CK Eternity Women. A great pefume for its price. CK Eternity Men is terrible, though.

Back in the 80’s when this first came out, anyone I knew who wore it seemed to douse themselves with it to the point of it smelling like strong pesticides to me. The retail store I worked in would literally smell of it for hours after one customer wearing it had left. Everyone I worked with hated it and dreaded seeing her because she always wore it. Because of this, I never wanted to try it and still think of it as a horrible fragrance even without any personal experience. Is it weird that I now want to see what it would be like on me without applying too much? I know I am good at that because I generally only get comments on how I smell when people hug me (I wear fragrance for me and not to torture or please others. It’s like mood therapy to me.) Why after all these years and plenty of other fragrances to try, am I curious about Eternity? Hmmm…..

this shall be a strange story. but I'll give explanations where I can. I know this perfume well. my perfume career started in 1974 and in 1980 I was 23 years old. so I have lived the 1980s to the fullest. which means, for the queer half of a twin with my straight twinbrother, that he loved gent's scents and I immediately decided they were nothing for me, in 1974 that is. now when the 1980s started this would prove for me the most prominent decade of perfumery (while I wasn't aware of that then). now Calvin Klein offered in 1985 one of the three baddest hookers of the infamous 1980s Obsession. she was accompanied by Chanel Coco, Dior Poison and Giorgio Beverly Hills. these were my kind of perfumes. and my mother loved them too, to the detriment of my poor father with his excellent nose... Eternity then came in 1988, in 1989 'Giorgio Beverly Hills Red'. also in 1988 you had Estée Lauders Knowing. further Moschino parfum de toilette, Chistian Lacroix C'Est la Vie, YSL's Opium (1977) and Paris a sharp rose perfume (lovely). I could go on with name-dropping but this is my purpose: these were not perfumes but chemical warfare. these were code 4 Alarmist Presentist perfumes which took up the space and asphyxiated everyone. and so did Eternity and I loved it. but things can go strange. I smelled it then, but with the overload of perfumes which I actually bought and used, and bought for my mother, Eternity somehow managed to stay out of reach. I loved it but found it also as strong as it was, 'unchangeable'. then Calvin Klein launched Escape while Dior launched Dune, which I both didn't liked so much. I think they anticipated the aquatic, ozonic, clean, fresh 1990s, trends which I loathed. now I must move FFW. a couple of years back, while this Dutch perfumery already didn't caught up on Calvin Klein, there it was: a box between the gleaming new launches and 'fruitchoulis' and Bulgari - Prada - Lancôme - Chloe etc attention grabbers, there stood this old box with Eternity, completely unexpected and out of place, and of an old Edition pre-Reformulation. and I bought it while it wasn't even downprized (I never cared for prices while I just was a nurse with a common salary). but I mean, this artefact, where did it came from and what did it stood there in a bit dirty whitish with grey edge box.... to hell with facts, I had the perfume and it was smashing. now I did move on with the times but measure each perfume to the 1980s hooker perfumes, but in 2003 Montale came with his screechy Rose-Ouds which I all loved. in the aquatic 1990s some of the most vile and heady, floral, wilthed, indolic, Rose Prerogative perfumes were launched. in 1990s Gale Hayman Beverly Hills, a civet bomb which seemed to encompass all the witches of the 1980s together. also in 1990 (or thereabouts) Donna Karan by Donna Karan, Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir, in 2000 Guerlains Mahora (the Maison already in the 1980s offered Nahéma) and vCleef & Arpels Gem and (1970s) First, Oscar de la Renta Oscar (1980s). but the aquatic Air and Sea and Fresh and Clean 1990s decade I could come yet through with what I had gathered. now the strange event of finding a flacon Eternity, an older one, lost on the shelves. I so so love this perfume. but its composition is (not) entirely, but different from what I thought. I thought it is a White Flower perfume with a bunch of Tuberose. only NOW I see what Sophia Grojsman did. Freesia, Carnation, Lily, Lily of the Valley, Rose, Jasmine, Violet, Marigold, Heliotrope, THIS was the flower assault. but it was also ala Giorgio, Giorgio Beverly Hills Red, Estees Beautiful and Knowing, the somewhat other directed Poison and Obsession, like Moschino, Paris and Y (a 1970s Chypre from YSL for WOMEN), these were all ANNEXATIONIST perfumes which assaulted entire restaurants and Airplanes with flowers, Musks, Ambers, Plum and Peach, of course aromachemicals and what a decade that was. I am so glad to have learned to know Eternity, be it a little late to the party but with the original perfume. she is as sure a devils sister as all the other gals of that era. I am riddled by the composition but it is sheer genius. now do I smell the flowers separately and it is bit of mysterious perfume while it also is AS LOUD AS HELL as I then wanted perfumes to be and still wants them to hover around me. all that time, say in 40 years, I bought all kind of perfumes (I love Chanel No5, Coco, No19, Coco Mademoiselle). Lancôme La Vie est Belle two flankers (by Dominique Ropion my favorite perfumer) LVEB Intensément and Iris Absolu, Flowerbomb, but also all kinds of niche perfumes Dusitas Oudh Infini, Terry de Gunzberg's Terryfic Oud and Terryfic Oud Extrême. but now I discovered Eternity has withstand the time and holds its Allure Super Féminin high and on top ! finally we're there.

