Very very good value, use to be my signature perfume, it was my mums and she would always wear it, lasts a long time and smells amazing

This perfume is very special to me. It reminds me of a kind stranger who offered me a comforting smile as a child going through a hard time, and my late work bestie who passed due to cancer. It brings me peace and hope when I wear it and while it is a mature fragrance it is a reminder to me to celebrate all the strong, kind, and powerful women who have positively impacted me.

(new april 23th, 2026) yesterday at an Apothecary (Medication Dispenser) a Lady went sitting next to me and I immediately said: 'that is Giorgio you are wearing'. and she said I was right. we exchanged some anecdotes about the perfume. what struck me most was the Super Imposement this perfume still made to its environment and it appeared as if nothing had changed since 1981. it wasn't so much 'Mémoire Involontaire' but just an actualisation of the Moment. this perfume defines the moment we're in. it doesn't so much draw you back but defines the Actuality if there are persons in it or not. and apparently there are always persons in it. it can be that Giorgio defines the person who wears it but with me it was always that we defined each other. I felt, and still feel it expresses ME. not in an egoistical manner but because you are here, you are present, it is a matter of Existence, Existentialism. and it was always such positive, happy, lucky, also remarkable and never invisible nor inaudible nor desensitivised, Event. I always had the feeling it was me who defined the Event. I think demure or introverted persons wouldn't be inclined to wear Giorgio but perhaps that is BS. it also can be that precisely withdrawn, secretive persons are inclined to wear Giorgio. also bc it is a beautiful fragrance. that occured to me yesterday morning. it simply was, and still is, that Fabulous Perfume, the perfume of sheer Fabulosity. I had the impression that nothing had changed with the perfume. but I know that is a machination of your guts, brains, heart. (I define persons not by their Brain solely.) my Soul sits in my Heart. and that is also where the realm of perfume sits, anyway with me. yet it seemed unaltered. I think they still maintain a beautiful Blueprint of this perfume and I guess, when I reminesced, it was stronger in 1981. even the packaged soaps (3 in a Set for Hundred Guilders) intoxicated your entire house when still in their boxes, shiny outerbox, cellophanes wrapped around them. then still the perfume was everywhere, conversating with the Poison Savon Parfumée and Coco Crème Parfumée Somptueuse and with the Obsession perfume.

