Oud Royal is one of those rare rose‑oud creations that somehow feels almost rose‑free and that’s exactly why I love it. It skips the usual jammy rose cliché and goes straight into this dark, dense, velvety oud that feels incredibly smooth on skin. No harsh edges, no medicinal bite, just pure, polished depth. The opening is immediately atmospheric - spicy warmth, a little incense curl and that shadowy oud rising up like a slow burn. It’s rich without being loud, elegant without being timid. As it settles, the blend becomes almost creamy, not gourmand, not sweet but this super‑rich, milky hot‑chocolate texture that feels decadent and comforting at the same time. Thick, smooth and enveloping. Yum!

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 176 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased September 2025 - NOS Armani/Prive Oud Royal truly is a niche, incensed amber oud that piques curiosity. That's why I ended up with a bottle. It's quite good, the only downside is the potential cloy factor and potential to cling to fabric. Overall? Ancient, the days of conquest and freezing nights of desert landscapes. Batch: 62T400L from April 2020.

This is the oud perfume that I loved from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know a lot of oud perfumes, but honestly this is the most royal/regal-feeling perfume I’ve used, and I actually got compliments on it, even though I wasn’t really knowledgeable about perfumes back then. I used to wear it in closed/indoor spaces. Amazing scent, and it totally deserves the hype because it’s luxurious.

Eugh. This one is always a repurchase, So sexy. I get black pepper although not listed!

I first sprayed this almost 5 years ago. Back then, I thought it smelled of plasticine. I wrote a review back then, below. I couldn’t have been more wrong. As my nose has matured and I’ve experimented with fragrances, I’ve come back to this and I’m glad I have. It’s a wonderfully intoxicating scent with a blend of smoky saffron, woods and rose. The rose is not as prominent as some oud scents. Yes, there are similarities with Lattafa’s Opulent Oud but this, to my more mature nose, is far superior. From OK to love. 👌🏻 😮💨

Incredible fragrance. This smells like Gucci Intense Oud, but made with the oud from Initio's Oud for Greatness!

Picture this: It's way past midnight, and this seemingly pure place should have been closed and empty by now. Yet, there is a soft echo in the air. A song, ever-so-different from what people are used to listening to. And, deep down, you know one thing: you caused this. You were the cause for yet another memory of this sort to form, to blossom, to twist itself into view and to gain permanence, twice in a single moment. Yet, whoever stands before you is not freakishly tall, and He does not have erratic features. The slight fear is instilled into you through presence alone. A presence that does not only fill the room, but becomes a part of it, one that will fade within hours, but latch onto something else. An object, or a mind, or even a specific time. You also know that your offering need not take up much space: A simple rose. A rose, crimson, tainted by blood on numerous occasions. In the face of such a presence, you expect it to be tainted yet again. You expect another torn petal, another vessel of fear, and then emptiness. Yet, said emptiness does not return. This presence never meant to harm. Just faintly, barely, you see all the cracks in the petals close back up. You see the blood dry, and then fade, as if, for a moment, it was never there... Just like the cracks and bruises on your skin. The numerous scars no longer feel ugly. There is poetry written on each bruise, in each vein, etched into each visible bone. It is as if the rose is allowed to blossom on its own time after all. You don't mind the imposing altar, or the stone floor, and neither does He. All that matters is the fading smoke of the incense, and the soft light of the stars. All that matters is the black clock with the silver numbers, showing the passing hour, letting each second twist and turn along the line of time. (TL;DR: if an old church with too many candles was somehow in a poem with flower metaphors. oh, and it's a memory for some reason. it also evokes the clothes of a priest, if you're into that.)

Not bad, I like this. I think this would suit lunch at an English pub, maybe. 7/10

To me this scent smells like a pleasant luxurious wood, I think it’s one of the most likeable ouds I’ve smelled, woody oud is the best way I can describe this scent, but also nothing too crazy happening. Decent.

Анонім★★★★★

Very poor performance for the scent profile, it's actually impressive how they manage to butcher the performance for those heavy notes.