I first bought this in 1992 and it has stood the test of time. It’s a masterpiece of a fragrance. I loved it then and I still love it. I have an original bottle I got in 1995 which I’ve kept in a cupboard. It smells as fresh and as long lasting as it did back then. I love it.

I got this for my mother, but it ended up back in my collection because she didn't wear it often. I don't hate it, but I never reach for it. It's an indecipherable soapy white floral that can go screechy on my skin. Sometimes I get a sinus headache when smelling it. I haven’t gotten rid of it because want to give it a second chance with layering. A mature, soap-heavy, white floral "perfumey" perfume.

CK Eternity isn't in my top 5 but I must say, she is perfect. An easy reach, office friendly, bedtime friendly, all seasons, all occasions, just perfect for all. Bright, soapy, and airy with a hint of spice. I will never be caught without a bottle of this gem. Can be layered with almost anything to add brightness. It reminds me of the OG Freesia Body Fantasy spray but a grown up version. Perfection.

An absolute master piece! I adore this fragrance so much!

Michael Jackson wore this one right? it smells very clean and has nice sweet florals. good projection, it’s very strong and you can smell it from a mile away. it’s pretty mature smelling.

i feel like this perfume could be the definiton of a inoffensive, office/work perfume that is light, fresh, clean but not powdery or musky and leans more towards unisex than feminine, overall. it is a floral scent, yet to me, what i immediately think of is either baby wipes or powder in the most flattering way. the scent just feels airy, soft, clean, and this could be one the few perfumes. that feel this nice and airy while carrying 'green' notes. it makes me feel clean, put-together but not with much effort (if that makes sense?) and reserved.

I’m reminiscing…. My mom wore this so this is based off of that. I hated this!!! There is something about marigolds or tagates? That sets me the F off!! It’s in their obsession and in the OG Halston!! So for obsession I had the same issue!! Yet? I loved obsession for men! It was softer sexy muskier mmm but marigolds tend to make things BITTER!! That’s what this smells like to me bitter cleaner 😬 yet by reviews it shows perfumes are subjective… I had to look eternity up here as I was curious when I saw it on Amazon recently, and I was shooketh looking at the notes! Carnation ?? There’s NONE of the sweet spice clove vibe that carnations would bring!? Freesia?? Hmm don’t smell it and I honestly think?? Those notes are indeed probably in there!! But marigolds can throw off a whole perfume for ME! So don’t go by my review 😂 I have a serious issue with tagates/marigold 🤷♀️ I’m curious if anyone else is like me??

tudo o que a Grojsman faz é um verdadeiro pesadelo na minha pele e no meu ofalto. esse perfume tem um desempenho péssimo para mim, um cheiro de coisa velha, forte, que invade a cabeça da gente e causa muito incômodo. muito datado e invasivo, não sinto saudade alguma dele na coleção.

I wanted to like this so bad...I was expecting nostalgic, clean, classy, floral woman in the late 80s or 90s but instead it just smells exactly like a strong medicine oil I had to rub on my great grandmother's molar whenever she had pain. there is nothing pleasing about this fragrance at all. I have never regretted a blind buy so much in my entire life. maybe if I didn't have such a terrible experience with that medicine oil I wouldn't hate this so much. not for me unfortunately.

One of my all time favorites. It smells like lilacs to me.

This is such a classic fragrance. So well balanced between the citrus notes and the floral notes. None are too overpowering. It is clean without being overtly feminine. Anyone could wear this. It's truly a masterpiece.

Jasmine, freesia, and the sweetness of white flowers, balanced by a subtle citrus-herbal note — yet they aren’t heavy or overly sweet, but rather light and airy, perfect for wearing after a shower on a summer morning.

If I were forced to choose only ONE perfume for the rest of my life to be used and every other fragrance would disappear never to be smelled again I wouldn’t even have a single hesitation when I proudly screamed from the top of the tallest mountain… ETERNITY FOR WOMEN! This is my aunts favorite. My favorite. A cousins favorite. My sisters favorite. When we have any get together you will smell this on at LEAST two of us if not ALL of us. Just absolutely beautiful and lasting and loud. Demands attention. You have to be THAT bitch to rock this confidently.

I have smelled this on others without knowing that was Eternity. I tested this for the first time only today. Wow! I think carnation pulls the whole composition together and stands in the centre. It's gorgeous 😍 I didn't expect it to be so sweet. It has almost gourmand quality, sweetness which is almost dessert like. I love it ♥️ Ps- did you guys know how fabulous this is for layering? The carnation simply lifts so many fragrances!

