Gucci Rush

A friend of mine wears this perfume and the first time I smelled it, it felt very familiar. It resembles the kind of perfume worn by those fancy girls we used to admire when we were little it also has a bit of a "young mom" vibe. I don't like peach and peachy notes at all but since the peach note here is very subtle it leaves behind a lovely fresh and gentle scent once it dries down. It’s a scent that evokes old memories and childhood days. it feels, above all, "familiar."

I wear this perfume a long time ago. Very nice for cold weather, snow... i will by it again after 15 years

I bought it a few years ago in a bundle but never touched it. I was so biased and relied on people I do not know: it is plasticky, cheap, tacky and in a bad taste. I was soooo wrong! After a tiny spray I immediately recognised this perfume. I knew it from the past. It somehow brings good memories and positive vibes. I usually do not like peaches in perfumes but is very well blended in here and I am enjoying it waiting for furher development on my skin. Never ever rely on opinions and taste of people you do not know. I am sorry Gucci, I was so wrong. But I promise to start to wear Gucci Rush with a pleasure.

I wore this with an archival cop copine top today plus a nude concealer lip and low rise bootcut pants so I’m basically Sarah Jessica Parker

Synthetic Lipton’s peach ice tea and some weird earthiness without a real woody patchouli presence

this has always been one of my favorite perfumes, ever. after Envy (1997) which had a kind of Calvin Klein Eternity vibe, and from that perfume I had the Edt, Edp (black bottle) and parfum (all slitzing glass within perspex box) I found Rush even more compelling. what was there what not to love ? it of course was also the Glitzy Edition of Flacon and Cellophane, Advertisements and the whole Tom Ford esthetics (which I elsewhere summed up in 'the Master of Sinister Glamour, or Lush Louche'), and his fashions for Gucci plus later for YSL (which Karl Lagerfeld propagated still before Yves had died, in sharp formulations he exuded that Tom Ford was brilliant) and at the same time the start-up for his own Brand. so it was the flashy 'bottle' and ditto perfume ! Tom Ford could make you want something and he succeeded. Rush I had at least twice and Rush2, which was less my cup of tea, but I had to have it to see them next to each other. instant Futurism. Envy for men had an absolutely fabulous bottle but as the queer half of Boy-Twins I never w(h)ore men's perfumes. that was for my straight brother who went all Creed and Chanel and Guerlain. with Rush the Gardenia almost ate you alive. that is a topper. further Freesia, Peach, Roses and Jasmine. Peach being one of the few Fruits I can dissect from a fragrance. and it was somptuous. the Patchouli is kind of a Tom Ford benchmark. his perfume White Patchouli is also to die for. (2008) twice I went into an Operating Theater with White Patchouli on my pulse and in the nape of my neck, and as a Nurse for 45 years, it went through. as also the Lady Nurses said: "Oh what is that gorgious smell ?" and no one made the association that you daren't go fully made-up into the Operating Room ... then Rush carries Vanilla and Vetiver to round it all up. I guess the onslaught of White Flowers plus Rose did me in. that is what happens with Tom Fords perfumes (while for Gucci, plus Nu for YSL (2001), and his own Black Orchid (2006), White Patchouli, Black Orchid perfume (2020), Jasmin Rouge (2011), Orchid Soleil (2016), Sahara Noir (2013) and Violet Blonde (2011). further Gucci by Gucci (2007), Gucci Edp (2002) and Rush2 (2001) (Time Flies). I had acquired all these perfumes and I guess Gucci Rush has the best and propelled the clearest memories. being the White Flower Bomb and to my amazement composed by Michael Almairac, a brilliant perfumer. Demna is doing great for Gucci, Haider Ackermann for 'Tom Ford' but he, Tom, will always have a place in my heart. his fashion was a straight propulsion from 'Lagerfeld Studio' (1990s) and the Versaces.

I'm 46 and NEVER owned or even smelt this one. It's doing the rounds on tiktok and kept coming up ony fyp so I got a bottle and at good price with vouchers. I obviously can't compare to the OG but it's very sweet opening. It's a sweet fruity musk. I get a little patchouli where others say they don't. It'll be great for warmer sunnier days, I'm going it leave it for a while now though and see if she needs to mature abit. Glad I blind bought her ❤️ **Edit** Batch from Oct last year so she is very young and weak. I hope she matures ro everything people say she is.

