Eden

I received this as a Christmas gift when I was probably 10 years old, so I wore it as a child for some time. Never touched or smelled it again, until on my wedding day, my Aunt hugged me, and her perfume instantly took me back to that time in my childhood. It is a fragrance you can never forget once you try it. So unusual.

It's really bizzare and complex and I love it. I can understand that not everyone will click with this scent and that's okay, I guess this one's really love or hate. If you're into pretty and generic scents only (don't get me wrong, I love many pretty and generic scents), there's a big chance you won't like this one. The strange thing is that I mostly don't love older scent profiles, but it's their humid warmth that repulses me, and Eden is very cold, distant, green, but powdery at the same time. If it was a movie it would be something that Lars Von Trier would make, melancholia perhaps.

Loong time ago my highschool friend got this perfume and it smelled divine, even tho we were maybe too young for it. Sadly it was a bit weird on my skin. Tried it today again after many years and surprisingly it smells the same on my skin as when I smell it from the bottle! Its indeed a strange fragrance, for some reason its minty even tho there are no mint notes, patchouly and even some cocoa? Wet soil too like in Tom Ford orchid perfumes. Thats what Im getting. Its cold and wet, heavy but I can inhale it over and over. I think Ill give it a go and try it out this fall. Its dark witchy vampy.

In a time when everyone is obsessing over cake-batter vanilla and Tesco apple pie scents, this fragrance is a masterpiece. It has stood the test of time. It’s different, unusual, and holds a promise. This isn’t a scent for a basic babe; this is for a woman who loves The Row and doesn't compulsively shop for bargains at TK Maxx.

This is such a special, unique perfume. NOT A SAFE BLIND BUY. (But also it is not expensive so if you're curious....) It truly smells like a wet jungle. Or a flower bouquet in a vase that is starting to slowly decay - not enough to throw it away yet, but you can smell it a little bit. It is mature, little bit distant and dangerous. Not warm and inviting. It is bold and confident in its own jungly way. It does not care to please you. If this was made today, it would be a totally niche thing. Somebody here said "a swamp, but beware, a witch lives there" and that is absolutely right. Apart from the green wetness, I smell hints of exotic fruits, but not enough to call it a fruity perfume. Florals are definitely present, although there is not a single flower which I could identify. Hints of decay and nastyness. The longevity is INSANE on this one. Lasts forever. Pretty strong as well. Amazing performance for the price. Definitely not a crowd pleaser lol, it is very polarizing - you either love it or hate it. I happen to absolutely love it.

Ngl, when I first saw this perfume, I thought "that's a shitty bottle". Then I remembered niche brands release hand shaped caps and phallic-shaped bottles and I felt less judgemental about it. I also need to confess I decided to try the fragrance solely on the name being close to a Sleep Token song, not expecting a perfume to take me back to.... the people that get it, get it. I have no idea how white or yellow florals should smell, and the melon being listed there is a red herring to me, because it doesn't give fruity vibes at all at any stage. Instead, it's just... right, and decadent smelling. It gives a mix of a floral bouquet laid on a tomb in a parisian graveyard, and the faint smell of a stream filled with aquatic life. Maybe this is a very primitive description of water lily notes, or just an attempt of describing what it feels like to me. It does project well, but only because it's heavier on the floral notes. I'd use it late summer throughout all fall.

A mix of many different fragrances, yet it smells surprisingly good.

There are plenty who don’t like this one, but I do. To me this is a dark scent. Even though it’s floral fresh and powdery, something drags this scent into witchy territory… like the scent of a forest fairy who appears innocent but, if you look carefully, harbors sneaky thoughts… or like a bog witch disguised as a fairy… Normally aquatic flowers like lotus and water lily and airy flowers like mimosa should give a zen effect, but here the patchouli, which adds a mysterious weight, transforms the whole composition like a black and dark green spell and makes it unique. I will love and defend Eden until my dying breath. This is perhaps my favorite Big Floral Fragrance of all times. This is not just a polite and proper delicate floral bouquet. No, Eden is an entire ecosystem with stale water, reeds, wet, luminous, radioactive tropical greenery. It is a masterpiece of the 90's avant-garde perfumery, intoxicating, incredibly rich. A floral maximalist's dream.

I love this perfume so much. It's strong floral scent but also so refreshing. I also smell I little citrus in it. I received many compliments while wearing it. It's really long lasting - I needed to reapply just once through the day. Some say it's grandma scent and I have to say - yeah, a bit. After all it's just beautiful scent and it's one of my best blind purchase. If you want to smell unique, buy it.

An old lady I was assisting at work was wearing a perfume that smelled ethereal, fresh and amazing. I asked what she had on and she says Cacharel Eden. So I'm baffled now cuz all I read below is negative reviews.

Bitter fruity but there's so much going on and all the notes are working against each other that it's just so harsh and confusing to my nose. Reminds me of those horrible chalky swizzles sweets you get in the uk

i was so excited to try this i was told it would smell like a garden fairy but instead it's just grass

The smell is quite different and nice But is not as unique as it is described in some of these reviews It’s not an extraordinary and unique piece of art These people in the reviews are exaggerating But the longevity is really good on clothes

My downstairs neighbour is an old lady with hygiene issues that bathes herself in Eden. I never knew what this perfume was until I smelled it at random on some perfume store and I almost gagged. I don’t know if I detest this one so much because of the aforementioned association or just because it’s not my thing but I genuinely hate it with a burning passion.

