Escape

It’s now a 90s mom scent. Very complex floral aquatic. There are no notes standing out. It just smells good, maybe dated to some.

I love this fragrance. I am a dude. I wear it sometimes. I am wearing it today and that is why I am here right now, writing about the experience. This is a fragrance that makes me feel. No adjective, just the verb. I used to wear the male companion in high school and loved it. I was unfamiliar with the feminine version until later in life, or perhaps I smelled it on others and just never identified what I was smelling and it has been stored in the recesses of my brain. I feel like this is a good companion piece to the male version, but they are quite different. The note breakdown on this fragrance is absolute insanity. So much goes into it. And it absolutely works. It's floral. There is marigold. There is jasmine. There is a sweetness. There is resin. There is a tartness. There is warmth and amber. There is light woods. There is greenness. There is musk. But, in the end, it is a blend of so many things. This is its own thing. It's beast mode. I'm really into fragrances that are big and project. This one does that. Much more than the men's version. I also think my sense of smell isn't as strong as some of the folks in the world of perfumery. This one is out there and in your face. Or, to use the word that Brooklyn Fragrance Lover used to say a lot: this fragrance is FULL. It fills your olfactory senses in a way that feels like there isn't anything lacking. Escape makes me feel good. It makes me feel happy. I hope to always have it in my collection.

I've been wearing Escape since 1991, and I still remember the friend who gifted me my very first bottle! It's my SOTD, and I've already received four compliments today (it is 10 am). Escape has always had this magical compliment-charm for me. Even though it has been reformulated, it still captures the essence of the first bottle I fell in love with. Can't help but love it!

This is my youth, my love, my memories, a part of me, my life. I still keep 100ml bottles in stock, for fear that it will never be found again. This is still a super modern, nostalgic scent that is so perfect and for which I always receive compliments. Escape, I hope you continue to exist for a long time❤️

I grabbed this as soon as it was released and I wore it nonstop in my 20s!! I would almost call it a love but rated it a like because my tastes have changed a little. I also feel like the newer formula is a bit different from the original although still identifiable. It was/is a summer scent for me. It smells incredibly fresh but still has a beautiful depth to it in the original vintage version. On me, it lasted forever! I used to joke that they should’ve named this one Eternity instead of the actual one. My car always smelled of this, my handbag and probably about anything else I owned! I have learned I love a marigold note! The carnation also comes out on my skin but the notes are well blended. This newer formula is a bit lacking in the creaminess of the original but maybe that will come out more as it matures. I’m hoping. Look at this note structure! I adore how complex the fragrances were in the 90s! It’s really a beautiful fragrance and evokes so many memories for me! I remember, for some reason, it was $68 back in the 90s. I guess because I had to save up for it with my sad paychecks back then! 😂I can’t believe how inexpensive it is now! Worth every penny of the $24 I paid for it! I love the sleek bottle! I personally don’t find this dated, however, I think it is a bit mature if you’re in your teens or even perhaps 20s. It’s just not youthful by today’s current trends. I still really enjoy it!

I remember when both Escape and Eternity was first released, I was at High School back then so I know for a fact that this has definitely been reformulated. It is less marine/calone noted as before and now more heavier on the cloves. This new formulation has less of that innovative bracing sharp salty sea air effect that was so groundbreaking in the original which made it seem more leftfield and niche given how famous and popular Calvin Klein was back then. This one is more rounded and polished and lacking the nuance and depth of the original and so while still a beautiful high class type fragrance is less striking and compelling. Likening it to a woman, it is like having a youthful and fleeting glimpse of a strikingly beautiful woman but who retains a distance, an aura of mystery, a knowing wistful melancholia about her that elevates her beauty to a profound greatness. Then you meet her again later in life and the mystery has gone, the liveliness and spark has been snuffed out. The fine features and beauty remain but she has had a life of boredom through money and she smiles but is muted for she no longer has anything special to say or evoke in others and she is very aware of that. So you spend time in her presence a little sad of the greatness that has been quenched but still appreciative of the beauty that remains.

smells just like sunflowers and diamonds & sapphires, but maybe a little more rounded/soft around the edges with s smidge more fruit and vanilla. very, very redundant if you already own either of those.

