I wish D&G hadn’t discontinued this scent. If anyone knows of a perfume close to this scent available I. The market, I’d love to know it.
Bubblegummy upon first spray Fun and joyful not gourmandish Dry down is v clean and soapy Not a wedding perfume like some reviews may state Somehow reminds me of chanel no 19 despite no common notes yet it gives the same vibes Not my cup of tea tbh
Rosa Moceniga OG from The Merchant of venice, smells like Rose the one. For those who are missing this perfume.
I loved this fragrance so much! Please bring it back!
This was my wedding scent. Can't believe they discontinued it... 😓
Smells dewy, rosy, and slightly luminous. Feels graceful and intimate — like a quiet evening with soft lighting.
This is absolutely beautiful! This is coming from someone who doesn’t typically gravitate towards a rose fragrance. I am very selective about what kinda of rose scents I use. First spray and I immediately knew this was going to be a winner! It is so elegant and feminine, I can definitely see this as a bridal fragrance. It’s a shame it’s been discontinued and I consider myself very fortunate to have scored a bottle! I don’t find it generic in the least. The longevity is pretty good though it does fade within about four or five hours it remains as a gorgeous skin scent. Delicately reminding you of its beauty! This is very close to being a love ❤️ !
I was looking forward to trying this (it was a blind buy) and the opening is very pretty, bright and fresh. More fruity than floral. But then it fades into nothing… Literally gone within an hour max! I guess the bottle might have been off, but then it started off so good… shame.
I realize it's not the same as having an OG bottle, but the replica from https://thefragranceshop.com "Dolce & Gabbana type Rose The One for women" is really lovely. They also do ship world-wide. (I'm NOT affiliated! However, I do appreciate their service and have several discontinued fragrances from them, including this one.) I agree that it's incredibly disappointing that this perfume is discontinued. For me, it's a bright, fruity/tangy, spring-like rose that also works great in warmer weather. A bit more linear than complex, but delightful nonetheless. I wear this year round as it make me feel pretty and put together without appearing that I'm trying too hard. My husband always comments favorably on this one too!
BRING! IT! BACK!! I loved this fragrance so much
I’m searching for a bottle
This was my signature scent in 2010. I loved it. However, nowadays rose perfumes give me headaches. Funny how much taste changes
I had forgotten how much I loved this perfume. This morning I found myself randomly grabbing this and I think I'm going to have to add it into regular rotation. The rose is a sweet garden rose, but not overwhelming or "grandma", the pink grapefruit is a fresh tart note, I do get a hint of soft musk and warm sandlewood and the lily of the valley on the dry down the other notes are there, but none really pop out. It blends together beautifully. I was gifted this bottle for my 29th birthday and I liked it, but found it too flowery, and now at 40 I'm in LOVE ❤️
The fragrantica community is comprised of people who love perfumes but also sensitive people with a warm heart. Thank you for letting me share my story and feelings about my sister and this perfume. As years go by I am getting used to the fact that she is dead and I will never see her again in this world. However rose the one will bring her to my mind and comfort me when I smell it.. Thank you Suzie 😊
The pink grapefruit throws me off on this one. I didn't even know I had this. I found it hiding behind my dresser. It must've fell as soon as I bought it and forgot I bought it. I was thrilled to see her since I love The One and I love all the notes in here and I'm a rose 🌹 lover... Well all the notes except grapefruit and that is the note that stands out the most... Doesn't mesh well with my chemistry. At least not in this weather.
My sister depi died seven years ago. Her presence is revived by this perfume. I never thought I would love this perfume so much. When I smell this perfume I smell my sister. She is back in life again. How much I missed her! I wish I could thank and hug the perfumer of this perfume for creating it and bringing my sister back to life. I cannot find this perfume anymore. I have a little sample and this sample is my special moment when I speak to my sister in my mind.