I just got my S.O to smell this while we were laying in bed. I had been describing it to him as this scent of a shimmering water nymph surrounded by dew covered water lilies... ( he said the notes sound like a Wiccan rubbed in pineapple pizza. ) I sprayed it on his arm and he laughed heartily and said..... ' This smells exactly like 90's department store bathrooms urinal cakes.... without the urine' But he doesn't hate it Fades to a 'cool water knock of brought from a street corner in Australia ' Bottle looks looks like a you tube weight loss supplement that gives you severe tummy troubles He gave it a 10/10 ( would use in toilet)

My first and worst blind buy! I'm so disappointed as I really like other Cacharel fragrances and the notes and reviews made this sound like a green aquatic floral dream. Eden gives me a strong blue-green toilet disinfectant block from school days. Catches in the back of my throat and makes me feel ill. Just unbearable. I've tried twice, just the tiniest spray, but have had to scrub it off. Bottle is adorable but the juice is a nightmare.

It is like LouLou (Cacharel) now went into the jungle, a jungle full with plastic plants. Just apply far from yours or anyone else’s nose and nobody will faint. 👍

i honestly fell in love with the scent the second i smelled it. i am a man, but i've been looking for a very special perfume for a long time, and this is perfect. lasts SO long, sillage is insane and i think the word that describes this best is "funky". will definitely buy again!

Like many reviews described, it opens up as a very harsh herbal smell, almost like some herbal medicine, quite unpleasant. After a few minutes the flowery notes comes in so it's nicer. When it finally settles down it's a floral but also woody scent. Very heavy on the patchouli and sandalwood. The woody notes makes this almost a unisex fragrance. It's definitely heavy and I wouldn't wear this during the day. I bought this blindly and I'm still trying to decide if I would ever use it. To me it smells a little too much like an old lady perfume. I was hoping it would be as green and lovely as the gorgeous bottle, something fresh and clean. It's definitely green, but not fresh at all.

This scent used to linger around my grandparents’ house, especially bathrooms where it was sprayed - the sillage and longevity are top notch. The scent itself is so magical, it feels retro and suits it’s 90s release, while not falling behind modern fragrances. It’s a timeless floral, herbal, even fairy-like smell that’s insanely hard to describe in words other than beautiful and artistic. Love it so much

I am someone who loves to spend most of her time surrounded by the lush greenery of nature ever since i was a young child. At my grandmothers' farm, the woods and forests surrounding my home, my own garden. Having tended and grown my own garden more than once and planning on a new one in the near future, i have a olfactive treasure trove of nature's lush greenery. There is a fairy-like ground cover plant that i have in my garden called Gallium Odorata or sweet woodruff. Loves to grow on damp shady and characteristically ancient woodland soil, mostly covering the grounds of magical and hauntingly beautiful beech woods. I absolutely love their fragrant little leaves and tiny white flowers and is very close to what eden smells like in her beautifil drydown. Aspecially when you dry the leaves. Then the fragrance is stronger. People in the countryside here used to hang little bundles of dried woodruff between their clothes, like in the Provence where they use lavender, to scent their closets. Further about Eden: Agreed the opening is a bit of a jumpscare, but that doesn't say anything about the actual composition of the fragrance and the way it is coming together. Not an everyday fragrance for me but definitely one for visiting a garden wedding or other special event outdoors in spring, summer or autumn. There also is an element of nostalgia as i think a lot of people near me exept my parents, probably wore this fragrance.

Like a breath of spring breeze from an enchanted dreamcore vaporwave forest. It has its hyper futuristic and simultaneously nostalgic quality. It starts off sharply, but then settles down after about five minutes. The scent is dominated by sweet tuberose and very fresh lily-of-the-valley, paired with something freshly green and something reminiscent of glossy paper. Then, after about 30 minutes, fruit begins to emerge, especially peach. It's very unusual and surreal and easily outshines many modern niche in terms of uniqueness

I had been searching for perfumes with the notes of black locust so I decided to give this a try.Overall,it doesn't start off that great,there's this weird starting note which overpowers the other ones.Its too strong,it smells too synthetic and irritates the nose quite a lot.

This was my signature scent in 2008+ and I'm craving this fragrance again. I read so many of the previous reviews and I love them, I agree with many of them. When I got this perfume I was looking to feel like a magical creature of the forest, a fairy by the pond, a witch in the woods. I wanted to connect with nature when I was in the city. And it gave me the unique vibe that I wanted. Now I want to bring it back but with a twist. So far, I tested it at the store and the formulation seems to be the same or very similar. I'm thinking of layering this with something herbal like Tam Dao, something woody like Ameer Al Oud, something floral like Ego Exotic. We'll see. Excited to bring this back into my collection.

I wasn’t alive in the 90s but I would have worn the hell out of this back then. Opens with something anise like, a burst of florals and aquatic vibes. Settled to a more patchouli mimosa/tuberose forward scent. Neon pink and yellow fairies in a green lush garden come to mind.

Finally a perfume with a melon note that I can wear and does not turn badly sour on my skin! It may either not be present or be a honeydew note, juicier and a hint sweet. What I know is that this one works on my skin! ----- I am describing the modern one, it may happen that the old one is very different, I don't know. This is an interesting one. Green plants but also softness, airy and watery but in a warm-ish morning way. Difficult to describe. It's not powdery per se but shares that feeling of enveloping hug that the airier powdery perfumes sometimes have. At the same time it's more that that. Clean but not sharp, green and vegetal but not sour, vaguely fruity but not sweet. I think the best description I can give is "airy warm". Reminds me of the airiness of Noa, but if Noa is a winter morning, Eden is a green, dewy, spring morning. Not challenging, but different from the current "clean" fragrances.

The bottle looking like a jade treasure, the oppressive humid notes and flat emotional depth reminiscent of Anais Anais is just so haunting and melancholic I would never dare to buy a full bottle, it reminds me of suicide.
