Most fragrance enthusiasts know that "Eternity" was originally called "Fungie Fluid," but few know the reason why. Fungie was the world's oldest bottlenose dolphin. Residing off the coast of Dingle, Ireland, he was a friendly favorite of tourists. But he had a secret. Fungie suffered from acute marinic florstophis. In simple terms, he enjoyed shooting muddy streams of diarrhea out of an anus situated near the base of his tail. In 1989, Calvin Klein perfumer Denzel Loobenhoffen was visiting his son, also named Denzel Loobenhoffen, in Dingle. The elder Loobenhoffen, decked out in a smooth suit and sunglasses, strolled along the coast with a glass of champagne. First came a splash of water. It was Fungie bursting from beneath the waves. Then came another splash. It was an energetic burst of feces coating Denzel Loobenhoffen Sr. like he was the fluffy nougat core of a Snickers bar. "Eep eep," Fungie chirped as passersby watched in horror. Loobenhoffen knew he had been humiliated, that images of him bathed in anal pudding would dominate front pages. But he knew something else: Fungie's diarrhea smelled pleasant! The scent was both familiar and risque, evoking a feeling somewhere between a slow dance with your high school sweetheart and using barbed wire to tighten the base of a condom that is too large for your flimsy love tube. Loobenhoffen promptly sealed his poo-poo-filled champagne glass with Saran Wrap and boarded the next flight back to the US. Using a unique blend of fragrance oils, he spent seven months painstakingly replicating the aroma. The concoction was given green dye and a sophisticated name -- "Eternity" -- but anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of Fungie the dolphin's trademark bowel soup will always appreciate its true origin.
Please bring back the original formula; that was once a beautiful, projecting, and long-lasting fragrance. The original CK Eternity for men is one of my ultimate top ten fragrances. It's one that got me into fragrances back in 1995. My review is of the original formula, which was strong and long-lasting. It projected fantastically and always garnered compliments. It was a casual but uplifting scent that would definitely carry you throughout the day. Today's formula is simply tragic. Your Parfum version was decent, but it doesn't quite match the original formula from the early 90s. For the life of me, why do fragrance manufacturers do this to legendary fragrances? If it wasn't for Dior Fahrenheit, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, CK Escape, Aqua Di Gio, CK One, and CK Eternity, I wouldn't have such an affinity with fragrance. All of the above fragrances pale in comparison to what they once were, and it is a shame.
One of my boyfriends wore this in 2013. The green smell blended really well with unwashed hair and the smell of his cigarettes, actually. Still makes my head snap around if I smell it in the street. Smells like betrayal!
This was my father’s signature scent.. I still have a bottle for when I want to remember him, this is a classic for me. And now that he’s not around, the name “Eternity” really means something to me. Miss you dad.
CK Eternity Men. Very harsh and synthetic opening. It gives me runny nose immediately.
I think I just don't have a mature enough nose and still just overall childlike and naive so take my opinion with a grain of salt, it just isn't for me. This was like my main fragrance for a big portion of my teenage years because I was poor and tasteless, and to be fair it is a very decent fresh cologne. The dry down is better and bearable, but top notes and when sprayed on my clothes just smells like a mess of spices. Its just sharp and unpleasant, there are better fresh fragrances from ck themselves. This version of eternity just isn't it.
When I first smelled it, it smelled ever so feminine like the womens eternity probably because they share the same DNA. However, the more I wore it the better it smelled. My family loves it, so does my gf. Its a classy, clean and very welcoming masculine scent. Im buying a bottle very soon once my tester is finished.
woody and clean i like it
Who didn't love this back in the day. I've been wearing the body spray and the normal bottle a bit and it's actually insane. It's really strong but try not to judge it off the first spray. Once it chills out and you're getting light wafts it is incredible. I've heard girls say it's their favorite still to this day. It's so cheap every dude should give it a try. It's among my top favorites truly
My middle school signature Also, Fall Out Boy
My scent during high school. Hate all you want but I was a ladies man during those days and this was my signature. This used to give me confident boost after hugging the ladies in the halls and getting compliments from them. Fragrance itself maybe 6/10 Sentimental rating 8/10
Smells like mosquito spray.
This is pleasant enough. Pretty strong and durable scent though not the nuclear bomb that’s so popular right now. It’s got a pleasant apple top, round and full, with a sturdy soapy base and a nice dollop of clean musk. Plenty of body to the scent but not a lot of complexity jumping out at you. A good dumb reach clean scent. I’d wear it more but it irritates my lungs a bit.