I have a 75ml cassette of Scannon Era Rush (edt) Initial thoughts are that it reminds me of Deci Dela by Nina Ricci. A voluptuous ripe fruit and cellophane. Does it still smell like this, I wonder? If not, then I'm not sure I'll repurchase.

An intriguing perfume, it walks hand in hand with Yvresse. Distant cousins, united by the same peach, but here with a lot of patchouli. While Yvresse is a pool party with rich people drinking expensive drinks, Rush is a nightclub with cigarettes, sweets, and drugs. It also evokes the smell of Barbie's hair, a sweet, plasticky scent.

I think I’m in love. I purchased my bottle from Sephora in 2022 immediately when I saw it because as a patch head, I had always heard of this legend as a brilliant example of a patchouli forward perfume. I hadn’t liked it (smelled generic, hairspray, white floral bomb). Out of sheer laziness it’s been sitting in its box in my closet in the swap bin since then. I’m now in the process of selling all of my “hads”, and playing with them just to be sure. People - let this juice macerate! I’m not sure if 2026 bottles are the same as what I purchased over four years ago (it says “Coty and ‘made in Spain’ 2003” but I can only say now this has developed into a stunning patchouli after It opens with a strong camphor/moth ball/Mop-n-Glo. Perhaps I can envision a crowded Fire Island bar c. 1998-1999 but it is only the power of suggestion. I didn’t know anyone who wore this back then.

I found this online for a great price so ordered a bottle, I couldn't remember what this smelled like and I don't see much people talk about it now. First spray I thought "oh that's just hairspray scent" but sprayed on skin it definetly gives plastic then as it dries down comes the sweetness and coriander. This is for a woman who wants to be sexy and stand out, does what she wants! I don't know if its because of my age but I think this is rather mature, where as my mum (who would have been teen at the peak of popularity) says it smells like cheap clubbing. Its synthetic smelling in the best way possible and addictive! I need to give it more time but this could easily become one of my favourites, so unique and theres nothing else to compare it to

I've got a bottle from 2000, and a bottle from 2015. They are both amazing, but they are different ladies dressed in a similar red dress. One wears lovely synthetic pearls with fashionable vinyl pumps, and her favorite statement piece of jewelry she's never seen anyone else wear. She's confident & sexy, interesting, charming, & beautiful. The other wears a long strand of vintage pearls she inherited from her favorite aunt. She loops the pearls twice around her neck. There's a subtle grace, edge, and seduction in each step of her suede heels. She's enigmatic. Mystery and intrigue, with enough sparkle to make her feel magnetic. 2015 bottle is like looking at an impressionist painting from far away. It's beautiful and balanced. Sillage & longevity are standard for a modern fragrance, nothing impressive but not poor for modern. Opens plastic but that settles quickly, then you get wafts of soft patchouli, and beautiful and balanced white florals which add a layer of sophistication to the sweet cream base. 2000 bottle is having the entire room to view the painting. You can get some distance so you can see the clear feel and idea of the painting, but in the 2000 bottle there's no roped off area you aren't allowed in. You can go right up to the painting, closely examine the details, run your fingers over the layers of paint so you can feel each brush stroke. 2000 opens differently. There's a specific white floral note that's absent in later versions. Then there's a warm peppery spice absent in later versions as well, unmistakeable coriander. The patchouli is slightly more pronounced, but still balanced and not over powering. Longevity and Sillage is a completely different beast in the original version. Modern formulations can only be described as watered down, but there is also a clear difference in the way individual notes smell. (Likely due to perfume regulation changes that required brands to use alternative compounds to create these notes.) The heart of Rush is still there, and I still love the modern versions. If you loved this before, and you can only get your hands on a newer bottle, I still suggest you do it. It will still transport you back to a time when things were simpler, but somehow richer. ✨ My absolute favorite.

Insane. Utter femininity. I’m 25, but this is for ancient and strange women. Not for the masses and thank god it isn’t. This is godly. Let’s gatekeep it from these horrible fragrance influencers, PLEASE, I refuse to see this perfume translated by tutti-fruity fucking noses. It’s insane how much I hate patchouli and here it is an absolute pleasure. And I have the modern EDT!

