Erolfa

Maybe I got a mislabeled or counterfeit sample, unlikely given the reliability of 75+ other samples. This is women’s perfume. It’s not masculine at all. WTF kind of man thinks this is masculine. The opening is so feminine I had to wash it off. I gave it to my lady, she loves it. I asked her not to spray it when she’s with me.

Wow. This smells beautiful. Scents like this are what built Creed. I wish they would make more like this again. On one hand, it's a basic albeit well blended fragrance reminiscent of a high end soap, like Parfums de Marly Sedley. I am surprised I do not see tea leaves and eucalyptus in the note breakdown. There is that same tea note from imagination present here. On the other hand, to me, this is a masterpiece of olfactory art. Immediately, I have to say that Creed Erolfa smells to me like what I can only describe as "the uniquely-human bonds formed through shared experience and common ground, a sense of kinship and brotherhood, and love for the fellow human (in the John Lennon sort of way)" it just lends itself to projecting happy memories of those you love and of what is truly important in life onto it. It's so easy to wear too. Not challenging at all. It just smells good to almost everyone, even those who are not as artistically minded or those who do not understand the medium of perfumery as an outlet for artistic expression. Like I said, it really does objectively kind of just smell like a high end soap... But at least to me it is so much more than that It's very rare that I give a fragrance a perfect 10. I am going to give this a perfect 10, for me. YSL Y is a manufactured pop/r&b song on the top 50 hits list, then this is a soulful ballad written and sang by a singer songwriter that was created through pure passion, then eventually released. The kind that they may miss some lyrics with when performing live because of all of the emotion it brings up. This speaks to my soul in a way that only one other fragrance has, which would be Amouage Beach Hut Man.

A refreshing body wash, nothing special. Just smells like any other designer.

Heavy on ambergris and so very marine and salty. Closest thing to it would be Millésime Impérial, but this one is less sweet/floral and more fresh oceanic. Smells like a realistic ocean breeze, not my kind of thing but great perfumery.

Checking out a few fragrances from the legendary House of Creed, starting with Erolfa, which has a pretty neat story behind the name. ER stands for Erwin Creed, the only son of Olivier Creed and the seventh generation of the Creed family. OL stands for Olivia, Mr. Creed’s daughter and a talented visual artist who works with the company. FA stands for Fabienne, Erwin and Olivia’s mother. The opening is a big hit of lemon and lime citrus mixed with ginger. It creates a crisp citrus punch with a slightly sweet woody undertone. I also pick up a touch of herbal freshness from the basil, which gives the opening a slightly peppery edge. At first, I thought it could have been a little minty or something sharper, but it’s really just that extra bite that makes the opening more interesting. After about only 10–15 minutes, Erolfa transitions into the mid. On my skin, the citrus moves away from that sour, zesty style and becomes sweeter, with notes of melon and a touch of cucumber creating that light, watery fruitiness. This is where I can understand the comparisons to Creed’s Millésime Impérial because they share that airy, slightly marine freshness. There is also a soft sweetness with a powdery touch from floral notes, with violet being the main one. After around an hour to an hour and a half, the fragrance settles into the base. You get airy, sweet, slightly salty marine fruits with cedar and musk adding a clean woody foundation. It still shares some similarities with Millésime Impérial, but Erolfa still has its own identity. There really isn’t much more to say about Erolfa other than I’m a fan. Like many Creed fragrances, the price is high and the performance could leave some people wanting more, but this is one where I don’t really mind. Not everyone wants a fragrance that fills up a room, and the lighter nature of Erolfa makes it very versatile while still keeping a masculine feel. This was actually the first expensive fragrance I bought for myself before discounters were really a thing, and I would still consider it one of my signature scents. It’s a great release from Creed that continues to hold its own almost 35 years later.

Gem. This speaks to me like no other Creed. The scent is familiar, yet distinct and original. Citrusy, salty, marine and aromatic. Well-balanced cocktail of notes. This is right in the middle between GIT green aspects and MI marine saltiness. Not as striking as MI, but more mature. A gentleman's choice for spring and summer. Unless you really love it and don't find a great deal, the price is unjustifiable like with any other Creed.

