to me this is a VERY herbal lavender perfume with some other touches added. I usually make friends with my Sephora sales advisors and one of my favorites introduced me to this a few months ago. gave me a sample insisting I try it some time. I'm very familiar with the lavender note, have tried countless perfumes made with it, and even without knowing the notes of this, the first thing I smelled was an intense and very herbal lavender. so it's not even smooth, it's like the "freshly cut, very potent, green" type of lavender. I love the other reviews on this, but to me I don't associate this with even a motherly scent. it's very 40+ age range, but I wouldn't want my mom to wear this. there are a few other scents in the market that'd be lovelier to remind me of her. all in all, nice. but nothing memorable. a very green lavender scent with a bunch of other feminine additions. not a perfume I'd buy for myself, or anyone I'd gift a perfume to.
On my skin, the lavender is so prominent that I can't reach the powdery vanilla,I only catch that cozy sweetness on paper or in the dupe Seductive Noir. Most compared perfumes:Libre Ysl is more modern and fresh ,clean and dynamic, goddess burberry is more pure vanilla sooner like a cake.this is more classic, sofisticated, serious.not food.more intense lavender on my skin. Expectation vs reality: Reading the review before me about "doesn't bring to mind a mother".i was thinking similarly and never wrote it.When I read the marketing and influencers focused on "wife and mother" tropes, I cringe,it brings to mind a boring weak woman, not the comforting image they probably want to sell easily, which is why I avoided it.no one dares challenge centuries of stereotypes It’s all about marketing and storytelling. it could easily be marketed as: High-end Modern Unisex: Housed in a minimalist, angular bottle made of grey or black glass, featuring a campaign with a man or a woman in a sharp suit, launched simply as an "Aromatic Lavender & Vanilla Wood" for everyone. Urban/Niche Chic: In the world of niche perfumery such a balance between masculine lavender and sweet vanilla is automatically considered unisex and avant-garde, without anyone ever thinking of words like "wife" or "office." The juice itself doesn't come with a label when it touches your skin.the label is entirely created by how the company packages it in the consumer's mind.
I like this, but it seriously reminds me of Avon Skin So Soft that we used to douse ourselves with as kids to keep mosquitos away in it's dry down. Just me? Maybe, but I just can't get past that.
Amazing olfactory experience truly natural and uplifting🔆💜
i loved this on first smell then i bought it then it made me depressed. it's smells like a depressed older woman who had a life of tragedy. it's definitely the lavender.
It is an elegant, comforting, and sophisticated vanilla lavender fragrance that feels both timeless and modern. It opens with fresh lavender and bergamot, leading into a beautiful heart of jasmine and iris, before settling into a creamy base of vanilla, sandalwood, and tonka bean. The fragrance has a refined balance between freshness and warmth: the lavender gives it a clean, aromatic quality, while the vanilla and tonka create a soft, sensual sweetness. It feels feminine, polished, and effortlessly elegant, making it suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions. Its only drawback is that the DNA, while beautiful, is not particularly daring and may feel familiar to those who already enjoy modern vanilla florals. Still, the quality of the ingredients, smooth composition, and Guerlain’s signature elegance make it a standout.
Sweet, powdery, feminine lavender vanilla with citrus. I can see why people love it. It's very wearable, but not something I'd like to wear again.
I originally received this fragrance as gift from my mother. She loved it. I like this fragrance, but I wear it occasionally because it reminds me of my mother, but also because my husband really likes it. It lacks subtlety, but the smokey florals do make an impression.
The most beautiful thing I've ever smelled Stunningly, achingly beautiful in a way that actually stops me in my tracks to pause and take it in when I'm wearing it. It makes me feel powerful yet intuitive, calm yet energized. The perfume that started it all for me and got me into fragrance as a hobby. I absolutely adore it! My beloved signature scent. Versatile for all seasons and situations except for the absolute hottest/humidest of summer days, yet never cloying or too sweet - just the perfect creamy sandalwood + non-gourmand vanilla + tonka/coumarin base, with lavender to lift it up so it's not too dense & still has an airiness. Incredibly sophisticated-smelling yet not "old" or stuffy. I also think it could work beautifully as a unisex scent. Just amazing. I recommend everyone to at least try it!
I adore almost every Guerlain fragrance. I have the vintage variety as well as the newer releases. I adore them all and respect each for what they are. That said, I blind bought this one! I am quite disappointed as I adore lavender vanilla concoctions and I barely get anything at all! Does anyone else feel this with Mon Guerlain? Zero staying power light light light scent at all. Silage is zero. Not pleased!
Honestly I don't know why people rave about this. Every time I try it, I really want to like it but I don't. It just doesn't smell like the notes. There's this unusual sweetness and juiciness in the opening that I just find sickly. It's too sweet instead of elegant. This is just pink sweetness. What a shame.
Why did it strongly remind me of Layton De Marley when I smelled it?? I don't know
The "not like the other girls" part of me is trying hard to dislike it: it's generic. people pleasing, a bit too conventionally feminine for my usual taste, you and I have probably smelled this profile thousands of times... But I don't really have anything negative to say. It's really nice. Beautiful. It does its job. It starts elegant and a little bubbly and goes on with vanilla coziness. Girlfriend material. I feel like I'm the goth edgy teenager falling for the normie bubbly girl in those wlw fanfictions/teen shows, you know. I'll probably use this sample for events where a "conventionally attractive woman" presentation matters.
Originally I was getting licorice and vanilla but lately, all I get is sharp lavendar in the mid and dry down...especially in hot weather. It's a fancy scent but every time I wear it, I wish I had something else on. I get Burberry Goddess from Mon Guerlain but BG one feels more complete with the Cacao dry down.