apparently I never reviewed Giorgio, one of my most favorite perfumes of all time! my straight twinbrother would say your no.1. and I guess he is right. once as a nurse in the Academic Hospital in Rotterdam at an ICU he said to a collegue: 'You are wearing Giorgio'. no one had ever noticed nor said anything about it. she asked how he knew... 'well it's the favorite of my gay twinbrother'. they both had to laugh. and I guess it is true. but always in close proximity to Obsession, Poison and Coco. yet if I HAD to choose, then Giorgio. I start the review with another anecdotal event. I FYSICALLY REMEMBER I biked to work in the nightshift as a nurse (also) but never on an ICU: I would holler away screaming. in that time, 1981, I was 23 years old, towards 24, and it was in the evening air. I worked nightshifts one week working, one week off, and so on for 12 years. (we both have been nurses for 45 years). but during that biketrip to work I lifted my pulse up to my nose. I needn't do that gesture however. a 'Clôche' of fabulous perfume accompanied me, as seemingly I never smelled before. in the evening the White Flowers exude their perfume. this was what I smelled but then quadrupled and on steroids. and accompanied by what seemed a thousand other ingredients. (I love hyperbolic language, and what I recently saw here was someone who detested such reviews: he called it 'verbose' language) but you know ? it seems the only language possible to do these perfumes and particularly Giorgio and Poison justice, and in this case Giorgio, it made me happy, then and there and for many years to come. thát I remember evidentially and eventfully. the sheer Cocoon of Perfume around me and indeed, which seemed to foreshadow me as also leave a trail of chemical incidents behind me. the perfume of Giorgio mixed with the flowering shrubs in the Netherlands in the evening. it was only the beginning of the 1980s... Giorgio appeared to be a game changer, and the better I understood this was afterwards, when Obsession, Poison and Coco had arrived, and Knowing, Beautiful, Gem (vCleef&Arpels), Nahéma, First, Moschino Parfum de toilette, C'Est la Vie Christian Lacroix, Opium which predated these evil sisters as from 1977, Karl Lagerfelds parfum, Must de Cartier (also from 1981). but also in hindsight I now understand that there was another perfume, also with a Boy's, a Man's name, Charlie from 1975, which kind of paved the way for Giorgio. also from that perfume I had vivid memories from 1981 (that is when a nurse and me discovered it, in a psychiatric hospital) and we were using it liberally. only now do I understand it was paving the way for even more outspoken sisters. now about the notes of Giorgio. above we see the notes as they now are. there have been reformulations and I wouldn't say they did a bad job. but only to have known the Original Giorgio stems me happy (nevermind the reformulations and 'Produced in Spain' et cetera). and I have a good description of the original notes from Grace Hummel, from her inexhaustable website cleopatrasboudoir. blogspot.com. there she describes the origins of Giorgio and it was an affair for the Super Rich of the United States. let us start with the real, original notes. as she describes it: "the Giorgio Fragrance contained natural perfume oils including jasmine absolute, otto of rose, extract of gardenia, orange blossom, chamomile and patchoul". we ain't finished. "galbanum, green notes, apricot, orange blossom, peach, bergamot, mandarin. lily of the valley, hyacinth, carnation, orris, tuberose, gardenia, orchid, jasmine absolute, ylang-ylang, rose absolute. sandelwood, amber, chamomile, patchouli, musk, oakmoss, vanilla, cedar". so. now that that is out of the way we understand why this perfume is extraordinary. it's full name was Gale and Fred Hayman Giorgio Beverly Hills. Extraordinary Spray Cologne'. 1981. and of this juice I had the 'Cologne' (which already had the strength of perfume) but I also regularly bought the soaps (three Savons Parfumées for 100 guilders). the 90mL Cologne was also 100 guilders. I remember it all. and when it was launched, in 1981, the whole boulevard in Rotterdam was intoxicated and asphyxiated. later I saw a headline: 'Milan Asphyxiée'. and it would be the same with Obsession (1985), Poison (1984), Coco (1984). and all I bought was double. the same for my mother please. she really came from a poor youth from a region of Schiedam (for centuries the genever Capitol of the World). so I wanted to have her that Beverly Hills-Houston- NewYork- Paris and London experience. (not that she gave a crap about thát.) and she had the same gusto as I had. my poor dad with his very good nose as from a Wolf hahahahaha, he didn't knew where to hide. because when you had only the soap from Giorgio, Poison and Coco, and it was still packed and sealed, your whole house was bewitched and drugged. yes these were witches potions. Giorgio was particular in the sense that it predominantly had flowers, flowers, flowers. just for instance like Beautiful. and YSL's Paris (which I forgot to mention). but next to this, Giorgio (and Poison) were still something else. they predated the Sillage Monsters of today and then still were more nuclear. they were code 4 accidents of aromachemical events. they made no hostages, or it must have been us, those parfumistas (in these terms we never thought we were called at that time) who loved such perfumes. and they are the golden standard to which I always measured the following hookerperfumes to be 'laid'. Boudoir (1998), Allure (1999), Mahora from Guerlain (2000), Donna Karan by Donna Karan (1992) the Creeds of the 1980s and 1990s which came to drip in from the ethersphere (in thén, already somewhat wilthed boxes yet the boxes were so striking it didn't matter, but this to testify to their authentic age): Fleur de Bulgarie ( a rose perfume like no other but yet comparable with Guerlain's Nahéma and vCleef&Arpels's Gem), Jasmin Impératrice Eugénie, Jasmal, Irisia, Vanisia, Tuberose Indiana, Fleurissimo, Royal Delight, all, perfumes to knock you out of your shoes and with the same refinement and elegance and yes: Présentiste, Arriviste, Alarmiste, Hysterica to be reckoned with. then came Montale in 2003 with his Rose-Ouds which I all immediately loved. then other bitingly strong, inknifingly heady Nichiste perfumes. yet I bought myself in in the 1980s hookers. 1988: 'Giorgio Beverly Hills Red'. in the advertisement with Paulina Porizkova there was stated: 'wearing Red, everything else pales.' and I had at one time a nurse who came in a bathroom where I gave an elderly lady a bath, and who had already complimented me on my perfume, well the nurse got a coughing fit almost to never wake up from. thát strong those perfumes are. this is the story of Giorgio and the Unforgettable Perfume she is and shall always be. she and her sisters (Giorgio, Poison, Coco, Obsession predominantly) ruled supreme. those launching parties in Beverly Hills costed Millions of Dollars and were unrivalled. and I grew up in a Communist Milieu..... I think I am a person of extremes. that is just my life. as Madonna, Karl Lagerfeld, Gianni and Donatella Versace also accompanied me in my life. I still forget to mention from the 1980s Fred Hayman Beverly Hills '273' and Bijan Beverly Hills 'Bijan', from the expensive boutique where they had ties from $1.600 a piece. and of course Calvin Kleins Eternity. but Giorgio. that was something else, something from the Pleiades or another troposphere, trancedimentional hypersphere.