When I first smelled this I really did not like the smell. The second time I sprayed it, it became one of my favorite smells. Smells like a weekend on a yacht in the bahamas. really pleasant and rich.

Most detectable notes for me: Lemon, Lime, Melon, Violet, Sandalwood & Ambergris Review: Essentially a halfway house between Green Irish Tweed and Millesime Imperial. It carries the floral elements from GIT as well as the Sandalwood base but also the fruitiness and saltiness of MI. As beautiful as Millesime is, I tend to find it too sweet as it takes the fruitiness too far, but Erolfa dials this back beautifully and marries it with the clean laundry vibe of GIT. This is without a doubt Creed’s most underrated fragrance. Season: Spring/Summer/Early Autumn Use: Suited to warm days by the coast. This would be my go to choice for summer formal events.

smells like dried piss

This is only a summer scent. I really like it. It is very very tropical. Only a June-August HOT summer days scent.

Erolfa is the antithesis of the modern, loud, sugary aquatic. It is dry, salty, sophisticated, and uncompromisingly masculine. It carries a distinct, late-20th-century sophistication while remaining entirely timeless. It pairs impeccably with a crisp white linen shirt, tailored shorts, and boat shoes, serving as the ultimate olfactory accompaniment to clear skies and open water.

The sad news of Olivier Creed’s passing made me return to Erolfa, once one of my favorite Creeds. And honestly, it still feels beautiful. Erolfa has that effortless old-school Creed elegance: bright lime and bergamot at the opening, a soft green-marine freshness, a touch of melon, herbs and salty air. Then it becomes smoother, more skin-like, with ambergris, musk, sandalwood and a gentle mossy depth. It smells like a clean white shirt after a day by the sea: refined, relaxed, quietly expensive. Not loud, not trying too hard, just incredibly well balanced. For me, Erolfa is still one of Creed’s most graceful summer fragrances. 9/10

In a community full of people that act like pantomimes; trying to chase of what's the new "in" or "hot" thing right now, debating on what's the best oud & rose combo release of the month, or of them trying to excuse themselves of why they pay premium price tags ($300+) for "niche artisanal scents with luxurious raw materials" for products of the likes Anomalia, Le Labo or MARC ANTOINE BARROIS that mostly consists harsh aromachemicals, fantasy notes or basically 3-4 synthetic notes and promoting their product as "minimalist approach"; classic scent profiles such as Erolfa are basically fighting the establishment, and they are there to remind you that in the end of the day.. less is more, and that luxury is quiet. Erolfa is genius made by one. Pierre Bourdon tried to fuse his mastery of his revolutionary for the time aquatic style, with the dirty edge signature of his predecessor and master E. Roudnitska. The reference to Eau D'Hermès in this is clear but subtle, no wonder since Bourdon wanted to create an honorable homage to it since his first steps into being in Grasse's perfumery school. Before I say what I think about the scent I want to disclaim that yes; I am a bit biased and the reason is that Bourdon is my favorite perfumer. I've been collecting for more than 20 years.. way before the youtube/tiktok craze was even about to start.. I always remember that I never liked aquatics or marines.. looking back at my collection I may find 2 or 3 of them at best.. I always hated this specific scent profile with passion, and the reason is that I found them dull, repetitive & uninspired.. ADG, Miyake's L’eau d’Issey, CK one.. you name it.. in my mind I was better off not spraying anything on me than spraying something like that. The paradox of the matter is that since I bought Erolfa it's been my signature scent for 3 years now.. if anybody would have told me that I'd wear an aquatic as my signature I'd tell him that he's a mad man.. well here we are. The scent is alluring, spiking, nose tickling, aquatic, fresh & complex.. it grabs you from the nose and it makes you chase it.. it's one of those that you need a bottle for you to appreciate, because 2ml samples wont make you understand the greatness in this.. you need to live with it to truly understand it. misc info: since I liked it so much, I tried to get my hands on an old bottle (blue plastic cap, clear bottle), well the "big" difference is the ambergris.. but that's about it.. I can definitely say that the current formulation is great, and it doesn't have many things to be jealous of the old one.

