Frustration

Gorgeous fragrance It’s a boozy,spicy,nutty and a bit smoky vanilla I can mostly smell the rum,vanilla and chestnut notes It gets milkier in the dry-down and almost smells like a hazelnut latte(little to no coffee tho), I also get hints of peanut butter Reminds me of a fancy hotel lobby, very cozy and perfect for the colder seasons

opens so safe, designer almost, verging on boring. alcoholic vanilla, synthetic luxury tang. and then it turns smooth, pulled back by a mysterious woody earthiness. a vanilla smell complicated by too many pieces of notes to accurately describe. lasted on the quicker side of moderate longevity. but maybe the best part was the linger, where you get this biological, familiar foodiness. "it's the cumin" the people say! sweaty! bodily! but there's something more complicated there! don't let your experience be so simple! or maybe my skin chemistry just partnered well. I wore this to go see a bad romcom (alone) at a fancy mall. I wore my ugliest glasses, my unfriendliest cropped babydoll tee, and my cuntiest brown jeans. I sweated in the summer heat. this fragrance was somehow the perfect companion for that. I kept getting whiffs of something strangely familiar while I was falling asleep. an interesting journey that I look forward to trying in cooler weather sometime.

the only way i can describe this is nicole dollanganger🤤🤤❤️❤️❤️vanilla in a “sweet but not so innocent” type of way. send me 50 full bottles NOW! the only frustration i have about this is that i ordered a sample and not a full bottle

A very dense sweetness. However, balanced out by quite prominent chestnut, rum and cumin notes. One of the most interesting and unique gourmands out there in my opinion. Definitely needs sampling first.

Goodness me ELdO’s narrative for this perfume does get a bit carried away with itself! It’s their characteristic way of going about things I suppose. Words aside what can we smell here? It’s a boozy (rum allegedly) gourmand with a delicious vanillic nutty note and a sprinkle of cinnamon and cumin (which, thankfully, does not lean into body odour. I started with a tester and enjoyed it enough to invest in a 100ml bottle. Longevity, despite the rich profile, however, is surprisingly poor. It’s a Autumn/Winter fragrance for me.

Blindly ordered. Well, I just hope it will grow on me in the Autumn. I get mostly chestnut, some vanilla. Honestly, I don't smell any other note. Luckily that is what I was expecting, except I wish it was more boozy (don't get rum). But the frustration about this one is the sillage. I thought it would be detectable from meters from me, but it is about arm lenght at maximum. Although longevity is quite good. So hopefully as I am going to wear more often in colder Autumn or even Winter days it will grow on me and the maceration makes it better until than. It is a more male fragrance but females can wear it too. Don't expect sweetness from vanilla only a minimal. On discounter price it is acceptable, on full price I would not buy for its performance.

Well, the best part of this is naming. Experience I had was really frustrating. Burnt plastic, synthetic nuts, overall nauseating.

Ruined by a burnt, nutty profile. I had high hopes for the vanilla base in Frustration, but this one didn't pan out. My first impression was that while the vanilla has that rich, heavy essential oil vibe, it is quickly overtaken by a very specific and off-putting burnt, nutty accord—specifically, roasted chestnut. After a full wear, my opinion actually soured further. While the base itself is technically rich, the composition is completely ruined for me by that aggressive, charred nuttiness. I have a strong aversion to heavy nutty profiles in fragrance, and this was instantly unwearable on my skin. If you love a darker, roasted gourmand, you might find something to like here, but if you’re looking for a smooth, pure vanilla, steer clear of this one. Note: I don't actually own this fragrance; I am writing this review based on my experience with the official Etat Libre d'Orange discovery set.

perfect name, this perfume smells like bottled sexual frustration and I can’t get enough. After first spraying it, it immediately filled my head and left me dazed in a sick but pleasurable way. After drying down, it’s smooth, nutty, and sweet, but it retains its spice really well. Adore this, can’t wait to get my hands on a full bottle

i like this more than i’d expect it to. reminds me of the bridge between autumn and winter. warm, nutty and smooth with quiet boozy facets that don’t sour the smell at all. the vanilla is sort of velvety and natural, i find this to be very appealing

