This fragrance strikes me as sharp, in your face but unique blend and not in a weird way. In typical Clive Christian fashion, this is unlike anything I’ve ever put my nose on. Not for me. If I could describe this in one word, I would say “sharp”… and rough edges

This one is a special one from CC. The rhubarb really comes out nicely as well as the cinnamon and woodiness. Very captivating and beautiful.

I went into this expecting to be disappointed. I always found the whole "Clive Christian" brand as a whole along with the fake heritage thing to be extremely tacky and corny. That said, I recently sampled the modern formulation of X for men and was honestly beyond surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I didn't think much after spraying it initially, but once I left the department store I found my nose glued to my wrist the entirety of the day, borderline addicting. I found myself craving the fragrance daily for the past few weeks. One of the most elegant spicy cardamom fragrances, I've ever laid my nose on. Utter brilliance. I had the privilege of getting my hands on a pre reformulation 30ml bottle which still utilizes oakmoss extract amongst other things, and my God its everything the original gives and more. If you have the chance of smelling the old formulation please do so! Amazing work by a brilliant perfumer, Geza Schoen. My rating: 9/10

I squeezed it onto my wrist and had to wash it off. I had it amk , it smelled like anchovies coated in cornmeal, it made me extremely nauseous.

Thee Clive C hidden gem, this is what one remembers when one forgets everything else. True soul home bringer, theme and character, like they did the premium for the premium. Part lavish, part all times imaginable historic legendary? But with the 100/100 not the 50/50 to it.

Totally can be pulled of by a girl btw. If there ever was a perfume that got close to being my signature scent, this is it. 5 bottles at least and counting. Never boring despite being so well balanced, true year rounder, but demanding a certain demeanour of yourself, pushing you onto spending sprees and fine dining outings. Apply generously for a good clubbing perfume. Not an old man’s perfume necessarily. Very universally appreciated. Epitome pepper perfume, as if you were burying your nose in a fine blend of pink, black, green and white peppercorns. Very tender and subversive scent. Very dearly held in my regard to even consider the offered twists on it. This is a meticulously mixed, historically significant juice. It comes to be a part of you so easily, it’s serious when you are, playful likewise, domestic at the downtime and social through the day and night. Majestic in the summer evenings, perhaps too light to be a daily via winters. You’ll be sniffing on the cap at every occasion and run through the millilitres fast - generous sprayer will assure of that. A dignified match to the furniture of CC.

Dreary day or endless night, this smells good. Manly. Decided for him. For the guy exuding confidence, this is for you. This is another one of those scents I think the Dos Equis guy smells like. Spicy very cinnamon heavy I get hints of anise not up top but in the background and a lot of woods, dark woods..not a summer scent. And something about it makes it just not for me. And yet I still give it a 4.2/5 because its good well made lasts and projects just not crazy about its. profile.

Following up I originally said X had a Father John medicine like smell in the opening, but I loved the woody spicy drydown. After some time with it I can still smell what I initially perceived as medicine which seems to have lessened. Plus I was mistakenly burying my nose in it. Let this come to you in the air, as the projection is very good and.. ahh! I said X could possibly be a love...and it's become exactly that. I had Blonde Amber and 1872 but decided to kept X because I found it the most unique and unsual of the three. I sampled more from the CC line recently, and many of them smelled good. It helped me see just how different this is. X marks the spot for me. It has that timeless class type feel I usually go for in a fragrance without smelling like a variation of something I already own or have smelled before. So glad I kept this.

My goodness this has to b the best signature scent i have come accros i love this house xlive christian have some really good fragrance this should b i my top 5 list , i am trying to layer this with feminine version as suggested by someone in following comments because i like feminine x by itself alone so hopefully it works really well 10/10

Luxury in a bottle this one is not strong as other but it stays around whole day easily 10/10 fragrance, unique and everyday wear worthy may b it will become my signature scent

Okayy after testing this for one week i can tell this could b a signature scent worthy fragrance its not strong as other clive christians but it stays around you best way to increase longevity is layer with feminine version it becomes strong and even more beutifull

Layer this with other clive christian fragrance and see the magic its beauty on its own as well, verry underrated from the brand why no one is talking about this or no one talk about amberwood always blond amber which is very average in my opinion

I don’t have a “signature scent” as I love wearing different fragrances each day. However if I did have to choose one. This might be top of the list! I adore this. I don’t believe this to be “mature” leaning as some people say. I am 30, and it works for me perfectly. Seriously lads……grab this one! At least sample it!! It’s so so so good. So luxurious

Shines in cold temperatures, ideal for winter evenings where its warmth and depth truly unfold.

I personally really like it but in my experience at 26 years old I was told by 2 women that i smelled like a grandpa. They were around my age. I had an older women say I smelled very good. I guess it’s just subjective but I do understand why they said that cause it does have that old money vibe to it.