Анонім★★★★★

Very pleasant smell. But I think there are cheaper alternatives for this dna

Armani Prive #3 – The devil is in the details, but are there enough details? I ended up with a sample of Oud Royal by chance. The seller made a mistake and instead of sending me a Green Irish Tweed sample, he sent me this one. Im glad actually, because i’ve had Lattafa Opulent Oud for years. Its a clone of Oud Royal and now i get to compare how close is it to the original. Its a nice exercise to do when the opportunity comes up because its a grounding experience eighter way. If the clone is close to the original then it confirms the fact that we pay for the brand and if its not, it confirms that quality is quality and why opting for the real deal is better. On first encounter, before i pulled my hand close for a sniff, i immediately recognised Opulent Oud and could confirm its a direct clone and not just an inspiration. However, a close inspection obviously revealed a more refined and gentler scent then the Lattafa. Firstly, Oud Royal’s opening and middle phase is more aired out and that is because the rose is being given a bit more volume then in Opulent Oud. The rose feels suffocated in Lattafa’s creation by the heft of the base. In Oud Royal the rose is more present, altho it also walks behind the amber and the oud. As to be expected, the main difference between the two is the overall quality of the scent. Many of these finer details do get lost in the air and also in the drydown so that has to be taken in consideration. I’ve noticed that in most middle eastern dupes, probably because of the cheaper materials used, the scents feel more weighty and base heavy then the originals they copy. They often cannot nail the finer top and middle notes that make a scent more nouanced. What they do right however is the base and thats the case here aswell. Given the fact that the base of the scent is the one that mostly defines a perfume for the majority of its lifespan, i can see the point of advocating dupe perfumes. I myself own many dupes so im neutral on this because i see the merits and qualities of the originals but also the economic and rational reasoning behind clones. Lattafa Opulent Oud recreated the base with decent fidelity but it lacks the subtleness and gentleness present in the earlier phases of Oud Royal. Opulent Oud is denser, heavier and more thick ambery from the get-go whilst Oud Royal goes through a calmer phase before it eventually gets to that stage. Imagine Oud Royal staring into a mirror, only to see an older version of itself reflecting back, that reflection is the Lattafa. I do not agree with calling the DNA animalic as others before me did. Perhaps animalic to a degree honey is also considered an animalic note. It might be a subjective thing tho because im partially anosmic to Oud so i admit there might be details i cannot smell. This scentprofile is very common in my country because of the clones but i can see how it would impress many western tastes. Smelling the Lattafa will get you very close to the real deal, close enough to settle for the clone or decide if the scentprofile is to your liking and hunt down the original for the best possible version on this DNA. I bought Opulent Oud for 10 dollars whilst Oud Royal costs an arm and a leg and its apparently discontinued too. Opulent Oud outperforms Oud Royal but admitedly that is because of the blunter ingredients. From an economic and rational point of view the clone will be satisfying but at the end of the day, perfumery is one of the least rational hobbies out there so yea...to each his own haha.

I love how this fragrance is very under the radar because it is absolute perfection. For those saying it has no Oud in it, please give your head a shake and blow your nose. Aaron Terrence Hughes is the only notable person I've seen review this on YouTube, he considers himself to be a Oud based perfumer primarily and he acknowledges the Oud in this. This is what well tamed, blended and refined Oud smells like when you spend £300. A hidden gem and one of my all time favourite fragrances ever.

Анонім★★★★★

I wanted to double check if I have this one. YES. A 250 ml purchased from the main distributor long time back. Along with a 250 ml Rose De Arabi. Love these. Glad I got the 250's at a bargain. Before they got discontinued.

Анонім★★★★★

I got a sample of this along with some other fragrances. To me it just smells like a posh shower gel from Molton & Brown or somewhere. For reference, I sprayed this on one arm and Alexandria II by Xerjoff on the other and the difference is absolutely night and day. Not bad but nothing special at all. And for the price, absolutely not. 5/10.

Анонім★★★★★

As a niche fragrance girlie, this is kind of a nightmare to me. It’s intense without nuance, a very literal and unpoetic fragrance. I got it as a sample after committing to Alto Astral, which is at the opposite end of the spectrum of fragrance to me. Wish I had anything nice to say about this but it’s truly just oud fragrance with a saffron note. If that’s what you’re looking for, spray on!

Анонім★★★★★

Opening is pointing in direction of dior homme (prereform, when it made sense eh) as drydown gets warmer and warmer with saffron, spices and mystery of orient. Perfectly rounded and organic smell. It's super classy, super discreet, opulent, yet, can be worn casually (easy with that spritzer). I wish I had money.

