This is a very decent fragrance to wear on a daily basis!! The opening is very nice and Im digging the lavender 🪻 in this fragrance and I also pickup a bit of smooth leather as well. Some may shit on this fragrance but I really like it for a daily driver at work and this stuff lasts a good 8+ hours on my skin and clothing with moderate projection that's inoffensive and will be great for the office.
Very sofisticated fragrence. Very versatile too!
For me it is too synthetic. I want to like it, because I love the Givenchy Gentleman line, but I can't. However my girlfriend likes it, so it earned me compliments.
Love the opening more than the dry down The pear is so beautiful but quickly vanishes and starts becoming powdery and the vanilla and patchouli together makes it little chocolatey.
Very versatile and wearable but nowhere near being exceptional. Final Rating: 8.26 / 10
Flat simply flat, but hey it's an EDT can't expect much though some do perform very well. Fragrance is very subjective this is just my thoughts on this particular one.
In my opinion, the modern iteration of Gentleman is a rather dull and unoriginal fragrance. Its overly sweet opening, built around a prominent pear note, certainly grabs attention — but ultimately falls into a style that has been heavily overused in recent years. Meanwhile, the iris–leather–woody accord that is meant to drive the second half of the composition feels weak and lacking in character. It’s as if something essential is missing. The overall impression is that Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson played it too safe, avoiding any real risk in favor of a broadly accessible, but ultimately uninspired creation. As a result, the fragrance comes across as disappointing and certainly does not live up to the standards one might expect from a flagship release by Givenchy. I have to admit — I expected more. My rating: Not recommended. (3/7)
This is a put together man wearing a white pressed shirt, chinos and an understated watch walking through a sea of baggy pants, hoodies and t-shirts. 100ml cost me as much as a bottle of an Arabic clone. It was a no brainer which one I was going to buy. This is a scent for the theatre, cinema or any close quarter event as it won't attack anyone nose but you'll smell great. Update- it's summer so I've started wearing a moisturiser with an SPF. I now get 7+ hours. Up from 4 hours and it's a lovely scent bubble. Still soft but definitely lasts a working day.
I used to dislike this fragrance because i preferred the now discontinued 2019 cologne version (which i miss!) Yet the more I wear this the more I like it; initially I disliked it because it opens with pretty much pure pear. After a few trial runs I really started to love it. About ten minutes after the pear, the pineapple, iris & leather/vanilla all seem to come out in equal proportions which i really like. Leather & vanilla traditionally lend themselves to warmer weather fragrances but they're so lightly used here its nice having a fragrance incorporate that. Its a young fragrance meets an older man's fragrance. It has elements of the newer sweet freshies but balances it with traditional scents like patchouli & leather... im surprised this isnt voted higher
This is totally a “man’s cologne”. It kind of has that fresh, a bit woody, a bit aromatic balance that a lot of people who don’t want to think about it would reach for. But this is more complex than the basic grab off the shelf. This has this cool balance between fruity and hits of floral that you have to dig for. I get more of the geranium and lavender than iris, but the way it all comes together is nice. Theres even a touch of a sea salty vibe that I get. I can see some of the resemblance to a dna like Percival or Cobalt 7 Blue. Overall smells great, and generic on the surface, but there’s a lot of nuance here that I can appreciate. Performance is light. Projection light.
This EDT version costs 100 bucks in the department store and sometimes 50 bucks on the grey market. It's an intriguing blend, a bit more unusual than the newish EDT Intense. I smell Lorson's touch. But man, a really light impact. I think it should be labelled "eau de cologne" and cost 30 bucks, kept in the fridge and sprayed liberally in warm weather. EDT Intense does impact like a normal EDT (though hardly intense) but don't switch to Intense hoping to get more oomph. EDT Intense is quite different than this one.