Such a beautiful scent. Such a grandmother scent and doesn’t wither away at all. Got told i smelled like a candle, also told i smell like grandma’s fabric store. Cant wait to have this again

I was in high school when this came out and I remember it mainly from scent strips in magazines and liking it there. I never owned it and remember the girls wearing more Eternity and the guys wearing the men's version of this. The opening is pleasant and invigorating-a floral and very tart apple combination- but the floral wanes and goes into a somewhat metallic and/or marine like note combined with the melon, finishing in the marine domain, where I suppose it's closest to the Issey Miyake. Metallic melon, which is where this fragrance can take one's nose, is certainly not relaxing or comforting me-dont spray this can before bed-and can even be slightly nauseating particularly if oversprayed. I guess I need my fruit notes subtle and well balanced. Prominent fruit unless citrus is not my comfort zone in a perfume. Here it is not sweet, thank goodness, but it is a bit sour. I can't compare this Dune because I can't remember that one but I sense the comparison isn't quite right. It's also not Calyx as one reviewer suggested, which I did wear and enjoy back in the day, though the invigorating bombastic nature of both is in a similar vein. Calyx is probably more my scent personality, as is Cristalle by Chanel. There is something here worth appreciating though. It's long lasting and fairly well constructed. There is nothing dirty or oppresively candied about which one so often encounters in today's hyper gourmande vanillic world. I perhaps like it best in its full dry down. Nostalgic, surely, though perhaps it has suffered in its reformulation to some degree. I can't offer any advice there. I would say if you know it at all and can get it for twenty dollars or less it's a good buy but it's not my favourite.

Might be a good back of the knees spray. This was my first “grown up” perfume purchase in 1998. My dad wore Eternity for men at the time and I think it influenced this purchase. I haven’t smelled it in years and I just repurchased it for myself in December 2025. It’s quite strong and projecting but I find the scent pleasant, even when I close my eyes and actively dismiss the nostalgia. As a more mature scent fan, I can now discern the different notes beyond just “I like this”. The rose floats to the top on the open for me. It doesn’t give me a headache but I can see how some feel that way. I think if you did an air spritz and walk into it with the back of your knees, it would last all day and wear well without being too heavy. It has a clean, soft floral scent. It’s not at all powdery which I love as, for me, powdery scents tend to feel like I’m breathing literal powder. I’ve also noticed that it smells different at different ranges. Like when I spray on my wrist, it smell roses and some of the fruits and spices, but when I bring that same wrist to my nose, I smell carnations and melon and almost soapy white flowers. It’s a very interesting fragrance that’s sometimes fun just to analyze because it’s packed with so many notes.

I would love to smell this again just to relive my college freshman romance in scent form. My boyfriend bought this fragrance for me and it became "my smell" for as long as we dated (a couple of years off and on). After we broke up, another girl who wanted him to ask her out went out and bought this thinking it would entice him into a relationship with her (it didn't). This reminds me of when models still had curves...right before CK One and Be took over and heroin chic became cool. Good memories.

As a few reviews below mention either this stuff makes for a beast mode blast from the past. This was my signature scent since I was 16 and to this day NO OTHER perfume elicits more compliments for me than Escape. And I am an avid collector with over 300 fragrances. I don’t know if it’s how it reacts with my skin or what but Escape gets a result. I’m just saying. These days I only wear it rarely because I know it leans vintagy in 2025 but it’s never failed me

This one is toooo much, like I have old vintage scents what I consider this type pf too much, but this one is even more headache inducing and crazy. You know when you smell a fragrant "wild" flower up to the nose and it kinda stings your nose and throat cause of the scent note it has. It's like that except it's multiple different flowers with some sort of melon smell in the background. It's not even loud in a good way...it's like painting your face with acrylics to look like a flower...don't get it. Tbh I dunno who'd wear this young or old, office or whatever, I don't like it. Maybe spray I'll try spraying it away and a day before, and the dry down will be reasonable. I'd gift this to someone I dislike, but pretending not to, personally.

Vintage review: This is a floral aquatic, but warmer than most, with a very unique apple-spice note hidden within. It's also pretty green and woodsy. This is the best aquatic scent in my opinion. The way it surrounds you with a crisp, warm aura is just amazing.

My wife loves it. I think it's a very good fragrance for that money.

I remember this from the 90's, and initially I loved the clean, aquatic vibe. It was literally beast mode, and unfortunately there was a point when almost everyone wore it. It became too much - like a song that's been horribly overplayed on the radio. I would recognize the piercing green of it from over 200 feet away, and cringe. It opens as a bright, fruity aquatic and quickly develops into a loud, sweet, almost harsh green smell. Something about its particular combination of melon, apple, marigold, oakmoss and vetiver would become screechy, and unpleasant. On top of that, it projects like mad in an overwhelming, green assault. Hot temperatures with humidity counter & mellow out the harsh, green notes - so it is better in summer. Definitely not a good choice in cooler, crisp weather such as fall or winter - it seems to become sharper.

