Tempo Eau de Parfum

My friends told me tonight I smell like grandmas butt hole, I love it, it’s perfect and I just don’t care.

I have no idea if my sample is bad or something but the mate note smells rotten, it has the acidic facets of a rotting plant. This somehow smells like rotting soap

5.7/10 A less brave derivative of farenheit Le Parfum. It's nice but it lacks nuance. To my nose it's just patchouli and violet leaf, which are two of my favourite notes. This needs something else going for it in my opinion, maybe if the bergamot was dialed up a bit I would like it more.

Definitely a very classy and mature fragrance. Smells like man in a business suit standing in a wooden cottage in a moody, mossy forest. Very earthy and masculine, just not my taste though as I lean much more soft and powdery.

A lusciously blended and sophisticated herbal offering from Dyptique, a fragrance house that I admire greatly. However, based on the price point, I expect some power and projection for my buck, so to speak, and sadly this particular fragrance is as fleeting as a sober Irishman on St Patrick's day! The sheer lack of projection on my skin is bordering on the ephemeral. The only other fragrances that I have experienced this same phenomenon are D&G's 'The One' and 'The Scent' by Boss. Both of those 2 examples projected reasonably well on the tester strip, as did this.

A grown up patchouli scent that is earthy, woody, and slightly green. Great for fall and winter, and the cooler spring days. I enjoy wearing this one a lot. One of the better diptyque fragrances I’ve tried, leans masculine.

best patchouli fragrance out there in my opinion, none of the hazelnut accord or sweetness or the sweatiness I sometimes face, it smells mature and sophisticated. good for everyday wear in fall especially. I just wished diptyque would have offered refills for this like oprheon and many other.

Bitter matte accord ruins it for me and it doesn’t pack the patchouli punch I was hoping for.

Diptyque are so good at creating timeless classics. I think it's the only house that makes me want to rebuy their perfumes when the bottles run out. Orpheon, Eau Duelle, Tam Dao.. Everytime i try an expensive perfume, one of the first things i think is "maybe i can find a cheaper inspired by". With Diptyque i think it's hard to achieve it though. There's storytelling depth in their perfumes and they evoke real emotions when experienced (for me at least). When i first smelled Tempo, the first thing that came to mind is.. a dark colour corduroy jacket. It brings this timeless retro vibe, classy and casual at the same time. Mature and moody. Rain in a forest and a cozy wood cabin. It was not an instant love and the first time i tried it i thought it was pretty simple and linear. "Oh ok, it's a patchulli based perfume with a retro vibe, nothing special.." But as with every Diptyque, you just want to keep coming back. They are so safe and reliable, you want to have them around and grab whenever the occasion. You just know they will do the work, you will be subtly noticed, lift your mood and give a nice backround scent for you to remember the occasion by. When talking about perfumes, i usually take it lightly.. they are just something to wear on the daily, an accessory to make you smell good. But when it comes to Diptyque, this house makes me think of perfumery as a real art, something that can really change your perception when wearing one of their perfumes.

The herbal aspect of this fragrance esp mate really kills the initial impression, it will be identified as a smell rather than a fragrance. I think some older gentleman might like it if they are into herbal scents with musty and gum vibe.

really nice, patchouly but not cloying and quite aromatic. pleasant to the nose. i really get the red pepper in here as well.

a sweet, partly spicy, partly boozy, partly earthy abstract/modernized patchouli that also feels like a fougere in its intentional barbershop freshness. a sleek contemporary gentleman.

Patchouli and warm herbal . Something cozy ambery although there’s no amber . Soft and cuddling smell .

Diptyque #10 – The outlier, the gem i was looking for. As i took the sample of Tempo in my hands, i couldn’t help but notice the dark green color of the liquid. That got me going because its a nice change of pace from the usual clear or light yellow we usually get nowdays. A dark color also signals a deep, evocative or intriguing scentprofile and i was all here for it. My intuition was right because Tempo is an amazing fragrance and i’d dare say it topples L’Ombre dans L’eau in terms of being a favourite out of the Dyptiques i’ve sampled. That is because its a perfume done to my taste and it builds upon aesthetics i enjoy and seek. Initially, Tempo is more shy then i expected from judging the color of the liquid, yet the color is well justified and befitting and that becomes even more apparent in the drydown. The composition takes a side-step out of the boundries Dyptique set up for me with the ones that i've tried, altho it doesn’t wonder too far and it actually circles back to a degree to the first one i’ve smelt, Tam Dao. Tempo feels like a dark, eerie and brooding cousin of Tam Dao. The scentprofile is earthy, woody, herbal but not the usual kind of green medicinal or grassy herbs Dyptique often employs. Instead the herbs feel wild, dark and almost tea-like. I can almost imagine the vines, the roots, moss and vegetation represented by the scent of Tempo as being invasive and lethal to all the other green life forms that grow close to it. I suspected a dark vetiver but i was wrong on that altho the combination of patchouli, mate and violet leafs would explain the impression. In reality, the key note of the perfume is the patchouli, with support from the previously mentioned notes. The patchouli has an obvious earthy but also minty quality and as usual with patchouli, this ain’t the luminous, uplifting and fresh kind of mintyness as seen in creations such as Torino21 or You or Someone like You. Instead its a dark, dare i say sensual, rich patchouli mintyness thats perfectly in tone with the general atmosphere of the fragrance. I love it and i believe it might replace my longing for Prada’s extremely expensive and equally hard to find Midnight Train, altho Tempo ain't cheap eighter. Tempo brings to my mind a number of fragrances. Firstly, again, there are hints of Tam Dao in the beginning but they dissipate in time. Secondly, its stylistic reminds me of two Commes de Garcon fragrances i’ve tried, those being Wonderoud and Wonderwood. Altho i had difficulties in perceiving them, i could pick up on the dark woody ambiance they created. Lastly, it reminds me of Encre Noire to a degree. If Encre Noire fully embraced the nocturnal profile through smoke and dry vetiver, Tempo creates mystery and thrill with its earthy and minty dark patchouli. Nevertheless, its no less masterful and evocative. I can’t help but remark how Diptyque scents are developing into reference perfumes to me. I recall describing Encre Noire as being “The forests of Twin Peaks at night”. Tempo is the forest in “The Village”. The woods in the movie were often shown during the day yet they weren’t any less terrifying and mysterious. Infact, the presence and the legend of the “creatures” sent even more chills down my spine then the dark woods and owls of Twin Peaks. Damnit! Just as i was getting comfortable that my wishlist is nearly empty, here i am looking at a new addition. I’ve added creations to that list, removed them, added them again and deleted them once more. Tempo however...yea...its there to stay untill i get hold of it.

