Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 262 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased November 2025 Layering this with the mens version didn't really work. It's brutally overpowering, maybe I didn't do it right. I smelt like my gran. If that's what you want, then do it. We all miss our grans, nothing wrong with emulating their best qualities. Stop wearing bra coloured clothes. I'm not keen on overspraying the mens one, it cloys easily but I'll get back to a retrial of layering these damn it! The scent itself is simply aldehydic jasmine with some amber. It's very nostalgic. A guy down here wrote he wears it on its own, well.........*sigh* if you insist I can't complain. It is a classic for a reason, but how about you step it up to White Diamonds. That's really the star of Liz Taylor's lineup. I do miss the days of when ladies smelt like this generally, of all age groups and that's what I like the most about Passion. My most worn female cologne is Tabu. Nobody has told me off yet. I also have Scorpion which, I didn't know, is based off Poison. FragranceX had that listed in the mens section. Well I love both, and I really feel like getting Poison because most of all I miss ladies in their 20s-50s back in the '90s smelling like Poison. Nostalgia's a helluva drug and it's costing me. this is a fabulous perfume. there really isn't any other adjective that describes the qualities of this perfume so well. the perfume has the 'Template' which I instinctively remember as the one specific for the Grand Flower Powder Clove & Civet Bomb-Perfumes of the 1980s. (or choose any other Opulent and Headily Present adjective.) I will not name them (I have done that too much) but the very and most notoriously Attachante, Assailante & Enivrante (Catching, Clawing, Hitting & Intoxicating) perfumes had this same Template that houses in my Heart. these Templates can be various but share certain characteristics. what strikes me in Passion is the immediate Powdery Nebula that circumsurrounds your head the moment you give it leeway. it is a Tortioned Powderiness within which also come forward the Prominent Spicy notes and notably, the Cloves, Cinnamon, Insence, Caraway. one has to think about Youth Dew, KL de Karl Lagerfeld, in a sense, Obsession. yet the other Accords all, not so much interfere as Blend in in this whirl of Flowery, Woody & Civet Fixative Clouds that rain down upon us. the perfume is an entire Microclimate of its own. the Flowers I readily smelled (with no acute knowledge of the Notes) were Rose, Carnation (Cloves), Gardenia, Ylang, Orris, Heliotrope (the Powder Snow dawning upon and infringeing within, us), Jasmine, Lily-of-the-Valley (a Ting), then in wave upon wave and Swelteringly and at once, Gradually, Superimposing and Suffusing the Atmospheres, the more Resinous, Balsamic, even Herbal and intensely Forestrial, the Accords of Civet (also noticeable upon first sniff), Oakmoss, Leather, Incense, Patchouli, the great Animalcy and Soothing Layering Capacities of Honey, Vanilla, Artemisia, the Woody compartment Cedar, Sandel, Patchouli, Oakmoss. naming notes double exactly also mirrors this complexly layered and virtuosely blended Movie Star Perfume. Tuberose, Rose, Heliotrope, Orris, all jump in in this dreamlike Concoction Conceptualized as in a Cove of Witches. there has to be a Genius Perfumer or, several, behind this Dream, these Tectonics, Hydraulics Dynamo of a perfume. as Elizabeth Taylor were Pisces, a lot of (spiritually, not in perfume-technical sense!) Aquatics in this perfume. the perfume is the Nemesis of the coming Calone, Hedione and Aquatic, Oceanic perfumes that were coming. it already has a firm Housing in the 1980s. each of these Notorious Perfumes are Referencing and Retroactively, form References unto each other. they form all wether differentiated, yet also cosupportive Accorded Weaves of Unforgettable and History Changing perfumes. the perfume is a mystery while in the acenters of this mystery there is a smooth and sheer Cinematic Phantastical Perfume present. it is as soft as unforgettable and irrepressable. the Perfume of a Dystopia of Cinematic Presence within the Fabulous Fashions and Haute Joaillerie of miss Elizabeth Taylor.

