I miss Gucci Envy sooooo much. I've been missing it for years now, after being my personal scent for almost 30 years, basically until I couldn't find it anymore. Gucci please bring it back!!! (Not that they'll ever read this, lol) It was just the perfect scent in my opinion. I found it almost magical. It was perfect for me. I could never find anything that even came close to it. Very sad indeed.
If anyone actually wants to know what this smells like- it’s a watery green floral fragrance with a very distinct metallic edge. There are florals there but the flowers are subtle. A favorite for sure, if not for nostalgia alone. Although I think it still stands up on its own.
this surely wasn't a perfume for me. but then quickly it became one. concipiated by Maurice Roucel whose perfumes I seem to love. but perhaps more interestingly, under the helm of thèn Creative Director for Gucci Tom Ford, the perfume fell under his lush-louche 'Porn Chic' with which esthetics he revitalized Gucci as fashionbrand. while the Greenness and Freshness of Envy initially wrought me away, I now see that the knife sharp arriving Greenness is complemented with a Plethora of Fruits and (more important) Flowers and that the Musk, Oakmoss, Cedar & Sandelwood give this cissor sharp perfume a tough backbone. but it was especially the name, the sexualized 'Envy', which draw me in. Green, due to Oakmoss, Hyacinth, even Lily of the Valley, the perfume soon would enter this just fabulous athmosphere of a Night out in a seedy bar. I even had the Edp (Matte Black flacon) and perfume (transparent thick polished glass with 0.5oz15mL content) with its own Transparent Plastic Sarcophagus. this was the Marketing Genius of Tom Ford. the Advertising was breathtaking. so that is how a counterintuitive perfume reached Stellar Status in my collection of perfumes, soon to be followed by both Rushes.
Selling my vintage Gucci Envy. Bought it a while ago from a private collector because I kept seeing people call it one of the best discontinued Gucci fragrances ever made. The scent is very fresh, green, floral, and clean - lots of hyacinth, jasmine, soft musk, and that cold “fresh flowers after rain” feeling people talk about online. Definitely has that classy late 90s luxury vibe. I really wanted to love it, but after wearing it a few times I realized it’s a bit too sharp and green for me personally. I usually prefer darker or sweeter fragrances, so this one just doesn’t get enough use in my collection anymore.
I miss you Gucci Envy! You were my signature scent and then you were discontinued. I am still in mourning.
Dewy, mossy, sexy.... Earthly yet otherworldly. Absolutely beautiful scent. Gucci should bring this back.
I have a 1.7 oz that is about 3/4 full that I purchased from Dillards in the late 90's. It's still in perfect condition. Message me if you are interested.
I have a bottle for sail 100ml sealed .US only
I brought Elle In Paris Eau De Parfum today and got flashbacks. Top notes are Raspberry Leaf, Black Currant, Pear and Sorbet; middle notes are Rose, Magnolia and Jasmine Sambac; base notes are Musk, Patchouli and White Woods.
I got a small sample of Envy, and it’s a shame it’s been discontinued. Delicious. It reminds me a bit of Miu Miu. Fresh, like dewy cut grass, with a dry, mossy thread running through it. There’s a sheer white floral sweetness that makes it feel creamy and luminous: magnolia with a lemony glow, a touch of green jasmine, and just a hint of blooming rose. Sometimes it makes me think of Carnal Flower, though thinner, less rich, less solar. The bergamot actually comes forward more as it dries down, and once you know there’s pineapple in it, its juicy sweet-tartness sticks with you. It wears so easily, sharp but elegant. It’s instantly likeable.
Best womans fragrance of all times. What an amazing thing...i had a friend when studying in italy she were blonde, and so chic... She had a ton of fragrances but everytime she were wearing that she were like a goddess...amazing..
I agree with Mandie731! I've worn this since it first was launched. I currently have two 1.7 oz bottles but sadly one has gone bad :(
If I had just one wish it would be for Gucci to bring Envy back. Please, Gucci, I am begging you!! Ok, that may be a tad dramatic, but it really is such a shame this was discontinued. For a perfume made in the 90s, this still smells so modern. It's hard to believe it's nearly 30 years old. I will cherish the rest of my bottle for as long as I can and only use it on very special occasions, but I will be bereft when it runs out.
Used to wear this perfume when I was in University and recently I tried Le Jardin de Monsieur Li at Hermes, that reminded me of Gucci Envy, and another perfume with similar scent is 5th Avenue, 70% similar
I loved this so much growing up - bye bye, old friend :(
I adore this. Would be my signature if it was still around. It's definitely unique and meant for someone who is an aficionado of green fragrance.Just reeks class and old money. It's a master blend of florals, greens, and woody notes. Opening to me is Freesia, Pineapple, and Vodka; settles into Lily-of-the-Valley, Hyacinth, and Iris; later notes as it ends are base notes are Oakmoss, and Musk. I have both the EDT (clear bottle) and EDP (black bottle). The EDT is fresher florals in composition whereas the EDP has more of the powdery iris/violet and sandalwood. But, they are similar enough to where when you're wearing it, you definitely know it's Gucci Envy. Absolutely broke my heart when this discontinued and I treasure what bottles I do have left. I consider it a treat.