Had high hopes. I mean. Armani Prive and Oud. Worst case, and I figured out it would be yet another generic oud with rose. So I blind bought it. I was expecting something more interesting for a perfume enthusiast. But this is mainstream pleasing. And i love it! If you enjoy the most animalistic ouds, then I’m happy for you, but 99% of the people around you will hate it. This one doesn’t add notes to tame the oud to be somewhat wearable. It used oud as an ingredient to create something wonderful in harmony with the other notes. The scent is very dry. It has a woody base where the oud is perfectly blended in. It’s hard to describe the scent, but I feel some similarities with oud wood with a twist. There is a sharp note shining through that makes it come off a bit fresher than oud wood. But still extremely dry and almost a bit peppery. It screams formal clothing and I think it can be worn in the evening year round. And during the day in the colder months. But with formal clothing.

I had bought this as one of my first experiences of an expensive perfume. I loved it when I bought it, as it did smell luxurious, well blended and elegant. However, it is now been years, and as explored and experience so much more, I recognise it for what it is. Well blended, luxurious but definitely a designer fragrance. It is quite safe, but boring with no real oud. There are more interesting oud fragrances out there which come with a better price tag. Smell: 7/10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Projection: 6/10 Price: 2/10

Perfect middle eastern scent. Performance isn't that great though. I hope some middle eastern house comes up with a dupe for it.

Анонім★★★★★

To my nose this has the opening of Gucci Intense Oud and the dry down of Etat Libre d'Orange Rien Intense Incense. That's not necessarily a bad combination. It's a very potent perfume, especially in the opening. It'll have to grow on me but give it a shot by all means.

Анонім★★★★★

@Hmossa30 May I ask what is the batch # you have? I want to get my hands on an older batch too. Thanks.

Анонім★★★★★

Recently acquired an old batch of this, in love. Beautiful incense oud saffron - smells that I grew up with and love. Can’t get enough of this and love the way i can smell it on my self. 10/10 masterpiece

Анонім★★★★★

Perfection. Winter = Oud Royal. That's it - that's all.

Анонім★★★★★

Beautiful scent! It got me by surprise, didn't expect to be so elegant and not overwhelming. Looking at the notes I thought it's be a heavy oud incense but ... no. It's giving me a picture of an high class gathering in relaxed dark atmosphere.

Анонім★★★★★

Smells like you're shopping in an outdoor Indian market, surrounded by spices and incense. For that price, you can find much more affordable fragrances with better oud.

Анонім★★★★★

In My opinion, this is the best Oud Fragrance ever made, not overpowering, yet very rich and an absolute statement

Анонім★★★★★

When it comes to exuding class and timeless elegance, Armani Privé Oud Royal stands in a league of its own. From the moment you unveil its luxurious packaging, you sense that this is more than a fragrance—it’s an experience. The opening of Oud Royal is a sophisticated interplay of warm, resinous oud and a rich medley of spice. Unlike many overly aggressive oud fragrances, this scent achieves a masterful balance. The oud here is smooth and refined, wrapped in silky layers of saffron and amber, which provide warmth without overwhelming the senses. As it settles, floral notes like rose subtly emerge, weaving through the composition with grace, while hints of patchouli and sandalwood lend an earthy, grounding depth. What truly sets Oud Royal apart as the perfect formal occasion fragrance is its aura of quiet confidence. It doesn’t shout for attention but commands respect through its sheer quality and elegance. The longevity is remarkable, lingering for hours, yet it maintains a moderate projection—perfect for intimate gatherings or formal events where discretion is key. Whether you're donning a bespoke tuxedo for a gala or attending a black-tie wedding, Oud Royal elevates your presence. It speaks of taste, refinement, and sophistication, making it a signature choice for any gentleman who values the art of subtlety and style. In the realm of formal fragrances, Oud Royal is a masterpiece—rich, elegant, and undeniably memorable.

Smells nice not overpowering and annoying Oud, the Incense is beautiful as well, but is it worth its price?...... No. > > > I am kind of mad and annoyed, but at the same time confused. Is the fact this perfume is "Linear" and has the same smell throughout the day> that is why I can not smell it after 3-4 hours, did I go nose blind to it? Or does just have bad performance? Idk I shall come back again to re-review it.