(EdT from 2000) I had a roommate back in college who was very slovenly. Their approach to cleaning was to just wait until the filth piled up so much that they could quite exactly trip over it, and it wasn’t until then that they would put in an effort to clean things up - often resulting in a very large, time consuming effort at that. I remember one time they left a bowl of very fruity cereal in milk on the kitchen counter. Curious to see how long it would take them to dispose of it rather than me following-up behind them as I so often did, I left it there as well. The milk went rancid, and I couldn’t take it sitting there anymore so out to the dumpster of our apartment complex it went. The smell was bizarre and off-putting to say the least: sweet from the sugars, strong candied berry notes from the flavored cereal and the decomposing dried fruit, and very sour from the spoiled milk. Deja vu. There is a spectrum of “trashiness” when it comes to perfume, fashion, or really any type of art form - the degree of vulgarity, lasciviousness, gaudy opulence, and/or gluttony. A line exists in the middle of the spectrum. Right over one side of the line is actual trashiness, where being close to the line means being inappropriate but probably acceptably trashy. Right over the other side of the line is appropriate but flirting with trashiness. Tom Ford is no stranger to this line, and whilst being the creative director of Gucci, YSL, and later at the helm of his eponymous brand, he frequently steered the brands’ offerings just over the line into trashiness. When doing so he was arguably - rather inarguably in my opinion - at his stylistic best. Gucci Rush is a prime example of this, and, supposedly, Ford loved Almairac’s final submission for the perfume as soon as he smelled it. The amount of damascones in Rush is enormous. Sour green apples, vividly saturated raspberries and artificial strawberry, and sour plums create the backbone of this perfume that pairs in the opening with a sour lactonic quality - spoiled milk trying to evoke (or cover up) a fatty, fleshy, animalic and musky gardenia note. The shockingly neon fruit continue into the heart to adulterate a citrusy green jasmine, and a puerile and sweet jammy rose. Fruity and rosey lip gloss of a disgusting sheen and unnecessarily pungent odor. A bright red lolipop sticky with sugar and neon food dyes. Cheap rose air fresheners, hot from hanging in the sunlight from the rearview mirror of a car, or an awful aerosol spray in a bathroom. The theme continues with a candied vanilla, peppery and dank green patchouli, and a rancid, salty, swampy, sour green vetiver at the dry down. Gloriously trashy. Juvenile energy rank with immaturity. Embarrassing yet addictively hilarious. Don’t wear this to work. Don’t wear it to dinner. Don’t wear it to a date. Don’t wear it to a wedding or a funeral. Don’t wear it anywhere you want to make a positive impression. It’s brilliant.

Remember the Toni & Guy hair product line from like 2010? The hairspray would envelop you in a scent bubble that was synthetic, electric, airy, captivating and utterly addictive. THIS is the perfume that smells just like that. I’m transported, floating in nostalgia ♥️

After I guess 10 years having it in my collection and wearing from time to time, I finally let this beauty go. I ve finished my bottle. I enjoyed as much as I could but it’s time to let it behind. Thank you! ❤️

This one is gonna take you for a ride. If you're not into retro/bold fragrance, or dislike Patchouli, I'm going to tell you right now that there is a 95% chance you will not enjoy this. This opens sort of synthetic, a plastic like smell. Then within seconds you begin to pickup something honey like, like the pollen on flowers, nothing edible. It's during these first minutes that the gardenia only peeks out at you, but never fully presents itself. It's until about an hour that you get the full dried down effect of the peach and patchouli with slightly green/vanillic nuances. It's a scent of comfort for me, something I reach for when I need a hug from my fragrances. It's intoxicating but contradictingly comforting.

Late 90s. The new millennium was upon us. A night out sipping cosmos with your girlfriends at the latest bar. All dressed in Gucci and Roberto Cavalli. Lace up stiletto heels. Marlboro Golds on rooftops. Gold chunky bangles. Giant gold hoops. Red C-curve nails. Spearmint gum. One night stands. Waking up in a high rise. Walking past magazine stands in the morning. Crisp air. The worst hangover but you still look fab.

This was excellent when it was first released. I went through 2 bottles until it was discontinued.

Good cologne for women it smells spectacular

I had high expectations for this one since it's my friend's favourite. This is where I realize that a fragrance really is subjective and the reception to its smell can really vary from person to person. The smell of this for me is anti-climactic, especially the dry down. I guess it depends on who wears it and smells it but for me, it gives me no reaction, no smell memories, no excitement, just nothing. It was dissapointing because I really love Gucci Bloom and also the fact that this fragrance has peach and freesia notes (couldn't smell the peach at all). It just didn't deliver, for me.

