Royal Water

This opens with bright lemony citrus that is beautiful and natural. As it settles it become a unique wood and musk scent that is elegant and unique. I love it.

You can call it contemporary barbershop or old school tonic. Very fresh, clean, peppermint scented. Creed does good things with ambergri. Light cumin in mid and dry down further signifies Creed quality.

You'll know why this has been around since 1997. I am so disgusted by freshie perfumes that dupe brands make. The BLAST of lemons and bergamot with some other contrasting accords to go with it. This does the same, but it's calculated. It makes sense together. This is not a perfume on steroids. And I am not even going to talk about its performance. This is just a fine perfume. Does not try to be loud. It's respectable. And it's made for someone with similar attributes. So wear your loud dupes at skanky clubs along 4 other dudes trying to out-perfume you. Leave this for another time. A better time.

Underrated hidden Creed gem. You know how some scents envelop you with a radiant satisfactory smell bubble, that you start to call them "easy reach"? This is one of them. For me, "easy reach" is not a description I toss around lightly. It's also a title I find hard to describe hence I can't really justify the reasoning behind giving it. And this is exactly why I love the notion of it. The scent basically calls my name and I'm there to oblige. Royal Water starts on my skin with an invigorating splash of Bergamot and Lemon, joined quickly afterwards by a dab of Mandarin. Without the Mandarin, those top notes can definitely smell "old school". So, the shocking team-joining of the Mandarin is a truly nice touch! See, it's all about the little things :) So far so good, but what's so special about this you might wonder. Well, It's what's underneath. Beneath the citrus lies a gorgeous animalic Ambergris base, along with a perfectly inserted basil accord that mixes so beautifully with everything. Creed is known to have this signature Ambergris accord. They try to use it in most of their scents. But here in Royal Water, it's highlighted in 3D, possibly due to how "transparent" the top and middle notes are as opposed to other Creed scent profiles. A staple for summer for me and truly one of my favorite Creeds.

I was very excited to try this, especially with all of the good reviews. But to me it smells like a Lush store. I was quite disappointed

An intense fruity, citrus fragrance—especially lemon/lime with a smooth musky base. A refined fresh scent, but nothing mind blowing. 7.5/10

Simple yet elegant.

This smells posh - like a private-schooled playboy who can't wait to actually be over 45 and finally possess the gravitas to wear the very mature posh classics without seeming like a poser. But he isn't and doesn't, yet, and neither are/do his tennis buddies who are on their second marriage, but their first one to a model. These are the only guys who can wear this and not smell douchey.

No one talks about this. It's very underrated. It has the 90's musk like their other 90's or earlier fragrances, but a little more modern with the citruses. It's a little zesty. It's very classy. If I'm going to add that old school classic type scent profile to my collection it would be this.

Confused! Ambergris is not listed in the notes, not even on Creeds website, but the description above says it has ambergris and musk in the dry down!!!! Confused!

Royal Water opens with a blast of citrus fruits and spice with juniper, basil, and mint. Very fresh and clean and there is some nice soapiness. The dry down is typical musky Creed with added spicy basil and mint and a touch of soap. It doesn’t remind me a lot of Clive Christian 1872 (which I also own) as it isn’t as citrusy nor does it have the vetiver-like notes. Same style, but quite different. I do prefer 1872. Medium sillage and ok lasting power. Sits close to the skin anyways, but it lasts 6+ hours on me, which is very good for this style of fragrance. I really like Royal Water but it is stupidly expensive at retail. Under $200/100ml is reasonable from the discounters and it is generally readily available. This is a very masculine fragrance and suits a more mature crowd IMO. Not one of my favourite Creeds, but it is a very nice warm weather fragrance. Spring/summer and warm fall days only for me.

Very nice, green, fresh, classy, gentlemanly... Very close to 1872 Masculine by Clive Christian, but I actually prefer 1872 because that is lighter and brighter and a bit fresher and that is what I prefer. Royal Water is more musky. Otherwise both fragrances are really well made and natural smelling and exude pure class.

This is indeed a very citrus forward fresh and herbal fragrance with undertones of spicy , musky and woody notes. Super simple and natural very inoffensive and classic certainly a gentlemens scent even if it feels a little dated. Perfect for warm summer and spring days but the performance is so poor on me at least I can’t justify the high price even though it is a nicely blended scent.

