My bottle is collecting dust. If anyone in the US is interested, feel free to message me.
Opens with citrus and a lot of raspberries, then you get the cherry and the roses. The dry down is more elegant woth the patchouli and tonka bean. This a more juvenile version of the original, cute fragrance to wear all year long at any time of the day. It's discontinued but I have a sealed bottle if someone is interested
Opens with a combination of raspberry and bergamot that smells almost like synthetic grape gum. This melds into a cheap, synthetic rose. Here comes the patchouli! It smells synthetic, cheap, and young. Then, vetiver and moss enter to try to ground it, but it's already made an impression. Headache inducing (literally, had to toss the blotter immediately), cloying fruitchouli. No thanks!
I find it difficult to categorise this as a chypre - it's really just another one of the many millennial fruitchoulis. I don't dislike it, just disappointed that it didn't add much to the LPRN line - some of the other flankers have given the line an interesting twist (Blueberries? Pistachio? Leather? All fantastic) but this has just flatlined for me from start to end. Couture oddly feels like a sour, screechier, more watercoloured version of the original EDP, which I find deep, intoxicating, and playful. More like a casual brunch dress than a Couture dress.
I'll disagree with the review below me.... For a few hours I do feel like this is nothing special. I'm over FRUIT dominated perfumes. I do love LPRN and the flankers, but this is nothing special. Until... the moss/drydown. Now, it's just me, but the moss adds this green/earthy magic to the raspberry powder. And that is why I have a back up bottle. I do get the chypre-ness, but maybe my bottle aged? I know it's older, prob back to 2016. This ends up clean and powdery, then earthy, but never ever dirty/unwashed. Raspberry-powdery-jam-rose in the earth. After wearing it, it is special after all.
I seem to cant get along with raspberries, and i do hated this.. to me it’s a vague raspberry and some florals with patchouli harrassing them. It’s not terrible don’t get me wrong but do we need this?? Do you know anybody that picks this for their signature scent, or lists this at their top 5.. i dont know but i hardly think so. It’s really vague and i find no harmony in this fragrance. It doesn’t befit guerlain.
I own the original EDP and the EDT from when it was released and while at first I wasn't too interested in wearing it as I thought it was too juvenile and fruity sweet for my taste, I ended up wearing almost the entire EDP bottle. I read this Couture version is a chypre and as that is my jam, bought a half bottle at a great price. To my nose this is in no way a chypre (?), modern or otherwise. That's a stretch as it smells like a fruity floral to me. I have only worn it today so maybe I will notice differently after more wearings. Though this is supposed to have raspberry instead of cherry, I smell sweet peach and cherry up top. It does smell nice and in fact a woman in the shop I went in asked what I was wearing and that it smelled great. So there is that. It has a nice warmth at the base which is soft and pretty but I guess I prefer my chypres to have that full on mossy, earthy base and this doesn't. Perhaps a chypre for those who don't like chypres? Overall it's nice and since is discontinued, probably not as easy to get so I wouldn't pay a ridiculous price second hand to get it unless you love the line and want every flanker.
Lively, citrusy, sweetly fruity fragrance; the raspberry notes emerge victorious over harsh citrus notes, the temporal olfactory evolution becomes floral, bringing out an unexpected and surprising rose immersed in reassuring musky and enveloping and sensual notes of patchouli and Tonka bean. Very feminine, delicate, clean fragrance
Sour cherry powder. I adore a good modern chypre, and patchouli and rose are my favorite notes, so I had to blind buy this and I just received it. I've only been wearing it for one hour so far, but here's my first impression. The chypre vibe is sort of there, but this perfume is really more of a sour fruity scent although a complex, "adult", and interesting one. Its potent, loud, high sillage, the kind of perfume that people who claim to hate perfume would, well, find too "perfumey", and not something to overspray or wear if you want to go unnoticed. Obviously I love perfume but even I find it a bit overwhelming and I think it will require more wears to familiarise myself. There's definitely a bunch of sour cherry in this even though it's unlisted, which doesn't exactly surprise me since that is a common note throughout the LPRN line. There's also something strongly cosmetics-like to my nose after an hour, perhaps iris even though it's also unlisted. It's powdery, like vintage makeup compacts mixed with raspberry and cherry lifesavers, rather similar to JHAG Lipstick Fever. Overall this was a successful blind buy despite the composition not closely resembling the listed notes, but it doesn't make it to my top 10.
I love the opening this one has! A slightly spicy gourmand raspberry rose. It reminds me of a raspberry desert; maybe a trifle, cake, jam or even ice cream. Unfortunately it disappears after about two hours on me though. Update: I ended up buying a bottle of this and it turns out that the atomiser was the issue. The tester had an awful atomiser that dribbled constantly. With the bottle atomiser, longevity and sillage are much better! It lasts nearly all day on me now and projects much better, even with only two or three sprays. I get more notes out of the fragrance too, and it's turned into a favourite of mine!
