Dior Addict

The notes here are beautiful but present as a cacophony rather than a symphony. It smells like an old woman's house. I don't know if it's the Night Blooming Cereus or the Mandarin leaves or what but I can't help but wrinkle my nose as I type this. I love floriental scents but this is too old fashioned for me. If you like smelling like an old lady, knock yourself out. It also picks up a bit fishy on skin, so all around disappointing.

It's really nice, it's warm, it's spicy, welcoming in a seductive and mysterious way, elegant, mature. Very interesting, but I cannot get over how much it smells like a furniture store, it's probably because of the cinnamon-y wood.

from this fragrance I had the ... perfume. I guess it was 0.5oz15mL in a fabulous Vaporisateur and still more fabulous outer box, which was Mirrored on all sides and then still kind of stroboscopically glistening when you turned it (2002). (John Galliano being the Creative Director of 'Dior' as the venerable Fashion House then was also called.) and thèn the perfume itself. it was a sort of Addictive Scent of alluring flowers: Rose, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Night Blooming Cereus (anyone who had a blooming Cactus in the house knows) and the Silk Tree Blossom of which Fragrantica reports "a beautiful fruity floral note reminiscent of the smell of Albizia flowers". (Albizia Julibrissin.) this, and the immediate smell of the (non-Gourmand) Vanilla & Tonka. these seem to come all forward at once. and according to your presonal prevalence, to me the Roses and Jasmine and Cereus seem to conspire. while the rest doesn't hold back. I guess the Blackberry instilled a dark Fruity Flavor within the Oceanic Flowerburst while the mysore Sandelwood gave a thorough anchoring. I loved this perfume. as with the most perfumes this then formed a dear Rememberance of Things Passed.

I’m going to steer clear of the whole “it’s not what it used to be” conversation because honestly, we’ve all heard it a thousand times. Is Dior Addict different? Sure. Is she still that bitch? Absolutely. Every single time I wear it, someone inevitably says, “Are you wearing Dior Addict?! I used to LOVE that perfume!” and I secretly adore that. There’s something special about a fragrance that’s so recognisable it instantly sparks a memory. These days I get a surprisingly sharp cinnamon blast in the opening that I never noticed in the older versions, and if I’m honest, it’s not my favourite part. But after an hour it settles, the cinnamon steps aside, and that unmistakable Addict DNA comes strolling back in like it owns the place. She’s still glamorous. Still sexy. Still unmistakably Dior Addict. A classic for a reason.UN

Smells like gasoline to me

quite powdery, tonka bean and vanilla. Definitely vould have been a hit in 2002. Today there are many similar Dior Addict with musk and vanilla and powdery+white floral smell. Also, I didn't get any flowers from this maybe just in opening first couple of minutes

I am a big fan of black currant and blackberry in the notes. They create such an interesting layer over what would otherwise probably be a generic floral. Even though there is vanilla here, in my book this is a green white floral. I do not see any noir aspect to it. The tonka is nowhere near heavy enough to make it a dark, nighttime scent. It is a very elegant perfume from the early 2000s, very Y2K, but for mature women at that time. Some of my teachers might have worn this, because it reminds me of something familiar. I have to say that this definitely wins over the recently launched Addict flankers. They are too juvenile, too fruity, and too sweet, completely devoid of “Diorness.” I would choose this Addict over them anytime. Very pretty. Edit: Having indulged in the drydown, the scent didn't stay green white floral. It's vanilla, but I'd still not call it nighttime and dark.

If you miss the "old versions" of Addict ; buy Sud Pacifique Aloha Tiare and layer it with a basic Vanilla scent.

all the girls are here and ready to party (even blackberry, who almost never comes out) but jasmine is a sloppy drunk bitch who thinks she's the main character and everyone else goes home to avoid dealing with her.

Let’s imagine Addict is this unknown fantasy animal. The berries feel like the bones, the white night flowers the flesh, the vanilla and tonka the fur, and finally, the sandalwood the beast’s warm, moist breath. This is by no means an animalic fragrance, but it feels so alive and tactile.

