This is the best fragrance I've ever smelled after so long, no seriously. Soft, cashmere like softness with something subtly soapy and powdery. Very clean and sensual too. I imagine someone from the elite club rocking this who loves fashion and takes pictures of everything, has a taste in art. 11/10.
It is the scent of clean skin elevated to the ultimate level of luxury. It is a seemingly simple fragrance, yet one of incredible elegance... A triumph of white musks—a pristine scent that creates an aura of cleanliness and sophistication around you! Absolutely beautiful 🤍🤍🤍 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Scent: 9.5/10 Overall: 9.5/10
"hear me out" Why do people keep saying this now, but follow it by saying absolutely nothing of consequence? Or saying something very brief. That's not how to use that phrase.
Salut Mlle gorgeousness! I tested 1957 and Beige anticipating I'd find a Chanel to splurge on for no good reason, and 1957 doled out all the right reasons in spades - moderately space-filling notes that bounce off in a darling order of spirited chicness and lilting vibes of floral allura that call to my aldehydic, powdery sensibilities!
So stunning! I can’t stop wearing this. One of my all time favorites for life!
Clean aldehydic musky florals , it’s fresh with powdery woody base . It gives off clean linen vibes. Something you wear when you wear lighter colours . Very sophisticated has that chanel class and refinement. Easy to wear loved it 10/10
For a brand like Chanel, this is a soft scent, it isn't really special. You have to like musk scents to appreciate this perfume. To be honest, I'm not a fan of musk, but this one is okay.
I’m not sure whether my decant is slightly off, but as a genuine Chanel fan (especially of Les Exclusifs) this one is not for me. Yes, it is nice, sweet and powdery, classic and elegant, but there is also a very dusty paper trail running through it. It reminds me of a paper wrapper around an expensive Chanel soap: refined, yes, but a little too dry and papery for my taste. Perhaps too musky for my liking: a dusty Saharan sand and wind, mixed with sweet honey and orris. According to the notes, there is no vetiver here, but I definitely get a faint impression of it. My wallet is happy though.
hear me out, i am never a big fan of musky perfumes because they smell boring and all girls smell like that. my favorite scents are fresh, citrusy, patchoulli, rose, and you know what i mean. but this one is the first (probally last and only) musky perfume that i will ever wear. it smells so classy, fresh, clean, you can already tell based on the various comments. i am trying my best to narrow down my perfume preferences because i have too many and it's getting boring over time so i just wanna have signature scent, this and les eaux chanel-deauville are in my shortlist.
I keep seeing influencers go on and on about how beautiful Chanel 1957 smells so I was curious to test it in store. It had a powdery opening (that’s awful imo) but it dried down to a nice soapy floral that lasted for hours. I would wear this if it was gifted to me but I would never waste that much money on this one.
This is what I want to smell like when I’m a mum :) Hopefully by then I’ll have enough to buy it too lol. I would want my kids to associate this smell with me, if that makes sense! So incredibly beautiful, sophisticated and put-together scent. Slightly mature for me right now, but I will be back for it!
Chanel 1957 is one of those rare scents that demands a "skin test" to truly come alive; it needs your body heat to bloom into its full, sophisticated self. It’s fresh, feminine, and the absolute gold standard for class—a timeless creation destined to become the backdrop for your most cherished memories. What really sets it apart for me is that grounded, airy earthiness, reminiscent of a crisp breath of morning air. It’s blended so masterfully that the individual notes fade into the background, leaving only a seamless, aspirational aura. Update: An hour later, it smells of honey residue.
This was the first Chanel Exclusif that I discovered. It's an incredible fragrance, a true masterpiece. Opens with that signature Chanel aldehydes, strong clean musk comes through and finally a clean/soapy and well executed honeyed fragrance that is a true crowd pleaser comes out. I get compliments and feel like I have a nice scent bubble around me for an hour or two. It's one of the best Les Exclusifs, in my opinion, and I also have the body oil which prolongs the longevity. Silage and longevity are very good.
Clean, ethereal, soft, delicate. too elegant for my grimy self.
A very clean white musk with orange blossom and iris, I must admit I'm not a huge fan of 1957, such as it is. Musks are quite particular perfumes, as what one prefers or does not is so totally personal, but alas I can think of several musks (Jovan White, Kiehl's original, Clair de... etc.) which I vastly prefer to this. That said, I find Musc Outreblanc, by Guerlain, to be quite similar to (and, in my opinion, marginally more interesting than) 1957. 1957 is not bad by any means, but I think the blending of apparently 8 muscs has rendered the message or concept of the perfume muddled and nondistinct. It smells like clean laundry, but better detergents abound. Interesting to me that in a house known for clean soapy smells, the switch from typical aldehydes to musks crashed the Chanel ship rather promptly. A middling scent in my view, for better or worse.
Very clean, musky, aldehydic, white t-shirt or light linen clothes fragrance. It has that very specific "just showered and dressed" vibe. Classic, but a little boring to me. Similar in vibe to the Essence EDT and EDP fragrances from Narciso Rodriguez. I'll finish my sample and forget about it.
It is difficult to describe this scent: creamy, possibly musky (by the notes), simple. Since it is called foremost musky and the notes also show it so now I know how a strong musk note really smells like. Somehow it reminds me Alexandria's Bleu Oceanic but it can be that it's the strong musk that makes it similar.