This does resemble the vanilla of Guess Seductive Noir that I don't like. This is sweet and woody, with a plush, soft lavender. I love lavender and wish it weren't infused with the vanilla blend here. The composition smells like a baby doll scent from the past. There's a facet that makes this almost plasticky on my skin and not the right sort of sweetness. It is pretty, but not my taste. I could see this be a comfort scent on the right person. Preferred "hug" scent: Trussardi My Name Preferred vanilla comfort scent: Lalique Le Parfum
To me, it smells of incense. A powdery, oriental scent. Where’s the lavender? 8/10 – The performance is brilliant. It’s interesting that it shares some similarities with Shalimar.
Opening is pure medicinal lavender with hint of vanilla. Dry down to sweet powdery scent which smells ok. It's old school like coco scent. I was expecting more since there's alot of positive reviews.
I wear this scent nearly every day and it feels really nice and comforting, everything about it is perfect, but it also triggers my migraines very easily, just to say that I love it enough to wear it even if it makes me feel ill
After wanting this for such a long time, i should have left well enough alone....if you recall vintage cigarette packaging, with the flip-top box, and the gold/silver foil beneath revealing the cigarettes.... the smell you get from THAT specific packaging is the same as a bottle of Mon Guerlain. It is HEAVY and DUSTY and MOULDY smelling; smells nothing like vanilla, only dark, rich tobacco, that dries down to the smell of petrol. This is going in the dustbin.
Just a beautiful scent 😍 love it so much.
Mon Guerlain - my love. I just finished a bottle and already ordered the next one. I cannot be without it. I used the very last spray before going for a walk, and while I was sitting on a bench, a woman literally started circling around me until her husband finally came over to ask what perfume I was wearing, because his wife was “stuck” and refused to move forward until she found out. Yes - it's Mon Guerlain, my love! I hear people compare it to Burberry Goddess or YSL Libre, and no, please do not be fooled. I like Goddess, Libre, not so much, but do not dare reduce this masterpiece by comparing it to… well, anything. This stands on its own. Similar notes mean absolutely nothing when the composition itself reaches this level. This fragrance is delicate, intertwined, and layered. These are not notes placed next to each other, it's a symphony. You think you smell lavender - and you do - but the lavender is alive, dancing, holding hands with everything around it. And yes, there is vanilla too, but not just any vanilla. This is what I love about Guerlain, and what true perfumery is about. Very few perfumes make me feel this way. For me, Mon Guerlain carries emotions, nostalgia, memory. It reaches into some of my deepest inner worlds while grounding me in the most romantic version of reality at the same time. My bottle is empty now, and I genuinely feel like I lack oxygen. I will never let this one go.
I appreciate Mon Guerlain for its complexity...it's a study in crafting...but most of what I get is Vanilla and Licorice. I have to finally admit to myself I can't do Vanilla. Ever. It makes me nauseous. It's painful. And everything has Vanilla in it these days. I'll stick with my older perfumes that were created in the era before Vanilla, and I'll be happy. I wish things were different, but there are those of us that are not like 95% of the rest of us.
Feminine, soft, light scent.
This just became my favorite vanilla perfume. So well-blended and rounded out as a scent! No sharp edges, though you can still pick out various notes like the bergamot and patchouli. This one should stand the test of time.
I ACTUALLY ran out of this one right here and BABYYYYY… that should tell you EVERYTHING you need to know because I will DEFINITELY be repurchasing!!! 😭👏🏽✨ This fragrance is a COMPLIMENT MAGNET. I’m talking compliments ALL. DAY. LONG. Every time I wear this somebody has something to say. It just has that “what are you wearing?!” energy. 👀💕 The lavender, sandalwood, and vanilla together on my skin???? ABSOLUTE MAGIC. ✨ The lavender gives it that soft dreamy femininity, the sandalwood makes it creamy and smooth, and the vanilla wraps everything together like the prettiest warm hug ever. Its soooooooooo good!! Whewwww 😮💨💖 This fragrance is pretty, feminine, lovely, womanly, elegant, and BEAUTIFUL all at the same time. It smells polished without trying too hard and honestly it’s just TOO GOOD not to own. And let’s talk signature scent worthy because YES MA’AM. 👏🏽 This is the kind of fragrance people start associating with YOU. Soft luxury, classy pretty girl energy all in one bottle. ☁️👑✨ 10/10 HIGHLY recommend!!!
This has been be go to date night/evening perfume for about 7 years. I started wearing it because my partner at the time really liked it. It’s very cozy and comforting, amazing during the fall and winter during the day. I know there are a lot of fragrances with similar notes on the market, like Burberry goddess and ysl libre, now. But I will always feel like mon guerlain stands high above them in quality. One of my all time favorites.
I've come back to review this after many years! I still love this, it's still my signature perfume, and it still has its magnificent quality as before! Mon Guerlain is a perfume that is not trying to be anything; it isn't trying to be girly, young, mature, bold, soft, delicious or anything that goes to any extreme. It is just itself: being a woman. It is just a beautiful perfume with its many scents, and smells incredible and inoffensive. I love this perfume so much because it makes me feel comfortable in who I am.
I really smelled the lavander right away, it's quite strong. Was hoping to get more of the vanilla with it but didn't find that. 5/10
Smells like a warm comforting hug. Wore this years ago when I still had hope and sparkle in my eyes.
I bought this as a gift for my mother, and she absolutely loved it! It smells like drinking a cool glass of lemonade in a lovely flower garden. The bright lavender and jasmine balanced with sweet vanilla and citrus is just so classy and timeless! Not something I would wear personally, but this definitely smells amazing, like a spring day in a bottle.
