Iris de Syracuse

One of my all time favourite perfumes. Powdery, delicate and airy, what I imagine a cloud smells like. If anyone has a bottle to sell in the UK or can ship to the UK please message me as I am desperate for a bottle 💙

A fluffy, sweet iris. Powdery in the opening drying down to dry and sweet notes. A shame this is discontinued.

Boucheron, from old French, derived from the word Butcher (or "bouchiere" in French) very aptly sliced and diced the fruits in the concoction of the listed notes here, true to its namesake. Very masterfully blending it into a soft yet tantalizing marriage that has an opening of soft baby oil and powdery tinctures. Super powdery and soft but nothing like youre usual makeup powder.

Soft iris, I d say patchouli keeps it fresh but you can’t even smell it, it is definitely not the main player, just keeps the composition fresh. Wonderful perfume for a someone who loves soft, lipstick scents. I think it is very light and sweet, innocent and super girly, does not get too powdery. Makes me think of a feather fluff.

Straightforward Iris.... Nice general take on Iris with a touch of pepper, patchouli, and musky jasmines. Nice.

Nice clean iris. Fresh and soft perfume. Doesn't give a makeup powder vibe, but it is clean and powdery. Not very sweet imo. Unisex, but I personally found it to suit my husband better than I (I prefer a sweeter iris). It's pretty understated and sits close to the skin. A fancy spa would smell like this.

It’s beautiful. It’s everything I expect from a Private Collection and from an Iris scent. It’s beautifully blended, giving this fragrance one smooth development. It has several facets, and is slightly elusive, like in any powdery floral scent, but also like, I imagine this was part of the brief, the light going through jewels. The beauty of jewels is in how the light reflects, and this has always been a core aspect of the Maison Boucheron. Too me, this fragrance represent the same elusive aspect of the light going through a gem, it’s there, not there, and you can’t pinpoint where it starts and how it begins and how it ends, but it’s there for a moment - not for ever. There is a similar beauty in this perfume, a beauty of the instant, something also deeply nostalgic and heart-touching. Perhaps it’s the scent of iris, that is so transitory, like the purple flowers, but there is something poignant but soft about this perfume and it makes it delicate. Projection: The general projection is quite reasonable, it stays close to the skin, but again I am not looking for something nuclear for an Iris scent. Other notes: I do get the pepper upon opening, and for me it’s an added bonus as I adore Pepper notes. Longevity: I spray in the evening before bed and the scent still lingers for days on my nightdresses and bedsheets. The longevity is remarkable.

It’s kinda giving elevated baby powder? In a good way? When I first sprayed it, I was disappointed. It almost smelled like bug spray but within seconds it settled into a powdery floral. I’m getting lots of pear, iris, heliotrope and musk. It’s not for me but it’s cute if you like powdery iris fragrances

Wearing this perfume will give you such an ethereal and comforting experience. Iris in here smells like pencil shavings and powder dust. Long lasting actually it stayed on my clothes for 2 days straight but intimate sillage. My favorite bed time scent or for those times when you're anxious & overwhelmed this will wrap you up in abgels wings sensation. Feminine leaning indeed.

"Iris de Syracuse" opens up with a strong black pepper note, which may feel somewhat confusing and liquorice-like because of mandarin orange wrapped around it. Pear is too green to hold its own, and only hints of it exist through slightly honeyed sweetness. Iris steps in pretty fast, powdered by heliotrope. They "push" the pepper off the stage and this is when composition starts becoming rather unique and interesting. Iris is a cool blue and heliotrope undertone does not make it warmer, but pepper does. And now that pepper is no longer domineering, the fragrance is quite beautiful and superbly original. Jasmine, like the pear, is not pronounced and is detectable by its indolic flashes of gold (it is more visible during the summer period, adding its own signature sweetness and taming the pepper furthermore). White musk is a solid base, well rounded by vanilla, creating a subtle and elegant background without interfering with the heart notes, adding some freshness, which makes "Iris de Syracuse" a year-round wearable perfume as well as a solid unisex. Despite its simplicity, the scent is unmistakably original and nothing else comes to mind that may compare anywhere close to its signature. Pepper accord creates a great twist on otherwise "old classic" of iris, heliotrope and musk, justifying its name as the Port of Syracuse was the at the cross roads of the West and Orient and was full of luxurious spices, colours and fabrics. "Iris de Syracuse" has a restrained projection and is great for both close encounters as well as going out. It lasts at least 6 - 8 hours on my skin, and its notes' transitions are most enjoyable to behold. To me, - it is a perfect niche classic - its very own character and twist, quiet luxury evoking the opulence and mysticism of the ancient history.