Underrated, really nice fresh powdery pear scent
Fresh, Bright, clean, and SMOOTH- {2023 batch} starts off fruity; Juicy pineapple and cardamom paired with that clean iris drying down to leather and vanilla and the subtle undertones of the top and mid notes. That said, it’s unique but not groundbreakingly good. Performance 6h ish projects good enough for 2h (In the gym- so prolly better if youre wearing it normally) Pretty good daily wear- this isnt smn youd wear in extreme heat its more like fall/ sunny winter day- summer evening. I didn’t expect this, but it does get compliments!
Gentlemen Givenchy EDT is great, im surprised it's sitting around a 3.9/5.0! I do think it's objectively a 4.0 fragrance; it's my least favorite of the entire Givenchy Mens line but I still adore it; firstly, the pear and pineapple combo is very rare in mens fragrances, its opening the iris isn't detectable it's mostly all pear, after about 10 minutes the pineapple really pokes through. Secondly, the iris while listed as the top note is subtle, as is the leather/vanilla. It's unisex but leans masculine slightly. I do think Givenchy suffers when it comes to mens warm weather fragrances because their fall & winter scents are superb. Moderate longevity & projection..I Do think Gentlemen Only EDT is a better warm weather fragrance, its a shame Givenchy discontinued their best two warm weather fragrances (2017 Pi Air, and 2001 Pi fraiche) such a shame we haven't had a Pi flanker this decade, I'd bet money Pi will be discontinued this decade. Only other negative is the givechy beauty customer service in the u.s.a. easily the worst of any fragrance company around, i requested a return over 60 times, the manager ignored my emails & calls, thus artificially extending the return window. Contacting LVMH directly i was ignored, shame on LVMH for allowing such bad customer service. Buyer beware; seek their products from reputable discounters...
No performance issues. I am wearing right this minute. 5 sprays in the same spot. Middle of chest. Applied at 430am this morning. Its now 3pm. I can still smell it. I'd say it performs pretty well.
If you like the Gentleman DNA like Boisee, but want a fresher, fruitier, brighter version, then this is the answer. Pear, floral, powdery iris with breezy woods. It’s a perfect springtime formal scent because it’s clean, classy, and sophisticated. A bright, daytime scent but is probably too thick and cloying for dead of summer heat. Performance could definitely be better. VERY underrated and overlooked in favor of the flankers. 8/10
Yes it's sweet and fruity but not over the top, it's not cloying, it's uplifting and refreshing. The powdery notes are not domineering. Very easy to wear and versatile. It has a soft, youthful, character to it, without being a teenager fragrance. It's the fragrance your aunt gifts you for your first formal event, but it can easily be someone's signature, or office fragrance.
Easily last at least 8 hours on my skin . FYI , this isn’t discontinued because still available on Givenchy website
I just recently picked up my 3rd bottle of this one. I was pleased to see after opening the box that it was an original thick, fat original bottle style which is the 1st Ive had. I quickly looked up the batch code and I was super excited to see that this was an original 2017 batch!! Ive always heard that the original 2017 batches are better than the newer batches. Well, imo the newer batches have much more pear and iris. The original batches have more lavender, leather, and black vanilla. I love iris and pear so Ill be trying to get the newer batches in the future. I hope that this bottle gets better after it gets some use like the EDT Intense which gets smoother and stronger as you use the bottle. But still, pretty awesome I was able to snag an original 2017 bottle. I looked to see if there was anymore available and nope, all gone. If you love iris and lavender like I do, then this one is a must try no question.
This has been discontinued. For good reason, they have reformulated this. The best part of this fragrance was the opening . Unfortunately, the beauty of the fragrance ends there. It drys down to a dirty rubber smell I hope they revamp it while keeping that pear note.
This Givenchy is, in general, overpriced in my opinion. From my experience, the scent itself is very well made. I would rate it 9/10. However, the performance is disappointing: Sillage is very weak, only 4/10. Longevity is even worse, fading after 2–3 hours on my skin, so I give it 3/10. Value for money is 1/10 , definitely overpriced for what it offers. In general, I would rate it 6/10.