Update to my review … as much as it’s pretty/classy I find it too strong for my personal taste , the opening especially and I find myself not reaching for it so need to let it go , DM me for further info ( UK )
1957 Chanel: The Ultimate "White Shirt" Fragrance If you are looking for a clean scent, this is it. 1957 is a beautiful mix of musk and aldehydes that feels polished and gentle. What makes this special is the musk, not dirty or animalic but very "clean" musk, paired with a soft floral heart and just a hint of spice. It’s an easy-to-wear, office-friendly fragrance that leans quite feminine. This scent has a very specific "look" to me: Match with: Light colors, especially white clothes. Style Tip: If you do wear dark clothes, you definitely need a white element, like a crisp white shirt, to match the vibe of this perfume. Everything about this feels high-quality and smooth. It’s a great everyday choice for someone who wants to smell refined without being loud. Rating: 7/10 (Clean, polished, and perfectly everyday.)
I do like this but the dry down (on my skin) is very similar to Kenzo Amour. Nothing wrong with that but the price difference between these two is huge. I have to keep testing 1957 in different situations, weather etc. So far it is a 'like", not a "love". Update: I like 1957 more and more. I feel like I got 5 perfumes in 1. It keeps changing all the time. I definitely get the honey note and the powdery feel (iris). It's not as musky as I thought it would be. And it's more feminine and warmer than I thought. I can smell 1957 around 10 hours on skin. I sprayed this on my shirt over 2 weeks ago and can still smell it. Two sprays is enough for me, I feel this could be a little overpowering.
Maybe this needs some heat behind it, but in the dead of winter, it sits way too close to the skin. I enjoy the smell. Its very inoffensive and the powder forward scent is blended to perfection. It also leans masculine as well which is a refreshing change to the 4 Chanels that I have recently tried. For now, I can't do any higher then 7.5 because I can't really smell it.
This is so elegant. Powdery with maybe a bit of iris. The aldehydes are not in your face, which I appreciate. Such a classy perfume.
1957 sits on my skin like a soft, warm cloud. Every time I wear it, it blends into me in a way no other perfume does.
I really enjoy this. Very soft and clean, but warm (at least on me). The aldehydes blend together with something to create a kind of... soapy tea note? It's also powdery and musky - really soft and fluffy. Really classic, but not dated - smelling clean won't ever go out of style. Somehow this ends up smelling similar to Essence In Color by Narciso Rodriguez on me. In summary, I really like this, but it's not worth it for me to buy a whole bottle of it - I have other (even very cheap) fragrances that are able to create this kind of mood for me. However, if you really miss Essence in Color from Narciso Rodriguez, I'd recommend getting a sample of this to test out. I see this being compared to Essence from Narciso Rodriguez, but I seem to remember that it felt more cold than this fragrance... and also either the EDT or EDP had a really metallic note - not sure which one of them. Nasomatto Silver Musk isn't even in the same family as 1957, IMO. Yes, it's a musk too, but it's completely different.
This is literally a white musk fragrance. White musk + aldehyde White musk + jasmine White musk + iris The definition of clean fragrance, or I would call it a “nothing” fragrance. Feels like you’re wearing no fragrance at all. Last quite a while. I got 7-8 hours of this consistently. Strange
When I was in high school in the 80s & 90s (graduated 1991). I used to wear this pure musk oil and always got so many compliments on it. I havent tried or been interested in musk fragrances since then. But I recently came across the idea of how you can be your most elegant, confident, and sexy by embodying your sign when it is in Venus. I'm Taurus, which is ruled by Venus. So when Venus is in Taurus, the venus and Taurus characteristics are magnified like crazy. And they mention that Venus in Taurus people should wear musk, white florals, and vanilla. White florals and vanillas are my go to, so I was on the hunt for a fragrance that also blended musk. And remembered I had a sample of this. Initial spray it is heavy with the Aldehydes, very soapy. But the dry down is lovely, it starts to soften, gets more powdery and the musk begins to take center stage. Sadly, I don't get much of the orange blossom or jasmine because those are two of my favorite notes. The musk really shines and then I get mostly cedar and vanilla at the finish. This is stronger than most of the other Chanel fragrances and seems to last much longer as well. I do love this and would consider a full bottle if it wasnt so expensive.
It's cyclamen I smell. Really lovely blend, musky and a low fuss spice.
I have been wanting to sample this due to reviews on YT but could not get sample so ended up with blind buy as notes seemed right for me and love most Chanel’s . Well to me the notes arnt what I expected as the opening is a tad lemony and seems sharp reminds me of Pledge furniture polish ? and I really wasn’t expecting that as my impression of notes said soft and powdery …..the dry down IS softer but I don’t find it musky really 😞. I really was disappointed BUT….i walked down my hallway and then 2 mins later went back only to think “oh something smells nice ?” realising it was me!! I also have learnt a few lessons on this NO more Blind Buys at this price point , Allow perfumes to settle after transit, and not to be too quick to dismiss . I now quite like it despite it being very different to what I hoped for , I like the fragrance after 30 mins , it has reasonable projection and lasts 3-4 hrs in me , would I repurchase ummm probably not I have more preferred high end fragrances at this price point I prefer. but it’s v.feminine and may be totally different in warmer months.
Clean. If you want to smell out -of -the -shower -fresh -linen clean, with a spark of aldehydes, this is it. A warm hug of cleanliness.
Luxury clean unisex perfume musk and Ocimum basilicum and patchouli and cardamom was ehat i smelt at the opening.
