شروع ای از اوکموس،پچولی و رُز که این سه عنصر به خوبی حس میشن رُز نسبتا شیرین که انگار کمی زعفران هم قاطی‌اش شده اوکموس خیلی زود نقش مکمل رو پیش می‌گیره و کمتر به صورت مستقل به مشام می‌رسه رگه های بالزامیک داره وجوه حرمی از رز حس میشه که برای من چندان خوشایند نبود به مرور شیرینی عطر کم میشه اما در چهره‌ی رز،تغییر ای ایجاد نمی‌کنه و در انتها با یک عطر رزی_پودری مواجه میشیم که شیرینی کنترل شده ای داره و این حس پودری ترکیب ای از وانیل و چوب و گل هاست خوشم نیمد -تست شده از نسخه‌ی 2022- ************** scent:5/10 longevity:6.5/10 sillage:6/10 purchase value:1/10 ******** overall:4.6/10

This smells so much like Johnson’s baby oil, but a bit more powdery. It’s a very innocent and comforting fragrance with a vintage vibe (but not in an outdated way). I imagine pastels, ringlets, baby dolls and frilly dresses. It doesn’t smell cheap, but rich and full The notes here work well together. Usually I struggle with oakmoss, but it seems very subtle in this one This would be perfect to wear after a bath/shower

Absolutely gorgeous powdery rose/iris/mimosa scent with the perfect touch of warm sweetness from the vanilla & tonka. A wonderful scent which Imo was very mismarketed, there is absolutely nothing "noir" about this scent. When I smell this scent, I immediately think of the pale pink color on the box

Opens like lemon and rose Turkish Delight dusted with icing sugar. It has a slight edge, very pretty at this stage. As it develops on skin, it begins to remind me of baby powder and slightly sweaty skin. I think that's thanks to the touch of patchouli. I first bought it not long after it first came out - in 2011. I enjoyed it, but felt it was lacking elegance, or something more unique that I sought back then when still in the early throws of perfume obsession (you know, the kind that goes beyond having a few favourites and is more about collecting and testing). So I sold it, and within a few months kind of regretted it because I like this powdery/sweaty floral vibe. It stops short of Ideo's Last Canto, which also has powder and sweat, but goes into, shall we say, more earthy territory - into the posterior regions. Similarly Putain des Palaces, has that combo of powder and sweat, but takes it too far for me. Anyway, by the time I decided I missed it and wanted to buy it again it was discontinued, of course! So I put it to the back of my mind. Then about four months ago I saw that someone was selling a half used 50ml bottle so I swooped down on it, and I enjoy it every so often. It's soothing, a little like the (also sadly discontinued) Drole de Rose, though a bit less ladylike than DdR. I think the only thing that makes it like but not love is the fact the musk becomes more obvious into dry down. But to be clear, it's not base, or anything like that, and it's accompanied by what they call a 'doll's head' note, that's quite lovely! So if I were to say what this perfume's intention was, I'd say it's to smell like a youngish yet mature woman who's feminine but sensual. If for example you wore Bulgari's Femme, you'd stay in the pretty and feminine zone, Dahlia Noir strays into slightly naughty, and I suppose that's where the 'noir' bit comes in. It's not very noir (as most people point out) but it's sensual, which to me makes it lean very slightly less elegant. And at certain times, that's just what the doctor ordered as far as I'm concerned. I must find it soothing as this evening I'm recovering from a party my husband and I hosted yesterday for Burn's Night. I have that sleepy, somewhat bilious feel after too much fatty food and wine. Definitely not in the mood for any socials for a few days, and this was the perfume I reached for to soothe this introverted, cocooning sort of mood. Interestingly, I see that others describe it as introverted. I see what they mean, I'm wearing this for me. But! My husband just came in and said 'i like that'. So it's pleasing to others too. Big like.