Indossare Giorgio versione anni 80/90 nel giugno 2006 è un'esperienza gratificante. Giorgio era abbastanza dolce e colorato,bouquet di gardenia,gelsomino,fiori d'arancio,zenzero,albicocca,ananas,pesca, sandalo,camomilla,rosa,vaniglia, muschio di quercia,e altre note solari e dorate che si fondono con l'atmosfera estiva. Ha assunto nel corso degli anni la fama di essere troppo forte, troppo intenso, esagerato da stordire e essere vietato in alcuni ristoranti... Però è solo una leggenda metropolitana. La versione iniziale degli anni 80 era limpida e dorata,sicuramente intenso ma non di certo da essere bandito. Nel 96 venne riformulato e alleggerito per la prima volta, in seguito poi ancora ebbe qualche ritocco. La versione made in spain è l'ultima e ha dei buchi olfattivi nella fragranza dove si sente la mancanza di alcuni elementi classici, pur mantenendo il suo stile. Per i nasi abituati agli orrori moderni di nicchia e non,di intrugli sintetici di vaniglia cremosa e frutta di plastica e oudh finto e dolcissimo, Giorgio forse non si sente nemmeno.

I was trying to get free shipping on a Walmart order (Sold by Perfume Empire) and since this was one on my want list to try, I pushed my purchase over the amount for the deal on shipping. Everything I read about how the opening and how it can be like a slap in the face, I found true; except it only lasted like 10 seconds. Then a beautiful floral. Others have perfectly described it, so I won't do that again. I was shocked by the way my 4 spray application took a fast lane past the dry down and then the middle. The speed continued into a close skin scent base within a couple of hours. I had a friend who was visiting and just before they arrived, I reapplied another couple of sprays. They could not tell I had anything on until I put my wrist to their nose. The reaction was, "That's nice... It's super light" So, either I have a counterfeit or the formula changed. Update: I had to know... so I purchased a bottle of this stuff directly from an authorized retailer. The product I got was the same. The stuff is junk water. In hindsight, I have found from reviewers that the current formula "made in Spain" is garbage. This beloved fragrance died a while back.

I just got a bottle of this from a discount store. I really love a lot of tuberose fragrances and had been wanting to smell this. I probably would not have ordered this but having it right in front of me in the store, I didn't resist. I'm 44 and enjoy heavier fragrances and I really like floral perfumes. Just for reference, Coco EDP is my most favorite perfume. Giorgio is nice. I will definitely wear this in spring and summer. It has an earthly freshness and green-ness that seems like it would do well in spring/summer. I Definitely thought this perfume was going to be sweeter. Sweet tuberose is my favorite but I do like this and will be wearing it. I already have on perfume today, but it seems like a great choice for today. It's sunny, a little windy, and about 70 degrees.

This is such an emotional one for me... this (and l'air du temps) was my grand-mother's perfume. I just got it recently, she's passed almost 10 years ago, this perfume just brings back so many memories. Funny how scent can do this to you, in a flash, you are elsewhere for a few minutes. Now about the perfume, it's a light floral... not a first spray... the first & second notes are quite powerful (bergamot, ylang ylang, rose)... but as time goes by it softens into this oh so delicate smell. I get the tuberose, chamomile, fruits... then dries down softly and the sweeter notes (amber, vanilla, musk, sandalwood) take place, it all blends so well together. It's just beautiful to me. Soft clean but not sharp or pungent. I would say it's a floral clean perfume. I'm so happy I got this, feels like a hug from my grand-maman. <3

Make sure you can stand tuberose! It has N°5 chanel vibe but more simple and easy to wear. Just make sure your senses can keep up with the tuberose because is very present in this fragrance. If you cannot stand j'adore edp, ikat jasmine, nor l'interdit, then I would not recommend this one.

