chocolate, nutty, dark notes with no sugar. Like mixing a pure cocoa powder and sugarless roasted hazelnuts into a cake with no sugar or anything fatty either. Dry ingredients. The strongest notes in this are the WOOD, oak moss, and ambroxan. If you’re expecting a gourmand I’d look elsewhere.
A chocolatey Baccarat. Creamy, woody, beautiful & absolutely addictive.
Its growing on me. caramel, woody, little bit of hazelnut. i have both br540 extrait and tribeca, they dont smell similar except for the amber and wood. br540 is way better and projects more. this lasts 16+ hours but gets very faint after the first couple hours even with the vaseline method. not worth it tbh just get br540. this is just something to add to ur collection. nyc bond has way better frags to buy. 7.5/10 Really good layering frag goes best with lafayette street for me
Reminds of Baccarat Rouge, but stronger
Everyone compares it to BR540, but it most similar to Cloud 2.0. I compared all three, they're all in the same category, but the one that comes closest to TriBeca is Cloud 2.0. TriBeca is not linear at all. It has three stages. It opens with notes of ambroxan and jasmine. White flowers are predominant at the opening. They are delicate and dewy, it complement the fragrance well. Then, it changes to be similar to BR540/Cloud 2.0, airy perfume with more ambroxan, and the white flower notes soften. Finally, it finishes creamy, lactonic, sweet, and airy. In the third phase, you definitely smell the cocoa and hazelnut, gorgeous. I much prefer it to BR540, wich I'm not the biggest fan. I find it more complex and better balanced.
I own this fragrance and adore it. It has a baby doll head aroma from the 80s that I cannot get enough of and at the same time a sweet sexy yummy scent.
This is a hard pass for me. The ambroxan is overwhelming and creates a sickly, medicinal smell, like cough syrup poured into boiling rice. It triggered nausea and headaches every time I wore it. The hazelnut and cacao notes barely register under the synthetic musk. If you’re sensitive to ambroxan, stay far away. 3/10
Yes , opening is BR540… but as a cousin- not as its sister. Still testing, keep you posted Im totally onboard with reviewer @issamood : jasmine tea with milk and honey. Yes, amazing jasmine tea , big love! But I still have to admit that Tribeca (very much so) leans on the BR540 DNA. Anyone who disagrees just wants to cancel and ghost BR540 because of its reputation, which is a shame if you ask me. It’s a love for me! Good longevity with a “acceptable” silage.
It reminds BR 540 so much. Baccarat is really not my style although I get why people like it. This one also has that woody grown up sweetness. They are similar in my opinion, the jasmine is not very strong. Personally not my cup of tea.
Jasmine tea with milk and honey, downwind of a chocolate shop. Obsessed!
I got this in the Bloomingdale’s advent calendar and after one spray started searching for a full bottle. I don’t think of BR 540. I get jasmine and cocoa butter but in an airy way. It is magical. I haven’t worn it outside but am curious if this is a compliment getter. It seems like it would be.