On initial spray, it smells like pure peanut butter but after an hour it slowly blends with the other elements and becomes a lovely warm vanilla scent, it’s not loud and doesn’t project much but it lasts 10 hours+ on my skin

This fragrance shares a similar DNA with Zadig & Voltaire "This Is Her", and that one has never been among my favorites. The combination of vanilla and chestnut is where it loses me - feels oddly overwhelming to my nose rather than comforting. It's a definite pass from me. 3/10, the only Frustration i can feel is buying the fragrance in the first place.

Right off the spray, smells EXACTLY like peanut brittle. Kind of reminds me of Naughty Nonna by Snif. Then it starts smelling a little burnt and smoky and the rum starts to come out. I like it but the resemblance to peanut brittle is offputting.

Frustration lives up to its name much better than it should. I'm not the target audience for this fragrance, as I don't usually like perfumes that feature vanilla prominently, so I'll stick to a few points that might help those who are curious: - The chestnut/vanilla balance is tricky. It will appeal to fans of wintery gourmand scents, but I found it uncomfortable that it was never truly chestnut, never truly vanilla. It's a constant ambiguity, and my brain, identifying mirages of the two star notes, desperately tried to lie down onto one of these scents without ever quite succeeding. This is probably intentional, but it was tiring for me. - I found the ELDO signature a little more diluted than usual. Even though Frustration is less over-the-top and more refined than Kay Ali, for exemple, it's still a rather imposing, rounded gourmand. - Its chestnut side is much more pronounced towards the end of the cycle, about 7 hours after application. - Finally, contrary to what I read below, I find Frustration much more cloying than Fat Electrician, having loved the latter. In Fat Electrician, the resinous aspect brought a vintage freshness to the composition. Here, despite the hardly noticeable presence of labdanum, the resin is so well integrated into the composition that this facet is undetectable. Therefore, I recommend this fragrance to gourmand fans who are looking for refinement in this olfactory genre, which tends to overemphasize its vanilla notes.

Rum vanille, chestnut, and a hint of cinnamon. Beautiful blend. Just sexy, nutty, creamy, boozy, warm, cozy, gorgeous scent with smooth blend and balance. Good longitivity and sillage, unisex and unique. I love this one. Edit: yes it does resemble SWY but this has more of the smooth nutty note.

i remember it was one of the first samples i’d ever gotten when i first started to seriously get into fragrance. rip etiket in montréal, you were everything and more. it’s not a bad fragrance, but it’s not a fragrance for me. when i first smelt it on paper, it was like the smell receptors were working and then a door made of nuts were slammed onto my nose and made stop breathing for a split second. just nose full of nuts. indeed made me feel frustrated, but sample was acquired for that reason. it’s vanilla forward, lil boozy and chestnutty, but the chestnut is like if a peanut wanted to be a chestnut. reminds me of winter season, cookies, and feels like the cutie cool gf to “by the fireplace” by margiela.

This is solid. It’s a warm vanilla-forward nutty gourmand. It’s not particularly complex but it has a really nice depth. On my skin I get a bit of leather that is really pleasant. I just find it pulls a little too sweet for my liking. Sometimes it smells a little peanutty to me.

ELDO's chestnut notes really do smell a little peanut-y to me, but this scent is great. boozy, nutty, and sweet without the cloying funk fat electrician has.

I was given a large sample of this along with a few other ELDO fragrances, but this was the only one I lost, could say I'm frustrated. This was my favorite, smells like a fancy peanut butter Reese Cup meant for nobles at a King's ball.