Some of the reviews mention surprise about Liz Taylor launching such a dark, moody, heady fragrance, but she (very) famously wore Bal a Versailles before creating her own line. Passion is by no means a dupe for BaV, but they share the same character; powdery, animalic, patchouli, indoles. (If you look at the reviews for Bal a Versailles, you will see that it was Michael Jackson's signature-- it was actually Liz Taylor who introduced him to it!)

Smells like leather and very powdery which makes it a mature smell that lasts for whole day. I blind bought it because it's apparently gothic perfume but gives more grandma and I feel like am too young to wear this but it's not ugly I did get complement while wearing this. I like how the bottle looks like.

The scent is a bit dated but still wearable to day. It has character, is a bit dark and probably not for everyone. I really like it a lot.

This smells like purple and fuzzy suede leather, but it has a lot more going on with it. It's bold, complicated and elegant. Strong and lasts for hours. An unbelievably good bargain, far better than most of the perfumes out there today that cost 8 times as much.

Bought it because a few reviews said it was not dated and one review mentioned it smelled like the fragrance maleficent would have worn. I’m sorry, this is absolutely dated. Not to say it’s bad but it’s in the same family as white diamonds, she is the older, darker and deeper sister. This is not safe blind buy. It’s giving VERY mature. I’ll be gifting it to someone who can appreciate her.

@Frisskiss Not outdated at all. This perfume reminds me of my granny... and of woodsmoke, warm Appalachian wind, wildflower honey, freshly washed faces and linens, Sunday mornings at church, and the most beautiful flowers in North America. It can't be a coincidence that my late grandmother adored Imari and Habanita. Being alive never goes out of style. Nor does a good home-cooked meal.

Yep, I wore this in the fourth grade. By ten, I wore Ysatis. Eleven years old, I wore Nakomis and at twelve years old I wore Poeme. Anyhow, I just thought why on earth would I suffer for not being able to purchase the high-end fragrances when this is the embodiment of sultry, deep dark and delicious? Just think--a drop of this and everyone knows that you're a person with magic. This is not outdated even though it's 2026.

My late mom was a Catholic church lady, the farthest thing from Malificent. In life, she looked like Elizabeth Taylor and wore many of her fragrances. I'm glad she introduced me to this one. I'll thank my late mom instead instead of the other reviewer.

People keep saying this is a winter scent or an evening scent, which in the context of being a perfume marketed towards women, I can agree with that. Though this fragrance has a sort of unisex appeal with the incense and the animalic leather. I honestly think this blooms more in warmer weather. Not hot middle of the summer weather, but warmer. I find it harder to wear in cold weather because the dry down becomes this old lady skin scent that I don't appreciate. When it's warmer, it blends better, the dry down is more vanilla musk than skin. Overall, this scent just reads as incense and aldehydes to me. The animalic part of it keeps the aldehydes soapy and musky rather than fatty and waxy, which I appreciate. The perfume elicits imagery of dark femme cartoon villain characters. The likes of Maleficent and the Queen from Snow White. So I agree with the reviews that say that, the bottle also helps sell this vibe. It also reminds me of church and women that were old when I was young. That makes it mostly comforting to me. I can also see the old Hollywood starlet vibe. That's the basic vibe to me, also it's a special occasion perfume, but an everyday cologne. I've found it interesting that a lot of powerful dark feminine scents from the past read more as masculine/unisex now.

I have the dusting powder. The packaging is simple but nice and it feels real good to apply some of that glittery, light purple perfumed powder to sleep. It smells soft and spicy, stays for hours and creates an aura of comfort and luxury.