This was once my greatest love. After years of using it, I barely managed to buy the last remaining stock in the hope of loving and cherishing it forever. However, that love has somehow faded... It's not me anymore, my taste has changed. And that's why I feel pain. I look at ber, but I can't love her anymore.. 💔

Smells exactly like talcum powder to me, I don't get any of the complexity

I have a dated bottle but I definitely smell the pink pepper, mandarin and iris. Think a cool but sophisticated girl with hoop earrings and a pink sweater at the airport.

I've had a travel sprayer of the edp for several years but never really took a shine to it. The patch is just too heavy in this fragrance, and it comes off a little dated and perfumy. I tried it in many different seasons, and it was always the same. I never was fortunate enough to get the lovely iris and rose more than the patch. I don't mind patchouli in fragrances, but if it is going to be the herbal, hippy kind, I'd rather it be in the base rather than the mid where it can dominate. On me that is the strongest note on my skin, and I just don't like it. I wound up passing this on to someone who appreciated it more than I do. Lucky for her she gets all the beautiful notes I didn't.

Dahlia Noir by Givenchy 3/5 First impression is just baby powder then a bit of rose starts to develop. It becomes a skin scent within a few minutes. Review based on sample size. Wore at home.

"Described as dark and sensual, this latest advertisement features Mariacarla in a harness with a sheer cape. (Grazia UK, TFS)" Let's begin with the dissection of this "claim" from Grazia. Is this scent dark? No. Is it sensual? No. Is Mariacarla in any way connected to Black Dahlia? No. So why this claim? Was/Is it joke? I guess not. They are very serious, when they try to sell their products of "inventing out of thin air." Again we have the name of scent, that (let's be honest) screams for the attention. So I will get bit deeper into Dahlia Noir or Black Dahlia. We all probably, hopefully know who Black Dahlia was. Young Elizabeth Short from USA, mysterious lady of the night (if I use nice expression), yes she was lady of the night, that was killed, tortured and dismembered very very brutaly. It is one of the most famous grotesque murders in human history. Elizabeth was of course very beautiful, allegedly always wearing black, flattering her snow white skin and black hair. She would pin flowers into her hair as curls decoration. Many ladies of that era did that. She always. Line stockings, black heels, red lipstick and perfume. Yes, she wore perfume. How do I know? I studied this horrendous murder, read books, watch the documentaries and many people who knew her, testified about her. Yet nobody penterated into who she really was, why she went onto sadistic ritual with killers and very interestingly, nobody dealt with questions WHAT kind of perfume she wore. Have in mind. Police received her purse. You can read about that. There was a small bottle of perfume. That is what I read in all these years, reading books writen about this criminal case. So WHY Givenchy or parfumery they hired, didn't research what that was. To incorporate it. I definitely would. "The transcript of Smith’s at times garbled (and drunken) description of Short’s imprisonment and torture inside a dingy, creaking old rooming house in South Los Angeles makes for some of the spookiest true crime testimonial ever committed to print: “She gets sad and gets back in the car, and he heads south on La Brea. Scent of the vintage powder and lipstick. They smell very nice. Where is that captured in the Base notes? Nowhere. Where is smell of expensive line stockings made out of synthetic materials? People testified that she wore good stockings that she could not afford. Did you ever smell stockings? That smell extract could be in the base. It's not. “An unbelievable walk! Her body moved smoothly, didn’t bounce. I felt she could have had a full glass of water on her head and wouldn’t have spilled a drop. I remember her as being tall and slender…very pale skin, and blue eyes. Quite something. How the wolves did howl when Bette walked by!” (pleasekillme) Imagine the plants from California moving in the heat, projecting some mysterious smell. Particularly in the morning. Like Romneya coulteri, the Coulter's Matilija poppy or California tree poppy which is a perennial species of flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae. Native to southern California, USA, and Baja California, Mexico. Known for Protopine substance. An alkaloid occurring in opium poppy. Did you ever saw that flower? Tall. Elegant. White as snow poppy. Exactly like white face of Elisabeth and white flower she wore as her hairstyle decoration. Imagine the smell that could be extracted from the flower that resembles her look and California, place that took her life. This flower should be in the Middle notes. But not alone...I will come to that. Elizabeth can deliver more. Beside many many options for Top notes I think of Middle notes also.. like, for example this Black bat flower. It has the unmistakable smell of rotting flesh, thought to be a way to attract carrion flies. Take a look at that flower. Don't be scared of words "rotten flesh. Imagine that as part of Middle notes. With leather add. Skin cold smell is a must of this perfume. Dirty skin smell. All the worst and the best must be inside this scent. Her death shocked the world. Middle notes must do the same. It must be painfully beautiful, sensual! Here Mimosa is something that fits. It's tricky mysterious plant. Pretender. The only part of Givenchy Dahlia Noir if you ask me, that fits to Elisabeth story is Mimosa and Rose, because Mimosa is a pretender. Elisabeth was also. I will mention rose later. She pretended and lied to everyone around her. To everyone...Study her. Read the books. Read police investigation. She was, probably also on the edge of some mental state. Can we find some note that can cause mental confusion? In California? Oh yes we can. Lophohora williamsii, Peyote. Here the scent of the cactus can be used and the flesh cactus freshness also. Why Peyote got into my mind? Because it messes with your mind and doesn't have thorns. It is mental influence substance. With that mescaline, it doesn't need needles. Like Elisabeth. How does Peyote blossom smell? Well, Peyote notes exist in the parfumery. Check them. Could be used also in the Top notes but I think that green radiaton should join other two for the Middle notes that I mentioned. Now I wanna write something about Dahlia as plant or flowers. Oh my. Dahlias are one of the most beautiful flowers. Existing in so many colours. Also in black. They symbolyse mystery, elegance, power, and rebellious spirit. ALL that Elizabeth was. So Black Dahlias essence is a MUST directly in the Middle notes, on the top of others I mentioned. Do you know that Dahlias are native to America. Aztecs called them "flowers of water". Did you know that killer washed Elisabeth, to cover up traces. WHOLE plants of Black Dahlias should be used in the Middle notes. That water green from the rest of plants, including roots, must be there. To company the blossoms smell, which is very mild, similar to Jasmine. BTW, the taste of steams is bitter. Like Elisabeth's fate was. Yet the snails adore Dahlia plants. If you don't protect Dahlias in your garden, snails will eat them alive completely. Like it was done to Elizabeth. I won't go into detail what killer/s did to Elisabeth but ripping off flesh with teeth was part of it. See, how one flower can be similar to human. Or to the story. Where is this in the compisition they are selling you as Dahlia Noir? Or on the bottle? Where? Maybe the bitter scent coming from Dahlia flower didn't promise millions. So they choose this: Top notes Pink pepper, Mimosa, Mandarin orange. All could stay. But this is far far from what Top notes should be. If you want to name them Dahlia Noir. Where is cigarette smell? Where is coffee smell? She drank coffee before she was last seen. Where is cocktail

