i appreciate this cologne just for the atomiser alone, its so good. fresh and warm + reasonable longevity. does hit you initially with a strong alcohol smell but goes away to reveal warmth and almost floral. its surprisingly nice.
I have had this on a shelf for a few years. I have tried it on and off, and the bottom line is it is a bit naff, in a similar vein to Boss bottled Tonic but not as good. This is a pleasant scent however. This does not project, it's a skin scent. It's masculine leaning clean fragrance, that smells like it has cheap compounds in it (and there's nothing wrong with that), slightly harsh opening but by no means over the top. It would make a good first scent or perhaps something where you don't really want anything other than feeling slightly clean. I compared it to Boss Bottled Tonic, but it is not the same, just in that ballpark of scent. BBT is thicker, a bit sexier as scents tend to go, but is also mostly a close skin scent. Woody, clean, slightly sweet at the start. The type of scent people go anosmic to when wearing, but it's still there when others are close. It lasts an hour or two, which is about right for a generic clean skin scent. You can safely spray this 6-8 times and no have to worry about drowning in scent. Fresh light scents are fine, just don't go spraying it 30 times. As it's a car brand, and a fancy one at that, people might try and big it up more than it needs. It's an okay scent that does a job. For the price, there are so many middle eastern fragrances that run circles around scents like this, but as a stocking filler it does a good job. This is the type of thing you see in sale bins or at Christmas in little packs with deodorant etc. In fact, it's probably slightly better than a lynx body spray, but does not touch some of the slightly heavier low end designers it is perhaps trying to compete with. This scent can be work pretty much any time, but probably shines the most during late spring and summer. In winter it would just get lost amongst everything, but it's not built to be heavy and sweet, or even Oudy. Spray the clothes and the skin with this one.
straight up apple lasts 30 minutes ig atomizer sucks
It smells good! Fruity opening and pleasant mid drying down into a Terry's chocolate orange coziness. Strong for a couple of hours then close to skin fading out around hour 6. Smell 7/10, performance 5 at best.
Great smell, performance is WANK. Unless mine is knock off, you can barely smell it on you! 6 sprays on body, 4 on the shirt. Abysmal. Aptly, gone in sixty seconds. They'd be better off taking it off the market frankly!
I think Ferrari Black smell heavier than Boss Bottled. I love it as well.
Ferrari Black is an accessible and crowd-pleasing fragrance that delivers more than its price tag suggests. With its well-structured composition, it provides a smooth olfactory journey that feels timeless and versatile, yet not groundbreaking. Let's break down its scent profile, and then dive into an interesting comparison with Parfums de Marly's Althair. The opening is vibrant and fruity, with the crisp sweetness of red apple and plum balanced by the tangy zest of lime and bergamot. It’s a bright and inviting start that captures attention but never feels overpowering. As the fragrance transitions, warm cinnamon and aromatic cardamom take center stage, lending a spicy dimension. These are softened by delicate floral accents of jasmine and rose, which provide depth without leaning too powdery or overly feminine. The heart feels well-rounded, warm, and slightly cozy. The dry-down is where Ferrari Black shines, offering a classic combination of creamy vanilla and soft musk, supported by amber's warmth and cedar's subtle woodiness. The base anchors the composition, giving it a smooth, comforting finish with decent longevity for its price range. Ferrari Black is a mass-appealing fragrance that thrives in casual and professional settings, ideal for those who prefer something low-key yet charming. However, while it smells great, it doesn’t push creative boundaries. Comparison with Parfums de Marly Althair Althair by Parfums de Marly has been touted as one of the best niche fragrances, but some argue that its identity lacks originality. Its DNA feels heavily inspired by other popular gourmands, potentially overlapping with some mainstream designs like Ferrari Black, albeit with a more luxurious twist. Althair’s focus on vanilla, amber, and creamy tonka echoes Ferrari Black’s base structure, though Althair’s refinement and quality of ingredients are undeniably superior. However, there’s a glaring issue—price-to-performance ratio. Ferrari Black: A bottle of 125ml often costs less than €30. Althair: A 125ml bottle can easily exceed €265. For the price of one bottle of Althair, you could buy roughly 8 bottles of Ferrari Black, which is staggering when you consider how similar their warm, sweet bases can feel to the average wearer. Ferrari Black may not carry the prestige or refinement of Parfums de Marly Althair, but it stands as a testament to how a well-crafted, affordable fragrance can deliver a comparable experience without breaking the bank. The price difference feels unjustifiable unless niche branding and luxury packaging are non-negotiable for you. Overall, Ferrari Black is an underrated gem in the budget fragrance world. While Althair may cater to the niche community, Ferrari Black delivers value and versatility that is hard to beat, especially when considering its accessible price point. In this light, perhaps the true “best fragrance” lies not in its exclusivity, but in its ability to deliver joy without pretension.