This is a lovely fragrance. I wear it when I go to bed. It is so soothing.

A sweet, powdery, clean, feminine scent that is not too overpowering. This smells like the color light purple to me. It is the scent of a happy, kind and empathetic woman. Very lovely! I think you might like this if you are into scents like Gurelain Insolence, Dama Bianca or Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 40. (Or in my case if you love Fleur de Peau but your friends and family said that smells like a grandma - this perfume is a sweeter, more modern scent profile for the powdery girls and guys). On skin it lasts only about 4 hours on me but when on clothes I could smell it faintly the next morning. I am thinking of getting a FB.

I sampled this, fell in love, bought a bottle. It's not easy to find and I was shocked at how affordable it is. This scent is well covered below so I can only add that it is one of 12 bottles on my shelf. A true gem.

The dominant note throughout the whole evolution on my skin is pear. A fresh, flavorful pear, yet with a pure and clear quality. The pear note is supported by an iris accord : dense, powdery, grey, with floral violet undertones. This powderiness adds texture, as to suggest the grainy texture of the pear, but softer. The drydown is even clearer, the powderiness dissipates, and all I have left is a the sweet pear. The fragrance feels soothingly neat to me, like crystal-clear water.

Gorgeous… for the whole 10-15 minutes you can actually smell it. I love the scent profile. This airy cloud of iris and vanilla that feels soft, elegant, and angelic. It’s a very light, whisper-soft perfum. Great if your workplace has strict rules, not so great if you actually want to smell your own perfume. I just wish it had more. More presence, more lasting power.

A very pretty fluffy, powdery musk. The love child of Musc Pallas and Sonic Flower!

One of the most beautiful iris fragrances on the market after Prada Infusion d'Iris. Soft, clean, slightly powdery and fresh. An easy wear and very office friendly.

Pretty, powdery, feminine. Iris that's soft and clean without being soapy or scratchy. I'd say it's slightly lotion-y. Unfortunately, it fades into a barely detectable skin scent after 5 minutes. I chronically overspray though, so take that into consideration. I'm actually thinking of getting a bottle anyway, because it really is lovely, and that would let me test it out more fairly than a 10ml decant allows. ------------ Update: I bought a full bottle (125ml) a month ago, right after I wrote this review. I'm already nearly halfway through it. It's an easy reach, but it is quite weak. That might make it perfect for many situations though! I think I will save the rest of my bottle for warmer weather.

One of the best Iris perfume ever made, so balanced not to powdery not to sweet or feminine… this should be No.1 along with dior homme as best Iris perfume … love it

I got this in a travel size as a 'gift with purchase' a few years ago and I have constantly changed my opinion on this. It's a WONDERFUL background scent (henceforth known as 'office-safe'), but it's also painfully basic. Sweet fruity citrus, dainty musk and inoffensive floral iris. I mean, I can't complain with this, it's MASTERFULLY mixed, blended and layered, but it's also incredibly safe -- there's no risk, no chance and no harshness. It's the equivalent of writing an essay with simple sentences. Structurally correct, grammatically and syntactically perfect, but lacking character, excitement and pizzazz. And that's why I pivot on this as much as I do -- there just isn't any element that stands out. I wish there was, because that's what I yearn for, especially with iris scents. This is just a smidge too pedestrian for me...