Warm slightly spicy fruity cherry Raspberry vanilla. I love it!
I didn't like this when I spritzed it on, but when the cherry licorice dried down it left a wonderful lingering vanilla scent. It lasts fairly well, around 3-4 hours. Agree with some reviews of it smelling like a Dr. Pepper drink
Well, i nearly just killed myself with two sprays of this before bed. I forgot i am allergic to perfumes with this distinct, artificial raspberry note. I was on my way to bed, and in the dark, i grabbed the first Guerlain on my shelf. Big mistake... I can' wear this, nor i can wear Parlez-Moi d'Amour John Galliano. Both share this annoying, ultra strong raspberry note that overtakes all other notes, and does not let go for hours. Couple of years ago i almost died an early death by wearing LPRNC, and few weeks later same happened after i sprayed a single spray of Parlez Moi. My throat started to close, and i do not generally suffer from allergies. Well, since so much time has passed, i made the same mistake again tonight, and here we are. Midnight shower, flonase and wide awake not being able to wash this stuff off at all. I wonder if anybody else has experienced these issues with this cloying raspberry note in perfumes? It feels terrifying. I love my fumes but i am not ready to die for them. Or of them. Or because of them. As a side note, i do consider LPRNC to be extremely juvenile. Sometimes it is very hard to believe that this is a Guerlain.
I bought this bottle roughly 6 years ago. I've recently picked it back up, sucked into that beautiful opening.. just wow. It's so feminine and delicious - then I remember why I put it aside in the first place: the dry down is a bit screechy, almost too powdery, maybe even sour?? Admittedly, and as a point of reference, I am one of the mouth-breathing masses who is biased towards my gourmands and fruity florals (sue me) and this doesn't seem to hold up as a solid gourmand, but I really like it for that reason. The sweetness isn't "buttery" like caramel or sugary vanilla, rather a fruity, jammy kind of sweet. Despite my weird feelings about this perfume, it is undeniably classy. When I feel like wearing a "ladylike" Fall/Winter scent without offending people I share air with, or going into "this perfume is wearing ME" territory, I will reach for this. One spray is good for the office for the day.
Cliched fruitchouli. It would not be a problem if it didn't come this sickening and uncomfortable after 1-2 hours of wearing it. Sorry. :(
-Opens as a nondescript sweet scent. -Dries down slightly sharp weird. -The vetiver and moss lends this a chypre accord. -Reminiscent of Chloe Nomade, but made for a younger audience. (-)
Odd... gentle, womanly, fruity smell.... muted. It's like if your mom washed her armpits with shampoo. Not dirty, it just smells instantly like you've been wearing it... for 3 hours. It's berries without that sparkling tartness.
I could swear there is a touch of cumin in the top and early heart that gives a sultry, bit dirty but very attractive body odourish vibe and also one that makes this classic red berry-rose-patchouli fragrance an unexpected twist. I admit I don't know the original but I know I generally prefer berry notes over cherry. Anyway, the tricky cumin note dissapears in 20 minutes and waht remains is a beautiful, spicey rose-patchouli fragrance with quite a unisex base. I think this is a superb fragrance that managed to stand out from its very popular genre.
Amazing fruity chypre, gives raspberry champagne vibe. One of the best LPRN flankers.
I really like most of the La Petite Robe Noire line. In my opinion it's an elegant, beautiful interpretation of the 2010s fruitchouli trend that only Guerlain could have done like this. Yes, there are so many flankers that it's starting to get confusing, which might be the reason why I didn't try this discontinued gem sooner. But now I'm so glad I did. LPRN Couture is a sweet and sparkling blend of jammy raspberry and patchouli. Thanks to an intense dose of tonka beans it has a warm, vanillic, slightly spicy undertone and also recalls the cherry note of the original EDP. This is not really a chypre in the classic sense of the word. The moss note lends an earthy base to tame the berry sweetness, but it's not dominating the scent at all. In my opinion this is too warm and not bitter and contrasting enough for a typical chypre. Not that I'm complaining, I love this just the way it is, playful and chic. Performance wise it's also perfect to me, noticeable and long-lasting without being extremely loud or overwhelming. Side Note: I feel like this is the missing link between LPRN EDP and LPRN Intense. I own and love Intense, but I never thought it had anything in common with the rest of the line. Until now. Couture has the juicy red fruitiness of the original, but not the licorice, and the berries and amped up patchouli of the intense version, without the cotton candy. I can really see how they got from the Edp to Couture and from Couture to Intense.