This was my 14th Creed, I’ve been waiting a long time to buy this, it’s hard to justify buying over the first 13 I bought, just because it’s not as stand out but this isn’t to take away from it, I absolutely love this in its simplicity and wear it a lot, it is expensive for what it is, obviously. A beautifully simple citrus fragrance, with the class you’d expect uplifted by the underlining Creed musk. I have personally never smelt citrus heavy fragrance done so smoothly and that lasts as long as this. Signature sent worthy, office safe, extremely in offensive, sophisticated and wearable fragrance, easily dressed up or down, evening or daytime and just about every type of weather, maybe least best worn in winter as you’d expect with the notes. Testament to how much I love wearing this scent however I have purchased in a 500ml Flacon, to join my other 500ml Flacons of SMW, Aventus, Royal Oud, Erolfa and MI.

Extremely fresh, classic and clean. One of my favorite perfumes. Make sure you dress smartly to wear this (at least a polo or suit). The downside is the high price and average sillage. Best summer fragrance for office.

Boring opening, but after 10 minutes I've got a refreshing lemonade made with a bit of fresh basil leaves and a slice of fresh mandarin. Later on some sweetness comes into the game what is a great touch. Linear scent without huge imagination behind it, but all overall it is an amazing well composed gently stylish summer scent. Works well on warm summer evenings. Undoubtedly recognizable Creed DNA. Getting nicer with time on skin. Very pleasant and likeable. Unfortunately overpriced just like everything else at this brand. This would be a 10/10 for me if it lasted just a little longer on my skin. Others may not have this problem so I don’t want to rate too harshly. The scent is gorgeous, clean, crisp, herbaceous, watery. There’s citrus but it doesn’t overpower the other notes, which is a refreshing change from lots of popular perfumes (including ones that I like!). A very artfully blended fragrance in my opinion (longevity notwithstanding)! And the basil really does come through, for better or worse — I personally love it. I think that it can be worn year-round (I’m probably in the minority though) and for all occasions from formal/professional to casual.

Geyser water, with lemon rising to the surface. The lemon is just lemon. The initial attack is good because it’s undisclosed water, but what’s hidden turns out to be too obvious a citrus. Both directions seem to converge and create a blend dominated by lemon. As a result, it forms a slightly different citrus, which remains one citrus without corridors. Citrus without corridors seeks corridors, and what it finds turns out to be masculine. However, it’s not particularly skillful. It transforms into some fresh herbs, the scent of some medicine or syrup. This new chord is too obvious, even boyish. Certainly not Royal, just an ordinary cleaning agent. ⸻ Citrus alone, which, given the price, is inappropriate.

I thought I used to like this but.. nah. It just pongs. Both over-powering and utterly weak projection/sillage at the same time. Just an annoying smell to follow you around. Creed DNA for sure. No need for this one.

Weird lotion herb scent. Reminds me of an old lady.

This is a nice scent, but smells dated to my nose. A quintessential grandpa scent, but he owns a very expensive boat.

I just received the new formulation of Royal Water. My bottle from 10 years ago was almost finished. The new form is 99% the same as vintage. So no worries. Of over 800 reviews on fragrantica, this is my #1 citrus. The citrus and basil accord is what makes it special for me. It is understated. If your looking to be wowed, some may be disappointed. One spray on my wrist,one on the neck. Its 22 Celsius outside this spring evening, and I sit on my sofa next to the open window feeling the cool air breezing through and spreading this lovely molecules in the room. Lovely

Imagine a huge balloon glass full of lemons and limes , some Tanqueray and a nicely done tonic water with a slight herbal element like Fever tree, loads of ice and there you have it....Royal water, performance is really good and creates a classy impression, some may be slightly put off with how bitter it can sometimes feel, however it's deliberately done that way and that should be taken into consideration positively, a fragrance like this is a sub category of citrus blends, those bitter and biting creations like Penhaligons juniper sling or Adp Pura etc, really great release, chin chin ✌🏻

Got this as a sample when purchasing something else. I think this might actually be my favorite creed. Pretty classic but nice.

Someone maaaaaaaany reviews ago back in like 2018 mentioned picking up on the smell of marijuana in this and got downvoted to hell - I actually completely get it. Literally the first thing I thought when I smelled. Not a skunky weed, not a burnt weed, but something akin to the raw plant I am 100% picking up on here. It's making the scent a lot more interesting than I expected it to be - it's actually really nice.

I was waiting for long time to grab this. Creed's Royal Water is very clean, nice and classy. Fresh citruses with a green and bright, the bergamot and the juniper berries work great together. Slightly spicy, floral and musky. | Initial blast if very citrusy, but after 10-15mins you will enjoy every bit of the profile. Worth having in your collection.
