Coco Eau de Toilette

I’ve had this my bottle stored in my closet for at least 8 yrs maybe and I have not been able to wear this. Coco Noir is my OG girl for life. But I pulled this one out to test because I don’t want to part with her and I’m more receptive to this now. Because at first sprays it was just so diy vintage bug spray to me unfortunately. Now I can smell the some of the notes not so harsh. And the dry down is more pleasant. She is strong and lasts for an EDT I will say that . I pick up cloves the strongest with this one. It’s cloves , orange blossom , amber, balsamic leather feel . It’s the best way to describe it for me . I’ll try this one in the fall/winter because this is just not the vibe in 100 + degree weather over here.

There is something about Chanel fragrances that have a strong identity and make it hard for me to detect individual notes. It just combines and smells like... A Chanel fragrance. Especially No 5. This reminds me of No 5, significantly. Aldehydes especially, though none are listed. It smells expensive, vintage, classic, and sophisticated. But also stuffy, and the dreaded description of "grandma". The older women in my family love this fragrance. So I associate it with them. It doesn't feel youthful, modern, or fresh. I am trying to smell it with an unbiased nose but struggle to enjoy it.

I think Coco is such fond fragrance memory for those in the 80's and 90's. The music, fashion, make up, and fragrances were "Statements" of who you were. I wish I could afford a bottle of the Original Coco, but I may splash out one day and pay the $30 NZD and get a 5ml (0.149 fluid ounces) decant. But I find myself being a tad annoyed, you don't know what you're buying, is it a knock off? Is their hygiene with decanting good enough? Then the price hike for a precious 5ml is a bit stiff! But one thing I do know is this fragrance is imprinted on my memory and I subconsciously compare other fragrances to it, and I'm always searching for that unique smell. It really is timeless!

The 80's distilled. I can see the shoulder pads, the giant hair & chunky jewelry. Imagine a time when everyone smoked indoors and your perfume needed to stand out. That should place you in proximity to what this fragrance bestows. Wear this in a casino or a jazz club.

I will ALWAYS associate COCO by CHANEL with special occasions! I only started wearing it within the past decade, but my "dear, dear" Mom loved it from the very start, and it seemed she "never" wore any other perfume from then on, at least when we were "blessed" enough to... BE TOGETHER! I prefer the EDT myself. Such a BEAUTIFUL "scent memory" to have!

It’s the quintessence of French chic in a lighter interpretation. The fragrance opens bright and refreshing, with citrus notes of mainly mandarin and bergamot, which give the composition lightness and freshness. This is followed by jasmine, rose and orange blossom, amplified by a touch of clove, this stage feels unmistakably Chanel. Woody notes, patchouli and vetiver form a dry, elegant base. Overall, the scent is warm and refined, yet close to the skin, with subtle projection. Longevity is around six hours. Good to use once in a while but I’m not a fan of it.

There is a lot going on with coco edt but she’s my baby, my bff, she makes me feel comforted and happy then confident and womanly, not feminine, womanly. She’s been embedded in my DNA since 1997 🧬 I wear her in all seasons. My siggy scent for a while back in the day. I’m running out of years to continue wearing signature scents but she’s still forever in my top 5 🏆

Beautiful scent, but there is something that scratches my throat.

you get the same vintage vibe with No.5 at the opening. Then it turns a perfect lady scent. It's sweet but not Coco Mademoiselle type of sweet. It's just right amount of sweetness and vintage vibes, which I adore! For my girlies who like vintage scents, yo this ones for us. And for an EDT it projects so good! Chanel you are the best of fragrance world!

Smells wonderful. After a shower, or bath, I dress and then spray this so that it sticks to my dried hair and some of my clothes. It's luxurious, glamorous, sexy, womanly. Opens with the mandarin orange and orange blossom. There's a sparkling bright citrus like champagne that mingles with a touch of green-and-white floral notes of a jasmine, a hint of rose, and definitely mimosa. These orange-yellow-gold colors of the flower really pop. The florals stay fresh. The sweetness of the florals lingers until the dry down. The dry down is amber and some vanilla. Creamy, soft, smooth, silky, feminine, classy. This perfume is just a dream come true. If you like a smooth blend of florals and vanilla plus amber in a minimalist perfume, this is for you. It has the same vibes as the EDP but in smaller doses and lasts shorter but is strong and warm, ambery floral. So beautiful for autumn and winter. A good pick me up and feel good fragrance. You can't go wrong with either the EDP or EDT.