All I can smell is bonfire smoke.

I like it but not on me as it does not suit my personality maybe someone who is more outgoing and open to attention might rock it

I think this was my 1st experience with flankers. I wore the original. Years later, it was gone, replaced by its new version. Then another. Then another. Soon, bottles were appearing, with the same name, but different notes. Eau de toilet. Eau de fraiche. Eua de blah blah blah. Soon, none of them even resembled the scent I was used to wearing!!!! I love the original. The only scents I've come close to finding are Silences Purple by Jacomo, and the Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue NYC Premiere. Those too, seem to be gone as well.

I got it as a blind-buy, didn't like it that much and gave it to a friend, now i remember the scent and regret so much giving it. Want to buy it again and give it the love it deserves.

The ultimate love potion. Unparalleled seduction. Dark, smoky bourbon vanilla with heady night blooming jasmines drenched in powdery tonka beans and sprinkled with a tad of cinnamon. None other version smells like her but Amouage Guidance is the closest thing to the queen. I dearly keep a very old bottle for a very special occasion.

I managed to pick up a partial older bottle! The batch code comes back as 2020 but I think it’s actually 2010 since numbers repeat every ten years. I have the one where the knob on top is the actual sprayer. It maybe has one ounce left but I needed to get my nose on this! It is absolutely beautiful! I haven’t smelled the newer versions so I can’t speak to that, but this is cozy and very sexy!! My vanilla has very much darkened my juice so be careful on light colored clothing. It’s not your typical vanilla scent. The blackberry and rose come through but heads right into that vanilla and sandalwood gorgeousness!! Love this. I have the edt and it doesn’t resemble this much. That’s more floral and feminine, this is femme fatale! If you can hunt down an older bottle, I’d say it’s worth it!

The blackberry note in Dior Addict is strong and entirely unsweetened. This is the tart, green scent of unripened blackberry. Knowing this explains much about this strange fragrance, ...regardless of whether you find it addictive or not. This dour and overlording blackberry, further roughly greened by mandarin leaf (so petitgrain?), ...and quite possibly unlisted aldehydic accompaniment, ...intertwines assertively with a rose and white floral cavalcade of crystalline splendour. This incurs a vague resemblance with Arpege, ...and all the unspoken implications that entails. In the end, the drydown's final result is a sharply floral and acridly vanillic white powder. In truth, the name branding of 'Addict' suggests a lurid sadness that verges on bad taste. (From the same wonderful folks that brought you Poison!) Addict's disconcerting scent profile further conjures visions somewhat less than wholesome. (If I condemn this too much, I'll only be accused of promoting olfactory heroin chic...) Still, there is something cold and callous about all this. Ultimately, each perfume wearer must make their own choices in life. By all means, experiment and explore the arcane wonders of our dazzling and darkened world, ...but if you get pulled into a downward spiral, at least take responsibility for pushing the spray trigger.

Hello fragrance fam! The vintage formulation of Dior Addict EDP, is the darkest and most complex of the trio (the 2012 and 2014 editions). It's well known for it's heavy, smoky Bourbon vanilla. The base is thick with sandalwood and tonka bean, giving it a spicy, resinous, almost boozy quality amidst a sweet blackberry note. This is exactly what I imagine a high-class lady of the evening would wear, and I mean that as the highest compliment. The blackberry and orange blossom provide a juicy, magnetic opening, while the tonka creates a creamy, amber finish. Wear this if you want to be remembered as ‘that girl’—it’s pure, addictive confidence.