Come up with whatever reasons you want to downplay it but one thing is beyond dispute: if there is ever a universal short list of frags which could be the easiest of easy reaches for any man of any age bracket, wearable in almost any setting, that list will have to include Eternity for Men. It may not get you complimented (so what?) but if it's noticed you likely will be appreciated for it, and you'll never be offensive because of it.
The people on here saying it won't get you compliments are silly at best. This fragrance is the type that cannot get outdated. Because it doesn't smell like the avg very modern fragrance, it stands out. I received a compliment wearing this just a couple weeks back waiting in line at a restaurant here in Seattle. 90% of those speaking negative on this fragrance are mistaking it for Eternity Cologne, this is Eternity (Without the cologne) big difference. Layer this with SWY Intensely and it's a monster
Reliable scent for the spring and morning summer days. Very clean and masculine. I don’t really care for the citrus in this but i love the fresh herbal green vibe from it mainly. Im 28 so i don’t have any context regarding previous formulations or what the culture was like when it dropped. Regardless, doesn’t give me “50+ year old” but i think a 50+year old would smell appropriate for their age with this. A scent that could work with any adult in a professional setting. Not a compliment getter really but I don’t think thats the point of this scent. It’s fresh, clean, and earthy. Left wanting more green so perhaps I’ll explore that way
Smells like Green Irish Tweed
A very boring fresh and clean scent. The type of fragrance an AI would create. It's not necessarily "Bad" but it's not doing anything interesting. I couldn't imagine getting compliments while wearing this.
Don't get me wrong, I like Eternity. It is my reference point for "barbershop," since I refuse to grant Old Spice that position. But it does smell dated and there's something weird about it, in a 80s-90s style way. This is really fume-y in a way that seems to be common to a lot of fragrances from this time period. The fumes aren't a fragrance note, it's more like it makes me wonder if they used different solvents back then which led to this fume-y texture and presence. Because there are a lot of fragrances which have it while not sharing any fragrance notes, so, it's more of a texture thing from the solution the aromatics are carried in, I think. That fumeyness is a lot of what makes Eternity smell extremely dated. And also very American. It evokes not just the scents of a locker room, but the excessive humidity from steaming hot showers. And the effervescence of fresh sweat on men's bodies. I'm not saying it smells like sweat, but it hits the nose the same way. You know how food has mouthfeel? This has the nosefeel of the way fumes of fresh sweat wick through the air.
It smells like demineralized water. If you want the ironed shirt scent profile, that’s the one.
A very nice fresh-spicy perfume with slight herbal touch that smells very mature. At times i find myself reaching for a more fresher and frutier perfume, but this is a really good addition to my collection.
Classic throwback. Lots of good here. It does have a sharp note somewhere that I can't always locate, it just crops up sometimes, usually early on. The performance isn't great. My wife likes it. 8 out of 10.
This used to be a classic, but unfortunately reformulation has turned it into a scratchy mess, the only saving grace is the short duration. I'm judging that on a recent bottle produced by Coty vs a mid 2000s bottle from Unilever (itself a reformulation, but one where the dry down at least is better and becomes a skin scent)
i know smell is subjective but this stinks. nobody can convince me otherwise. imagine a hospital in the summertime. its fresh and clean but not really good. just went to smell it as my roomate has it and... its specific. i dont like it, would not wear it, not safe to blind buy or as a gift.
Huge lavender and lemon-bergamot citrus old school open that gets herbal spicy gin-like with the sage and juniper interacting with the coriander late open. I can detect basil and some florals in the heart; nose to skin it's a little easier to pick out the jasmine and orange blossom for me, the rest are more a bouquet. The base is solid with powdery sandalwood and musky grassy mixed woods. I really love old school scents, so this was great!
Lucky to have a ~15-20yo bottle. My introduction to fragrances. Would always remind me of flashing lights and laser beams. Smelt like a la roux music video. After my nose evolved, its a nice citrusy and refreshing scent. No idea what the reformulation smells like, I'm sure they're right it's awful. My review is for an old bottle. mmmmm
I got a sample and oh my i just fell in love with. A fresh fougère scent that may come a little out dated to some but i dont feel that it is. Longevity on my skin is 10+ h somehow i can still smell it , faintly but i still can. Projection is about 3-4 feet. The smell is just sooooo good , i cant even know why there isn't any hype for this. Blind buy safe
Can be mass appealing, but to me the lemon just smells like cleaning products so I can't judge it properly.
Genuine banger. It smells like soft warm laundered clothes with a hint of sweetness.
Nice light airy scent, but it leans to soft powdery for me. Try before you buy!