This perfume is like Sophia Vergara in a bottle: beautiful, ultra feminine, sexy, and over the top in the best way. I remember smelling this on a fragrance strip in a magazine and thinking it was the best thing I had ever smelled. Very floral, bold, feminine, and sexy. I was maybe 12 or 13 and my nose was used to my mom's demure Shalimar and my fragrances were Love's Baby Soft and White Shoulders. I begged my mom to buy me a bottle for my birthday (it was so expensive then) and she was appalled and said it was not a fragrance for young girls. Soon after the magazine strip, I started smelling it everywhere. Unfortunately, most people over sprayed and ruined the scent experience. I recall being trapped in a car after someone had over sprayed and it was a torture chamber. One spray in the air and a walkthrough is enough. lol I have it on my NSFW tray and wear it when I'm doing chores to lift my spirits.

A signature scent of my mom’s, along with Tresor from Lancôme. It’s fine, but I always found it a little dated.

I decided to get a modern EDT spray because it was three bucks and I wanted to smell a piece of history. Not my thing, very of its time, but it's beautiful! I can imagine why this would be banned in 80s restaurants with the vintage formulation lol. Still a powerhouse, though! @cats_eye I can smell the similarities in Ciara & the Charlies, but Fragrantica has Ciara's perfumer listed as Harry Cutler, so wondering what that's about?

Don't wear this scent unless you want everyone around you to suffer from a migraine headache because this scent will cause people to want to scoop their brain out of their head with a melon baller.

Frances Camail who created Giorgio also created several Revlon fragrances.. Charlie, Ciara and Cerissa.

If perfume was a woman, Giorgio would be a baddie. Fun, sophisticated, intense, totally gorgeous. I love this fragrance.

My goodness, how this is SUCH a time machine for me! To me, this scent IS my mother. She didn't just wear this fragrance, she WORKED it. She wore it religiously, always dressed to the nines, with hair teased to the heavens and dripping in giant gold and diamond jewelry (the epitome of 80s excess). Back then those iconic yellow and white stripes were a weird status symbol. It was the fragrance equivalent of a gold Amex card. It smelled like luxury, excess, and like you had places to be and a Filofax full of appointments. This is a nuclear shot of tuberose and gardenia. It's sunny, happy, and AGGRESSIVE in the best way. It smells like California sunshine and fills the room before you even open the door. It's an acquired taste these days. It screams 80s powerhouse in a way that likely terrifies the modern nose. But I will always think fondly of it. EDIT: I feel like I don't have to mention this, but as with pretty much every fragrance from the 80's, this one has been reformulated to hell and back. So if you have a new bottle of this, that opening is going to be absolutely HARSH. Spray it VERY conservatively! Even watered down Giorgio can be considered chemical warfare if oversprayed. If you're patient, it will dry down into a nice (albeit still AGGRESSIVE) yellow floral. It just takes about 20-30 minutes.

I love this strong flower scent on my skin. I just purchased a back up bottle afraid that I will run out. This would be difficult because it only takes one or two sprays to cause a cloud of thick fragrance. I wear this at home with abandon. I spray lightly and wait an hour before wearing it outdoors. This was a big hit in the 80’s and pricey so my friends and I found it a treat when we got our hands on anyones bottle for a spray.

I don't know, but this perfume is extremely strong, and it's kind of nauseating. It smells like what an old, grumpy white lady would wear. It has a strong synthetic mint scent to it.

I used to wear this one a lot prior to my “beloved” WHITE DIAMONDS! I had not had a bottle in many years… UNTIL I saw on clearance at TJ Max!! It still smells like “itself” but perhaps not quite SO strong. BUT……. That might be for the BEST!

I really like this perfume. I tried the recent formulation [made in Spain] and the smell is great though the first 5 min might be challenging, later it gets much more pleasant. The parameters are tricky - it's very loud and projecting like crazy during the first hour and then it quickly gets close to the skin. It is really difficult to dose it. I could smell it for around six hours. The quality of the smell for this price is unbelievable. It's a tuberose chypre perfume and this tuberose note smells on my skin exactly like in Odor 93 Meo Fusciuni. The smell is not too sweet or creamy, it's slightly sour due to chypre construction. I have love-hate relation with tuberose smell and I've never imagined to enjoy such fully syntetic tuberose but it's really done the right way. Try it and maybe you will pay 10x less than for a similar niche fragrance. A price tag does not indicate the real value at all these days. I have no idea about the older formulations, I might try to find some more vintage releases as this perfume fascinates me.

