Since I tried my sample of this, I can't think about any other fragrance. I think about the smell all the time and I physically crave smelling it. To me, its absolute perfection. Its fresh but not bitter or cold. Its juicy but not tutti fruity. Its floral but in a youthful and modern way. I am beyond obsessed. I have been trying to not wear it because I wanted this to be my wedding perfume, and I wanted to preserve the holiness of the scent memories... but I keep cheating and putting it on my favorite hoodie because sniffing it is my drug.
This is absolutely a grown up version of Britney Spear's Curious and I love it.
I SO wanted to love this one. The notes listed are 100% in my lane, but somehow it all adds up incorrectly, and turns into a screechy, sharp, condensed cleaning product or fabric softener smell. I normally love clean laundry and fresh floral type fragrances, but this is a total miss. Strange how some perfumes sound perfect on paper, but just don't translate in person. On the other hand, I ordered a sampler set from Ex Nihilo and thought Fleur Narcotique would be the star... but I also sampled Lust in Paradise, and that one IS a true love! The peony-lychee-fresh-florals in Lust in Paradise are softer, greener, and far more pleasant to my nose.
I don't get the hype to be honest. yes it smells clean, fruity opening, feels like old elegant woman. I guess the flowers are kind of bitter for me. The scent kind of reminds me of a bathroom air refreshner on a luxury spa
For the opening, I get fruit captain. Then it dries down to smell like Valaya. There is a strange stink about it though, I cannot describe it but I am not a fan.
Surprisingly faint and a bit too synthetic smelling for me. But it wafts beautifully which is something I really appreciate in a fragrance and which is hard to find. Like a soft cloud dancing around you. Just a pity that I do not like the actual smell.
This is that feeling…that you get when spring/summer is coming and everything will be warm and brigth again- bottled. I wear it almost as signature scent. It makes my mornings better. Syllage is low, but lasts a lot on skin and clothes. I smell it during the whole day.
I love the scent. I’ve over sprayed and still this don’t last. Returning. For the price this perfume needs better performance.
I got this as a free sample of a friend and when I sniffed it in the vial I didn’t like it and was sat in my drawer for weeks, until I decided to give it a try on skin and wow… it’s absolutely gorgeous! Fresh, bright yet creamy and soft. A perfect feminine summer fragrance. Only down side is it doesn’t last long and I’m tired of spending a pretty penny on fragrances that don’t perform
This perfume is just iconic. Compliments every time I wear it. Such an easy reach and suitable for every occasion
Sampled it few times and it really smells like something from Anna Sui to me . Pleasant perfume, but wasn’t a hit for me.
This has never happened to me before but when I sprayed my sample on paper, I was hit with emotion that brought tears to my eyes. I thought of every strong, loving female role model in my life. My love for this scent thankfully also translates to my skin as well. It just does something to me emotionally that is indescribable. British Bake Off is my comfort show and this is a fragrance Prue Leith would wear and real ones will know that’s a high compliment, not anything to do with her age.
Quentin Bisch just copy-paste the same scent 4 times and changed them only slightly. If you are choosing between these four airy white floral scents, here is the breakdown: Neroli Amara: Choose this if you want a bright, citrusy, and effervescent scent. More casual and airy, less sweet. Fleur Narcotique: Choose this if you want a slightly more citrus-fruity profile. More elegant and airy. Valaya: Choose this if you prefer a clean, musky, "laundry-fresh" scent. More intimate and slightly more powdery, but still light. (For me a person that doesn't like aldehydes and musk this is still into the fresh white floral category, so the switch is subtile and only in comparison to the other 3 scents) Ciel Magnolia: Choose this if you want something heavier, denser, slightly powdery and slightly more sweet it's somehow similar to Delina, it's like it has also spices, but without the rose. Less airy. (But still not cloying sweet)
Why does the top notes of this scent fragrance feel like a spicy sensation that stings my nose? Does anyone else feel it too?
I decided to try it because it was advertised for being intense. To my surprise, I barely smell it at all from the start. I don’t know if I’ve gone nose-blind , but all I get is a very light skin scent. I can tell it uses high-quality ingredients , it doesn't smell 'cheap' or synthetic, and I mostly pick up on the peach , but that’s about it. Honestly, If I had money to burn, maybe, but for that kind of price, i am not buying something so faint. i agree with the review there is nothing narcotic about this
It’s one of the perfumes that I can’t stand on me, but appreciate on others. My mom uses this, my younger sister likes this, but for my nose it’s just too sharp(?)