The best thing I have ever smelled. I got an older bottle from around 2011, and it’s ridiculously good. Roses crystallized in amber. I don’t care that it’s 90 degrees out and humid, I’m wearing this every day!

For me the Coco EDT is the sexiest, sultriest version of Coco and her flankers. And, as much as I love this, I wasn't completely satisfied with this modern formulation. I wore it back during the mid 80's to early 90's, and from memory the dry down was smoother, creamier and more vanillic. Recently, curiosity got the better of me, so I caved and purchased a vintage bottle of the EDT. It is the genuine article, full bottle and in its original box. However, I'm unaware if it had always been stored in its box or left out on a vanity for display. It may have deteriorated somewhat because the juice is a very dark amber, much darker than my modern. I performed a side-by-side comparison. The vintage opening is a blast of VERY powdery bitter spices accompanied by a sour, dare I say 'cat piss' accord (the civet?) that overwhelms the citrus notes. The modern is brighter, way less powdery, and I can clearly smell the mandarin and citrus. During the dry down, the florals in the vintage hover non-descript in the background whilst the powdery spices dominate. Whereas in the modern the citrus and florals, balance the fragrance tempering the spices. In the later phase of the dry down the spices in the vintage finally tone down. And at this point, although they smell almost identical, the vintage remains powdery as opposed to the modern which is smoother and creamier. I now appreciate the modern formulation of the EDT and may have learned a lesson to stop blind buying vintage formulations from past decades because they may well have deteriorated over time, despite being well cared for, the same could be said of my memories :)

I really don't like this. And that's coming from someone who generally likes vintage styles of perfumes. It reminds me a bit of vintage Cinnabar (which i like) and Liz Taylor Passion (which I despise). The civet note really gives it a smell like a powdery diaper. It's also quite sweet and fruity which surprised me as based on the descriptions I was expecting something spicier and earthier. Unfortunately a hard pass but I am glad I got to try it. I'll revisit it in the future on the off chance my tastes have changed.

A funky potpourri, like a slightly feminine-leaning Acqua Di Gio, made to be worn by an art school student in 1987. 9.0/10

This is perfection; I usually go for the Coco EDP and mix it with No.5 (1 Spray No.5 and 2 Sprays Coco) and the result is people literally following me around asking what I am wearing, and actually buying both perfumes right on the spot (when I was working the Chanel Beauty Counter in a dept. store and also as a customer of dept. stores)! I was gifted the EDT as a birthday present, since the stores were out of the EDP. However, the Coco EDT has the longevity of an EDP and a beautiful scent trail. The EDT is purely beautiful. Coco makes me feel empowered, and like I am wearing a real perfume, not pretending I don't want to be noticed. Because honestly, I feel like I am doing a public service when I wear Coco in any form- allowing the public to experience a true perfume that is beautiful and timeless. Could easily be worn by anyone/sex/age/gender, etc. But the one rule with Coco is wear it proudly without reservation. I wanted something with tonka that's rosy, ambery, powdery and this is precisely it. I'll usually wear after a shower as it leans soapy due to that Chanel dna. It's such an easy perfume to wear and isn't linear. The opening is a burst of fizzy spicy cola. Mid is powdery rose, and dry down is all ambery vanilla. It's got strong performance for an edt and one spray per wrist is enough if you don't want to overwhelm yourself or anyone around you. I love this one so much, I wonder how the edp is.

It's beautiful, but also dense and strong for an edt. I enjoy it as a man, but it's not suitable to be worn in stuffy, warm places because then it makes me a bit nauseous. It is very dense to me, but still very beautiful. Very retro too.