I find this fragrance reminds me of a 1990s fragrance…… Desirade by Aubusson.

Very very light fragrance. I in cold weather it smells like vegetation. Weird cuz the notes don’t suggest that at all. Definitely has all the notes I love but I can barely smell anything in warm weather and I told you what I get in cold weather. This fragrance was a fail and I can see why. It just doesn’t do it’s job most of the time.

You beautiful girl you were so young when they took you away…I’m not sure if they where wanting to treat this fragrance like the black dahlia murder but this was a gorgeous unique scent was only out for a few years then they brought out dahlia divin and discontinued noir I can’t stand Alecia Keys because of it I’m not sure if it was the name of dahlia noir but I always though of the 1940s wearing this beauty very boudoir style powdery sweet and floral extremely feminine classy sexy think red lips red nails heels pencil skirt set hair givenchy please bring her back 💗

I had to upgrade this to a Love. I forgot I had it, and even though I wore my Thanksgiving L'Artisan Noir Exquis today, I saw this and gave a spritz. The iris seems stands out more than I recall. I also own the EDT, which I wasn't too fond of but will try again, but it lacks the soft fluffiness present in this one along with the beautiful iris if I recall. Moving this up to the front of my current rotation, and will also retry Dahlia Divin. Dahlia Noir isn't earth shattering, but I am happy I rediscovered it because it is quite lovely. I think I also have a purse spray which will be helpful as the longevity is mediocre at best.