I've been on a self imposed perfume buying ban which lasted all of a few weeks, before spotting this queen at the chemist warehouse. I justified impulsively buying it because of the price, even though I knew it wasn't even to wear it. I just wanted to smell it again. Confessions of a perfume addict.. Honestly I'm way more offended by La Panthere than this. I find that way more 'vintage' and unwearable. This isn't how I remember it but it's really really nice. On first spray it reminded me of Rive Gauche or Chanel.5 but on the dry down a little bit like Crystal Noir. I haven't stopped spraying it all evening and then sprayed some into the bath. It's a little bit intoxicating. I cannot imagine I will wear this out of the house. But I can't imagine wearing anything but this at home. It will be my dirty little secret. No doubt somebody will call in unannounced and find me in my gardenia incense fragrance bomb. I may end up accused of being a witch. Or even worse, be asked to reveal where I'm hiding the hundreds of cats. But by then I will be so unapologetic, it won't matter.

Musty dusty patchouli, smells very dated. Not for me

Very powdery! Big initial blast of incense but unfortunately (on me at least) the powder quickly takes over. Not terrible by any means but it definitely gives an impression of an older woman's handbag - I wish the spices were more prominent on me. Certainly great value for money though. I am testing a mini Parfum.

The reviews made me blind buy this and I truly regret this. What a stink! This is exactly the perfume I smelled hundreds of times around like 25 years ago on older weird ladies with hundreds of cats talking to themselves and always though it’s super disgusting. I can only smell incense so I’m gonna spray it around on fridays when I’m doing magic. I will put my velvety dark purple coat and swirl my magic wand around. It’s so strong! Even if I fart my a** off and spray this I’m afraid someone will tell it’s actually worse now.

To say that "Passion" is an unexpected and a stand out perfume is to say nothing, really. First sprays invoke a memory of bitter herbs and woods in a wise woman's house lost in the forest, a heady concentration hitting your nose and stopping you in your tracks. It is not unpleasant, but bewildering and peculiar, making you take several sniffs at it. Bergamot with aldehydes come through next, softening the initial "blast" and creating spicy-herbal note with artemisia. Ylang-ylang and LOTV are indistinct as singular notes, but lend themselves to sweetness slowly flowing in. The woods are most plentiful and beautifully done. They are on the dry and sunny side, deep and fragrant. Patchouli lends its bitter-green accord, reinforcing oriental spices feel. Heliotrope and orris maintain powdery facet, whilst jasmine and honey add a slightly drunken/alcoholic edge to the heart. Florals, despite their profiles, are neither too sweet, oily or cloying. Quite unusually, they play the secondary or even tertiary roles, supporting the oriental lusciousness of spiced woods. Incense comes into the heart with moss covered leather bringing composition to its crescendo all the while adding yet another coloured facet to those already at play. I can confidently say that until I tried the "Passion" I did not know that woods had so many different shades and notes. It made me feel like seeing a green titanite (sphene) gemstone for the first time - its incredible play of colours shifting from/between bright and intense green, yellow, orange, ochre and into the reddish brown. As the scent settles into the skin, woods and spices mellow, with vanilla and musk adding airy freshness and maintaining the delicate sweetness. The spices are piquant and golden, and perfectly in balance with all other notes. Civet and musk are unmistakably animalistic, however in an elegant and classic manner, neither overpowering nor creating any unpleasant associations. The "Passion" is a most ingeniously designed in a coherent, logical and seamlessly transitional manner, with depth and nuances so utterly captivating and unique. The scent is most certainly unisex and best suited for special occasions and events, although moderate application during the cooler months will be perfectly appropriate at the office or outside. I also found that this fragrance is a perfect layering companion for those who enjoy creating their own signatures. It goes amazingly well with white and yellow florals, red roses and fruity tobacco. It also anchors lighter notes very well and extends their projection and sillage. So one can compose its own character and passion for the world to see and admire with confidence and panache. "Passion" is a perfume about being true to one self, dedicated and in love with what one cares for and being able to stop the world in its tracks with admiration of fearless intensity of one's heart and mind.