This is one of those discontinued fragrances I own that I'm scared of using bc I know I'll mourn after it once it's gone. Sexy and clean can contradict each other, but I think they go well to describe this perfume. Imagine a garden full of white florals - particularly Lilly of the valley - after a rainy morning. The refreshing scent of the rain amplifies the smell of all of the plants and flowers, and a young lady who is wearing a musky perfume is now walking through her garden, relieved that she doesn't have to water them. Envy combines a variety of green notes and musk into this lovely, ladylike potion. Lilly of the valley is definitely the leader in this team, but you can also feel some freesia in there as well as oak moss. Feminine and charming while also having this enchanting, not really seductive but heavily attractive quality to it. I wish Gucci would bring this back and not make it body spray longevity, unlike their recent releases.
A really novel white floral fragrance. I still reach for this even if its been around forever. The top fruit and green notes really give the white florals a unique spin.
Clean, fresh and iris. I am selling a perfume inspired by Envy on my etsy and ebay shop. You can reach me out for the link.
I had this back in the day, maybe early 2000s? I wore it out dancing, primarily. It was a wonderful feminine, green scent. I wonder if it's still sitting in a bin in storage...
I've been wearing this since it came out in the nineties. It is by far my most complimented fragrance hands down. Delina really reminds me of Envy but not as sweetly piercing. It will always be in my collection as long as I can find it for a fairly reasonable price. Thank goodness I still have 3/4 of a 1.7 oz bottle 🥰
Unforgettably intoxicating feminine scent. I wish Gucci would bring it back!
Gucci Envy (50 ml., thief shop, 25 usd, fairy mint condition, 1997 batch) Me & my hubby, finding some activity to do. On this beautiful raining Sunday, we decided to go to Japanese thief shop, fairy far from a town. Big warehouse. I found Envy, green bottle. Sit in the shelf. The shop is humble and let us test. I split one tiny spray on my hand. I got instant eyes-roll, it is the best mossy green white-floral I have been tested so far, like I can’t explain. It is very clean, soapy and modern. No we not talking about pass modern. It is very now, I don’t mind wearing this at all. In 2024. It is minimalistic clean white floral. Comparison to the classic release in around the same times, you could feel the scent indicates the era. Pleasure by Estee. Something like that. No but it is not the case with Envy. You know, I pay certain amount to enjoy Fleaur Diamantine by Maison Crivelli but damn like, there is no major difference, Ms.Envy might be the same teir. My 2nd throw back time fragrance that make me feel something like this apart from Parco pour Homme. Old perfumer is something else.. Why, I have no idea, why? Why they can create something like this.. Since 1997 and hold up until this day..?!?? Addendum (Ps. But yeah.. as much I am enjoy this scent, the classic floral green blueprint. I can’t recommend you to pay abusive high price for this.. unless you have strong nostalgia. You crave it, to evoke something inside. Please don’t hold back..)
I found an incredible deal on a vintage 100 ml bottle, but it wasn’t packed well and leaked during shipping. So, these are my notes on skin from the tiny bit left and from the contents on the cardboard box. It’s a definitely green floral, but not harsh, and the woods are prominent. My guess is the woods are more prominent for me than they would be typically because the bottle leaked slowly in transit, so it’s been exposed to air for a while. The pineapple lends softness to the green flowers. It seems to have a rounding effect as opposed to emphasizing the fruit. It doesn’t exactly smell like vintage Cristalle, but it creates a similar feeling. But take this all with a grain of salt, because my sample is odd. It does make me want to find another bottle, however.
Was curious to try this popular late 90's creation, so I got a mini. I transferred some of it into a spray vial so I could wear it properly, and gotta admit I'm not into it at all. It's not that Envy is bad, it's just not my thing. It's mellow and green, smells way more simplistic than the note pyramid. Some fruit, a little floral, with an underlying smell of dewy grass. Longevity is pretty good, though.
Gucci Envy was a fragrance I first smelt when I was in my late teens. A boyfriends mother had a tray of fragrances in the bathroom, and I would see her get ready to go out for the evening and usually reached for this. She always dressed sophisticated and chic. The fragrance really suited her. I remember thinking, "Huh! Is that what elegance smells like!?" As a person who grew up in a household where both parents disliked fragrance, I rarely got to enjoy any until I lived on my own. I remember wanting Gucci Envy but couldn't afford it at the time, and by the time I could, it was gone. Gucci Envy should definitely be brought back it had all the right notes that made for a fresh yet sexy classy fragrance. It is truly a feminine scent.
first i am getting a dewy green floral with woods. i think i get iris, oakmoss and lily primarily. strangely, in the beginning it smells exactly like something else i've tried but can't place. it gets a bit soapy after about 20 minutes, and i think i am getting musk and hyacinth. i think maybe mine has gone off honestly, as it's a partially full mini bottle. it just stays fairly woody with an odd toasty sort of smell in the background. however it doesn't smell like that in the bottle, so i am unsure, could be a skin chemistry thing.
I used to have it in my 20ties. I loved it. It was green, juicy, soooo feminine. After it was sadly discontinued I tried to find sth similar and never encountered anything even close to Envy. Wish it was back!!!
please bring it back!!! when this perfume was discontinued so was a part of me...
This scent accompanied me through my moving out my parents house to study and my first heart break. Had Gucci brought it back, I'm nt sure I would have purchased it because of the scent association attached. But this was a beautiful scent. Green, fresh, clear, lily of the valley scent that is worth to be brought back to life.