Beautiful. Sunny. Attention demanding. Floral. I adore this. Smells exactly how I imagine the rich women in Beverly Hills would smell like in the early-mid ‘80’s while shopping in the warm sunny spring weather on Rideo Drive. I’m wearing 23 sprays right now & am living every second of it. ☀️☀️☀️☀️

Giorgio brings me fond memories. When I was younger, late elementary school, a teenaged (so old and cool!) family friend gifted me a aerosol body spray that was called 'If you love Giorgio...'. I was too young to understand that it was a dupe, so to me, it was super exciting, one of my first grown up scents ever. It was a little can, but I made it last. Smelling this now brings me back to the home we lived in at that time so clearly. The closed staircase, the larger master bathroom that I loved primping and pampering in until my parents hollered at me from downstairs asking me what was taking me so long...I remember even one time washing my hair in the sink because I must have read about doing so in some novel printed before showers were popular haha! All of those memories are surrounded in a cloud of Giorgio. I'm assuming the sample I have is the modern EDT, as it smells quite similar to that body spray. It's funny, I think if I didn't have those key memories, I might not enjoy a scent like this, a sharp, kind of chemically tuberose/gardenia bombast. Because of pleasant memories, all of these vintage florals are quite comforting, even when they have a hairspray screech. Giorgio's reputation I think scares off the modern user, but the current formulation is not scary at all. Try it, you may find that your memories give you a fondness for this perfume :)

Giorgio, ...again comparing the modern EDT with a more vintage parfum. The parfum smells like how Giorgio smelled in the 80s. ...and trust me, it was always intentionally designed to be voluminously provocative (AKA: In your face). The idea really was that people were supposed to either love it or hate it. Just ignoring it or remaining neutral were not viable options. All I can say now is that back then being hated had a glamourous mystique to it that is long-gone in this current Internet Age of constantly judgmental, cross-surveillance. As for the EDT of today, it just has a musty, green hollow in the very heart of it. That same place where there once glowed incandescent pools of tuberose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang. This EDT actually does have a glumly modern & quirky oddness to it, ...but ultimately, it's not that enticing, and by rights, shouldn't be called Giorgio. Don't get me wrong, the old Giorgio is by no means a must-wear scent (yikes, as if), ...and its only even a must-sample scent for those with a keen interest in that vintage era. Instead, if all you want is a powerhouse sillage white floral, there are other options still available today. ...but if you want to fully recall that lost Age of Excess, try layering several at once.

I have repurchased a few times. It smells high-end and is classy floral combination. When it came out years ago it was not an inexpensive perfume. This is a perfume that you should use more sparingly with a light touch.

I was born in 89' so I don't have the same nostalgia for Giorgio as others but it smells incredibly familiar and someone in my life must have worn it when I was young in the 90s. I've been wearing this daily since I got it last week, it's the most enthralling and addictive fragrance I have smelt in a long time. It starts with a massive burst of aldehydes and white florals, which settles into a woodsy, oakmossy comforting scent with a mature and sexy undertone. Beautifully complex and confidently feminine. I can't stop smelling myself, plus the juice has lasting power, I still smell it on my jacket 3 days later. Obsessed and wished I got the larger flanker instead of the 30ml, but the little bottle is very cute.

I smell flowers, lemon and dust; in my mind I'm picturing a 68 year old Italian woman at the beach with a pina colada. Not for me, but it could be worse. 4.5/10

The opening hits with a burst of flowers all at once, laced with a bright hint of bergamot. The tuberose here is fascinating, it smells like pink bubblegum, both playful and bittersweet. While I initially found it quite linear, I’ve realized over multiple wears that it is far more nuanced. I’ve learned to peel back its different layers; what I once thought was static is actually a complex, evolving symphony. As it dries down, it softens into something truly voluptuous and radiant, sunny, golden, and brimming with positive energy. I’ve noticed its beauty reveals itself when the weather is fair but not too cold. It is, admittedly, an olfactory 'bomb.' While it might be too overwhelming for confined spaces like a theater or cinema, it is absolutely magnificent in the open air. My love for this fragrance only continues to grow; it is a bold and beautiful.

This was in a basket in memory care housing that I work in. It reminds me a lot of Chanel no.5 that I also smelled while working here. The patchouli is a lot less overpowering. It's just a nice powdery oldtime fruit-floral.