Rose the One: a very nice, young, fresh, juicy spring rose. The citrus blast (grapefruit, but I get a lot of lemon zest) makes it lively and very easy to wear. The youthfulness and modernity come from a fruity accord, the litchi is quite present so is the blackberry. Transparent, not cloying. I would say a rose for non- rose lovers! The rose is a pale pink one. You can perceive it throughout the life span of the fragrance (max 3 hours) but the main impact is a lemon curd tart. Sweet and acidic. All in all a very nice fragrance, easy to wear in Spring. But you have seen such a theme many times, you can have the same feel in Girl in Capri, Hermes Twilly (not identical but in the same wavelength). I would not go that far as to chase the so highly priced discontinued bottles, you can get the same feeling with less money.
I really like this, it's pretty, clean, fresh, rosey. The sample I got was less than half full and the topper wasn't pushed down all the way, so there might be some evaporation that could've effected the quality. But I've also seen an official picture of the sample and it's only partway full, the vial itself is larger so maybe I holds more than 2ml? When I first put it one I thought it was a nice sweet rose. Now that it's dried down it's a fresh rose. Based on the notes I would've thought I'd be more sweet, but maybe it's BC the sillage is so low I can't detect them over the rose. Sits VERY close to the skin, daytime spring/summer. I don't think this will last long on think. It's much better than the Dior rose perfumes IMO, this is a sweet fresh rose, whereas Dior is usually just fresh green rose. It would make a lovely body wash or candle. Would be good for anyone 20+ years old really, very wearable. Probably a safe blind buy for most fresh floral lovers. An easy daytime scent, since the silage is low it's likely to be inoffensive. I wouldn't buy it as I have other rose scents that are more powerful, Tresor Midnight Rose, but I might keep a small bottle if gifted to me. It smells a bit like the Herbal Essences Rose shampoo that I love, but less strong and some extra notes added to the perfume, basically is smells like a fresh shower on a sunny day. Last about 6 hours. It's was over price at $180-240 for 100ml I think it might be bc its been discontinued.
I am always curious about discontinued perfumes when the fact that they have been discontinued is the bane and intense displeasure of perfume collectors here. I love to search them out and see if I agree w/ the majority of the readers of this magazine. I usually do. It sucks that gems like D&G Sicily and Velvet Sicily and Rose the One get discontinued because they are really wonderful. I found a small mini bottle of Sicily and I have a full bottle of Velvet Sicily, thanks to the internet. That being said here are my thoughts on Rose the One. I agree w/ the one reviewer below that says Rose the One is a rose that has been blown from a pale pink glass. It is smooth in its perfection, and it does tremble w/ fragility first because it is made from glass and 2nd because the rose knows it isn't really a rose at all. It is very disappointed that it is a replica made from glass instead of a living flower from nature. Rose the One smells completely artificial, but despite that fact it still works. This pale pink glass rose sits on a vanity and in her jealousy of not being real she shimmers w/ brilliant intensity. That shimmering creates a perfume that has a very crystal cold and bright aura. It tries to mimic the smell of a true rose, fails but still enchants the beholder all the same. The smell of false roses, brightened by the sunshine hitting the glass, this rose smells of freesia, sun warmed grapefruit and the purity of glass and crystal. This is a very bright perfume and should be used delicately or the glass rose could break and cut you deep. If you like the idea of wearing a perfume that should have been named Glass Rose instead of Rose the One check out this intriguing perfume that is almost a little too perfect. I bought a few samples of this on Fragrancenet.com. Full bottles are insanely priced on ebay now.