I tried it twice during last two weeks and it reminds me of TOM FORD EXTREME. Am I right ?? 🤔

Too much to say about this fragrance without ranting on. I can understand the “outdated” comments, but to me this is such a breath of fresh air. Firstly, I believe the notes are wrong, the official CC website has the real notes so I hope it gets updated here soon. This opens up with pure, masculine, refined spice. The top notes blast you with Cardamom, but a raw, rich Cardamom unlike any I’ve smelt. The pink pepper adds a nice kick, but the hint of cinnamon warms it up. The middle of orris adds a buttery smoothness to the body, and the earthy base with moss and vetiver give that grounded masculine feel. Many don’t detect the slight vanilla note, but it is there for me, just a tiny bit of sweetness to round it off. This is one of the most masculine, gentlemanly scents I’ve smelled. So well made and has such a unique composition I’ve yet to smell a whole lot like it. The performance is good, just above average and doesn’t scream, it lingers and gives a friendly handshake, which is good for this kind of profile. This is for a specific kind of person, but those who appreciate it have really good taste.

Clive Christian X Masculine is almost as old as I am, yet somehow it still feels modern to use because of unique it is. It is a spicy-woody-earthy chypre that opens up with a spicy-fruity rhubarb. It has an emphasis on the cinnamon and cedar that further intensifies the spiciness while making it more woody at the same time, and I also think it has some earthy facets that adds depth to the scent. This DNA is not overused in the world of fragrances + it is so elegant. I really love it. It also performs extremely well, and despite how heavy it sounds, I'd wear it in any occasion (including in the middle of a hot sunny day). This has been on my wishlist for around half a decade now, so I'm glad that I saw a really good deal for this one. I was already super impressed when I sprayed a vial bottle of this fragrance that I got as a gift back in the early days of covid, and I just said to myself that I WILL get this fragrance someday. And this fragrance just gets even better now. I wouldn't get it at its full retail price though (but that's also the case for all fragrances out there).

Clive Christian X is a beast mode modern chypre with dominant sweet rhubarb note from beginning to the end, which make it somehow linear to my nose, so it’s a pass for me at this price

Just got this one and im super happy with it. It smells like a polished and refined version of Cartier Declaration, with a lot of the same spice notes, just less linear. It has excellent sillage and projects far enough to be noticed without being offensive. Not screaming but announcing its presence firmly. The paprika and cinnamon are the front runners opening it with a bit of sharp warmth, but the orris and cedar show up after a half hour or so and soften that edge. This fragrance feels classy and comfortable. Just as at home in a three piece suit as a hoodie and jeans. It leans a little more mature but could definitely be pulled off by a younger guy with the right amount of confidence. Very much a gentleman's scent. The references in other reviews to a spice shop are spot on, it smells almost edible and exotic. I wouldnt say its a safe blind buy unless you are into spicier wood scents, but I dont see it disappointing too many people. The presentation is a whole other animal. It ships in a black box with gold trimmings and a magnetic closure. Nestled inside the padding of the box is a pamphlet that describes the vision and heritage of the brand. The bottle is heavy and sleek. The gold crown cap is embellished with ornate details. The atomizer performs well and doesn't leave you needing multiple sprays to get the coverage you need. It looks, feels, and smells opulent and expensive. I will likely always keep a bottle of this in my repertoire for chilly evenings and date nights! 10/10

It's nice, and seems to be an excellent performer. However at the same time it's quite a piercing smell, one I could see myself becoming sick of fairly quickly.

The exact smell you will get when you visit a shop that dedicatedly sell spices only.Indian Subcontinent people will understand better.Here the ingredients of this perfume is top notch and thats why it produces a photorealistic spice shop smell.If you love the smell of spices,you will love it.

Finally added my Holy Grail, the one!! X was a very different experience on first sniff - it is oldworldy yet modern, smoky yet fresh & highly complex !! You know when you have expensive taste, every time one picks up a thing deep down a voice cries this is gonna be a bank !! X was exactly that - the first time I nosed it was around 2022 knowing fully well that CC is positioned a bit too niche - however in the exploration I was least expecting to be stung (in the best way possible)!! To my nose the chilly / spicy paprika aspect from the top notes along with the rhubab from mid opens this like none other - as mentioned this is high class perfumery & hence highly complex - multi faceted at that. Following that usually I get a little powdery aspects which seem to be iris but is balanced by soapy heady jasmine with a semi sweet undertone - balance is another highlight of CC complexity. Deep down under I sense mostly oakmoss (old school style) with woody undertones but the top bits come & go -!! & to sum it this magic is what drew me in the first time & the same one draws me in everytime!! To conclude this to my nose speaks volumes of good crafty perfumery - the use of 170 odd high quality ingredients show - scent trail & longevity are class perfect. Absolute gem & investment worthy also unique. 11/10
