This was my signature scent back around 2008. A great fruitchouli from that time period. Deep, warm and yummy with some floral touches, and some spice to make it even more complex. Very addictive. Though I wore it daily it was date night to me as well. It was strong, but definitely not as loud as Angel, not as much patchouli as that. I wouldn't trust any samples or bottles to smell true to the beauty it was back then.
I’ve managed to find a 30ml sealed box of this. 1st spray I wanted to cry. No resemblance to what I remember from 15 years ago, it smelt very VERY old lady. Let it dry down for 20 mins and now it’s resembling what I remember. The memories are flooding back!
It could be because my mother's had this full bottle sitting on her dresser since 2007, but the strawberry and pomegranate transform to a plum-like scent and the base notes melt into powdery territory. Instead of Fruity Gourmand, it smells like a Soft Powdery Floral. It's pretty nice.
I bought a sample and unfortunately I didn't notice it's discontinued. It reminds me of Angel a lot, but it's not so strong and aggresive. I really love Angel but I save it only for special occasions. This perfume is also very sweet, full, patchouli, matching exactly my style. Sillage and longevity are amazing. I bet I'll smell it from my hair even after washing :)
I just got a bottle of this for a good price and I love it. It's very gourmand-y, and i think this would sell very well if this were released now, since sweet fruity scents are much more popular now. Unfortunately, this one seemed to be discontinued rather quickly after it's release in 2007. If you are a sweet perfume lover and can find a sample or a bottle at an inexpensive price, this is definitely worth it.
Wow, I’ve read all these reviews saying the scent of strawberry is strong. On me it’s more patchouli and woody, like a men’s cologne. I like it when the weather is hot. All I need is one spray for all day. I get lots of compliments. I guess it’s body chemistry.
Imagine a "hippie" at a summer festival with a basket of strawberries and caramel covered marshmallows and flowers. She's weaing patchouli, and the breeze is blowing this combined scent..... Ah, summer.
This was one of only 2 or 3 fragrances I owned for a good chunk of my teenage years, so it undeniably holds an attraction from me purely from the memories it invokes. I expected to find it saccharine now, having gone sharply off fruity florals and most sweet scents at the tail end of my teens, but upon rediscovering my old bottle at my parents house, I was surprised to find it far less cloying than I find the majority of contemporary fruity florals, especially for a perfume with such notes as marshmallow and caramel - notes I run far away from now. It may just be the nostalgia speaking, but I find this an unusually well balanced fruitchouli.
Pardon my French— This smells like someone trying to disguise cigarette smoke by covering it in strawberry margarita vomit. Oh and freesias. There. I said it.
scent : 6/10 sillage : 8/10 longevity :8/10 100% night fragrance too feminine for me patchouli scent
The opening smells like Angel. Its very strong and medicinal. When it dries down, I smell flowers... maybe Jasmine. Its not my favorite. I think its a little masculine. I prefer the 2019 Angel EDT though. The only reason why I bought this years ago is bec I was looking for a perfume similar to Miss Dior Cherie.
A little oddity, a balanced fruitchouli delicious enough to induce a sweet tooth but not sugary enough that the tooth fairy needs to be called in to pick it up. A garden strawberry-patch, leafy green and organic brown sugar caramel hinting at informal garden tea parties instead of the Willy Wonka with halitosis and cotton candy stalking you in the parking lot of LVEB. If you like smart gourmands and cheeky yummychoulis give this one a ride.
I was just going to write "how can this not be as popular as LVEB?" when I read just below that "it is a baby of LVEB... ". Nope, it's not since it came out a number of years before LVBE! This is smoother than LVEB, but yes, similar, mostly in style. Strawberry and caramel are prominent notes, but more than anything I smell a very nice heliotrope (and no iris here as in LVEB). Pleasures Delight is very lovely and full of berries and sugary things. but lily of the valley and green notes keeps it from being daft. It's an attractive, cosy scents with rose and flirty pomegranate being obvious as well as naturally a quite nice amount of patchouli.
It’s a baby of the Angel and LVEB. It can be named Angel Dessert. I actually hate both Angel and LVEB. How EL was able to take two of my most hated perfumes and make a baby? And strangely enough I like it more than Angel and LVEB. Not sure who would wear it. It’s actually pretty complex scent, smelling pretty expensive, but seems outdated now. I think it is actually a landmark scent. It was after Angel and before LVEB. Seems if it was issued 5-10 years later it would have a commercial success. I got it accidentally and now it goes for sale. But I want to say “it was good to meet you”. EDIT: seems my consciousness is not in sync with my unconsciousness: when I was writing above my rationale thinking was "it is not my cup of tea": I do not like gourmands, sweets and Angel. But my low brain had a constant flashbacks about this perfume after I sold it. So - I bought it again. It is thick boozy strawberry-vanilla-marshmallow with patchouli base adding the spiciness and freshness together. It also has a vintage vibe! It makes me intoxicated.