To me Eternity 1988 is a female fougere-esque floral perfume. It's very similar to men's Safari by Ralph Lauren. Has that powdery white stick antiperspirant vibe. It's probably could be a more modern USA unisex interpretation of Paris by YSL, too, having less rose & more green effervescent fizz . Makes sense because Sophia Gman. was the nose for both.

I have owned this bottle for years and never decluttered it even though it did not work on my skin years ago. However, I gave it a good try this morning and am pleasantly surprised that I can wear it! This is a strong green floral on my skin. Very 90’s which I love! From start to finish, about 2.5 hours, it is a unique blend of scents that I find serious and require a commitment for the duration of wear. Fine by me. This is not a scent that sits quietly in the background undetected. I know I am wearing it. It end with a lovely green note on me and I am enjoying it very much today. At least till it becomes a base layer of another perfume later today.

I don't know why I couldn't stand this before, perhaps it was that one carnation note which ruined it for me, it was too spicy. I love all of the other notes and for a spring/summer fragrance it's pretty long lasting. I still get the carnation note, but I've grown used to it and now smell more of the rose and other florals, in particular the white florals which I love. It's kinda sad most people think only of a 90s vintage vibe, but the trends are seeing it's return. It's great layered too with something softer. Green notes and florals perfect for nostalgic warm weather.

If being a teen in the 90s had a smell, this would be it. It smells like watching Friends in real time. Like baby tees, and slip dresses, and the absolute freedom of life without cellphones. I think it's absolutely wild that this is now thought of as old fashioned. To me, it's the ultimate casual, clean girl perfume...iconic 90's minimalism.

I know some of you think this perfume’s only suited for old women but the scent profile doesn’t come off as dated to me (mid-20s female) or my same aged friends. It’s not a juvenile scent at all, but it also isn’t too outdated that it’s unwearable. In fact I treat this as a girly floral scent that I wear when I’m going for a cottagecore fit. It’s deeply soaked in floral greenness, but it also registers as soapy and citrussy. Not my favorite frag but still an easy reach for when I want to feel girly and clean.

My friend wears it pretty much ever since it came out. It's her signature scent. It is a bit old-school and a bit mumsy despite it being a fresh and flowery fragrance. I can only smell it when I hug my friend hello and goodbye so I don't know what kind of projection/performance people are talking about. I would say it's super intimate. I never sprayed it on myself because after smelling it on my friend I know for a fact this isn't my mix of profile notes I would go for.

I can't realize if this is vintage indeed. More like classic. Definitely clean. Definitely floral. And I definitely like it

Its definitely a pleasant smell, but my bottle is full. It's way too powdery and smells a bit more like a room spray than anything in my opinion. It's definitely fresh and a bit soapy, but it just doesn't feel like a perfume. It's plain and spicy and very much not my thing, but if you like a clean vintage type of scent, then this is for you.

For me, this smells "serious". Not in a bad way. But I may be gifting this to my mum who is a mature woman.

Eternity is charming, and this might be considered a stream of "hot takes", because I enjoy this, but I also don't think it's the most well-constructed of Sophia Grojsman's works. And...well, I adore S.G, but part of me speculates that the materials within Eternity are of lesser quality than other houses. Calvin Klein is often criticized as being entry-level stuff and not necessarily containing high-quality naturals or fixatives. I think I tend to agree with this claim, and it seems fair (I've tried a lot of CKs). Yet, there's always something fantastically casual, shamelessly pedestrian, wonderfully and refreshingly accessible about them all. And truly, this humbly fresh vibe is what I have come to appreciate most about their fragrances as a whole. I'm not the most refined person, and I've ALWAYS felt right at home in them (including the men's stuff). ~ This is a powdery house party of various florals. Lily-of-the-valley is the most popular a sorority sister hooking up with Patchouli - a total burnout who biked from the other side of town for a chance at her. Dirty meets soapy in some sort of cinematic way that happens to make all the sense in the world somehow. Marigold is handling drinks and music, truly a welcome face in a sea of chaos. Sunny, warm, welcoming...holding the whole thing together. Supported by her friend Amber, who is...kinda sloppy, but absolutely sweet and enjoyable. Sandalwood is waiting to make his move on Amber, but he's a shy, art major. Owing to Amber and Narcisse (who is table dancing...badly), nobody can hear him. Sage is sulking in the corner with her bottle of port that she brought herself, sharing nips of it with Sandalwood. Oddly enough, nobody can resist looking at her. She's jarring, and tries to have RBF, but she's gorgeous and everyone secretly adores her. Rose is puking outside by the fence. A total disaster. As the night wears on though, she straightens out a little. In all seriousness, this perfume is a fun, beautiful mess. I don't know why it's taken me this long to try it!