An interesting one. I can see where both the beautiful comments and the ‘detergent’ ones come from. Likewise the similarity to Valaya (though this is much more wearable than PDM to me). An hour in and I was mildly obsessed but the floral sweetness and creaminess dissipate too quickly. It’s grown up but not ‘old’, citrusy, quietly unisex after being on skin for an hour. 4 hours in and it’s an Earl Grey, grapefruity bergamot tea bomb. Am not getting the pink girlie vibes at all some of you feel. Too unisex for me. It’s a very subtle, clean, non-screechy freshie. Could be very good on a man. Something about it reminds me of CK One moving to CK Be? All in a like, intriguing, but just nowhere near FB worthy - especially at the price - unless you like a very refined tea scent.
mom's lipstick that 9-year-old you stole from her makeup bag while she wasn’t home + peony with lychee’s sourness. I want to bathe in this perfume
Not blind-buy safe imo. A bit overpriced for what it is and turned super sour on my skin so sample first! Great pick for the femme clean girlies, just not for me.
This is the most boring and generic perfume I ever smelled. Also, one of the weakest.
I'd say this is one of my all time favourite jasmine-centric fragrances. Big statement I know. I've come to learn that there is not really any such thing as gender in perfumery and Fleur Narcotique by Ex-Nihilo is a great example of that in practice. The opening is succulent peach, lychee and almost creamy bergamot set against a carefree floral heart of heady jasmine, peony, orange blossom and I think some neroli. The focus is on how the citruses work entwined with the florals and the blending is characteristically superb from Ex-Nihilo here. I love how it is fresh, clean and vibrant but never overly sweet. The base is some white musk, some Ambroxin and some pale woods; I think cedar or birch, but not very aromatic. They are here solely to provide some longevity to the main event. The effect is take this slightly powdery, but again not in a cloying or overly feminine way. It doesn't feel over-engineered or synthetic at all but is quite linear in the drydown as the jasmine stays in longer than everything else. It is an extremely well done simple thing done with surprising intricacy. This is the sort of floral that us guys could and I think should be wearing in a non-ironic way. It is big, powerful, assertive and confident and not subtle, but at the same time refined and attractive. There is something cool and aspirational about that. If you have the confidence to pull something like this off then it will reward you handsomely because it isn't cliched and the projection is gorgeous. I get a decent 6 hours off this which for a fruity floral is incredible, and I understand the Extrait version is even better. I really recommend you try this one on skin because it is a lot more interesting and unisex than the notes may infer on paper. Layering Suggestion: layering floral-centric fragrances is tough and this one is because it is so well blended. I'd recommend something with more jasmine and perhaps a little osmanthus or tuberose but some deeper woody notes to accentuate what is already here. Marfa by MEMO Paris springs to mind as the florals are white and very strong and robust, whilst the woods are similar in profile but a bit deeper and richer. Gents Outfit/Watch Suggestion: This is summer in a bottle. I'm thinking a tan, fitted tapered trousers and a crisp brilliant white shirt, your best no sock penny loafers, an IWC Portugueser on a leather strap and tortoiseshell designer Wayfarer style sunglasses. Three Word Summary: Unisex Fruity Florals Scent - 8/10 Drydown - 7/10 Sillage - 8/10 Bottle/packaging - 7/10 Performance - 9/10 39/50 Thanks for reading, @thenewnose
Nearly identical to Levant by Ormonde Jayne in the air, I can only smell slight differences if I'm directly comparing both. There is a slight fishy smell, unsure what is causing that. I still really enjoy wearing it. it's uplifting and very girly.
the way I adored these notes, bottle and the perfume on the blotter just for it to turn into air freshener scent on my skin
Extremely musky right from the beginning. It smells strongly to me of flowers, musk, and a woody chocolate accord (though no chocolate is listed).
Stunning fresh floral. Has definite presence without being beast mode like Guidance. I enjoy this scent in spring and less humid parts of the summer.
Dry down is very similar to Valaya. I like this one. Overpriced though
very charming ,bright floral with my favorite jasmine note. Definitely lots of peach and lichi.A little soury at the end and musky. Way to go for a daily walk on summer days.
Love this juicy, fruity, floral fragrance. It’s bright and addictive. Great for warm weather.
This is very much a Valaya’s summer friendly sister and although I own Valaya I’m getting this too as they are both different enough to work. The citrus in Valaya is a little screechy, Valaya is then a musky floral with a cosy sweater type vibe. This, the citrus is juicy, bright and sticks around longer than valayas. This drys down to a white floral with a bit of fresh juicy fruit and minimal musk. This is definitely more appropriate for warmer weather and lasts well without being overpowering.
I’m in love with it! Definitely a clean-girl scent with a little bit of sharpness that adds attitude to the floral fruity scent. I like it! I disagree with calling it a common scent profile. The vibe is quite unique.