This is another vintage I found in an antique store❤️ When I come across vintage scents, I feel like I've struck gold haha. I've reviewed this before, and said that it was more of a night scent, But I've changed my outlook on it. It's a perfect autumn day scent, Although, when I spray 2-3 spritz I cannot smell a thing.. Today I went with a BIG 12 sprays, I can smell it perfectly now. It's very strawberry-ish with patch-caramel. Has spice in there too. Not a bad scent.
I have not read all the reviews here, but judging from a few whilst ‘scrolling’ it’s clear we all have very different olfactory senses. My bottle has been well stored in its box in a dark wardrobe and I use it occasionally. It’s toward the end of summer now (27 deg C) and I’ve been wearing this during the day several times this week. First sprays I definitely get liquorice. Very similar to Lolita Lempicka or Gucci 1966. Same vibe, but this changes after an hour or so into a deep floral fruity gourmand, quite beautiful. The longer it stays on my skin the more beautiful it becomes. It lasts 8 hours on my skin, more on clothes. When My husband comments on how good I smell, I know the perfume is a keeper.
This was a perfume gifted to me by mother for my high school graduation. This is another perfume I miss. I believe the combination of gourmand mixed with patchouli has been a theme of scents I have loved. I thought the last power of this one was amazing; I would love to see it make a return.
This was my signature during my early-mid 20s. :) In hindsight I think I was just determined to have a signature and wore it to death, when really it's the kind of scent that feels to me like it has a very definite time and place (cool, grey day; indoors). I get a big cloud of patchouli and caramel on opening that feels luxurious and a little heady, very warm -- it doesn't actually smell like coffee of course, but it's that same feeling you get smelling fresh-brewed espresso. After that it turns into a lovely golden bakery, brightly lit with glowing lamps, trays of patisserie and pots of berry jam and marmalade on every table. It's caramelly, but in that Jersey caramels way rather than true caramel. I get a gently fresh note from the strawberry (or pomegranate?) that keeps the whole thing from going syrupy. The dry down is patchouli and caramel again, lovely and soft without being cloying. ETA: I originally got this because I fell in love with Miss Dior Cherie but couldn't afford that. I do think there are strong similarities. :)
It's a freezing cold night, as I lay here in bed. Tonight I wore pleasures delight, I'm totally getting the caramel, strawberry, marshmallow & patchouli. It's yummy, but not in a gourmand way. This smells mature. Has a slight spicy vibe to it, which I actually like. Haven't got much else to say about it. I'm enjoying it. And it's definitely a night scent in my opinion. Who knows, I might try it tomorrow when I head out shopping. I'd like to see if it'll smell any different during the day. Update :) I wore this, and went about doing my shopping. But couldn't smell much of it, the weather was cool, it stuck around for an hour or two. I think I'll be more happy wearing it at night times. All in all, pleasures delight is a gorgeous scent.
Okay, I guess I'm finally ready to do my review now after trying and re-trying this for over a month. I blind-bought it based on the notes and reviews here and I was confident that it would smell a certain way because it's listed as "Floral Fruity Gourmand." I was expecting a warmer, bolder, more ooey-gooey strawberry + caramel + marshmallow scent, more sugary sweetness. I wanted it to be like BonBon or Candy, just in-your-face with the sweet gourmandness. But this is way more subdued and chill. To me, this is like one of those gourmet, artisanal, small-batch, handmade, vegan, organic, sugar-free, couture strawberry marshmallows that you only find in places like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. And it is very sugar-free. There IS a sweetness to it, but I can compare it to the aspartame sweetness of a diet soda. It's very powdery, and the powder reminds me of Bazooka Joe bubble gum (a bland, powdery-sweet, pale pink gum that doesn't have the strawberry-banana based pink bubble gum taste that we normally associate with pink gum. Or maybe a very 'lite' version of it.) Anyway maybe I'm muddling this up with too many comparisons so long story short: pale pink very powdery, faintly strawberry grown-up marshmallow scent. More decorative than edible. I'd say barely gourmand unless we want to include chewing gum as food. I don't hate it but I'm glad I bought the smallest size. I would not have bought it at all had I smelled it first. Hopefully it blossoms more in the summer, if if does, I'll come here and update this.
I bought Pleasures Delight for the marshmallow, strawberry, and caramel notes. I get some evergreen and spices notes around the edges that remind me of winter holidays. There is a lot of Angel-like patchouli in there. However, I find a small amount of Pleasures Delight in the crook of my arm to be cozy, cuddley, and delight-ful. A good casual, relaxing at-home fragrance especially in cold weather.