Truly femme fatale in a bottle , a vampiric old Hollywood fragrance that smells super decadent and strong and is an all time favourite for me on date nights or clubs

I honestly can't wrap my head around why this bottle is constantly in the bargain bin for $20. It feels like a clerical error. If White Diamonds is my signature, Passion is my side piece. He has a BAD reputation. He stays out too late, smokes too much, and probably doesn't pay his bills. He is the one I call when the lights go down. This scent absolutely smells like you're on the hunt for a man and are probably carrying handcuffs and a riding crop. It opens with a big dose of aldehydes and gardenia. It's loud and floral. But the dry down settles into this dark, smoky, animalic mix of leather, incense, and civet. It's sweaty, spicy, and smells like a velvet smoking jacket found on the floor of a hotel room at 4 AM. Oh, how that sentence makes me miss the 90's, but I digress. I have received more compliments from both men and women while wearing this than anything else in my life. To give you an idea of the vibe, a dear friend of mine (who has absolutely no filter and loves a TMI story) spotted me out one night. As soon as she hugged me, she buried her face in my neck and blurted out: "You smell ABSOLUTELY SLUTTY. My god I'm in love!" If that isn't the highest form of praise, I don't know what is. Call it lucky body chemistry, or call it Elizabeth Taylor, the Patron Saint of TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH smiling down from heaven saying, "Well done, my good and faithful hussy!" This stuff just WORKS on me, and I'm so very glad it does.

it smells a bit like bug spray or hotel soap on my skin at first, but dries out and settles into a very pleasant powdery and smoky scent. the citrus scent threw me off a bit at first, but it’s very nicely balanced with the spicyness. pretty good especially for its price

I have a row of small bottles of vintage "drug store" perfumes on a shelf in a very old white metal mirrored medicine cabinet in one bathroom. I know it's not a great location for perfumes, but I put them there for snoopers to discover and I like the total look. I just sprayed on my Passion and it's still fresh and lovely, years later. I forget the dynamic top so it always surprises me, pleasantly.

Strong on initial spray so use lightly. Dry down softens to a musky, slightly spicy and exotic aroma. I have worn this for years and the best description/compliment I ever received was, it smells like heaven and cotton balls.

From a gift box of minis after reviewing ET’s fragrances, Passion blew my mind. Musky, skanky, wet saliva coated bodies in the wake of a boozy, cigarette smoked, dance filled all-nighter at Studio 54. Halter neck silk sheath and gold sandals strewn across on the floor. I get hardly any florals which is fine with me but I’m thinking the powder volume might be drowning them out on my skin. I can smell florals when I sniff the nozzle but not on my skin. I’m comfortable in this type of powdery, skanky, musky fragrance (MKK, Kiehls), and applied with a light hand they always attract compliments. I’d registered a similarity to something I already own but it wasn’t until my friend greeted me with a hug at the restaurant where we were meeting and said, “Oh you smell gorgeous, I don’t think you’ve worn that since we were in Paris?” Ahhhhhh, L’Air de Rien by Miller Harris. That’s what’s familiar. With the skank turned up. Immediately ordered two full sized bottles of Passion 🤣.

Are the older batches (in the old packaging) by EA fragrances very different, as compared to the original? Feel like I might have sampled this before, and it was nice, after the harsh opening. Just wondering if anyone knows.

I just signed up on this forum, but I’ve been reading your trusty reviews and detailed descriptions on fragrances for years. Just purchased Elizabeth Taylor’s EDT Passion. I love the fragrance. Not certain how long it lasts on the skin yet, but I only sprayed twice on my arm. Totally enjoy this fragrance. I’ve never read reviews on any forum, that are as beautifully written as the ones here. You are a group of wordsmiths! I feel as if I’m reading a good novel!

I got this as a gift, I love Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds and Diamonds and Rubies but never had Passion. This is definitely its own beast! Dark, sultry and unapologetic. I was enthralled on first spray, she evolves with you. Her cloud envelopes and follows you. The dry down is more subtle but very alluring. It's the mysterious Aunt of Dior Poison and Youth Dew. She has definitely fallen into my favourites, a timeless classic to my nose and those who love bold 80s rich scents with a little intrigue will love this!