This is actually a really nice fragrance. It’s a “light” gourmand, perfect for fall or early spring. It’s smooth and blended so well that no single notes just jumps out and commands attention. Probably perfect for someone that does not like traditional gourmands, but wants to dabble in that world. It’s just a smooth slightly spice vanilla journey. I don’t pick up a lot of the rum notes, which is both disappointing, but it also makes it a little safer for some.

You enter an old luxurious bar, you take place at a stool, there's the sounds of a fireplace and the warmth of it but you can not find it, the outside is cold, this is the first true cold day of autumn, a stark contrast to the never-ending summer that lasted long enough for you to relish this cold. The wood furniture around you pairs well with the warmth. "What can I get you ?" You're not sure, you shrugg "Surprise me ! " A crystal glass slides in front of you, you recognize rum, it's so strong it attacks your throat just by smelling it...But then, something comes to soothe your senses, a mix of chestnut and vanilla, not sugary but lactonic, you take a sip. You grimace first, the alcohol burns your throat, it's taste barely detectable, when the burn calms down, you can smell the chestnut on your lips. You look around, the bar is almost empty, the scents around you settle into a clean but spicy scent, the barman approches you, his cologne graces your nose. "So ?"

I actually really like this one, it's a very mature gourmand, still sweet, vanilla-y but spicy [more cinnamon spicy than pepper spicy] boozy, smoky, nutty. it kinda reminds me of marrons glacés. very autumn/winter vibes, really cozy and nostalgic, this is one of those smells that takes me back to end of autumn/winter holidays as a french kid, when the adults would have their afternoon snack and pull out boxes of marrons glacés paired with a liquor or cognac, or smelling those roasted chestnuts at christmas markets

Aptly named. I am indeed full of Frustration that this creative house, an early niche treasure and a favourite of mine since it launched continues to churn out such mediocrity in its current era. And in a fancy extra pricey bottle to boot! This is an awkward scent, nothing sits right with it. Gaggy smoke, cloying candle gourmand, handwaving at traditional masc notes and.. sour.

this is sweet i like. idk to me its very plummy-figgy so sweet so rich. might be a bit too mature for me.

The first time I smelled this one I thought it was a strong, thick vanilla with some spices. Good, but nothing with a wow factor. I had high hopes for vetiver and chestnut and that was the only things I really looked forward to when I had the opportunity to smell it on my skin. But when I finally got to try it on my skin, I was disappointed in myself for nothing trying it sooner. The vanilla is slightly spicy, but it transforms quickly on my skin. Rum, cinnamon, something green almost like a hint of pine tree but with a sweetness from the chestnut that almost gets as round and sweet as a hazelnut. The nuttiness gets to a quality that could remind me ever so slightly as chocolate and something else that I really struggle to grasp. And in that moment, I feel like I understand the fragrance; ‘Frustration’. Even though I was a bit indifferent to actually trying this one out I am really surprised by it. I am usually a bit bored by the spicy vanilla genre, and feel like it is a bit used up in a way. But it just took me a couple minutes of skin wear before that warm cinnamon drizzle, nutty goodness of a gourmand got to me, and it is almost a perfume I would consider putting on my to-buy-list!

An adult fragrance to go to some special evening in a corduroy dress. Sweet, warm.

Nuts vanilla cinnamon. and it does smell just like that in a natural beautiful way. absolute banger of a fragrance

This opens up quiet sharp (but maybe i oversprayed a little). on the first initial spray i didnt really like the cumin accord but thats faded quiet quicky. It starts off a bit too sweet for me but that sweetness also settles down after a couple of minutes. The opening is this warm spicy and very chestnutty scent with a slight smoke accord and a pronounced cumin note. Cinnamon in the background. When it dries down it loses the smokeyness a bit. After a while this very soothing powdery vanilla comes through. And the cinnamon gets more to the fore .Very cosy scent. I like that it isnt a sticky gourmand at all it actually quiet dry. And to me its perfectly unisex, i love wearing this as a man but could really see a woman wear this. Overall a very good cosy winter/fall scent. 7,8/10