This one is veering towards the ANGEL territory by Mugler. I am not sure if anybody will agree with me but to me it smells like the younger sister. Definitely more gourmand than floral fruity. The fruity notes are quite fleeting (they are usually there to hook you in), the flowery notes a little bit tame, but the caramel and patchouli do give it an ANGEL vibe. I got a bit of a headache with just 2 squirts in wintertime (okay the heater was cranked up),so maybe 1 spray will do in summertime (if you are so inclined). Although I seldom wear this, it is very well done (both young and not so young can wear this). If like me you cannot wear ANGEL for some reason (but I love it on somebody) give this a try, you will not be disappointed plus longevity is very, very good.
I discovered this (I think along with most people) in the pages of magazines, and I could not stop smelling it. This Pleasures flanker does not stand up well, though. It expired long before my other bottles of Pleasures even though I kept it out of the light. All of the sweetness went sickly and the patchouli was so intense that it made it unwearable. I regret purchasing this one, and I think it's discontinued now... for good reason. When it was fresh and good it smelled like marshmallow, berries, meringue, and patchouli. This could be Estee Lauder's first gourmand. I want to say it was, and they haven't really ventured into that territory since then.
Pleasures Delight truly is a delightful perfume! I remember sniffing it several times at the perfume counter many years ago, though I never got around to buying a bottle. Fast forward to present day and I finally bought a bottle of this happy-go-lucky perfume. Sure, it's sweet, but it's so warm, inviting and cozy. It's fun and girly; sometimes I like that combo. On my skin, I get the patchouli, marshmallow, caramel and vanilla along with some of the fruity notes, I can smell strawberry the most though. I don't get any of the floral notes at all. If they're there, I don't smell them at all on me. It's an interesting mix of notes that comes off gourmand, but not too sweet; the patchouli does darken it up a bit and gives it depth. I think this is quite wearable for fall, winter and spring when you need a pick-me-up from the short, cold days of winter and you're ready for everything to bloom in the spring. Pleasure Delight is an antidepressant in perfume form. Very lovely!
As I've mentioned before, most estee lauder perfumes are a bit difficult to find where I live only way to buy them is ordering online and without a single test, after pleasures bloom's successful blind buy,I started to think about delight and at last decided to put my hands on a 3.4 bottle but to be honest I didn't thing this was a right decision, since I've heard delight has similarities with angel TM which turns to a horrible bitter cacao, patchouli combo on my skin,a powerful brownish beast that looks like men's cologne(my skin chemistry and some fruitchouli fragrances are great enemies) Today I recieved delight,oh boy, this is gorgeous!and there is no chemistry battles accuring here It's sweet and I'm into sween perfumes, but it's sweetness isn't cloying, syrupy and sticky, sweet notes(marshmallow, vanilla, caramel and sugar)are dominant but none of them overpowers and covers other ingredients Fruity notes(strawberry and pomegranate)show up within the initial blast, but they are not sticky rotten fruits, not even sour, they appear just as I wished..florals are not detectable to my nose as dominant notes, but for sure they are there, preventing delight from becoming a fruity sugary desert, and at last I should mention patch, which becomes dominant during dry down and balances sweetness perfectly without ruining the overall combination Delight is one of rare sweet scents that I can use around year,it's young, colorful and playful without being only proper for teens,I find it a mixture of sweet gourmands and delicate fruity florals, very well made and balanced,I can wear my sweet, delicious delight without turning to a walking candy or without feeling like a mature woman wearing her daughter's shirt,so this is exactly what I've been looking for Longevity is really great like other ELs and sillage is good too, less than angel but enough for me This is a must try for sweet scent fans, even if you hate angel you may love this ❤❤❤❤ Edit :Now that I've tested angel rose,I agree with below comment, there are similarities between ELPD and angel rose, both tend to be sweet notes+patchouli+delightful fruity notes(rose turns to a fruit note, something like strawberry in angel rose)
Absolutely adorable! Strawberries mixed with marshmallows and patchouli give a smillar effect to Angel la Rose, but Pleasures Delight is more flirty and cheeky than Mugler's perfume. Perfect scent for pin-up outfits or dancing in the big champange glass... One of my favourites for spring and summer.
I have no idea why estee lauder hates me so much. I have both a sample and a mini of this and tried wearing them a few times and it always smells like burnt plastic. I have not had the mini or the sample a long time and doubt they've turned. I have nothing against gourmand notes, these florals, or patchouli. I am baffled, confused, and quite possibly horrified. I've had problems with several of estee lauder's scents.
i love this perfume, smells like angel.
I found a bottle of this online and was so excited to receive it because the notes seem like they are everything I adore in a scent. It is just as sweet and girly and delicious as I had hoped. My only disaapointment is that I wish it were stronger. I sprayed it on my wrist about 20 minutes ago and can baret detect it now.
Pleasures Delight is such a delicious and addictive scent! Sweet sugary strawberries, pink Marshmallow topped with a boozy sugar syrup surrounded by flirty florals and Patchouli basically sums up this fragrance. It is a yummy desert without it being too foody. A sugary treat to lift your moods :) It lasts a long time on my skin and the longer it is on my skin, the more scrumptious it becomes!