Nothing other smells like this. This is a parfume that I bought instantly after 1 time smelling. It is a very unique and very warm scent. True pachouli, very heavy earth and moss like scent. To me it is 100% a male scent. Has some chocolate feels. If you like patchouli then this is THE patchouli fragrance. There is simply nothing like it. It is super deep and extremely well balanced. This represents the definition of a niche.

Im wear I ng this now, and I flip-flop between Tempo edp & Tam Dao edp being my favorite Diptyque. Either way, this is absolutely gorgeous! I have been cherishing a sample for a long time, & hope to add a FB eventually. I don't know L'Instant Guerlain, but i do know Heritage, which is also a very patch forward frag. I'm surprised no one mentioned the similarities btw Tempo & Heritage, or at least vintage Heritage. I haven't tried any recent formulations. Happy sniffing!

oh tempo….. i fell in love with tempo upon launch but found an excuse to write off needing a fb in my collection. after a recent visit to diptyque, i was reminded why this aroma is so provoking. that beautiful blend of sage and pink pepper stands out so strong with the grounding element of patchouli creating this sexy, warm (yet cool) fragrance. i was at my mainstay bar when a regular walked in and i was enveloped in a cloud of tempo. a full bottle had been on my mind for weeks - i almost jumped out of my barstool to confirm she was wearing tempo. a week later and the bottle is mine. i wear this almost every day and i actually enjoy it on fabric rather than skin. warm bulb on wrists and neck, tempo on wool.

Based on the notes, this is something I didn’t know I’d like this much. However, the drydown of this is warm, cozy, sweet yet fresh. Someone wrote that it smells like a hug from your dad in the most comforting way and I 100% agree. I don’t know why, but maybe it’s the faint smell of aftershave mixed with the warmth and skin-like scent of this drydown. I love diptyque and have yet to smell something from them that I couldn’t appreciate! It’s an inoffensive scent I think most people could wear.

Hard to say on this one. I can barely smell it. After a brief hit of sharp woodiness this quickly settles into a warm comforting softly masculine sent. Like your papa's clothes after he finishes work in his woodshop. I couldnt see myself wearing this on a regular basis but I'd buy it for someone I love. Edit: One hour later the woodiness is quietly overpowering the other samples Ive tried on. I keep getting whiffs of which are still soft but somehow persistent. Its definitely winning me over. I do however worry that its too woody for me for regular wear.

Weirdly smells really strongly of mango to me for the first few seconds before it dries down--not very sweet, more like the peel than the flesh of the fruit itself. After that it's a nice, strong, bordering-musty patchouli with a bit of pepper. It lasts forever (probably too long, I put my coat through the wash after I wore this to a show and the coat still smells). Kind of soapy, which I'm usually not into, but the scent evokes such a specific image that the soapy-ness adds to the overall vibe. Makes me feel like I'm in a new age basement bookstore that sells incense and tarot cards. The owner is about to engage me in a 20 minute conversation about historical fiction and the teen behind the register just finished smoking like, a LOT of pot.

Earthy, damp patchouli perfection with a sweet ambery base. The pepper, sage, and tea notes support patchouli's herbaceous and aromatic facets, keeping Tempo fresh throughout the drydown. This fragrance feels effortlessly cool: confident, down-to-earth, and just a little edgy. It's very late 60s/early 70s rock n' roll to me, very Creedence Clearwater Revival or The Who. I reach for it a lot, especially on nights out, because it just never lets me down. It's charismatic and also centers/grounds me. It's the closest thing I have to a signature scent...one of those perfumes that almost feels too close to myself to write about. We've been through a lot together! If you love patchouli you'll almost certainly love Tempo. Like me :)

I wore this in the fall/winter for almost four years.. and I miss it. Opens super bright and fresh before settling into something quite cozy. It smelled so insane on my skin and is seriously long lasting–the best thing about this perfume is that it follows you all day and the next. An ex-lover always said it was their favorite that I wore, and it makes me feel so confident. Seriously, nothing is as grounding as this scent. It has such an alluring and commanding presence.

this isn't only/always an extremely sentimental fragrance, but it can feel quite like getting a happy hug from a loving, gentle father.

YUM! I love the herbal, warm, green, just general comforting feeling this one gives. It’s subtle, as in it doesn’t smell like a perfume. This could easily pass as someone’s natural scent.

While the fresh aspects are enjoyable this one is too funky for me.