One of the best spicy oriental winter evening perfumes. Can be worn all day too. I wasn’t sure how to feel about it during the first hour but now it’s the only perfume I crave. One of the best quality offerings right now

This is my signature scent, something I didn’t have for a long time. I have a lot of perfumes but never found “the one” until this. I smelled it at Sephora and for some reason was repulsed by it on paper. I found a tester that was cosmetically damaged for sale on eBay and threw a $50 usd bid at the seller whom I think accidentally accepted. I read so many raving reviews that for $50 I was willing to try it again. I have noticed with myself that sometimes perfumes smell differently to me so I chalked up me being repulsed by it months ago to recovering from a sinus infection a few weeks prior. So when I got this perfume in the mail I had low expectations. First spray was that nasty smell I remembered from a few months ago. Green and herby? But within seconds it transformed into this sexy, delectable, smell that I’m too note illiterate to even put into words. I get the vanilla and Tonka and I’ve found that those two notes tend to be winners for me as base notes (another one I love is poison girl edp). The amount of compliments that Dior addict gets me is astonishing. It leaves a glorious scent trail and stays for eternity on clothes. I sprayed it on my winter coat last week and it still leaves a scent trail today. I looked up my batch code and it’s from 2022 so I’m happy to know that my bottle is a recent one as I’ve read complaints about the new formula being mediocre and weak, which I can fully debunk. This is my best performing fragrance and it smells incredible. Usually you get one or the other not both, so this is a gem. I will always repurchase this at full price or whatever small discount I can find from my trusty eBay sellers. This perfume is sexy, youthful but mature (I’m 34), with the perfect mix of sweetness to not make it cloying or nauseating. This is what I I hope my kids remember me smelling like when they think of their childhood and I hope it brings them fond memories. I wore this scent to my grandfathers celebration of life and I’m grateful I did because it brings me back to that bittersweet day. This is a 1000000/10 in all categories for me. Give it a chance if you didn’t like it initially; I’m so glad I did

Omg this is gorgeous. 2002 edition, which contains REAL precious essential oils, no longer used today in designer perfumes. Absolutely gorgeous. I am on a vintage perfume buying spree. I already have a small stockpile of vintages, over my years of collecting, but i am adding more. I was able to procure the originals of Addict, Opium, and La Nuit Tresor. Tragically the IFRA has coldly, cruelly, and unforgivably gutted the good stuff from this and basically all perfumes past, present, and future. Including the historical masterpieces like Shalimar. Due to this, and because i recently started wearing my vintage Poison more often this fall (and falling in love with it all over again), i felt a mad urge to get my hands on several pre-IFRA perfumes that ive always wanted. I had to pay a pretty penny, but i dont regret it… pre-IFRA Addict is, for me, absolutely top tier. I never had or even smelled this perfume before, because i always turned my nose up at vanilla, but …what a shame!! I almost missed out! Because its a true love for me. Worth every cent i paid. Its DEEP vanilla and sandalwood. A match made in heaven. Unlike many, i love it from start to finish. I love the first fruity, white floral, hyper blue ink vanilla, intense as it is, to the crazy long dry-down, to the spicy (but more smooth than spicy) dryish tonka vanilla sandalwood finish which lasts for DAYS. The best way i can describe it: It’s chewy, smoky, adult caramel candy. Reminiscent ALMOST (to my senses) of oud (in the dry-down) but without that gasoline edge. Thats how it feels (when sprayed heavily). And similarly, how it smells. Chewing high end caramels in front of a bonfire at the beach. At night. Mouthwatering. Moreish. You want to keep smelling yourself. Even though i knew better, i ended up dousing myself in the stuff, which was a mistake … it threatened to turn me off of the fragrance all within minutes of falling in love…. I was drowning in melted smoky caramel. A case of too much of a good thing, for sure. The name of this perfume always turned me off. Too Tacky. But truth be told the name is very fitting for the juice. I was hooked after the first spray. Even the initial intense smell of ink had me huffing it in rapturously, and over spraying. Unsurprisingly, a couple hours later i hugged someone and they said “oh my god you smell so good!” The bottle is absolutely stunning. The gold metal against the deep midnight blue is perfect. They should have never changed a thing. Update the next day: A light spray is a soft less formal effect. Homey, cozy, not drastically different from Hypnotic Poison. Not a dupe either, but there are definite similarities. Very slight play-doh (which i do not say as a negative. I personally love HPs play-doh effect). The play-doh effect is far less here than it is in HP, though. I like this perfume far more than i like vintage HP. I would say HP is also far more unisex than Addict. I was worried when people said vintage Addict is unisex. I like smelling very feminine, and there are only a couple exceptions where i enjoy a unisex scent. This screams “woman” to me. Not unisex. I layered Addict with L Elephant and they blend seamlessly, and so gorgeously. I also layered it with L De Lempicka and again… gorgeous. I likely will never be able to get another vintage bottle of this, so i need to remind myself not to go crazy by wearing it every day. But its SO tempting. Ive now had it for two weeks and i already use it too often. Cant seem to get enough.