For all those who like Glossier You, Prada Infusion d’Iris, Chanel Comete or 1957, Salvatore Ferragamo Viola Essenziale, Room 1015 Sonic Flower, or Miller Harris Violet Ida, but you just couldn’t splurge the amount of money for the mediocre performance of these scents, rest assured that you have with Iris de Syracuse a worthy replacement for a phenomenal value in a luxurious packaging and bottle! I am not calling Iris de Syracuse a 1:1 dupe for any of the above mentioned scents, but this is a very close perfume to the all above. Could be worn interchangeably with any mentioned above and most people wouldn’t be able to distinguish between them in the air… There might be more similar perfumes out there, but that’s what’s coming to my mind instantly when I am sniffing Iris de Syracuse. I haven’t tested all iris dominant perfumes on the market, it’s not even my most favourite floral, but I am learning to like it in some compositions. Therefore, if you’re in the market for a gorgeous, soft, powdery, purple/white floral, with a hint of pepper and a creamy vanilla in the base, do yourself a favour and buy a bottle of Iris de Syracuse. It’s a lighter fragrance, but so are all the ones mentioned above, but this has good lingering power and is so cozy, calming, tranquil and soothing . Talking value for money, Iris de Syracuse is the clear number one recommendation from my perspective because it is cheaper than all of them. As much as I love Comete or 1957, I would never pay Chanel’s prices when there are brands like Boucheron who create the same juice for less than a third of Chanel’s price range!

This whole Boucheron line is perfection! I adore iris and powdery scents (not baby powder, but the vintage makeup type 🥰) and I love this perfume! I used the whole bottle with such a pleasure! And it was a love from the first spray. I didn’t test it even twice before to purchase it! If/when I feel like having an iris perfume again, I will look no further. It opens up nicely, gracefully and it dries down beautifully. It is a sophisticated scent, but can be worn by someone who is a young and free spirit, no elderly person vibes, at all! 😋 Nothing disturbing, unpleasant or needing a second thought, in my opinion! I am sure that there are other wonderful iris fragrances on the market, but I do not need to search for anything else, this one is a perfection to me ❤️🔥

Was at the met cloisters and walked past this beautiful very wealthy looking woman and she was 100% wearing this. Pretty in an unassuming, subtle way. White t-shirt scent for me.

The opening is fresh and soft, with pear, mandarin, and a touch of pepper. It’s creamy, powdery, and smooth, with jasmine and heliotrope adding a subtle floral nuance, but iris is definitely the star. It’s slightly sweet without any earthy or sharp edges, and the base settles into warm vanilla, patchouli, and white musk. Overall it’s a lovely, easy‑to‑wear scent, though it might feel a bit plain next to more characterful iris perfumes. For reference, this does not remind me of Sonic Flower, Glossier You, or Fleur de Peau—the same general category, perhaps, but not similar in profile. The iris here is distinctly creamy and powdery. It's a pretty safe blind buy if you love iris.

Very powdery, hint of vintage makeup, and skin like scent with beautiful soft iris 💜 reminds me strongly of (Glossier-You) and (Diptyque-Fleur de peau), if you have any of them, then you probably don’t need this perfume. As for longevity; it’s around 2-3 hours on the skin, but the sillage is not as strong, and you have to spray generously to have a good sillage. Overall I like it; very safe for blind purchase Very safe for work / daytime if you want something that is soft and feminine and non offensive 🪻

What a beautiful Iris. Very feminine, powdery, lovely. No jagged edges; no notes that throw me off. Such a nice scent.

I love this perfume! It’s a soft, powdery floral that sits pretty close to the skin. It’s such an easy reach for work and everyday activities. I get about 4+ hours on the skin, a little longer on clothing. If you are looking for a soft, inoffensive fragrance that lasts - I’d definitely give this one a try!

Doesn’t change much from initial spray I recommend it for spring and fall