Bought this five years ago to bring back memories, got into it again and wore it quite a bit (about half the bottle), but now I cannot stand it. There is something metallic about it that I used to love but it now it’s just gross. I still think it’s a staple that must be tried and appreciated, it kind of reminds me of a 90s Ganymede tbh

the notes are CRAZY. this is a floral, but it's extremely overpowering and not sweet or airy as i like. definitely an older woman smell~ husband likes bc "it smells like a flower"

Omg 90s Vintage Beastmode! I’m sorry y’all but the new juice smells just like the old juice. I should know, I wore it for years. It’s a love it or hate it scent which imo makes scents special or maybe even masterpieces. This is fun to revisit and realize the notes I loved and lived in were so complex. The longevity, projection and sillage are unstoppable. Its a power fragrance that doesn’t smell like anything else, but I agree it is dated, in the best way, to my beloved 90s. Its loud and proud and not apologizing for anything.

My roommate in college wore this every stinking (and I do mean stinking) day and it gave me such a headache. I honestly couldn't stand it. I've smelled it in the past few years and it wasn't SO bad, but still WAY too strong. I looked at the notes and I can't even say I can pick out any of them, aside from melon maybe. All in all, I give this a 5/10, mainly getting points only for projection and sillage. Otherwise, it's a hard pass from me.

I had this in 1997 and bought a bottle again now for nostalgic reason. I think this one is very Good and special.

It’s funny how your mind will create an idea of something that can be so far from what the thing actually is. I knew so many songs from Porgy and Bess that I was shocked when I finally saw it — the story was not remotely what I had imagined from hearing the songs all those years. Somewhere along the way I decided that Escape was a beachy amber. Dune, but in the Calvin Klein mode. So imagine my surprise when I discovered a juicy melon on my wrist! Typically, I hate melon, but this is great! Even my sad Coty version. It does feel dated, it’s true, but it’s very refreshing and the marigolds do a great job counter-balancing the melon. I now realize I’ve smelled this hundreds of times on passers by over the years. It’s funny. Edited to add: my freshman year roommate wore the Perspectives version of Calyx and this really reminds me of it.

Sesuai labelnya parfum ini menurut saya memang khusus buat wanita. Entah tidak cocok untuk pria atau kulit saya yang agak lain... Di kulit saya tidak tercium aroma fruity atau melon sama sekali, malah bau metallic parah kemudian baru diikuti aroma floral itupun mesti diendus dekat ke kulit. Giliran saya semprot ke ibu dan adik perempuan saya, baunya jadi enak floral dan sedikit hint fruity sedari awal spray.

The name of this fragrance is totally apropos. I have just tested this in one spot on one hand (after two weeks maturing after purchase) and I immediately get the sense that I'm gently astral projecting over beautiful, dreamy landscapes with the most gorgeous bright colors I have ever seen. This is my third CK fragrance and I'm 3 for 3 in the LOVE category. They are all just so beautiful and dreamy and smell EXPENSIVE 😚😍☺️ I'm eyeing Eternity Intense next. This fragrance definitely makes me go Aaaahhhhhhh 💋💋💋

Bought it for nostalgia purposes but selling it. I don’t remember a cigarette ash tray note in the opening but this is just so dated it’s not even giving me a happy nostalgic anything unfortunately. Eternity I can still work with.

Grown up floral perfume, a tad vintage leaning in its scent profile. So please be aware of that as it may not be a safe blind buy for you, if you don't like vintage scents. I'm not obsessed with it, I don't love it, but I don't mind it. I definitely don't hate it. I think that it's a nice classic scent with an interesting scent profile. I need to be in the mood for it though.

One reviewer below said that her boyfriend gave her her first bottle. There is a reason for that. This stuff does make us men pretty helpless and hopeless. Talked to other guys about it too so not just me. Guess it's just the right balance of floral green musk and saltwater. And there is a rush accompanied with the first whiff. Highly effective is all I'm sayin'.

A few years ago I was at work and a woman walked in and breezed by me and smelled like absolute heaven. I mean absolutely heavenly. And it radiated throughout the store and I had to know what it was. I asked her and she told me it was Escape by Calvin Klein and that she has went through too many bottles to count, buys it cheap online, and always always gets compliments. I was sold immediately and could not get that scent out of my mind. I finally purchased a bottle and sprayed it on me and was so so disappointed because it did not smell the way that woman smelled that day. But it soon did, it developed into this beautiful floral musky marigold scent that just blew me away. im sure it is not for everyone but man am I glad I bought this one. Absolutely love it.

smells beautiful, smells like my mom <3 she's been wearing it since i was a baby on every special occasion and family event. when i move out i might just get a bottle to smell it when i miss her.

I've had this in sample size hiding at the back of my display. From what I remembered, I didn't like it because it smells like hair salon. But now, it smells so powdery and classic. Think of it as an old lady powder but soft and she's driving a red convertible somewhere in Amalfi Coast. It's not something great, but it's not bad either. I'm saying this as positive as possible, it's an OK scent.