Luxury car brands often has the cheapest smelling fragrances. The bottle had a horrid taped on plastic logo that fell apart, did I receive a counterfeit? This frag is similar to Boss Bottled/Boss Orange/Boss man. But throw in hefty dose of sweet boppy bubblegum (like the one in popeye or Superman from Le Male) with a sharp mint that disturbs the whole opening. Smelled like chemical soap with the apple. To my nose this is not a very refined opening, and doesn't convey luxury like this kind of brand should. It smells ok though. And props that it came in 1999. I would look to Boss Man, or Abercrombie and fitch Authentic Moment that does this but better.
i would recommend that you do not buy this. i am really not a hater type of guy, but genuinely this cologne smells awesome for the first 10 min of spraying, then it just smells like melted car tires. i was deceived just cause of how good the beginning was when I sprayed it at the store, bought it for 30$ cad and I was super hyped for a couple days. but then once I got critical of it I realized damn it actually is pretty bad :(. 3/10, and 3 only cuz the top notes are pretty good tbh
Yall are nuts. I know it’s all subjective but to my nose, for the price and what it does this fragrance is amazing. I absolutely love the opening. Fruity, vintage, masculine. Women will love this, on me at least, I already know. Wouldn't care if it lasted 30 mins, glad to have it in my collection.
Recomendado
Was gifted this and really liked the smell. Longevity however leaves a lot to be desired, lasts an hour at most.... :( Scent 7/10 Longevity 2/10
It's one of the best-smelling fragrances I've put my nose on...It's fruity and has such a beautiful vanilla note. I get a lot of compliments from women wearing this, BUT...the durability is terrible and the sillage is decent at best...so if you like this go for it and overspray. good for any occasion and any season and CHEAP. NOTE: NO it isn't that close to Boss bottled(boss is sweeter to my nose and lacks the citrusy note this one gives)
I owned an old school formulation of this (mid 2000s) and it’s actually pretty unique. I recently tried Creed Royal Oud and that note in the RO dry down is the opening note on this. I wish I knew exactly what that is. I’m not sure about Scuderia Black or newer formulations but the bottle i had was awesome !!! Spicy vanilla wood which was pretty linear but was a great unique cheapie.
love the fruity and vanilla smell to it
Smells more like the opening of Boss Bottled Intense than the OG Boss Bottled but the performance is dreadful. Even weaker that Hugo's creations and thats saying something..
Weak juice... doesn't last.
Performance is very weak...really disappointed
I wanted a cheap, everyday perfume. Hence why I picked up the ferrari black. It does smell cheap but for the price you cannot complain. Infact for the price is smells great! Slightly more on the sweet side but not over powerly sweet. I normally wear this when the weather is grey, dull and boring but this can be worn pretty much any time of the season. This is not the type of perfume you’d wear to impress as its not an exciting perfume at all, but for those who wants a cheap perfume that can be worn for normal days, a perfume thats nothing too special at all but still smells nice, its a great buy and recommend!
Heads-up! For those who enjoy this, but aren't impressed with the longevity, try Platinum Musk by Jovan. Smells practically identical and is, somehow, even cheaper than this! Of course, the Jovan sticks closer to the skin, but I sprayed PM on one arm and Ferrari Black on the other, then went to sleep. The following morning, I could still detect Platinum Musk on my right arm but no trace of the Ferrari was left on my...well, left! So maybe you can layer them to make the scent go the distance...? idk lolz.... There isn't a page for Platinum Musk on this site for some reason, which is why I'm leaving this comment here, but yeah, the Jovan smells just like this!