Well, I smell aldehydes in here, or I'm trippin'. Softer, fuzzier ones (still soapy but YKWIM), but a modest dose nonetheless. They don't last long, and when they disappear...the wearer likely won't even note the moment of their vanishing, as the composition seamlessly moves into a more floral peak. At any rate, this fragrance is beautiful in it's oldschool glory. It smells incredibly late 80s (I can't get a straight answer as to when this was launched...and who even cares honestly). It's balsamic, ambery and smoooothly rosey. Yes, it's generously dosed with clove, but they actually are nowhere near the largest component here for me, and I'm surprised that others are praising, lamenting, and leaving as many remarks about the clove as they are. Maybe I'm more tolerant to spice...but I actually think the vanillic amber accord drives this. In fact (and this might offend some people) I think people truly inflate this fragrance to seem more challenging than it truly is. It's actually quite understandable. It's cozy, soft, somewhat unisex, and nuanced. It's just enough of everything, only modestly animalic and spicy. It just smells like a different time period...that's it. Maybe that's enough to warrant dislike, but if so, I think people are missing out by dismissing it. I cannot describe this in terms of one season (I suppose it's autumnal more than anything), but it's a fragrance for *after* midsummer in my mind. It smells like waning daylight at sunset...when the world is headed toward the darker months, yet not quite there. July evenings - October. A perfume for mild/warm weather, as sunlight begins to grow more scarce (in the northern hemisphere). Wear whatever you love, whenever...of course, but this smells so strange and incongruent to me at this point in April.

Leathery and animalic with clove aroma. Quite robust but gradually settles down. For me this is for typical occasions like "biyer bari" (bengali) meaning weddings where one chooses to dress opulently. Coco edt is like the Poison edt .. they are different yet so so similar

It’s been a long time! But she popped into my head.. reminding me of college nights and wanting to be so cool dark artsy alt/goth kinda chick (I was a mix back then in 90)! The biggest thing I have to say? This? Is the better one NOT mademoiselle! Nor even Noir! This and the coco edp. But I’ve had both, and you really don’t even need it! For an edt, this is amazing! I’m not a super floral gal, so cloves spices save me! But there’s something soo edgey about this! It’s a love and will definitely be finding some more

I have a sample of this. The scent is quite retro for my taste. As it dries down it becomes a more pleasant and elegant winter perfume, but the strong clove smell suits me better!

After wearing this the second time after visiting my first perfume shop in Cambridge and coming out dizzied by fumes and the unholy concoctions of smells plaguing the city center, I will say that the perfume is still nice in my eyes, but a bit less amazing than it was when I tested it for the first time at the Warsawa airport. It definitely stood out more to me here in the UK, as most of what I recognized on the streets were soapy fougeres, sharp ambroxan lemon bombs, and the occasional edgy oddballs like peppery roses (Toy Boy, Rose of No Man's land style) on a leather jacket wearing couple. Another worthy mention is a one-time apperance of recognizable fruity-leathery accord of Byredo Bibliotheque on a Waterstones-visiting brunette lady in a red floral summer dress. I suppose being able to pick these out in the wild really does make me a fraghead. And that's not even accounting for the candy-cotton like airy scents currentls popular among the teenagers, probably pointing to some affordable creation of Ariana or Victoria Secret. I like these, but their projection is sometimes downright frightening. My point being that Chanel COCO EDT was really a less common type scent here in the UK than what I would pick up in eastern europe, and it behaved differently too, as is common given the humidity differences, I suppose. I still don't understand how fougeres smell so good in the UK, but are kind of a whatever to me in continental Europe. Anyways, back to the topic at hand. This EDT still seems so smooth that I almost don't see it as an oriental - more like a ambery rose and orris concoction. But that's just my nose - in reality, this probably leans spicy for many folks, and I will state that this is perhaps the most harmonious usage of a strong cumin note I've experienced in a long while. While it's easy to pick out, it never seems dominant, too vintage or on the nose, pardon the pun. I really enjoy what they've done here, and I find it to be a personally worthy opponent to Coco Mademoiselle, whish I don't enjoy much as I find it to be scratchy on the nose - perhaps due to opponax, but I'm not sure. It is very similar to Coco Mademoiselle with that scratchy, semicolon-like undertone, but much smoother, while remaining less challenging, vintage or loud that the good old Coco. That being said, you have been warned - this is an EDT mostly in name, still holding on with a good projection and 8h+ of endurance. It's just a bit more quiet, smooth and ambery than most things. I still like it a lot, but it's curious that I've noticed the scratcyhness on the nose only this time around ... I wonder how our third encounter will be.😊