I really like this one personally. I have fair complexion and the fresh and light scents tend to wear best on me. For casual summer outings or the office, its a safe marine scent. Part of the attraction could have been a familiarity I found in the scent that I didnt immediately place, but it hit me when I put it on the other day. This is Millisime Imperial without the fruity notes. Its as if Creed had Erolfa, added some watermelon and fruity elements, put it in a gold bottle rather than a clear bottle and rebranded it. Still like them both but the realization has diminished my love for Erolfa a bit as its lost some if its uniqueness. Be warned, this is NOT complex or challenging or anything revolutionary. It really is a linear and lacks depth, but sometimes the simple scents are the ones that stick. Smells calm, comfortable, like a lazy day strolling the marina.

Beautiful opening but falls apart quickly into a very boring white musk. Not really recommended

Creed #7 - What was the point? In my review of Himalaya i asked myself if it was a fragrance that rehashed some of what Silver Mountain Water already delivered. In truth, it was a theoretical question based on preconceived ideeas, before i actually got to smell the perfume. Now, smelling Erolfa, i ask myself what was the point in creating Millesime Imperial only three years later when this one exists? The difference is, this time the question isn’t “preloaded” or prejudgemental but justified in my mind. To be honest im cheating a bit because i haven’t actually smelt Millesime Imperial, only a clone of it, Armaf Milestone. Before anyone shouts at me for comparing two perfumes without having smelt one of them, lets be honest for a quick second. Whilst smelling a clone isn’t one hundred percent the same thing as smelling the original, lets not pretend that it doesn’t give you a very good ideea on the scentprofile and the accords it employs. In my opinion, the Millesime Imperial DNA uses the same elements and framework as Erolfa. Its the same kind of tropical-salty, sea-breezy melon fragrance with not enough difference in vibe and nature to warrant a completely separate release. Keep in mind that since i no longer have my sample of Milestone, im talking from memory, but what strikes me with Erolfa is a more vintage style compared to the Armaf. Where the Armaf was more fruity and somewhat more modern, Erolfa harkens back to an older style of perfumery through the use of sharp herbal elements. The nosetingling salty aspect of the two perfumes isn’t exactly to my taste and Erolfa takes it a step further and amplifies it with the green sharpness. Its not that i hate this sharp green saltyness, it is invigorating i’ll give it that, but its not my style. There’s an “off” note in the opening phase and it might be the calone acting up and going “fishy” but it goes away shortly. Overall, it feels more masculine then Milestone/Millesime, but once again im talking from memory. If Creed wanted to “update” or modernise the scent DNA, why not simply reformulate it? Altho, can we even talk about modernisation or reformulation when Millesime Imperial came out only 3 years after Erolfa? Its a weird situation to me and perhaps Millesime Imperial wasn’t even supposed to be a modernisation but a proto-flanker before flankers were so prevalent. If i judge Erolfa strictly by itself, its a nice scent but i don’t see the Creed price warranted. This is one of those scentprofiles that could be found for cheaper because its not far from a classic barbershop astringent fragrance. The tropical salty-sea-breeze nouance makes it standout from regular barbershops but im not sure if thats worth the price. Infact, the saltyness kinda robs the composition of the high quality smoothness Creed perfumes are characterised by. Taking my personal preference in consideration, both Himalaya and Silver Mountain Water are better smelling fragrances. I wish i had a sample of Millesime Imperial to directly compare them, or atleast the Armaf sample. As it is, i don’t rule out the fact that there are differences between them and my memory serves me wrong. Still, i suspect that the differences are unimpactful and i cannot help but scratch my head at the creative direction Creed had at the times when the two perfumes were released.

There is a common thing i dislike in it and MI. If you dislike one, you will dislike the other.

