Chloé (Parfums Chloé)

this is a heady cocktail of Flowers & Fruits at first, introduced meanwhile by a Wave of Aldehydes. Peach, Coconut & Bergamot take care for a Juicy and Fruity Opening. at once all the Flowers arrive. Honeysuckle, Hiacynth, Lilac, Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Narcissus, Carnation, Jasmine, Orris Root and Rose. I notice then a Tuberose seems to be taking lead, at other times a Narcissus, Jasmine or Rose. I even seem to detect Gardenia. it is clear this is a Rich Flower Bouquet with as well Classic as seemingly Mediterranean nuances. a quasi-Tropicality in Coconut, Ylang-Ylang, Lilac, Tuberose and Honeysuckle (if not all are Tropical Flowers specifically) land in the most Luxurious and Heart Touching perfume possible. it stays mysterious when the perfume from 1975, initially originated from Parfums Lagerfeld and concipiated by perfumer Betty Busse, went on to become a regular perfume from Chloé®. one can see on the bottle as to how it was produced. but when there are two entrees in a Perfume Database there are not much differences. Oakmoss, Amber, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Musk and Cedar ensure meanwhile that the perfume stems from other times, adding Chypre and Amber Elements to the Concoction. the Resinous, Mossy and Woody Basenotes draw the perfume into Heavy and Heady and Enticing Territory. it truly is a Bewitching perfume which hovers around you quite some time.

Because my name is Chloe, my beloved grade-school teacher gave me the sample bottle of this back in the day. I was devastated that they discontinued it, and I currently have a bottle that I paid a bit too much for on eBay to obtain in its sealed original box. I wear it nearly every day, a spray behind my ears, then a spray onto a tissue to dab on each wrist. Even at the end of the day I can still smell it, but it’s not overpowering. Nothing else makes me feel more effortlessly classy, chic, and confident. It doesn’t trigger my migraines and I always get compliments. A perfect fragrance!

Powdery, honeyed white florals. I don't get peach, but equally the peach note hasn't gone weird or artificial on me like it does in Sun Moon Stars. It's nice, and feels appropriate on this spring day. The powdery "clean skin"-like aspect reminds me of Dune somewhat - I would say that Chloé is a stronger, more floral version of Dune. A hug from a great-aunt rather than a hug from a mother.

Smells like a funeral all is fault of that undeclared lily note. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

Chloé is a complex, aldehydic multifloral. Popular wisdom says tuberose takes the lead, but with so many different flowers in this chorus, no single floral note is delivered in its pure form. Personally, I also sense much ylang-ylang, ...and gardenia, which isn't even listed. Some have also ascribed a buttery note to Chloé, ... and I must say, I do get that sensation. I suspect it is a phantom artifact of the white florals, milky peach accord, & aldehydes all together. There is no denying there is a sense of timeless luxury about this. A classical golden elixir hardly encountered anymore. If one has access to this, wear it often. Empty the bottle; life is too short. I also love that intriguing cap on the vintage bottle. I believe the official description declares t to be a pair of (scentless) calla lilies, ...but frankly (and randomly), that sculpting reminds me more of some kind of ascomycete fungi one might encounter on a forest floor. I'll just double-post this on the Lagerfeld version too.

She's complex, timeless. Gorgeous complicated multifaceted gem. She's a woman of femininity and elegance but also out of traditional lines of beauty, way ahead of her times.

This was such a heartbreak when I found it is discontinued :(. It was my signature scent and I can’t even find something even similar to this masterpiece. Now it’s just on EBay either very expensive or old. Such a shame to see this one go…

Opens very sharp and slightly rubbery, about an hour turns into a very luxurious floral soap. Lasts days on skin, weeks on clothes, forever on paper strips.