Opens with a really sharp ethanol smell (like a cheap EDP) but then settles to a decent fruity, vanilla, musky smell. I don't know why Ferrari would put their name to this product??? Surely they could of softened the opening ethanol smell??? 5/10 for starting smell and 8/10 for lasting and later after smell.
I get a note of newspaper paper. Like sniffing the Sunday Times.
Outstanding 5 Star Fragrance⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Others reach for Encre Noire when it's a dull, dreary, rainy day. Ferrari Black is what I find most appealing when I feel the weather outside needs some taming. I was given a 75ml. bottle of Black for my birthday in January 2000 by my sister. Back then I didn't have many fragrances to call on - probably a mere three or four. At the time I didn't think much of Ferrari Black because Kouros was king in my eyes (and it still holds a special place in my collection). Fast forward to around 2015, on a rainy winter's day on the east coast of South Africa, and I got the cobwebs off the Ferrari and wore it after many years. What extraordinary comfort this fragrance gives me on rainy days! It must be the plum note in this that feels like a hug. I see the similarities to Boss fragrances; but I find Ferrari Black unique. And that is probably because of the prominent role the plum plays in this scent. Beautifully blended, it is such an underrated fragrance. Yes, it is sweet. It is gentle sweet, with a comforting and uplifting spirit. It's getting harder to find this here in South Africa but I was lucky this past week to have found a 125ml. bottle at a giveaway price. Our summers have many rainy days, and summer's almost here.
Smells like a cheaper, younger version of Boss Bottled - sweeter and fruitier that Boss Bottled without some of spiciness and woody depth. For anyone except teenagers and those on a tight budget, you'd be better off just getting Boss Bottled.
i will give this a 5/10 in general, i really like the opening since it smelled like candy, but more men like, but the dried down was pure vanilla, the cedar was muted, so it was too female like for me to smell on my bf, would not repurchase. But if you like it i would say this is a day and casual fragance, can be use all year, or a job where you dont want to get much attention but smell nice.
This is quite a popular fragrance line. However it is basically a copy cat line which is priced higher than it should. If you are a fan of Boss Bottled you can use this fragrance as it is virtually the same and significantly cheaper. Other alternatives are: La Rive Grey Point (cheapest alternative) Lidl X Bolt (Cheap and well made generic copy) Bi ES Brossi (same as La Rive, same quality) Jfenzi Desso Legend (likely the best alternative) I don't think buying Ferrari Black is justifiable given other cheaper alternatives exists.
Smells really sweet a good scent for teenagers pretty cheap as well its a ok fragrance but I would suggest spending my money on something like versace the dreamer if your price range is low :)
This is sweet! Memories of this scent was of this guy in highschool and this girl I dated in highschool. On both of them it smelled the same. Sweet and leathery even though it’s not listed as a note. You get fruity, and the vanilla and amber for sure. Now that my taste in fragrance matured I’m curious to smell this now because I’m only going off memory currently (highschool was a long time ago lol) ...if it smells like how I remember I will get it for myself lol
This used to be my signature scent for years. I love the bottle design as well as that matte finish. The scent itself is gorgeous, a bit sweet with plum, apple then settles down into vanilla. I just wish this had more longevity. What I recommend is, just carry the bottle or have a decant sprayer and spray 3 to 4 more times after about 4 hrs of applying this fragrance. I rate fragrances with a category that people don't normally talk about, that is how easy it is to get the scent off of the skin when I take shower. This one comes off after four to five washes of soaping. I noticed that the newer batches, especially those of Scuderia Ferrari having that synthetic bubblegum smell. I still love it, but have moved onto different ones. If you like Ferrari Black, you'll love Boss Bottled Intense EDP. Rating: 8.7/10 Season: All Time: Day & Night Attire: Both formal and casual but slightly moreso casual Unique: 5.4/10 Projection: 1/10 Sillage: 1/10 Longevity: 4/10 Washable: 8/10 Value: 9/10