I hoarded my beloved circa 2000 Scanlon bottle of Gucci Rush, because I thought it was discontinued. (It was for awhile, right?). Then I saw a post where people got it at Marshall’s! I struck out, buy it was also available at Gucci $135 so I figured it was back. I read that some people thought it was weak and had changed, but other people commented that it was the same. I had the unique advantage of still having the original so I thought I would get the newer one by Coty and compare. I got it on eBay for around 50 bucks from a seller who had sold hundreds of bottles with great reviews. I got a decant from The Perfumed Court to compare all. The Perfumed Court Decant smelled exactly as my eBay Rush smelled. They smell exactly the same to me from first spray to dry-down. Still milky, sweet peachy, gardenia, barbie head plastic. That being said, I never could smell the patchouli in the first release (I don't like patchouli, generally) and people say that is the note that is missing in the new release. It is still beast mode still-lasted 12 hours and still the next day on one cuff.

This bottle (casette) dates back to the early 2005 ish era. Grey market buy. My wife got this way back and never wore it because there's a note in it that I do not like...even now after revisiting it this week I find this is not a scent I enjoy. A respectable Michel Almairac frag. The first women's scent from Gucci way back. My wife loved the fruity floral nature but there's a note in it that I equate to burnt electrical wiring ...that's what it remonds me of. Maybe the coriander? I love coriander in food but maybe not in this . Maybe plastic like another reviewer said below. Definitely something that throws the floral off to something very differnt making this unique. Its not bad ...it's just not something I personally enjoy. I shot some into a tissue over the weekend and still find it unpleasant. Wife still loves it.

I just bought a new-ish bottle that's from 2023. The glorious floral and fruity notes are still present, along with that slightly synthetic note, but I'm not getting the patchouli I remember. I'll let it sit for a while and come back to it in warmer weather. I will say I'm glad to have it in my collection, just for the memories. You can find newer bottles on ebay for around $50, but the vintage bottles on ebay are close to $200.

I have a soft spot for Gucci Rush. Its very naughty indeed: rich, decadent, intentionally sintetic yet deep and very conceptual. A masterpiece, for sure. The reformulation is trash, so be aware. Tremendously watered down. The original stuff is incredible: Youll get creamy and sour peaches, rich gardenia, velvety rose, spicy coriander and that unmistakable vetiver and oakmoss drydown. As far as i know is discontinued, wich is meant to be, if theyre not able to replicate the original formula anymore. Liquid sex. BTW, Sospiro Liberto is very close, less "loud" because of higher quality ingredients, but amazing. Same rich, spicy and carnal peachy gardenia concoction.

Why no one is talking about how similar it is to the og FLORA GUCCI EDP the one with the hexagonal Bottle A huge disappointment I was hoping for a earthy woody fruitchouli scent Since i like florence cavalli a lot and its a fruitchouli with Blackcurrant and an earthy woody patchouli similar to angel mugler and chance chanel’s patchouli Rush is the opposite I don’t get that sharp woody patchouli that i like at all i even wasn’t Sure if there is any patchouli Cus all i get is a synthetic pale dry peach in the worst way and some not creamy florals Overly similar to FLORA GUCCI

If every woman in your family didn’t smell like this at one point I don’t know what to tell you.And if you haven’t been gifted this by one of them while you were way too young for it, I also don’t know what to tell you.It just smells like a woman on a night out .More mature maybe and definitely not a morning scent.Was really surprised to find out there’s peach in this.Rush is one of those abstract feminine perfumes where you can’t decipher the notes .

Despite being a 'tester' addict, I never seem to find anything amongst newer fragrances that attract me. Even when you do find one - viz Angel...they reformulate the fragrance so that it smells nothing like your original purchase. I recall wearing Rush in the 80s and 90s, remembering that I liked it. To repurchase nowadays certainly doesn't require a three figure sum so I did buy a 'cassette' and so glad I did. The patchouli seems to be pronounced on me (I have oily skin?) and it's a little sweeter than I'd like but sooo long lasting. Nothing annoys me more than buying an expensive fragrance that is 'gone' in an hour! So happy with my rediscovery so have bought three more.