I'm on the hunt for a bottle, please DM me if you have one to destash
This fragrance is the epitome of spring. Floral and fresh with a hint of fruitiness in the opening. It's what I always wished a bouquet of flowers would smell like... rather than what it actually smells like, which is mostly just pollen. This is a very pleasant, feminine, uplifting and inoffensive fragrance. Despite this, it manages not to smell like every other floral I've ever smelled before, which is quite an achievement. The only downside is that it is so floral that it triggers my allergies and makes me sneeze! It's worth it for the scent though. And similar to the previous reviewer, I've had this fragrance since it came out and the scent has not changed at all. The cap is tarnished and the juice has turned from pink to a light brown colour, but the integrity of the fragrance remains untouched 🙂
When I wear this fragrance, I picture a rose created entirely of smooth, blown glass -- the same pale pink color as the juice... delicate, elegant, without any sharp edges or imperfections... yet, it's fragile, exposed... trembling with the innate knowledge of its own vulnerability, perhaps? It's a rose, but reworked and refined -- synthesized and created as a human work of art... imagined as the rose we would like to encounter on our most memorable journeys. Thornless, certainly, and devoid of all negative associations. To me, this is a purified rose -- stripped of anything that might suggest a flower past its initial bloom (or of anything earthy or green, for that matter). It remains in its idealized state, forever. I can, on occasion, grasp hints of the litchi, peony, and grapefruit backing it up -- especially during the first ten minutes or so -- but it's always a rose to me. Despite the passing of the years, my original bottle (and now, back-up bottle) did not go "off." The perfume smells just as it did in the late aughts/early 2010s. That alone is an accomplishment. (However, the cap of my original bottle, which was obtained from a legitimate source, did "tarnish" over the years, which I've heard is not uncommon.) It does not remind me of D&G The One at all (I was never a fan of the original, but Rose the One called to me from the moment I smelled it). For what it's worth, this one always prompted unsolicited compliments when I wore it in public. This is -- was? -- a beauty in its own right. It's also a great example of what perfume was like in the early 2010s. Such a shame this was discontinued...
I fell in love with this scent too late!!! Drowning in scents from scentbox, I didn't really test this till now. A decade later? lol I prefer this to Bvulgari Rose Essential which has a more powdery note. The One is more fresh and bright. I have a full bottle of Chloe and I think that is really bright. The One is sort of in the middle. Now to find one similar. Why did D&G get rid of this?!?!
This is really weird - maybe I have the world's weirdest body chemistry - but on me this smells EXACTLY like dryer sheets. I've actually been looking for the perfect laundry fragrance and all of the fragrances marketed as literal laundry/cotton scents smell way too sharp and aldehydic for me so, in spite of the fact that it smells nothing like what I expected from the notes, I might look for a full bottle.
Used to have big bottle of this beauty but I sadly lost it after moving, I'm still not over it 🥲 I will never understand why it was discontinued, shame on you D&G!
It's a TRAGEDY that this was discontinued. I still find it hard to believe. This is a beautifully blended perfume, and there is nothing out there that resembles it. Shame.
Years ago, I chased young lady through a very busy train station just to ask her what she was wearing. Yup, like some creepy stalker. Well, she smelled great and I had to know what it was. It's not my fault, this perfume made me do it!
I usually do not lile rose scents , they are heavy and sweet but thisone is very nice, light and it blends so well together with the fruits and vanilla that the florals are toned town nicely. it gives you a nice calm, soft, clean vibe. unique feminine elegant. It does not change kuch as it dries down. But it does not lost eather.Sillage is ok. Nice every day scent.
Rose the One was previously my signature scent due to how obsessed i was(I still am tbh) with it. I've almost finished my bottle that i got years ago - but it's still fine.. doesn't smell off or anything thankfully. I wish for it to come back to stay because this scent is one of the ones frags that makes me feel like a classy, elegant lady. i wore this when i went to job interviews, date nights or brunches.. i was able to wear it for any special occasion. When i wear this, i feel refined.. Almost a Audrey Hepburn vibe🤣 especially when i go out for dinner. The florals are so beautiful and well mixed in my opinion. I don't get any screechiness from the litchi or grapefruit as i've read from the other comments. I just get a smooth floral - rose scent that's just super classy and feminine. This lasts all day for me and i've received many compliments. always a 10/10 no matter the season😄
The perfume i love the most beside champs elysses. The rose scent is not overpowered and really soft and also lasting for a day. I got as a gift from my husband as he know i love his perfume the one so much (i give him as a birthday gift). So sad it is discontinue :(