I was having a trying day, one of those days when everything around me seems about to unravel or implode, so I decided to spray on the big guns. I spritzed on some of my original formulation of Dior Addict EDP, which I keep in the refrigerator. I always forget how deep and strange this vanilla is, like what you might find if you were some exotic night-moth, trawling the pods after a good tumble in a night-blooming cereus blossom. Addict isn't as spicy as Kenzo L'Elephant, but it has a simillar chai-like aspect. I bought this bottle from a trusted source, and I can tell that it was well preserved. It's dark enough to stain skin and fabric now--which is to be expected from a good vanilla-dominant fragrance--and every time I compare it to the current formulation I wonder if the newer juice will smell this good in 20 years. I doubt it, though. The new stuff isn't awful, but it lacks the Mysore sandalwood and (probably) the night-blooming cereus note.

I have a 2002 bottle of this one. the top is kinda screwed up but the rest is beautiful. way more decadent than the current green thing-y vanilla.

Wearing a few sprays of 2002 vintage from a generous-hearted friend -- precious last drops! There is such a wonderfully delicate balance going on here between soft spices, heady vanilla, silky florals. Opening notes are very green for me, also, smelling like underripe banana peel, a side-effect of certain green jasmines (and ylangs) that I love. As this fades slightly, I get a puzzlingly but delightfully strong sweet cinnamon effect, like a vanilla-spice cookie. The green but never humid white florals hum along next to this spiced vanilla for the duration of the wear. This is somewhat bittersweet but never harsh, vanillic while still steering widely clear of today's vanilla-overdose gourmands (no shade from me; I like those, too) -- such a sense of measured restraint and refinement, but with enough richness to read as an opulent floral-vanilla. I picture the milky pastels of Japonisme-movement paintings contrasted with bold scarlet touches when I smell this.

2002, what a time to be alive. I personally love the 80s, but the early 2000s was such an awesome era for perfume. So many groundbreaking releases and innovative formulas. Which leads me to Dior Addict (Vintage). I didn't discover Dior Addict until 2010, as my fragrance journey did not begin until 2007. It was such an extraordinary, captivating and distinct fragrance. A prodigious work of art. Three absolutes housed in one bottle was unheard of at the time, especially for an EDP. The Addict you'll find available over the counter today is surely an EDP, but this version is easily an extrait by today's and yesterday's standards. This was also an era where brands weren't shy about using raw materials and going above and beyond when delivering quality. Here we are 23 years later and I am still reminded of nothing else when I smell Dior Addict. I have never smelled an oriental-vanilla so magnificent. It's the kind of scent that stains the memory and the clothes. Aside from containing three absolutes, one of the underscores about this fragrance is that it contained the very rare Queen of The Night. A unicorn of a flower that blooms only one night out of the year and wilts before dawn. In full bloom, it smells strongly of vanilla with hints of jasmine. The tonka is just so dark, sweet and resinous and seamlessly blends with the bourbon vanilla. There are a handful of "women's" releases that I found to be very gender neutral in this category. This is one that always stands out next to Angel, Shalimar, Must de Cartier Parfum and Givenchy Organza Indécence.

When i wear addict the vibe i get from it is "ink" like if you added vanilla bean paste to ancient calligraphy ink sticks is what addict is to me. I think it's the inkiness that gives it that medicinal edge I dont get vanilla extract that's more on the "alcohol" side and Addict is not that.