I smelled it on a friend and I liked it. Usually orientals is not my cup of tea at all. But this smell was intriguing. I think I smelled spices and some floral and the smell was changing all the time. Next time I will ask my friend to use it to see how it opens on my skin.

I have a 2014 bottle and its fantastic, I think a man could safely wears this , it would compliment a nice tuxedo 👌 I can pick out the realistic cloves and rose and the rich sandalwood that seems to be a relic of the past.....what a decadent luxurious scent!

The Queen of the smoky floriental ambers 🙌 Whenever I wear this stunning perfume I feel sophisticated, confident and mysterious. It’s utterly delicious without being gourmand. I want to eat my arm. Plums soused in clove studded brandy, roses and citrus, sandalwood and dark chocolate. Beautiful all year round, especially in the colder months and very long lasting for an edt! It’s a timeless classic for a reason.

i have a vintage mini bottle of the EDT. it opens with a woody peach and spices. the coriander is prominent at first. then i get opoponax, clove and rose after a bit longer. the clove becomes more prominent over time, along with amber. i do not get a lot of civet as far as i can tell. there is a bit of vanilla and tonka. overall, a soft spicy floral that is very very pretty.

Ho questo profumo in versione anni 80 sia eau se toilette che eau de parfum. Devo notare che è un po' una via di mezzo tra cinnabar e Opium, sempre nelle loro edizioni anni 80/90. Ha le note fruttate come cinnabar e quelle speziate come Opium, è solare e radioso,più floreale di Opium ma sempre molto orientale e resinoso. Cocò Chanel era veramente ricco e fastoso,quasi regale,un profumo per una serata elegante e di gran classe,per andare a teatro o a qualche evento mondano. A malincuore devi notare che oggi non esiste un solo profumo elegante,maturo e di classe,adatto a una persona non più bambina e che non sia un volgare sinteticone da bambola siliconata. Una donna sui 50/60 da sera elegante che profumo avrebbe di quelli moderni? Black Opium da adolescente? La vie est belle per intossicare tutti con la sua nauseante scia di burro e biscotti? Qualche oudh dozzinale che si sente ovunque e che non ha nessuna sensualità ma è un blocco monolitico soffocante? Oppure cosa altro? Tutte le varie copie di poison girl,libre,flowerbomb,tutte uguali? O i milioni di vaniglie tuberose delle profumerie di nicchia? Direi che se superi i 15 anni ti devi buttare a cercare i vintage classici oppure non c'è niente da fare.

i have tried it today in sephora and then directly entered another shop where the attendant told me the scent is too heavy, but it was within 15 mins i spreyed it. now 2 hours has passed . it is a deep, clean, spicy and very comfortable scent. i may buy it :) edit: wow i love love this, it has grown on me during the day. it absolutely is timeless. i will get myself one during black friday lol. or if you have a vintage bottle that you wanna get rid of, please inbox me.

The EDT is my favorite versions find it much more wearable, brighter, airier, spicier, cozy and flexible, compared to the EDP if you’re into layering fragrances I recommend using the EDT works wonderful with the modern linear scents nowadays. Long lasting leaves a beautiful trail. Fairly unisex, it’s a classic but not dated and can be manipulated by layering to make it a signature scent with added nostalgia. 10/10

It smells like grandmas, department store perfume counters, the concoction of different perfumes that linger in the air in a women's public restroom, and what I imagine when I think of the smell of perfume. I feel like it is way too spicy of a scent that I can only decipher its floral notes on top of that. However, a lot of Chanel perfumes smell very similar to me so maybe don't take my words too seriously. Anyway, it at least looks pretty on my dresser lol.