All time classic and one of my favourites. Smoky but also floral. Light and fresh. An interesting mixture of scents that can't let you indifferent.

princess buttercup's perfume, i imagine. so lovely. the drydown is my favorite kind of soapy. i have a very old vintage miniature and it's starting to go bad, unfortunately :( oh how i would have loved to smell this when it was brand new

just gorgeous, for young women upwards. my first perfume, when I was around 14, and I still love it in my 20s. sweet and warm but not excessively musky. makes me feel confident and beautiful.

Oh this was an absolute beauty. I used to wear it when I was 16 and it was my absolute favourite. It was my signature scent. I loved it so much it left a mark on my life and I named my darling dog after it. Chloé. They dont make perfumes such as Chloé anymore. I dont know why. If I ever find a bottle again I will buy it, of course. So much class. So sultry, feminine, round and organic. A love lost.

My mom gave me her little bottle of Chloé when I was little and I'm on a nostalgia bender, so I purchased a sample vial. While I love so many of the notes listed here (Honeysuckle, Hyacinth, Lilac, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Bergamot, Coconut, Rose...), this didn't smell like what I remembered and I just wasn't impressed or intrigued by it. For some reason, in my mind, it was almost a cola smell mixed with florals. Which I guess might sound disgusting, lol, but it's in the recesses of my brain as sweet, feminine, pretty... This was underwhelming.

My mom's signature scent. Pity they discontinued it. But I find Fracas to be very similar and a good alternative. When I tried Fracas for the first time I immediately associated it with Chloe and my mom. A quick notes check confirmed that there are in fact a lot of common notes.

You know it took me practically my whole life to appreciate this perfume until its discontinued and unscrupulous sellers on ebay are selling the occasional bottle for a mortgage on a house that l suddenly love it! I have 30mls of a 90ml bottle remaining and I'm just having to use it sparingly and I'm not a 1 or 2 measly sprays type of woman but l know once this is gone its gone from my life forever so I'm holding on for dear life. I wore this to work one day sprayed liberally of course as l didnt want to waste my more expensive special ones for work, and oh my gosh for the first time it struck me, what's that amazing clean powdery but soapy fresh and classy smell? I thought it was someone else wearing something great and after sniffing myself realised it was me!! I'm not going to bore on about each note you can see what's in it on here above but this stuff is- just got out of a huge marble bubble bath, having used obscenely expensive French soap and powdered yourself in something wonderful and soft, and perfumed yourself with something gorgeous and expensive, and putting on a soft white cashmere jumper and all the fragrances are mingling into this amazing scent. Oh my gosh why didn't l buy 5 bottles when l saw it on sale for £21 and bought this as a cheap and cheerful wear to preserve the time l have left with my expensive ones? I'm so upset l wasted it. 😞 😢 😭 Finding a bottle of this now is equivalent to finding the holy grail it's near enough impossible. Funny story when l was a little girl of about 5years old l would sneak a little use of my mummy's expensive grown up lady perfumes. She had all the Diors and Chanels and Estee Lauders and l would put on her perfume & her pearls and bracelets & fox fur coat and high heels and Dior makeup, and pretend to be a fancy lady going out to dinner. One time she had an enormous bottle of Chloe and it wasn't a spray it was about 200mls and full and it had a big fancy clouded glass decorative sculpture stopper in it. Of course l dropped it and 80% spilled out all over the carpet. In panic mode because l knew l wasn't supposed to be messing with her things l filled the rest of the bottle of perfume up with water and it all went white and cloudy. I heard her coming upstairs and put it back on the dressing table and went and hid. 😆 Well needless to say l heard her screaming for me then, and that was one of the biggest hidings l ever got in my childhood! Its been referred to ever since as the Chloe beating! We laugh about it now, l deserved it. (Relax everyone it was 1980 a time when even the neighbours and friends of the family were allowed to beat you if they saw you misbehaving outside and your parents were grateful to them for doing it, and then they would beat you for giving someone else cause to do it!) 😆🤣 Anyway love this perfume even though its lure got me in a lot of trouble once. I give this a 7.5/10

I am literally heartbroken that they have stopped making Chloe. I have worn her for forty years since I was sweet sixteen. I still have a little left in a bottle, and I'm torn between using it up or keeping it as the scent disintegrates away from it's exotic headiness. I am searching for a new love but I know from experience that there is no love like the love of one's youth.