I love this. I am a huge fan of LPRN and LPRN Hippie Chic/Legere, and was excited to try this one out since it didn't have cherry in it. And wow....I am in love. Top notes are bright and fruity, and the dry down is sweet and very similar to LPRN without a lot of licorice. The raspberry really shines here.... this is lovely. I'm buying a backup right now, because this is my new spring perfume!
I first tried this on at an airport. LPRN EDP on one wrist, Couture on the other. A while later, Couture bloomed into something I loved, and I decided to get it when I had a chance. But it was soon discontinued, and I bought the original EDP to hold Couture's place until I was able to access a bottle. Now I've finally bought Couture. It's fairly similar in vibe to the original EDP, but I like and will wear them both. Yes, the opening is very fruity and tart. Soon the deeper notes start to emerge. Luca Turin called this a "spicy rose." I don't get rose so much, but I do smell the spices, along with dry, sun-warmed woods and patchouli. The change in tone from the sweet, tart opening to this stage actually throws me off. It actually strikes me as more melancholic than anything immediately after the change. During this first hour, I'm able to see why some reviewers here have called it an "old-lady" scent: the powdery spices, dry woods, and moss together are reminiscent of the old Guerlain classics for a brief stage. I don't mind this so much (check my username) but I did worry that I wouldn't get the drydown I had specifically bought this for. (Side note: If Guerlain intends to lure young ladies in with the LPRN line, maybe Couture is specifically meant to train their noses to appreciate the classics like Mitsouko?) But within an hour, the tonka appears - hooray! And a touch of the fruit notes returns, and the melancholy tone turns happier and sweeter again until the end. For some reason, now it makes me think of caramel - not that it literally smells like caramel. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's a textural thing? - something giving me a "sticky" impression? - or it could just be the brown-hued tonka note playing tricks on me. There's something gourmand and yet not gourmand now. I'd have to keep trying this to be able to compare to the original EDP more confidently. The general theme is the same: sweet-tart fruit to sweet dark patchouli-woods. I do appreciate that the fruit (especially the sourness) is a bit more toned down here, after the initial blast, and that in the drydown, the gourmand-y notes are more forthcoming. I always feel a little self-conscious smelling so strongly of sour cherry when wearing the original. I have to say that I'm not sure what's "couture" about this, but I'm not complaining too much. I'll just look elsewhere for my red-carpet fragrances.
Unfair of me to review this given I don't enjoy fruity fragrances, but I have a 2ml sample and today the vial twinkled at me in a most charming way. It promises raspberries and it delivers them, filling the air around me with it's olfactory babble. Sweet, juicy and a little bit trite, with not much to say to me after the first few minutes. I waited for the delicious dry-down Luca Turin promised, but after 2 hours it hasn't arrived and I am shifting my attention elsewhere. Nice enough, perhaps, but pretty dull. Haiku of the day a charming black dress sweet olfactory babble quickly forgotten
Another fruity floral. Actually mostly just fruit and sugar. At least Guerlain maintains some of its classics in great condition. This perfume, however, could be any other fruity floral you find at Sephora. Luca Turin must have been drunk when he reviewed this one.
This is a beautiful luxury soapy berry, it's so interesting, good sillage and stays clean on the skin!
This is my first Guerlain, i didn't choose the original EDP because I'm nervous about the licorice and then decide to blind buy this instead. My first experience is quite disappointing since this is too fruity with a weird earthy dry down that i don't understand. Vetiver and oakmoss is unfamiliar notes to my nose. Bummed i put it aside for days. Today I try to wear it full day in a rainy day and i smell.. clean. Husband said my new perfume reminds him of an expensive laundry place for fancy clothes. Well, guess it's not a really fail blind buy. I like it but i need to layer it with more vanilla to get the creamy base i want.
I get pineapple raspberry then a bit later big glorious oakmoss. Very chypre. Husband loves it.
I like this raspberry, not too sweet and not cloying. It smells like a very expensive homemade jam in a high class hotel’s breakfast. But there a some vetiver in the dry down and vetiver is not my cup of tea. It’s very prominent to my nose, as a any note we don’t like usually is. I guess vetiver should be a serious and well mannered ingredient, the « couture » touch in the mix, but it’s too greenish weird for my nose, like a unclean swamp note. The idea is interesting though. Edit : I do swear there’s some licorice in this one too.
I was somewhat disappointed. I expected a sophisticated raspberry perfume with some rose and patchouli and "moss". What I smell is just a raspberry perfume. It's ok, and if you're in the mood to smell raspberry it's pretty. But honestly, I don't find it anything special.
The raspberry keeps it away from being a chypre. If it is a chypre, it is an edible, delicious one. Quite a seductive/fun perfume, sweet fruity woody. A fruitchouli which you can find at lower prices by brands like Avon, Oriflame, Zara. Couture is great overall, lasts very long time. The one perfume which smells exactly like this is Parisian Chic by Avon also raspberry based.