I had worn a sample of Erolfa previously and received some compliments from both men and women. I really enjoyed the freshness of it and the woody ambergris base that is prevalent in other fragrances from Creed like GIT, so I bought a 100ml for spring/summer. After the weather warmed up this past week, I decided to try this on. Here’s a few anecdotes and notes.. - I knew longevity would be an issue. I bought it anyway. - I first sprayed it once on the top of my hand prior to bedtime. My wife immediately made the comment that it smelled ‘like toilet cleaner’. (Note: EVERY fresh fragrance with citrus notes smells like that with her. This is nothing new.) Upon waking the next day, I sniffed where I sprayed and there was nothing. Not a trace. This concerned me. Erolfa is not cheap. - The first day that I wore it, I applied six sprays twice. I could not detect any scent bubble around me after 3.5 hours. - I wore it to work over the week. One of my coworkers, a woman, who always comments on what I am wearing said nothing. I never asked her what she thought of it. Another female that I work with who enjoys fragrance said that she could smell it and, after mentioning my wife’s previous comment, said that while it smells like I got out of the shower and that she liked it, she could see why my wife made the toilet cleaner comment. This seemed to be a diplomatic answer. With all this aside I can say that, even with the longevity and the sillage deficiencies, I really enjoy this. I’m 54 years-old and, after being suckered into making multiple unisex fragrance purchases which lean more feminine to me, I want more masculine, less sweetened fragrances. I don’t want to be a walking popsicle. Leather-based and deep animalics, though I enjoy them, will cause arguments in my house, so I must stick to woody and fresh. I find myself leaning more toward vintage fragrances, because to me, this is what men used to smell like. Call me old school! - I like the musk of the melon! Citrusy too! -I love the ambergris accord in the drydown. It’s manly. - A wee hint of pissiness, but again this is manly. -Cumin is there. Not jumping out, but just a hint of funk. -Sandalwood/soft musk/ salty ambergris are reminiscent of Green Irish Tweed. -Day and warm afternoon fragrance. - Work/home/ out and about Epilogue- Work was finished yesterday, so I headed to the store for a quick shop. I sprayed on Erolfa in the car, shopped, and then headed home. As I was unlocking the door and stepping through the threshold, our little dachshund Ellie surprised me, excitedly dashing in behind me from the yard to welcome me home. My wife followed suit. My wife said that the dog could smell me from around the corner and knew that I was home. And then she said, “You smell great! What are you wearing?” ;)

These is the greatest fragrance of all time you can wear it up and wear it down it smells like a billion dollars, it’s a compliment magnet. It will forever be my signature scent

Need a different sample. No way it’s this poor in performance. Just nothing here after 10 minutes. Light citrus then nothing.

HOLY HELL ! I have been buying fragrances for 35 years and this has to be THE WORST performing fragrance I have ever tried. I swear to god I marked the time I sprayed this after my shower at the end of the day. I sprayed 8 sprays and 90 minutes later I could not even smell it on my hand wear I sprayed it and it was a faint scent on my shirt. Now add to this the fact that it literally smells like a $50 Burberry fragrance from the early 2000s and this is a BIG NO for me! What truly upsetting is that when I smelled this on a strip at Saks it smelled rich and like a classic fougere. On skin its a joke and smell like Mr Burberry mixed with Burberry Brit

I really like how this fragrance starts off with a well rounded interesting bouquet. I think the pine gives a nice soapy accent to the fruits. It evokes pleasant thoughts of summer holidays in Greece for me. The performance is unfortunatly a bit dissapointing.

Don't believe the negative reviews below, this is a fresher and less fruity version of millesime imperial. So if you like millesime imperial this is basically the same just fresher and more mature without the overload of fruits. This is still fruity so don't get me wrong, just less sweet and less fruity. I do think this is better than millesime imperial and the ladies at the creed boutique selling it agreed when I asked them which they prefer side by side

Clean toilet type smell but dries down to a better unique fresh citrus smell. Not my favorite but I can see why others like it. Performance not good for me especially for price.

Orange, Lemon with a touch of saltiness and slight musky/oak moss dry down. Think Millisime imperial and LV afternoon swim - this sits somewhere in between. Solid summer/spring daytime scent and puts me in a happy place of being near the water sipping margaritas with a cool breeze. There is something magical and alluring about this and it’s currently one of my favourite Creeds right up there with Absolu Aventus. Tried to understand the “pissy” smell some others have mentioned but imo it’s not pissy, but more a salty ambergris smell. I reach for this more than most of my other freshies. Solid 9.5/10

God, I miss these old school classy Chypres and Fougeres.

To anyone and everyone claiming any piss smell from this. Check your pants, I suspect there may be a wet stain that will solve the mystery. FFS.