This is not intended to be a fragrance review, but, for everyone desperately missing this beautiful scent, I think that Dove Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla body wash smells very very similar. The scents also lasts quite long after the shower.

Oooh ! This perfume 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I recommend it if you like to smell sexy bossy classy woman walking in wall-street area with high heels like “Merly Streep” in “The Devil wears Prada” Out of the traind of now, very unique 💯 (Cold whether only)

I scored a partial of this recently, and I am pretty sure that the top notes have gone off because I smell something very synthetic at first spray, but the dry down is so, so gorgeous! I smell the sandalwood and the oak moss along with the Tonka Bean, and on my skin it also turns very musky, even if there's no musk. This is a powdery scent, yes, but this is not baby powder by any means. This is sophisticated, elevated and I love how androgynous its personality is. I kept thinking the dry down reminded me of a perfume that I adore, and I finally found it - Burberry Brit for Men. These two actually share quite a few notes (mandarin, rose, patchouli, Tonka Bean) and while the spice is more prominent in Burberry Brit, here it is softer and warmer. I know my bottle will not last very long, which means that I will probably be using this as a bedtime scent for the foreseeable future!

I smelled this perfume for the first time years ago when I was 18-year-old girl in the most dramatic period of my life which every time I remembered my eyes filled with tears. It was a cool autumn in Stuttgart, Germany. After so many years the only thing I want to remember from that period of my life is this wonderful perfume DAHLIA NOIR . After 10 years will restore it again but this time to enjoy it with happiness. Although I have used hundreds of perfumes very expansive but I can say it was the best.

So I had a small bottle I had bought years ago sitting way back in my wardrobe. I recently opened it and started using it. I find it incredible. So classy with great projection and lasting power. Great spring/autumn scent. Why was it discontinued? Why? Why?

Another Demachy's masterpiece ( I think Dior homme is his number 1 and this is his 2nd) and hands down my most complimented fragrance. It wasn't love at first sight, I bought it when it first came out in 2012, and it took me quite a while to plunge in and buy it, I'd enter the store, spray, smell consider. So glad I did, it really grew on me so much. It's powdery but it opens with something slightly metallic and reminiscent of tart cherry. The rose is not as sparkly as in other Givenchy perfumes, the metal is gone very quickly and this becomes close to the skin, powdery, creamy, the mimosa is sweet rather than green, and very present along with the rose and the iris. It's utterly delicious. It's innocent, yet a very sensual scent. It layers very well with molecule 01, molecule 02 and another 13 from Le Labo. I mean so well people that never say things like that will rave at how you smell. I also has very good staying power and projects well, for such a powdery soft drydown. I've been in mourning ever since they stopped making it,I suspect because the name "Dhalia noir" connotations could land them in hot water as connotations about glorifying violence against women could potentially be claimed. So I'm spending silly money on sample bottles that still get sold on e bay. If somebody here has a bottle and takes pity on me, please DM me!

I got a mini of this to give it a try. I am always interested in perfumes that are discontinued. Usually, you just want to ring the necks of the powers that be at the companies who make these decisions because most often what they discontinue is usually stunning. And the discontinuing of stunning perfumes goes on w/ Dahlia Noir. This is old school, something my grandmother's, would have worn but it has a bit of a postmodern twist and lift w/ the pink pepper and a touch of sweetness from the mandarin orange. This is a lovely chypre fragrance where flowers do battle to steal the show, but it ends up in a stale mate. Rose is there, dark and w/ thorns, mimosa is there in her sunny dusty yellow and iris is there w/ her cold shades of violet. I would love a bigger bottle of this, I own Dahlia Nectar, Initale, and Nude and while I like all of them this one leaves those in the dust.

I genuinely feel that this may have been the last really bloody good scent Givenchy ever produced. My obsession and fascination with this scent never wanes or wavers. For me it IS noir. Anytime wear but really shines of an evening.