I just found a vintage EDT bottle from mid 90's, with very little left in it. The juice is dark in color, there is no writing on the bottle and on the bottom, it says that it was made in the USA. I don't know what I have, is it the original version from the 70's which was still made in the 90's, or was there a reformulation in the 90's? I remember (not very proudly) that at the time, I used to buy frags that had gifts with purchase (large duffle/weekend/tote bags, makeup bags, miniature perfumes or matching soap/body lotion/shower gel), and it was mostly scents that I didn't like. Chloe was one of them so I gave it to my mom, she liked and used it. I don't remember how it used to smell back in the day but I imagine that the juice turned. It smells harsh, strong and vintage, more like my Magie Noir from '91 or Rumba by Ted Lapidus (I don't have the original Balenciaga). No fruit, coconut or anything juicy in this scent.

Absolute vintage classic that I wore and adored! It was a strong, heady, honeyed soap. So mature smelling. Made me feel very grown up.

This is second bottle of perfume I ever owned. I looved it! I still have a little left.. and honestly I wish I could buy it fresh again. I don't love the scent as much now that my bottle has aged. I feel like it has evolved into a thick jammy sweetness, and gives me a bit of a headache to wear it. I don't know which batch year, but I was gifted mine sometime between 2010-2012.

Chloe, classic Chloe, used to be a soapy tuberose chypre, floral and green. My aunt wore this in the mid 1970's. After she visited I would go smell the sofa cushions where she sat because Chloe wafted from them. The new version is cheaper but still recognizable. Even cheapened, Chloe is better than most new perfumes out there. I don't dislike modern perfumes. I just prefer structure and complexity typical of older fragrances. Once upon a time women wore beautiful, interesting, layered scents to present themselves as polished, chic, and stylish. Older perfumes just do more. Sometimes I like that. And it's great to return to scents that are NOT influenced by La Vie Est Belle, Coco Mademoiselle, Baccarat Rouge 540, Angel, or Poison. Like listening to seventies music before auto tune and drum machines. Sometimes I like that.

Back in time perfumes used to smell like perfume. Chloe is a fantastic green, fresh, sweet, soapy tuberose bomb. A little goes a long way... I am smelling my wrists like an addict.

I have wanted to try Chloé for a long time, it being an oft-recommended vintage gem. I have a vintage miniature of Chloé, complete with lily-shaped lid, and the bright amber liquid is just as good as I'd hoped. It is quite similar to Balenciaga Michelle, an underrated 1970s floral that I reviewed recently, but Chloé is headier and less fresh up top, and more soapy overall. Chloé opens with sweet, juicy peach, followed by sweet, heady florals. I get a lot of orange blossom, and sweet ylang ylang follows, lush and tropical. Coconut enhances the tropical creaminess. The aldehydes here are more soapy than bright, so much so that Chloé doesn't feel like an aldehydic floral scent in the manner of No. 5/Arpège etc., it feels more like a floriental with chypre facets. As in Michelle, Poison-like tuberose features prominently as the floral heart emerges, lasting until the drydown. Powdery rose joins it, rounded out by clean jasmine, and some iris follows. Clove-like carnation adds spice. Narcissus leads the drydown, polleny and grassy, and a lovely chypre-like mossiness emerges. Soft woody notes round it out, but it is mostly rich, sweet amber that makes up the base. It becomes musky as it fades, sweetly balsamic until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. A huge yet cleverly balanced amber floral, this is complex yet cohesive. Evocative of its era, but still wearable today, it is extroverted femininity in a bottle. To be worn with confidence. 4/5.