It is a great pick for an office day. It’s the total opposite of those loud, in-your-face modern perfumes. This one stays close to the skin and feels really elegant, like it knows how to behave. It’s not super woody or piney. It leans more floral, but not in a bright neroli kind of way. The iris is soft and kind of cozy, not powdery or makeup-y. The best part is the dry down. The leather hold the dark vanilla's sweetness and the patchouli brings that fresh mystery that is amazing. Still tame, but so comfy to wear that you forgot that you need to share it with someone. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from an iris fragrance, but this one surprised me. It’s subtle, but not boring, just a nice balance. If you’re curious about iris but don’t want anything too strong or too muted, this is a solid place to start. It isn't a WOW, but a very affordable investment.
I allowed this fragrance to sit a little over a month after one wearing and it does seem like the fragrance has become stronger with projection and longevity. It's the first day of summer here in San Francisco Bay area and the temperature is 63° with sunny sky's which is perfect for this fragrance. I applied this fragrance around 5:00 am and as of now it's 11:00 am and this thing is still pumping very strong and that lavender in this thing is a little more prominent than the first time I wore this. I have to bump this up a notch from my previous rating so I give this a 9./10 because of how nice this smells on my skin and clothing. Maceration is definitely a real phenomenon with fragrance and I'm happy I decided to wear this one to work today and it's not the best fragrance of course, but it is very decent if you want a daily driver for work or casual events.
It's a good fresh-type of iris scent but there are so many better ones on the market. I used the whole bottle for everyday wear, but won't be buying another one. It lasts maybe 4 hours maximum. It is versatile, classy, suitable for almost all occasions. 5,5/10.
Love this Fragrance! I'm surprised it only has a 3.90. I get that it's not as rich as the ones that came after...but thats what I love about it. I can wear this anytime/anyplace. Folks saying this has been watered down?? I dont get that at all...I've got a new batch and it performs excellently. Love the Iris and how it has been blended. Dont sleep on this one..I bought for 80 bucks Canadian and it has become my daily go to for the spring...and I'll be wearing into the summer. Fantastic and should be rated higher. Just what i want out of a designer fragrance...absolutely fantastic.
This is a good fragrance! Fruity pear 🍐, iris, cardomom, vanilla and on my skin I do pick up the leather but it's really light to my nose. Gentleman Gevinchy EDT is great for everyday wear all year round and I see this fragrance working in most situations and settings, office, church, running errands, or just lounging with friends or family. Longevity and sillage are good for a EDT because I get around 6 to 8 hours on skin and even longer when I spray my clothing. I bought my bottle on Amazon for 59.00 bucks and I believe I got a great deal and I'm happy to have this in my collection along with my two other Gentleman fragrances which are, EDT intense, and Reserve Privee. 8/10 fragrance for me and I look forward to exploring more from this line because so far Gevinchy has not disappointed me and I believe it's an underated house that deserves more love.
Nice smell but honestly a bit disappointed , i had expectations about this fragrance being fruity then powdery , really was excited about the pear note but unfortunately the opening although barley fruity it was faint and didn't last , the smell slowly kept getting leathery which yeah i do like it but not what i hopped for
It reminds me of cool water, fresh green manly everyday scent good for all occassions, I dont detect Iris which should be dominant by the notes, probably newer batches waterdowned and changed cause its not longlasting
This is a nice fragrance that can be worn year round and it's budget friendly if you cop this on discounters. Happy to have this in my collection and the iris in this one is mild but present along with the pear and cardomom this gives a fruity kind of vibe. 8.5 / 10 for me.
This is absolutely criminal. A fragrance that is this good, to perform this poorly. This is so phenomenally good. And the performance is so shitty. This is an absolute 10/10 (to my nose). And an abysmal 2/10 from a performance standpoint. I wish fragrances like this didn't exist. This is criminal. I love this, and hate it at the same time.
